I'm very happy to watch Jermaines performance. I wish more People would appreciate what a amazing talented Guy he is and stop all the cruel talking. It really makes me sad.
He's the man, alright. But he's not really playing that bass part. Check at 1:30. The sound coming out is octaves, which looking closely, he's clearly playing single notes.
Jermaine and Tito were seriously underrated musicians. They weren't the greatest around but they were just as good as most of their contemporaries in rock and r&b who get mentioned as inspiring someone as a young player.
Jermaine Jackson was and is very underrated, I wish that he would go out on the road and perform his own catalog. I think that he would be surprised at how many people would know his stuff !
That's what i didn't like about their tour, they mostly focused on Michael's songs, when they had great songs of their own, they could have done a segment devoted to Michael and the J5 but should have made it their own,imo
Everybody got caught up in 'MichealMania' but the real fans know Jermaine as an incredibly talented bass player & songwriter especially during that solo period...much props to Jermaine LaJuane Jackson!!!
Until finally the video of one of the most beautiful songs that exists, I am dj in Brazil, I played this song many times on the dance floors in 1978, thanks for posting.
do you remember the disco club name where you played this track ? For many times I was in a club called 2001 in pinheiros SP, and this track was sacred to play every weekends.
Jermaine is a very talented and underrated artist/musician. He should get back out there and tour again in the United States (not just overseas). I'm sure he can easily join some packaged old school R&B type tour
When he's 80 years old, I want to look back with him and say "Remember when we met 15 years ago? It's been a blast since then. Thank you for making it so."
@Preston White It's a thing metaphysicians who studied under Neville Goddard do when planning their future. They imagine a future scene that has not yet happened as if it already has. They say "I remember when..." It worked for me when I wanted to escape the terrible depression I suffered. I said long ago "I remember when I used to be depressed." Today I am NOT. So basically I was imagining that it is way in the future and I have met & known Jermaine for 15 years and it's been a blast since we met. That is all. It was an inside mental exercise I call Nevillizing. Didn't mean for anyone to scratch their heads about it. It can't be understood anyway UNLESS one knows of Neville Goddard.

Bless Jermaine's heart (and talent level). Jermaine is a serious singer. He can sing all the notes, maintain the tempo, soar in the runs, and has the talent to return perfectly to the root note. Indeed, he is a professional singer. As it was, he had a satisfactory career, and made a lot of money, etc. But he was seriously held back by what I think was inferior material coming from Motown in the mid to late 70's. Jermaine makes the case that Stevie, the Commodores and Rick James was able to successfully do: Write, and produce their own material and sound. The sound of this song was about TWO YEARS LATE for the record buying market place in 1977. It also had the sound of a 'second' release from an album________the first release would have to either be more hard hitting or tons more melodic. Along with that, record company directors and arrangers needed to get Jermaine settled on his sound, and then be consistent in writing to that sound. Anyway, kudos to Jermaine for handling what was before him.

Jermaine had lots of talent. His problem is I think he had no good consistent material to work with. When with Motown they had the best music writers in the world which made the Jackson 5 hit after hit. When the Jacksons broke up Jermaine had no good material coming in as I don't think Jermaine wrote his own stuff. I bet if Jermaine had access to the Motown writers his career would have taken off like Micheals. Micheal was obviously lucky enough to have access to some good producers. But even to this day I think Micheals best stuff was when he was with the Jackson 5/Motown.
The brothers didn’t have the passions and drive he had and on top of that Jermaine didn’t have the versatility or the risk taking Michael nor Janet had….nor the stage presence.
Acredito que o play back seja apenas dos trompetes e sax´s ... Ma s este video é uma preciosidade..... Ja "downloadei" para com a minha coleção de mais de 1.100 videos da epoca...esse eu procurava ha anos.

Seems pretty practical and very smart. Your whole progression is with a small amount of space or box vs climbing up and down the neck.
This is bitter sweet cuz this was the first time he was totally alone as an artist. He chose to be a solo act when the brothers went to CBS.
Damn say everybody was stressed out n 76-83 over Jermaine n j5 breakup
I'm very happy to watch Jermaines performance. I wish more People would appreciate what a amazing talented Guy he is and stop all the cruel talking. It really makes me sad.
susio72 ..its only mj fans keep comparing his brothers to him..Jermaine is extronary talent.
Jermaine was and is still bad ass..he had his own lane. One of the coldest bass players..
So true I wanted to see if any other of the Jackson 5 besides Michael Jackson made it on to make solos to and liked jermine Jackson the most.
agreed
I know, a long time I was only a MJ Fan, but now I appreciate the whole Jackson family ❤️
Skills to play the bass and sing at the same time and sounds good too...TALENTED brother
Kevin King a lot of people are sleeping on Jermaine
He's the man, alright. But he's not really playing that bass part. Check at 1:30. The sound coming out is octaves, which looking closely, he's clearly playing single notes.
Kev E. Kev he's really playing though just over a track
Kevin King Joe Jackson beat him to to be perfect
Yes Kev, ma boi doesn't get the credit he deserve, for playing and singing without messing up. That takes skill.
Jermaine and Tito were seriously underrated musicians. They weren't the greatest around but they were just as good as most of their contemporaries in rock and r&b who get mentioned as inspiring someone as a young player.
Exactly!!!...I would deal with the Hair Club for Men to have a perm with volume & bounce like that!!!!
Tito as a guitarist is underrated itself
@@stacyharris9008 LoveJermaine
Tito teach Jermaine how to play Jermaine said it himself
I always wanted sing an play bass. An I do but i got clarke style but the vocalist is definitely not him but I'm working on it
I remember seeing this on tv back in 1977.

Jermaine Jackson is a accomplished bass player and vocalist, composer and producer, also Tito who is also is a accomplished guitarist

I love the song just he to young to sing it. He roughly in his early 20s talking about being young tonight
Jermaine can sing but theres nothing special about his voice. just a regular run of the mill male RnB voice
What show is this from?
He's one of my music heroes but @1:30 as a bass player it doesn't add up

I wonder, do any bass players see what's wrong at 1:30?
what? looks fine to me
Well for one he's play synching. His bass isn't even plugged in. Very popular back then. As far as the octave jumps he appears to be using some open fingerings to move around..like an economy of motion kinda thing...that way your not looking all over your fretboard during the octave jump progression while trying to sing. Seems pretty practical and very smart. Your whole progression is with a small amount of space or box vs climbing up and down the neck.
