The way he disassembled the bug puppet so suddenly, just tearing the top half from the bottom, the puppet instantly losing all personality, going limp and lifeless, it was off-putting.
Imagine stepping into a closet where Muppets like Kermit are stored. Characters always full of life and energy laying dead, or hanging like skins laid out to dry. people who have seen the Muppets puppets not being used have always described it as creepy and off putting because your brain makes them a person, gives them life when they never had any and you don't think twice about this cloth person not being a living creature, same with his hand puppets. Dabchick laying out on the table is a bit creepy when I'm used to seeing him in videos emoting and moving

Man, even taking into account the fact that I could see Barnaby and his hands, the puppets' movements were so convincing. It was a blast to watch this.
Lol I love watching Adam act like a kid in a candy store because it shows he is genuine. Which is what I love so many people are fake but this is real. Good work guys.
I come back to this video so often. It’s such a ray of sunshine! Barnaby is so talented and humble, and Adam is so enthusiastic and eager to learn. They seem like such natural friends.
Give this man enough time and resources and he could build an actual mech suit that functions purely through mechanical means without any electrical charge
I think they must've gone over the questions beforehand? Or maybe Barnaby just practiced the question he was sure would be asked. Either way, this might've been scripted to SOME extent. Don't lose faith! No matter where you come from, if you practice enough, your speaking skills will improve, no doubt!
You're seeing interviews with the smart and successful ones who were good enough at what they do and smart enough to achieve a certain level of recognition for their talent and work. I'm sure if you saw interviews with soccer hooligans, Geordies (sp?) who act like they're on "jersey shore",, lower class cockney workmen...et cetera than you wouldn't feel the same way.
Barnaby is the only creator I support on patreon. He’s a down to earth and genuinely funny guy, with great content So glad he’s here on tested. Will do wonders for his following/career
Makers are one of the most supportive, inquisitive and interested in other makers. I don’t find a lot of competition which is so refreshing. Adam is always so energized by watching and discovering other makers.
The most amazing thing about puppeteers and ventriloquists is, if they're good, the puppets take on such a life of it's own that you no longer see them as puppets. Almost like the puppeteer has a split personality and the secondary personality exists in the puppet rather than through the puppet.
The amount of life that he puts into these puppets is amazing. Something that particularly stuck out to me was at 15:58 it sits down in his hand, and then stretches, and the whole puppet shudders a little bit with the stretch, which is such a nice detail and makes it all the more believable.
Here's the thing that startled me about this: given something that Barnaby said early on in the piece, I feel that unequivocally celebrating him is a little hypocritical on Adam's part, and here's why: Barnaby's trying to patent the ENTIRE IDEA of this kind of hand/accessory puppet (search "patent WO2017207990A3"). Obviously, no one should be able to copy his characters, nor sell them. But if that patent is awarded, no one else (including Adam) will be able to make ANY kind of two hand/costume puppet without being in violation of said patent. That seems to me like "...treating something as a scarce commodity, when it is not scarce at all" (from Adam’s talk at the 2018 Bay Area Maker Faire on May 23). Maybe that's not the intent, but that's what it seems like to me.
I mean, there's a balance there, because he's come up with a new form of puppet, and there's very little to stop someone else seeing how he did it and producing them to sell without him seeing a cent.
I think it would be cool to make a baby dragon with the same "aardvark" base with an even longer swinging tail and baby-like wings showing they are too small to fly yet. Then just mass produce them and sell them to Renascence fairs around the world and toy companies and your good to go. People LOVE dragons so I figure it would be a good start.
uhhhh hate to disappoint you bud, but nobody "loves" dragons, half as much as you believe. That's just for weird DeviantArt freaks, Bronies, and Furries, coincidentally all of these have a crossover with BadDragon customers. Most of the world doesn't even think about dragons lmao.

