- Marsaxlokk, Malta Walking Tour | No. 1 day trip from Valletta.
Marsaxlokk is a small, fishing village on the South East coast of Malta. It's famous for its picturesque harbour, brightly painted fishing boats known as luzzu and kajjik (with their characteristic painted eyes on the prow - 'the Eye of Osiris',) and the Marsaxlokk Market. This is a major fish market that takes place on Sundays - the tourist market taking place the rest of the week.
Filmed on a Sunday, we'll see part of the fish market as well as some of the most noted restaurants along the way.
We begin our walk on a jetty at the end of Xatt is-Sajjieda, the road that stretches along the seafront. The bright luzzu and kajjik boats bob in the harbour, their characteristic blue, red, yellow and green paintwork reflected in the water. It's immediately obvious why Marsaxlokk is one of the best day trips from Valletta, and leads the top 10 things to do in Malta if you're visiting.
There's so many places to eat in Marsaxlokk, many with gorgeous views over the harbour - from Costa Coffee to Harbour Lights, Roots Restaurant, La Nostra Padrona Restaurant, Pisces Restaurant Marsaxlokk and Cafe De Paris - naming just a few.
It's a perfect place to sit out and people watch - but make sure to book if you're visiting on a Sunday.
We continue our walk by following Triq Il Wilga, passing the rated Tartarun restaurant and Terrone to follow the line of boats out to the end of the quay.

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm glad you enjoy these kind of video's. We believe there's something special about 'slow TV' with no music or point of view. We love your channel too, shall we subscribe to each other? All the best to you.
wow. Everything is so colorful! And the buildings are ancient. Looks like it was an amazing visit. Thanks for sharing. I've wanted to go to Malta but I want to avoid summer crowds if possible. Very cool. -Henry
Hi Henry, it's a special place we agree, as you say I'm not sure I'd like it so much in summer. This was taken in February and the crown and winter sun level was just right.
Great video. I really love the location. The exotic feel just makes the walk a real adventure for the viewer. Enjoying the content. 👌🏻👍🏻
