I love something's in the water. This guy is great I never watched anything past that and the rest of anything I've ever watched is phenomenal. SEXY....LMAO
Pokey's grandpa planted the seed of love for music in his heart as a youngsta! My how the roots have grown and spread! Mr.Lafarge you sir are a true lyricist 🤟🤟
My girl and I saw Pokey and the boys at a music festival in town. You could tell from the expression on people's faces that they had no clue what to expect....I elbowed my girl lightly and said "watch their faces when the band starts" as expected 2 Pokey fans entered that tent and 502 Pokey fans exited that tent.....
this is what keeps me sane. it lets me know that im not the only one out there keeping the flame burning, and also lets me know that there IS STILL TALENT in music, despite the shit you hear on the radio...
Was introduced to Pokey by my dad a few years ago, rediscovered him today, I can't believe I forgot how good his music was. This song is one of my favorites.
No comment since 11 years ? I will give you a really positive one. Your music is still number one for me.If you are in a bad mood, listen to this music and everything will be alright.🤩🤩😊😊🥳🥳
He's such a sweet guy to be around. I was really scared the day before yesterday when I met him to get a picture, and he just held out a hand and said "come right between us, darlin' ". Ryan (the harmonica player) just put his arm on my shoulder, and Pokey put his arm around my waist, and we got a great picture. Ryan seemed happy to see me, since he had been making silly faces at me for two hours the previous day. Over all, their my heroes in music.
how come this kid still isnt famous all around the world? he is very talented. i am from brazil, i saw his show in san francisco in 2008. he became my idol right away
Whoever said its basically the same melody and chord progression as Blind Willie McTell's "Oh Lord Please Send Me Angel" with a few minor changes has it about right. But by those rules, Led Zeppelin never wrote an original song either. Good stuff.
He references it in the first line of the song ! “I know that you’ve heard this one before ....” the thing is he flipped it into a break up song instead of asking for an angel. “ but you ain’t heard it as you was walking out the door”
love this musical pictures running through my head....Tom sayer fishing & trains, singing & playing just for the love & enjoyment of it, real people super good, respect..xx
@@ClassicCountry-tt7ro As an engineer, it's eminently obvious to me that you're just blowing smoke up your own ... Dangerous when one's FOS. Bye, Felix.
Anyone else feel like sippin' some sweet tea from the porch in Mississippi with this song playing softly and beads of sweat from the southern heat slowly coming down their face?
I've heard a hundred bands that sound very similar. I'm not saying they're bad but I wouldn't say they're that unique. People have been playing this kind of music for a long time.
Absolutely not true. These guys are unique, because they're current. I agree that this sort of americana sound has been around forever, but few artists are still keeping it relevant. These guys are a gem in a sea of mainstream EDM music, and I cherish them for that.
You've got to be kidding. Where have you been the last decade? Americana roots music exploded after O Brother and now pop folk music like the Avetts and Mumford even play at the Grammys. Sorry but you can find a band like this in hundreds of bars and other venues across the country. Maybe it's unique to you but not to the rest of the music scene.
You're not seriously comparing this act to the Avett Brothers or Mumford and Sons.. Sure, it's all similar in the sense that it is "folk" music, but that term encompasses so many different sub-genres. These guys are experimenting with ragtime and western swing, whereas someone like the Avett Brothers are more alt-country/neo-folk. Besides, I wasn't arguing that Pokey was a one of a kind artist. I was simply stating that they have a distinct sound, which is always recognizable when I hear them.
I'm not saying they're exactly alike but you admit that they're similar and fall into the same genre. I am well aware of the many varieties of folk music. But like I said, even this specific sub genre of folk is not all that rare or unique. And if you're saying that they're recognizable then that's fine but I honestly don't care too much if a band is recognizable. A lot of bands are recognizable. And not always in a good way. But whatever. This is pretty much a pointless discussion. Later.
Ryan went crazy on the harmonica that day. Both him and Pokey got hyper on coffee that day, and eventually had a slappy fight in the middle of a song on stage. It was hilarious! Ryan almost pushed pokey off the stage! :D
ran into these few at a small grocery in manitu.....i was staing at there amazing sticker filled van on the lot and stopped to chat. Put on a real good show at the frontrange BBQ hope to see them there again this summer
A breath of fresh air. Making me reminiscent of a time I didn’t even exist in

Congratulations on ONE MILLION views of this video, Pokey! You sure do St. Louis Proud!
a breath of fresh air in a world of crap music
There’s plenty good music. You just gotta be willing to weed through all the bad. I suggest “helplessness blues” by fleet foxes.
I love this song. First saw Pokey on the Jools Holland Show and the band is brilliant!
+Andrew Butcher YUP
Pokey is a 2020 savior.

Maybe Americana. This isn’t country. Not even from the south.

Love the harmonika playing!!!!!!!
These guys rocked the opening for Jack White, had to go listen somemore!!!
I met pokey at the shetland folk festival. And the three. They are amazing. Great band and great group of very eccentric individuals.
Whoever said its basically the same melody and chord progression as Blind Willie McTell's "Oh Lord Please Send Me Angel" with a few minor changes has it about right. But by those rules, Led Zeppelin never wrote an original song either. Good stuff.
That you knew to make the comparison is astonishing. You've introduced me to BWM.
Well there are earlier versions of the progression bo weevil jackson's pistol blues
Rory Gallaghers great take on that ...
He references it in the first line of the song ! “I know that you’ve heard this one before ....” the thing is he flipped it into a break up song instead of asking for an angel. “ but you ain’t heard it as you was walking out the door”
There's nothing new under the sun.