I've never seen, or heard of this guy! It's a wonderful thing you do Adam, helping showcase young talented people so we can enjoy there gift, Thank you Adam and everyone at AST.
That plastic btw, if it's what I think, is polycaprolactone. It's sold under all sorts of names, the stuff I've used is called Polymorph but I think it's all the same material so brand doesn't matter. I think the reason it's not a huge thing with makers is it's not patented so nobody can make much money selling it, so there's not much advertising/marketing. The plus side of that is, it's pretty cheap! I love the stuff, so versatile and easy to work with. Seriously, half the time people 3D print something they'd be better off sculpting it from PCL. Quicker, easier, and stronger.
I had the stuff lying around for over a year and never realised that dabchick was made from it. I agree, especially with the 3D printing sidenote ;) Amazing stuff that really comes in handy at every crafting occasion.
Polymorph! Oh wow. I have a bag of that stuff from the 90's from a "robotics kit" that was sold by association with a robotics challenge TV show on BBC (not Robot Wars, the other one). Wonder where I left it...
As a child, my hands were the most expressive toys I had. They we're civilians, heros, animals and monsters all in one. It's pretty great to see this guy take it ten steps further like this.
I love the fact that Adam has this inner child in himself, like 90% of his personality is that child trapped inside the physicality of a full grown man.
I just watched Barnaby's puppet work in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I recognised his style as the puppet show Gelfling within a puppet show in Episode 7.

Seeing Adam’s amazement is pretty neat. You can tell he is genuinely amazed by the technology here.
Lol I love watching Adam act like a kid in a candy store because it shows he is genuine. Which is what I love so many people are fake but this is real. Good work guys.
16:00 I love how Barnaby makes them so.. Bubbly and cute and gosh this man is magical xD
I come back to this video so often. It’s such a ray of sunshine! Barnaby is so talented and humble, and Adam is so enthusiastic and eager to learn. They seem like such natural friends.
Dabchick was so well behaved here! 😂😂😂
That’s because he’s not drunk or eating mushrooms.
Mary Udomah yeah trust me i watched that video
Molly Williams he was sober that's why
Seeing dabchick laying out on the table is uncomfortable and distressing.
Dabchick just takes a nap, my friend l.
It's slightly five nights at freddy's-ish.
Just the sort of disassembled lifelike animatronic aspect.
What bothered me more than that is he picked up only half of Dabchick
Our poor baby.
Something about dabchick not having his voice is weird. And hearing/seeing Barnaby himself is strange to me haha
Give this man enough time and resources and he could build an actual mech suit that functions purely through mechanical means without any electrical charge
Mecha gloves seem more likely.
@@Valkonnen Very similar concept, just vastly different scale.
How did you comment while on my shelf?
Isn't that basically clothes but with thicker parts.
Look up certain cosplayers. Some people actually have built mechanical Hulkbuster suits.
Why do English people always seem so damn professional and quick to answers. Really makes me wish I grew up over there lol
I think they must've gone over the questions beforehand? Or maybe Barnaby just practiced the question he was sure would be asked. Either way, this might've been scripted to SOME extent. Don't lose faith! No matter where you come from, if you practice enough, your speaking skills will improve, no doubt!
There's smart people in every race. There's plenty of idiots too.

Yeah true, I've been watching the UK Discovery ID channel and holy crap there's some bad apples
He’s been interviewed a bunch & makes all these puppets himself, so I’m sure he talks about this every day.
He’s a down to earth and genuinely funny guy, with great content
So glad he’s here on tested. Will do wonders for his following/career
Makers are one of the most supportive, inquisitive and interested in other makers. I don’t find a lot of competition which is so refreshing. Adam is always so energized by watching and discovering other makers.
the dino-puppet is definitely my favourite. if you haven't seen it you should really head over to barnaby's channel and watch it! :)
Yeah the dino is really cute.
I like the tiki tribal guy he's my favourite

This video opened my eyes to the actual amount of detail that goes into these teenie puppets, amazing 😯
These are some of the coolest puppets I’ve ever seen! It’s almost hypnotizing to watch them move!
The most amazing thing about puppeteers and ventriloquists is, if they're good, the puppets take on such a life of it's own that you no longer see them as puppets. Almost like the puppeteer has a split personality and the secondary personality exists in the puppet rather than through the puppet.
The Adam puppet looks like it's screaming in the background

