- Sonic 06 is an infamous game. A game meant to celebrate the franchise’s 15th anniversary turned unfinished mess that almost everyone can’t stop hating on even 16 years after it released. However, there is a small minority that does like the game or at least some aspects of it, and I happen to be one of those people. Yeah, it’s bad, but there’s good to be had here. Charriii’s video on it meanwhile is a weird one because on one hand, he gets quite a bit right, but on the other hand, he gets a lot more than he should wrong. I still don’t know how I feel about his video, but what do I know is that he’s rather childish in this one.
Charriii's video is longer than his Undertale video yet shorter than his Doki Doki video, but somehow has more sins than both COMBINED! In any case, what's your favorite thing about Sonic 06? And no, nothing doesn't count as an answer.

Sonic 06, the game that basically nearly single handedly destroyed the sonic franchise, don't let that discourage you from buying it, as you still might enjoy it despite the many bugs, as for charriiis video, I remember watching it from beginning to end around when it first came out and liked it, im not sure if I'm gonna have a different view on it after this but will see, im excited

What now?
Sonic 06 is a game that ultimately could’ve been one of the greatest Sonic games ever if SEGA didn’t rush it. But despite its various issues and major flaws, it does get a few things right.
Both Shadow and Silver’s campaigns are well written. This is also probably the best Shadow has ever been written in my opinion. He doesn’t try to be edgy and he values both Rouge and Omega’s help. And he willingly helps Sonic out when he needs it without talking down to him. One of my favorite moments in this game is the final cutscene of Shadow’s campaign.
Then there’s Mephiles the Dark. One of if not the best Sonic villain ever. Everything from his design, to his theme, to his voice screams sinister. Whenever he’s on screen, he’s in control of the situation.
Then of course, there is the soundtrack. This game is filled with solid tracks from boss themes to location themes to character themes.
While this game may get a lot of things wrong, it also gets a lot of things right.

Despite the games flaws, there IS a lot to about it. Silver becoming one of my favorite Sonic characters, Mephiles is arguably the best Sonic villain ever, Iblis is an interesting beast, the serious moments really do hit hard such as Mephiles killing Sonic in front of Elise and Blaze dying, the boss fights were honestly great, the music was pretty alright. And even though the game is buggy, sometimes it's just fun to mess around with a game and have a laugh. So I'm probably with you and the minority, I genuinely love this game.

The game that introduced my favorite character, Silver the Hedgehog as well as my favorite villain, Mephilis. It makes me so sad that this game bombed so bad and killed Silver's chance of ever getting a solo game to himself. His powers and personality are so interesting and I hope that at least he will be utilised in future Sonic movies or TV shows.
Another thing is the loading screen my god there way to long and I thought the sonic boom ones were long, I can make a sandwich and come back and it’s still loading
It was the second Sonic game I've watched on UA-cam (the first was Sonic CD). In hindsight, this was a pretty bad semi-starting point. 😅

I just finished watching this again, and I decided to imagine that after Elise blew out Solaris, and she had stated the wind reminder of Sonic(somewhat), that Sonic and Elise met after the Festival and had a nice hangout. Which leads me to support Sonic and Elise's relationship
To tell the truth, after revisiting the game recently, I agree. Even though Elise isn't my favorite of Sonic's various love interests and I think their relationship should have been built up more, many of their interactions were sweet and I would have liked to see things work out for them in the end. Doesn't hurt that there's even a song about their relationship ("Sweet Dream", which plays over the credits of Sonic's story). As it stands, she's basically his Cosmo (although she didn't die, at least).
Their love really didn't have to be romantic and it genuinely looks more platonic. One thing though: I really wish it would be stated somewhere that she has the power to heal people or act as a chalice for energy, so the kiss scene would make sense not as a "Oh lemme kiss this dead ass hedgehog" and instead as "I will put my life at stake, for a fleeting chance to revive a hero, who gave everything to protect me, thus returning the favor to him"

Besides, if you take the romance out of this story, you're basically left with "Sonic Unleashed except Chip is a girl". I would concede, however, that it could have been executed much better than it was (which is true of '06 in general).

