I have style 107s which are the same size/offset of your wheels. I put 15mm spacers front and rear and it fills things up great. Plus you can remove the guide bolt on the front shock towers and push your struts in for -1.5deg of camber. It improves initial turn in tremendously.
A great alternative to the M135 wheels are M164s. These are also 18 inch but way lighter than these M135s. They also have a low offset which makes them fit flush with the cars body. And the best: they are not expensive.😍
New wheels look great! A few comments about lowering and offset. My 2p's worth is don't fuck with the wheel geometry. You'll spend money, ruin the cars handling, then go back to the original eventually. BMW engineers know what they're doing and have engineered the best compromise for sporty road use. Save your money, enjoy the car for what it is. Have fun.
I am sure you are feeling a huge difference with those 255s in the back. On my e85 I have 245s in front and 275s in the back. It feels like a track car compared to what it felt like stock. SO MUCH TRACTION
mv2's actually look clean on your black z4. I'd keep those 17's as a cheap winter set if you have the space. You never know. Bang on a set of winter/all season tyres - you'll be flying around.
James has the wheels I love on this car, they are definitely going on my Z4, but yours are neat as well! And you could order them back in the day on the Z4, so you're keeping the OEM look.
I’ve got exactly the same wheels. Just had tires changed. Yours is now looking much much better. Check your alignment is right. Myn was way out and I didn’t even know
A great vid dude. Getting rid of the run flats will make so much of an improvement. I'm thinking about replacing my Z4M for a 3 series Alpina (B3 Bi-Turbo or B3 3.3) or getting rid of my Z4M wheels (as you know ;) ) and putting either some Alpina softline wheels or some OZ Rallies. It's always great to do small touches, that really have a big impact on how different car can look and feel.
Good choice mate. My Mv2s are in gun metal grey and look proper nice. Good balance of look over cost. I know u not likely to be handling a wheel again anytime soon but quick tip when refitting, put the wheel bolt into the socket first and you'll find it easier to insert. Good vid mate.
Love the new wheels Joel. I agree the old Style103's didn't look great. I swopped out for those E46 M3 (Style 67's). If you feel up to it. Msybe an update regarding how the new wheels ride maybe yeah? I definitely felt a difference and I also went from 225/17's all round to 225F and 255R/18. Actually running a set of 265' in the rear at the moment. Semi slicks for some summer weather down here in Cape Town:)
I had the same 17s on my zed 3.0i when I bought it and swapped them straight out with some style 108 18in.18s may it be mv2s ,107s 108s look so much better.
goplanit if you want to keep the stock look - absolutely 108! If not - best options IMO are: Style 189, Style 225, Style 230. If you wanna go wild and pay a bit more - Style 163.
Hi joel, finally you changed the rims, they are superb this one, they are the same as mine on my 3.0 si 265 roadster! I am ready what you do with France and I hope to have the pleasure one day to meet you my friend, you will always be welcome by me! Take care!
Don't know if they are available in the UK but Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s are a great budget performance tire. I have them on my 3.0i and they have grip for days.
I would have gone bigger again and whacked 19's on it.MV4's look class on Zeds aswell.Mv2's a good choice too.Car is taking shape.Makes me want to start cleaning up my Z4
Have 19" on my 2007 3.0si as well. Might want to consider getting rid of the run flats when you replace the rubber. Really makes a positive difference. Then consider selling the damn thing for a base model 2020 Corvette... you know why... -
Hey Joel I've got a spare flap for the p/s if you want it for free? It doesn't have the little tabs that you twist around to lock it in place but you could fashion some other way to fasten it easily enough.
Nice one! Out of interest Joel, how low is that jack? Sounds like an odd question but I have Eibach springs on my Z4 and have to drive it on to a couple of planks before I can get my jack under it.
Always, always, ALWAYS use axle stands. Please! Particularly if you're going to upload videos that are intended to instruct other people how to work on their cars. People die and break bones as a result of taking short cuts like this, including my friend's mate. Died on his own driveway a couple of years ago 😔 Happy that you've got some new wheels Joel, but not happy to see your legs under the car without supporting it safely. Take those extra 45 seconds or so, and that goes for anyone reading this ✌️
James F always do for anything else but no need for changing wheels as it’s such a fast process, as for Joel’s legs, he shouldn’t have had them under the car
@@JamesPickering as his mechanical mentor, it's this kind of stuff that needs pointing out to him as a novice. You could have a good little tutorial series going here, teaching good practice 👍
Amazing how much difference a simple wheel change can make! Let me know what you think of the new shoes!
It's Joel I had a quick question, do you know if 18X18.5 ET30 will fit a 2008 BMW Z4 3.0i in the front???

