  • Duke freshman Paolo Banchero is off to a strong start to his much anticipated freshman season in Durham.
Banchero arrived on campus with a lot of hype and fanfair and many draft analysts and fans believe he could be the 4th Duke player o selected 1st overall in the last 25 years following the footsteps of Elton Brand, Kyrie Irving and Zion Williamson..
Through 8 games, Banchero has been as good as advertised averaging 17.8 ppg, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 50/33/84 shooting splits highlighted by dominant halves vs Kentucky and Gonzaga..

Micheal Foster Jr has the best numbers of all the draft eligible 4s

Interesting question. I’d say mainly because he doesn’t have great lengths as far as wing span and instead of just dominating around the rim he settles for jumpers and also tries to showcase his ball handling skills which leads to turnovers and questionable decisions… The same issues people used to have with Julius Randle.

Reminds me alot of a bigger Carmelo Anthony, with a dose of amare studomire. But he has decent post footwork

Haven’t watched too much of him yet, but just through this footage, his game feels a bit like Jabari Parker on offense, who was also a Duke kid with Melo comps from scouts. Will teams really go for a inside out player with an unproven 3 point shot at #1?

Yes because he’s a better passer and playmaker. He can make plays out of P&R similar to Zion but Duke isn’t really using him as a ball handler..

Fair. His playmaking and creation are much better than Jabari.

I'll go against the grain and agree with your first question... I might be on the outside looking in here, but I'm not sure Banchero is a lock for the top 5. I actually like Jabari Smith better than Banchero. Duke has a great team all around, but Banchero is just another piece of Duke, not the whole. And of course I like Duren, Hardy, and Holmgren better than Banchero too. To me there's a clear top 4 and then a crap shoot for the 5-10 range thus far. Of course that is subject to ever change.

@@RafaelBarloweNBADraftjunkies OVERRATED!!! He's good, but not #1 pick good like everyone is hyping him up to be. At least so far.
P.S. You were right about Austin Reaves... his handle is sticking enough to last.

@@norrinradd542 Duren is a traditional big man, Hardy hasn’t showed anything in the g league defense, efficiency or playmaking wise for his stock to in the top 4 over other prospects, and Outside of defensive versatility holmgren has showed nothing to be the top pick over Paolo, and that’s without talking about holmgren’s obvious weight issues.