06 has been for me in all honestly been not only my 1st ever sonic game, But also the introduction into the sonic series! i was never hating this game, even later when i saw it's problems, reviews of what people think of this game, and played it again after all was said, shown and done i still liked 06 without any regret.
And it wasn't for the nogstalgia that i like 06, it was for the concept, potential, and execution of it's story and gameplay. Yes things could have changed to make it even better, but i already liked what we where given. and despite what the internet said about 06 over the years it never changed how i felt about it.
Even j's reviews video of 06 made me appreciate 06 even more then i already dit.
And now that you made this video, i have nothing but respect for what you said at the end of your video.

51:17 One has to admit, it is kinda funny that Eggman just kinda plinks off that debris and tumbles offscreen. And personally speaking, I find the CGI cutscene that is the ending of Sonic’s story to actually be pretty good. Especially the face Sonic makes when he and Elise are blasted upwards onto the cliff by that explosion.

Funny story: I found my copy of Sonic 06 at a garage sale back in 2018 and I kinda liked it didn't finish it and I found out a little to late that it's one of the most hated Sonic game's
Oh boy, Sonic 06. Believe it or not, This was the first Sonic game I’ve ever played, and despite there being some flaws that I didn’t like, I actually enjoyed this game. Can’t wait to see you tackle this later.

Kinda going into Sonic's permanent "cringe folder" at this point and sadly taints her character more than anything else for the fandom, the ending was tragically beautiful. (Tho I legit don't remember much of Chris besides that he was a thing, I mainly watched the second half of sonic x growing up when it became a space adventure, and the SA1 and 2 episodes a 2 or 3 years ago was when I first heard of that side of sonic x, than the only other ones I saw was a baseball ep, and my favorite vague memory of one where sonic , out of context, kidnaps a girl in a wheelchair to give her a field day on a island basically (I vaguely remember her dying of cancer or something, and she wanted to see a field of special flowers, and sonic was just being a stand up guy, while unintentionally causing basically g.u.n. to chase him(knowing charii, he'd be like yiik and say that if the girl was black, the police wouldn't be putting all this effort into a random person 😂))(my bad on the long tangent here, really enjoy your channel lol)

53:37 i think what charriii is trying to say here is that, aside from blaze's sacrifice near the end of the game, she pretty much had ZERO importance in the plot of sonic 06. i never played the game but from what i could tell, you could literally remove her from the story and absolutely nothing would change aside from that one moment. in other words, Blaze should've had more relevance in the overall plot (i know you can actually play as her during gameplay, but story wise yea she almost feels shoehorned in)
that said, you made a lotta good points here and i have mad respect for that. it's kinda fun seeing counters to these types of videos
True, but she did still have that one moment. And she was Silver’s best friend which makes her sacrifice all the more tragic.

Just as the live ended i made a comment about watching GeekCritique’s review of ‘06 and he went into his perspective at the time cuz going into this he was hearing the hype from fans who bashed the game so he wanted to look for good stuff. Dude even showed pics of forums posts he made DEFENDING this game. Hell he even goes into detail saying whether or not his opinion changed.
Btw Tony, have you watched GeekCritique’s review of ‘06? Despite my impressions of his Shadow review he surprisingly defended it a bit and actually critiqued his own forum posts from back then.

7:50 I'm pretty sure that with royalty, even if a Prince or Princess is the current sovereign, they stay as such unless they're married to where they gain the title of King or Queen.
Also, even if Blaze died in the original timeline, if Iblis never had reason to exist, it stands to reason that Blaze would still be alive BECAUSE of her original sacrifice with Iblis. You technically contradict yourself by saying that the Duke of Soleanna was old, so he probably died of old age instead of the explosion. In fact, Charriii saying that Blaze should've been there in the finale also makes sense because Blaze from any past point in the game could've been brought to that moment. Just because she dies in one point of time doesn't mean she no longer exists across the timeline.
Elise doesn't have to marry anyone, since she's a blood descendant of the Kind. Her, Peach and even Daisy being named princesses is probably Japanese not really understanding the European Medieval culture
Also, Blaze doesn't exactly die, I'm pretty sure she got sent off into a different dimension

Soleanna might be (presuming that the continents on Sonic's version of Earth all have the same names as their real-world counterparts, which is very unclear). In any case, a fantasy culture may be inspired by a real one, but not everything about them has to be exactly the same, does it?
And I'm actually fairly certain that Blaze died. She becomes transparent (like a spirit) and floats up into the sky before disappearing in a flash of light. We saw similar imagery previously with Tikal, and later with the Koco, and I don't think there's any question what became of those characters.

