i feel this episode, &..its so good ........ i daily my stripped down 69' Datsun roadster with a JDM s14 sr20det notchtop motor with the disco potato bbt .... pushing 300hp.... at about 1800lbs on the curb .... you must operate with respect or it will go rear-end first on ya...... but everything you do in this car feels like a re-entry in a space capsule... driving it gives you the most amazing feelings and sounds.... just pulling onto the freeway is very exciting... making 100k cars stand still and seeing the jaws drop is well worth it....

Unsafe maybe but on the other hand Ive ridden motorcycles for 20 yrs. Supermoto hooning, fast bikes and touring so compaired to a bike you still have 4 wheels and a cage even airbag and abs if you choose to. So for a biker this is a big step up in saftey. Just sayin. .. Bike helmet and and bike leather jacket to protekt outer arm if flipped and skraping and your golden. Sure more unpredictable but still a bike can kill you if there is a bit of sand och pebbles on the road so...

Lotus and Colin Chapman is the more famous pioneer of in his own words
' simplify and add lightness',the concept goes back about another 50 years before lotus started on 1948,in the Uk and across Europe events like the Mille Miglia the cars were basicly the same, not much power as engineering quality was still evolving and the cars were often made with a wood chassis with cloth or leather for some kind of minimalist bodywork so very light
a lot of small company car makers carried the theme just colin made the idea mainstream/famous with the mk1 and it steamrolled onwards

    LOVE... THIS... VIDEO!!!
Sadly, while researching the subject for this comment, I became disillusioned with the exomotive exocet. :(
Here's why. For $10k, you get an exocet kit. You have to use a doner miata to bolt onto the exocet framing and basically assemble a tube-frame kit car. Great concept. However, what you get is a weight reduction of around 566lbs. For a 1990-1993 1.6L miata, that's a PWR increase of .0138 hp/lb... For $10k. To achieve the same power gains in a stock 1990-1993 miata, you would only need to increase the power output by 34hp. That's only a 29% increase over stock.
For ~$5,500, you can buy an all-inclusive supercharger kit that will bring that little 116hp miata up to 215hp. That's an 85% increase in power over stock. This also makes our new PWR at roughly .099 hp/lb. VS .0686 hp/lb with the exocet.
Therefore, just buying a supercharger makes a lot more sense. It's roughly half the price, half the work, and almost 3x the performance gain!
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love these tube design cars and the idea of the bare-bones car... Like, passionately. (Except that 3-wheeled thing, the Polaris Slingshot) But unless the project is 100% DIY, there's really no savings and marginal power gains. It's far more cost-effective to just add a supercharger and call it good.
That being said, it looks like my plan to reach my PWR goals with an LS swap still stands. It's still a $10k project, but I've been told that I can achieve the LS swap goal for less money. We'll see. I'm highly skeptical.
For those who do happen to find themselves tube-framing a neo-classic car like an NA miata or Integra. I would just kindly request that you do it to a body that's trashed or totaled. Don't ruin a perfectly good miata, integra, or corvette. These are practically collector's items these days. Just sell the good one and buy a scrapped one. Please. Pay it forward and think about the next guy. These are the new 67' Mustangs and 68' Camaros. Each year makes them harder to find. Don't believe me? Try buying an EG Civic today. You might find 4 for sale, nationwide.
The Buffalo is going extinct. :(
Great video, great content, great subject!
    Cheers.

Lots of great information thanks on the recommendation of a supercharger for 80% more power than a vehicle like exo car

    • @christopherlowery855
      @christopherlowery855 Місяць тому

@@Lexrrap 210hp is pushing it on stock internals. I don't know if I would push those little connecting rods above 200hp (just a guess. Wouldn't want to find out). That being said, you might need to tack on an extra $400-$600 to the build for a set of rings, rods and rod bearings. The stock pistons will easily last on that low of power numbers. Just run 93 octane and you'll be set. Still, that puts you at $4k below just the purchase price of an exocet.
An ITB built would be even easier with a healthy engine. You can easily gain 34hp with ITBs. Just don't expect to pass the 200hp mark. (Anyone is free to correct me here) Higher compression pistons, an overbore, aluminum connecting rods, a light weight flywheel (aluminum), and high RPM (higher pressure) valve springs will really help that kind of setup. I've been debating this kind of build on my NA.