Yeah great improvement, just need some new tyres next!
Just needs lowering 35mm now to make it sit right. A nice set of H & Rs are what’s required . 👍🏻.
And 15mm spacers
35mm will scrape and rub everywhere - be a fucking nightmare.
Spacers though. 15mm rear and 12mm front.
Adam Woodford I have 35mm H & Rs on mine and they’re fine, no issues at all.
@@arsestick I've 19inch M3 wheels on mine, H&R 35mm springs and spacers. It scrapes on speedbumps lots.
Mine is on Eibach pro springs with original shocks, 18" 108 wheels, 20mm spacers on the back and 14mm on the front.
mv2's actually look clean on your black z4. I'd keep those 17's as a cheap winter set if you have the space. You never know. Bang on a set of winter/all season tyres - you'll be flying around.
I have a same, and i very happy with my wheels! Great Joel. it was time to change them! heheh
Thanks Judas

James has Csl on his Z4,smart looking wheel on the Z4
Yeah James’ CSL reps look great. I love the OEM look with the MV2s

Totally!
Run flats are terrible
Had those same exact wheels come with mine. Only issue I had was cleaning all those spokes !! Aha loving the classic wheels!
Great to have a nice garage to work in.....
It is, much thanks to James
Looking awesome they look better on bigger wheels 😎
Thanks James, I’m happy with the change!
Much much better!

That James dude is such a hunk!
I've heard he wants a new girlfriend, so might be available soon!
Lucas Diniz sources very close to me say that this is in fact false, shame really
@@katherinestenning5000 damn shame, I was gonna compete against you. I reckon I would have won.
Lucas Diniz oh gosh I’m sorry I hadn’t realised you identified as female. May the best woman win!
@@katherinestenning5000 I don't. We're just Z4 owners.
Mv2s look superb. Great choice
Cheers Adam!
Wheel fail as far as I'm concerned, 108 split rims are the only wheel upgrade for an E85.
I have 108's both on my z4 and on my e46 😍
Think they are ugly

Each to their own, I like the 108s too but you can’t have every style on! 😂
It's about priorities :) If you value aesthetics you can do it. It's one of the easiest mods to do and the money spent can be returned.
Joel- What is that great sounding exhaust / muffler you've got on your Zed?
That garage door is rediculously small. Great wheels!
Way more better wheels!
Rims look great!
Thanks!
Great video Joel and cool looking set of new wheel on your car and I look forward to the next garage time.
I’ve always liked those wheels! Classy choice dude!
Glad you like them too
hi mate, new sub and a fellow BMW enthusiast. Own a 116i sport just now, looking at getting into an M2 soon

No problem mate, enjoying the garage time content.Just waiting on the next instalment😎
#1 on your to do list - normal size garage door :)
David Newman that’s very kind of you to offer! I’ll send over my bank details so you can pay

Typo 18" apologies
Coilovers and a little bit of offset would be nice.
;D, keep it up, great videos!
Look bloody good bro...
Thanks mate!
Hi Joel, a question. Have you not thought about putting a rear bumper and the led taillights of the facelift?
Very nice. I like the new wheels. Enjoy.
Should put black alloys on..
Love your vids!
Thank you Colin
Keep one of the wheels as a spare for replacing your non run flat wheels if it goes flat
Looks great. I’m thinking of buying a z4 I’ve seen a 2 litre or a 2.5 l what would you go for? Thanks
Hey Joel I've got a spare flap for the p/s if you want it for free? It doesn't have the little tabs that you twist around to lock it in place but you could fashion some other way to fasten it easily enough.
Yes please that would be fantastic! Would you be able to drop me a line at hello@itsjoel.co.uk so we can talk further? Many thanks!!
Nice!
Easy DIY would be to paint the calipers... preferably silver, but that’s my opinion
Yeah, I’d like to do that actually
Got them mv2 s on mine
100% improvement
Were standard on mine though
Cheers, definitely an improvement!
Nice one! Out of interest Joel, how low is that jack? Sounds like an odd question but I have Eibach springs on my Z4 and have to drive it on to a couple of planks before I can get my jack under it.
Alun Rees it’s a low profile jack
James Pickering cheers James. I’ve got about 95-100mm of clearance under my jacking point, do you think it would fit?
Amazing video Bro
Looks really good tho
First like, go on!!!
looks like you have a reverse light out on the right side.
Isn't that the e60 m sport wheels?
Slightly different but look very similar!
Actually I liked the old wheels. I have a set of light covers if you need them.
Those are equivalent to the ZHP wheels here in the us! i got them on my car :)
Aww man I miss my Z4 😭😭😭
Bien plus joli 👍
Looks good, not my style because i think it looks too standard. Also you could fit 2 wheels on the passenger seat
Poly bush next 👍
Your dad is going to want a set of these wheels for his car once he sees them.. :-)
It’s funny, he said again how much he loves his!

Do you have any rubbing issues?
Not that I’ve noticed!
Don't change the colours of the rims. They are much cooler in this colour imo 🤷♂️
How much? My wheels are pretty dinged up, refurb is probably cheaper though
A kneeling pad will save your knees. ; )
Am I missing something? They look exactly the same. Visit JP Details and do a collab!
James is Jenson button brother ?
Give your old wheel's to your dad
David Bates yeah he is my brother! He says hi
you tighten nuts, not bolts.
I’ll have ur old wheels
but the tires look worn and bald
Yep, I’ll be getting some fresh rubber very soon
Mine r 20 lol
I'll subscribe when you stop wearing tracksuit trousers. They are awful!
Obviously, please wear something, not just pants.
😂😂😂
You and James are such a cute couple 👍