I wouldn’t say time travel stories are “almost never good”. There have been a lot of great time travel stories, or at least stories that involve it in some capacity. Otherwise, great video! Lots of good points and jokes to be had here.

While I still loved that charii5 sinned every loading screen. I do like how you raged at that part as well. And I agree. Sonic 06 gets too much hate at times. I still think it is bad but there are FAR worse. If you want a sonic game to hate on. SONIC BOOM RISE OF LYRIC IS GAME TO HATE.

40:52, there wasn't even justification for the massive plot hole brought up about one of the Chaos Emeralds being basically out of commission when it has been used for Super Forms countless times, the only Sin was on Charriii5 saying 10 years which was the least important part of his own sin

40:43 The real sin here would be: How does Charriii know Elise discovered that her father went 6 feet under? The game practically does nothing to show or even tell us so. Even then, not everyone cries when a loved one of theirs dies (or at least I didn't cry when my grandmother died. But PLEASE don't take this as messed up because I DO miss my grandma. It hasn't been the same since.)

For sin 353, I believe he is referring to the timeline when Elise would have died naturally, not when she would have died on board the Egg Carrier, since after all, Sonic’s not gonna stick around forever. And for the ‘trick Silver into beating up Iblis until it’s weak enough to fuse with’, we’ll that’s just it, obviously Mephiles wouldn’t go ‘bwah hahaha go and defeat Iblis so I can fuse with it’, he would trick Silver into doing it, and then spring himself fusing with it once it’s too late for Silver to do anything about it, Silver wouldn’t need to, or be put into a situation where he would think that he would need to restrain Mephiles, since Mephiles would still be pretending to be his ally.
Also, were Blaze to ACTUALLY be deceased, well bruh then Iblis would just be right back, since dying releases the seal again, so that would do nothing. But it does add to the theory of Blaze not being real, or just Silver’s imaginary friend or conscience, since she never talks to anyone, and she talks about Silver’s bad traits behind his back, like he would be doing inside his own head, and when she vanishes when Iblis is sealed away, that would be a representation of him no longer needing her to be by his side, since Iblis is gone and everything is alright now, he no longer needs an imaginary friend or representation of a stronger side or anything.
For the final segment, it’s a bonus, it’s not a part of the base sins of the game, it’s an additional part added on the emphasise the complete waste of time the loading screens add on. Also, many would have brought up the loading screens as sins were there no sins about them in the game, just the ‘fakeout’ at the end, maybe you yourself would have even. It’s something unavoidable, and a major issue with the game, the fact they reload the entire game every time there’s a loading screen instead of just the part you’re going to, it’s a major flaw that needs to be addressed so much, since people would want it to be.
And finally, y’know, the usual thing about, if I’m paid to subtitle a game correctly and then I make blatant errors of the English language, like I’m paid not to do, then I’m not doing my job, the thing I am paid to do, up to the expectations of the company and the viewers then am I. They are sins, since they are problems with the game, no matter how ‘small’ you assume they are, or how much you assume that ‘nobody cares’. There’s always somebody who cares, many who care, about many things you do write off sins for instead of actually doing a segment on them like some of the other random nonsense you do minute long retorts for. Anyway, y’know, this musta been a lot of work and all, don’t overwork or anything.
I wouldn’t be so sure that Sonic would be dead by the time Elise died. He’s clearly been around for a VERY long time in-universe, and he’s not that much older.
As for Blaze, she clearly used the Emeralds to do something before she died. So perhaps she used them to take Iblis out with her?
Regarding the bonus sins, my problem isn’t that the loading screens are a problem. It’s the fact that he already covered the loading screens earlier making this incredibly redundant.
Finally, the ONLY time I will ever accept typos as a sin is if there’s a lot of them together. That is truly unacceptable, and I guarantee you the only people who actually care are those who are as petty and nitpicky as Charriii.
By ‘stick around forever’ I meant ‘stick around Soleanna forever’. They’re gonna move on at some point, and she’ll die eventually without them around, either naturally or a freak accident or something entirely, but Sonic isn’t gonna stay by her side for year on end, his whole thing is always moving, never staying at the same place for that long at all.
With Blaze, if she does indeed exist, since the emeralds do have apparent limitless potential, she could have done something. Or it could even just be a matter of willpower, her just forcing Iblis to stay inside even at the end.
With the bonus sins, yes I do understand, covering it all multiple times does make one redundant in a manner, but the thing with bonus sins is that they’re always amplifying a something already sinned, but he wasn’t really sinning the ‘loading screens’ there, but ‘the total percentage of the game that IS loading screens’. But I kinda can’t believe he didn’t mention the reasoning for the loading screens, since that would be a pretty important sin, maybe you also could have used it as a counter to one of the same sins he did as well, but eh, c’est la vie.
And with regards to typos, sure, they can be overlooked, but really, with the price of games these days, you would think they would do the absolute utmost to ensure that the game is perfect, since otherwise that just makes the roles of the people who make those mistakes pointless. Sure, if the game is free, or hasn’t been directly paid for, then that’s fine, but if I’ve payed 40-60 dollars for a game, I would expect at the very least that the creators would have the utmost attention to detail, since if they’ve missed a spelling error, who knows what else they’ve overlooked with regards to the game overall….which, I suppose, with regards to this game specifically, I guess typos are kinda the least of its issues yeah…