*_EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE_*
Or like he just busted a fat nut?
I have no mouth and I must scream.
There aren’t many things that can fill me with childish joy but these puppets do. The cleverness of it all is almost magical!
huge fan of barnaby, it was awesome seeing him on Tested. Would love to have him come back.
The amount of life that he puts into these puppets is amazing. Something that particularly stuck out to me was at 15:58 it sits down in his hand, and then stretches, and the whole puppet shudders a little bit with the stretch, which is such a nice detail and makes it all the more believable.
I can’t wait for Adam to One Day Build his own
I would like to add my name to this petition.
more than a one day build tbh but an interctive black light set for these puppets would be awesome
I’m seriously considering doing something g with my 3D printer. Maybe something less organic, like a robot.
The aardvark/porcupine has so much personality, i love it! It feels alive
Must say that IT IS ADORABLE seeing adam geek out over Dixon. ❤
I love Barnaby Dixon so much. So glad to see that he's getting more and more recognition for his amazing work.
slap on a Green screen and suit and bam a new form of movies are born 👌
I'm hopeful that we get these puppetry in movies. I'd would be so refreshing to see puppetry used in movies again.
FLUXXEUS something with an isle of dogs-muppets theme would be amazing :0
John Doe shut up, why do you think so many people still know what dragons are
RARI dino LMAO WHAT?! Everybody knows what witches and wizards are too dumbfuck. Your pfp and name explains a lot about your asinine reply. You dragonfucking deviantart losers need to chill.
John Doe also go get laid, you’re getting emotional over fictional creatures as if you speak for the entire human race
@@spleens4200 But I do get laid, fairly often. I'm not emotional just because I use mean words :( sowwi guys I'll only say positive things no matter how stupid somebody else is pls forgie me
That's incredible. The bird was so lifelike that Adam couldn't help but talk to it like it were a real bird. Even seeing all the visible mechanics of it, I can still barely convince my brain it's not alive.
Then he might as well be alive, lol
excuse me....
his name is dabchick
I don’t think I have ever commented on a UA-cam video before but this needed to be said, Thank you sooooo much for letting me know that this guy exists. He is brilliant! Beautiful creations. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go tell everyone I know about his videos!
I love the bug so much I cant even put it into words. It's so damn adorable. Imagine if he made a scorpion like one.
I love how the adam puppet is just staring at you throughout the video in the background
Now we know why Dabchick needed a shave. Gotta be presentable,
It's so like him to pretend to be mute. He always takes the piss.

Oh, shut up.
Adam is awesome. Offering his studio to him is precious. Im so glad the two of them met. Pay attention folks, i swear this kid will be a modern Walt Disney, but better and with a different medium.

Soooo amaizing! For me as a puppeteer it's a big honor meet people like Barnaby. Let the world meet the magical power of puppetry art.
I was waiting for Dabchick to come to life and start yelling at Adam. "What are you looking at?"
Two of my favorite youtubers in the same video!?!
My favorite streamer, once played with my favorite gaming UA-camr on my favorite game

Yeah, barnaby’s made it to the top
I don’t really classify Adam Savage as a youtuber. I see him more as a badass that mellowed out a little and now does UA-cam.
This is pure gold geek talk -- I Love it! Look at how quickly the conversation flows and how well they understand each other!
Barnaby Dixon needs to record audio books
He sings like an angel!! You should listen to his latest cover, is on his last video, check it out.
Great to see Barnaby Dixon finally get some great exposure for the AMAZING work he does!!! I’ve been following his work for a long time an it is an absolutely work of art!!!
Wikipedia says trade names include "Plastimake, NiftyFix, Protoplastic, InstaMorph, Polymorph, Shapelock, ReMoldables, Plastdude or TechTack"
You should do some videos on making!
I buy that stuff from Amazon as Polly Plastics
0:25 choking my puppet after puppeterring it :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that, also the fact that the thought that came to me was "THERE CAN ONLY BE OOOONE!" XD!
I came to comment something similar..
The puppets are so cute and they really do look like a completely different organism like adam said
I just watched Barnaby's puppet work in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I recognised his style as the puppet show Gelfling within a puppet show in Episode 7.
