I have always been happy with my clearances. No, I can't turn 90 degrees but I can get darn close. I don't feel like the small amount of difference to 90 degrees would actually be beneficial at all. I feel I can get this anywhere that I could get it to if I had a 90-degree turning radius.
Let's go over the pros of the Andersen Hitch. #1 The price isn't bad when comparing it to other options. #2 For me at least I have a lot of clearance. I did have to reverse the Adapter as with it forward the back of the kingpin would hit the bed rails of my truck when I took a turn. So as counterintuitive as it was, I increased my clearance by reversing the adapter. #3 It's easy to remove. When comparing removing this hitch vs removing the B&W Slider I had before this is night and day different.
So let's talk about the cons of the Andersen Ultimate Hitch as well as any personal issues that I have had with it. #1 The biggest con I can think of is that it does put more strain on your Jacks which may cause them to wear out faster as you have to jack the whole camper high enough to clear the hitch. 2. Obviously they aren't the strongest hitches in the world, but I believe that if you aren't taking it to its maximum rating it does have a place in today's market. Truthfully I wouldn't trust any hitch after you were in a major accident. And the issues that I've had with the Andersen Hitch. 1. Last winter I went to pick up the camper from Shelburne RV and it was very cold. The pin was actually frozen solid. Steve was able to use some WD 40 on it and get it to loosen up, however, when we got to our destination which was Davy Crocket Birthplace State Park, it had frozen up again. I was unable to get the ball out. So I removed the ball from the Andersen frame and removed the adapter. After sitting in the camper for about 15 minutes, my balls thawed out and I was able to remove it. I used WD 40 quite generously on it and never had that happen again. The second issue that I had was on our trip to New Orleans a few months ago, the release handle just turned and turned and didn't unlock. I got around this again by removing the entire base and leaving the ball connected in the trailer. After I looked at it closer and removed the handle when we got home I noticed that the plastic handle had broken and just wasn't turning the shaft causing the pin to unlock. I contacted Andersen and they sent me a new handle free of charge. The only other problem that I had started about a year ago. My camper was down at Shelburne RV and I went to pick it up and Steve told me that the set screws in the Andersen adapter were stripped out. I talked to Andersen and they sent me four new screws again free of charge. However, when I went to look at it, it seemed fine.

Excellent in depth review. I'm in the process of upgrading from a bumper pull to a 5th wheel trailer. Definitely considering the Anderson. Thanks for your honest review.

It’s served me well. Just pulled it 700 miles this weekend but I’d still consider the Reese goosebox or the gen y gooseneck conversion

Had a similar experience with the amazing customer support through Anderson. I noticed some stress cracks on the aluminum hitch. I called Anderson with zero questions asked they sent me a new aluminum frame. Love my Anderson Ultimate

I'm glad you were able to get your balls thawed out. Got to hate it when they freeze up like that.

Informative for sure. I just bought this hitch for my new to me 30ft Forest River V-Cross. I'm in Northeast TN. Just outside of Kingsport. Where are you from?

We are based in SE TN near Chattanooga. We do have a lot of campground reviews in East TN