You know, Sonic was one of the games I grew up with, the other being Pokémon, when I played '06, I thought it was probably the worst game in the series, and still do, but I would be lying if I said I didn't still like anything that was present, "His World" is a thrill to listen to, same with Shadow and Silver's themes and I like when games have playable characters outside of the main ones, and when it all comes down to the wire, all that really matters is what a person likes as an individual, and it's nice to see that there are some people who can find enjoyment even in this game
This is going to be good, it's time to tackle the video that involves what is widely considered the 2nd worst game in the series. Me personally while it is a bad game due to the Sonic×Elise thing, the glitches, Robotnik's uncanny design, and the amount of loading screens. Everything else is decent if not good especially Mephelis as a villain and the final boss.

Yeah, Mephiles isn't very loved because of the game he's in, but I absolutely love him as a villain. Dude kills Sonic, the main character for pete's sake. Also it is really sad to see SEGA make this game go from worst to second worst because of Sonic Forces. I really hope the next Sonic game, I think it's Sonic Frontiers is actually the game we've wanted and needed, if the game is actually good, then I'll be surprised.

My possible guesses for how Charriii discovered the Egg Wyvern exploit are 1) he watched videos on how to do this, 2) he discovered this on accident, or 3) he carefully planned this in advance by practicing with the Sky Gem.
I seriously doubt he found it by accident. If he did find it one of the other two ways, then my point still stands.

You did say, "You're getting ten sins for this because not only is this a lot more elaborate to the point where I don't know how you even discovered this exploit, but it's also a way to skip the second best fight in this game." The reason I think Charriii carefully planned this exploit is because the definition of elaborate is "involving many carefully arranged parts or details; detailed and complicated in design and planning."
@@tonysonic456As for who would use the Sky Gem as a means of skipping the Egg Wyvern fight, the obvious answer is speedrunners. It's a speedrun trick used to get fast times in speedruns.

14:13 This is a dumb rebuttal. A slow and tedious game like Sonic 06 needs an autosave feature to make the game more bearable to play. Also, just because you like the Mach Speed sections, doesn't erase the problems of them.
This game honestly isn't as gitchy as it's made out to be like "Unplayable"... Really? I own this game and the first time playing it I only encountered 2 gitches then replaying it I ran into none at all. I can replay the entire game again and have no problem the game is actually very fun and believe me, You'll have alot of fun and the game is longer giving you even more time to have fun unlike the newer Sonic games.
Another thing I have to bring up, if Charriii didn’t make an EWW about this game, you would have almost certainly complained that he didn’t. Plus this is a mainline installment in the series. It’s not like he can just ignore it.

