Wasn’t «officially» diagnosed with any form of OCD but I had some intense and fearful, repetitive thought patterns for about a year. Had some minor improvements, then discovered your channel and applied your techniques. You explained everything so well, and I kept watching your videos and learned everything I needed to fully recover from this. Can safely say I am all good now and happier than I’ve been in a long time. Recovery is definetely possible and probably easier than you might think, but it does require some effort! Thank you very much Ali Greymond for your work, it’s truly honorable and you make lives better every day. And to everyone suffering stay strong there is definetely light at the end of the tunnel :)

What kind of thoughts did you have and how did you overcome it?

I really wish more people knew about pure o ocd/harm ocd! I’m 18 and come from a low income, shitty family so most of my therapists were low quality/students still in training and barely had any experience with ocd, let alone pure o. It hurts when I tell them I have ocd and they deny it since my ocd isn’t the kind where you switch lights on and off or obsessively wash your hands. I started getting debilitating symptoms at 14 and wasn’t even aware of what it was until 16 (thanks to the internet), my therapists simply thought it was ptsd and mdd.

Your story is very common, it has happened to many people who suffer from pure O such as myself.. I recommend you watch Ali videos. You can fully recover! Disregard and push through.

@ARMY WarOfBangtan It sucks other people have to go through this but it’s also nice to know you aren’t alone. What’s great is my pure o has actually improved a lot on its own without doing any treatment. Not sure if it was from taking antidepressants for almost a year or because I got older and learned to be more in control of my feelings. I also got into spirituality; that’s probably the main thing that helped since it has a lot of useful teachings like non attachment. I still plan to seek treatment for my ocd tho once I’m able to. Thank you for the tips.

I understand. My parents do not believe that pure ocd is a real diagnosis and so they don't believe anything is wrong and won't let me get help at all

Thank you! Everyone says ocd thoughts are not based on truth but in my case... my current ocd theme arose from a true incident that happened with me and from then on I spiralled down the rabbit hole of rumination and compulsions. I don't think anyone on the internet knows or explains ocd the way you do. I wish i was as knowledgeable about ocd as you are then i mighy not have even started with my new ocd theme.

What if you just can’t accept that something from the past happened?? You just can not accept that you dis something in the past, that this particular event happened at in the past and you hate that you made the decisions that resulted in this past event that you hate so much and it is making you wonder if you will ever feel your happiest again? Like you try and try to just accept that it happened and move on but it just keeps popping back in your head? What do I do then?
Any help and insight would be incredible appreciated and it will be life saving for me and hopefully others as well!

Hey buddy. Sounds like you're wrestling with similar themes /thoughts to myself. One thing that I learnt from another channel is that certain thoughts will lock on if we don't get to the bottom of why we are so scared of this thought. In my case it's a fear of being judged by others and being outcast etc. Once I worked that fear out and was honest with myself it helped me to start accepting what I was ultimately seeing as being unacceptable.
There's a spiritual teacher on UA-cam who believes that surrendering to our thoughts and fears and being more present (5 senses) is the key to escaping our minds. What matters is what is right now? I think many of us are anxious about something we are scared will happen or living back a memory or mistake. Simply put we need to be honest with ourselves and present in the now and stopping all the compulsions as a starting point. I hope that angle helps some for you.

@@mrbobajango7482 mine is that I missed out on certain experiences and opportunities that I’ll never have again in my life and I’ve heard ppl talk about how great those certain experiences are.
Or just certain events in my life that have happened to me that I wish didn’t and how I could of done things differently to prevent them if I could and how I would be at my happiest if I could.

@@austinp9939 I can understand that's something a person would ruminate on. All you can do is practice acceptance and focus on creating positive opportunities for yourself in the future. Take comfort in knowing that many people have experienced missed opportunities or taken paths that didn't quite work out. Life is a learning experience and those missed opportunities don't have to be the end of the world. Keep watching Ali's videos she has some great tips on overcoming repetitive /intrusive thoughts. 👍

@ARMY WarOfBangtan I know accepting that you can’t change the past and learning from it so that you can be a better person is the RIGHT thing to do but what if you just feel like you can’t do it even when you keep trying over and over?

Has anybody recovered from Solipsism ocd? I just don't hear about it much and I'm worried given the nature of it that maybe its something you don't exactly recover from....

    • @shaughnmay7501
      @shaughnmay7501 3 роки тому +3

You absolutely can recover from it because I did. What you need to do and PLEASE TRUST ME because I felt just as scared as you did, you need to take every single thought that keeps popping up about the topic and just say 'yeah, totally. This feeling and these thoughts are here forever and they're never going away' and if the anxiety is too much just simply let the thoughts pop up as much as they'd like and accept that they're there. Don't try to get rid of them because if you do, your ocd is going to send more and not let up. Once you force yourself to allow these thoughts, emotions and perspectives to happen over and over again, your ocd will get the idea and stop sending them. Please trust me on this I know it sounds scary and your ocd is telling you this one is different but it's not. It's always ocd's game to make you think that. Does that make sense and help at all? Please ask if you have any questions.

@@shaughnmay7501 Yes, that makes sense. I'm just scared by how much right now it feels like I believe this thought. Of course, I'm terrified too, and I saw Ali's video on how true the thoughts feel correlates to how scared you are by them. But I get so many weird thoughts about this popping in I feel brainwashed. I want to be able to feel 'confident' in what I believe in, even if there is no way to prove it.

@@Megan-zp2rb the hard truth that you gotta understand is that OCD will always been one step ahead of you. All of these different thoughts feelings that are weird and different are ALL apart of OCD. If you pick and choose what might feel like ocd and what isn't then you're not gonna get better. If it's repeating itself over and over and feels like an urgent thing you have to figure out, it's ocd. Any more questions I'd be glad to help 😁