I don't hate it either soundtrack: awe-inspiring. gameplay: glitchy but entertaining and slightly fluent and fun. story: iffy but ironically entertaining.
Sonic X Elise: Yeah No! But I can forget it and go along with it for the sake of suspension of disbelief also the fandom seemed to like her since there's a hedgehog version of her in fanart so I can say I can forgive it because of that. characterizations: Elise is iffy and bland but like I said I don't care, Sonic is his usual self, So is Tails and Knuckles, Amy's design sucks but I have to admit her characterization is on point plus I can give her a pass people hate her but I just enjoy how persistent she is even though Sonic is clearly not interested that and I love her for her personality Silver is not as good as his Rivals counterpart (never played Rivals or Rivals 2 since I don't have my PSP at this time and haven't found a copy at my local second hand shop and I usually don't look for it online so yeah) but he's fine and sure this isn't Rush or Rush Adventure but Blaze has a great character in this game and her sacrifice made me sad when I first saw it and Eggman is hilarious in this game thanks to the iffy mocap though his voice is on point and his characterization is perfect in this game but yeah I agree his design in this game is odd but is realistic to what someone like him would look like in reality so the design is accurate but still odd to those used to his usual design and well Solaris is just great for a villain. Level design: iffy (especially those giant ball puzzles in Aquatic Base) but still beautiful ideas in truth poor execution but still for Sega it was at least a good try for an unfinished game. And finally the reason it's unfinished glitchy nature: that answer is really long so I'll give you the short version: low time for finishing by Sega's higher-ups=unfinished game with a kick-ass soundtrack and great ideas that other people are fixing for an unofficial PC port which we haven't seen a final version as of yet though I can't wait for it's finished technically superior version though I haven't played the latest beta yet but might someday download it and try it if it gets finished I'll see how the finished product feels and how they re-did the in-game cutscenes and what some of these fights will be like with these new movesets since I'm sure they haven't made a new demo with the boss fights hell I wanna see how they re-design the Silver fights just saying we all agree they sucked both as him and as Sonic and Shadow so would be good idea but I'm getting off track point is I don't hate this game I actually enjoy it in a way I'm just upset that Sega's higher-ups were so greedy that they chose to release an unfinished game that people who didn't need money remade on PC to most of our praise and it seems most of the gaming industry wasn't listening remember the dumpster fire CD Project Red made Cyberpunk 2077 and Sonic Boom Wii U? Listen to this: You know how Blaze was a future girl in 06 and she's from another dimension in every other media? I like to think the Blaze we have known since Rush is an ancestor of the Blaze we know from 06, just like how Princess Athena is an ancestor of the Athena we know from The King of Fighters. And just like KOF Athena, 06 Blaze wasn't specified to be a princess. I know the part where 06 Blaze says "Blue hedgehog..." can be taken for granted as her thinking "Hmm... a blue hedgehog sounds interedting..." but it could also indicate that maybe enough of Sonic's legacy survived for her to have even remotely heard of him if at all. Only reason Sonic treats Blaze like a stranger in 06 is because he's more focused on taking care of Elise. He can catch up with Blaze later. (In fact, he does in Rush Adventure). And considering Princess Blaze as I like to call Rush Blaze visits Sonic's dimension sometimes, I assume "Blaze Asamiya" as I like to call 06 Blaze did the same as a kid, which is how she met Silver (her own Sie Kensou) in childhood. Since then, she would help hin try and figure out what happened to burn out the future. But hey, that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY! Thanks for reading.

I can't believe that this long video just maybe take forever but TS what have you gotta say about them fans. Because the fans says that the load screens make take a bit longer. You know what I mean by that. The fans are just like impatient gamers and all they wanna do is finish the game faster. That's all they wanna do and that DRIVES me nuts about this. Another great video. Definitely earned a sub. I agree with the ‘guilty pleasure’ statement too. I’ve never encountered issues with the game, least none that have annoyed me, and I at least liked that the story was ambitious. Also, the Silver story and play style is still my favourite to date in the ‘adventure’ format.
while I do agree that 06 is an overhated game, I think the main reason why this game still has a lot of hate is because of the 15th anniversary of Sonic. An anniversary of a franchise in a way is a celebration of an icon. it feels like an achievement for surviving as long as sonic did since there are MANY franchises kick the bucket before they can pick up steam. while 06 did pay homage to the previous games like adventure 1 or 2, considering how many problems people had with the game, not to mention the fact that the game had to be rushed, it felt like a huge letdown. Combined with the fact that we fans also got shitty gba port of sonic 1 also, and a racing game that while received decently didn't blow everybody away, the 15th anniversary didn't go well in the slightest. what was supposed to be a memorable anniversary for sonic turned out to be while memorable, it was remembered in the worst way possible. don't get me wrong, sonic boom rise of lyric is worst than 06, it feels easier to overlook since it's a spinoff. plus, it really wasn't a celebration of anything. the sonic boom series felt like what the sonic riders was: an experiment. I think sonic 06 has more hatred simply because of when it was released, and it hurt sonics credibility to the eyes of many. however, even though sonic has had a lot of ups and downs in his career, i will always acknowledge sonic as my favorite video game series of all time. I've played so many sonic games since my childhood, and I want to keep supporting the blue hedgehog no matter how hard things get.

No, she _definitely_ sealed herself away here. Not only does that sort of fading not happen when people die (unless you're a Force User in Star Wars or something), but said sealing is quite arguably why she's "a princess from another dimension" in every other game... because the way _this_ game ended twisted her personal timeline by retconning her departure but not directly involving the other universe.
Also, that's why she isn't in the Final Story of this game: different universe. And we _know_ that this Blaze is also the Blaze we've seen since, because the latter _recognizes_ Crisis City when she's freed in Generations.

The thing that I don't understand is... Where does Blaze come from? How Blaze knows Silver? Did she went to the future in the Sonic dimensions to stop Iblis? Because, according to rush and rush adventure, she lives in an other dimension. And I don't know if anyone can do a chaos control, it's not made very clear, so I don't think Blaze managed to find someone else doing a chaos control in order to go into the future. I'm not even sure if she can do a chaos control.

2:39 You are partly right. This story can actually be the second story since he is the first character you unlock after a few stages with Sonic. So if people played as Sonic until they unlocked Silver, and decide to switch stories in the middle (which let’s be real, barely anybody will do), the joke works a bit better. Not by much though.

Like for example, Tony's sonic forces videos where he LITERALLY explained why charriii's jokes were invalid TWICE, when in reality, both of them were pop-cultural references. Video game and pop culture references are still the same damn thing no matter how you twist it. Hell, tony could've lobbed both the majora's mask joke and the eye of the tiger joke into one sin instead of having to explain it to everyone and to pad his videos. Also, I can literally use THIS video as to show how that logic is. What about charriii sinning the series most iconic (prominent as you changed it in team sonic racing) line cliche? How is that a different situation? Because the characters are in different locations? Because different characters are saying the line every time? That makes it different apparently. Bullshit! It's still the same damn point no matter what. You want to know why (this also goes to anybody who reads this comment)? Oh wait! I know! It's because the phrase "long time no see" was uttered 3 TIMES (possibly more) in this game, meaning that they should've been sinned in one go rather than separate because if those 4 words were uttered by the characters on more than one occasion, and if they're not sinned at once, (or given timestamps to see where charriii repeats himself) then it's tony sonic repeating himself again, and there's NOTHING that ANYONE can say that can change my mind. I Don't Really Hate Sonic 06 I Just Thinks It's an Alright Game That Could've Been Better. That's how I see every bad sonic, just a game that could've been better This Game Has Good Things That Some People Just Don't Seem To Think About Which Honestly Hurts Me. I love this game because its one of those so bad its good like yes it was rushed but its atleast stupidly fun like crash twinsanity, and not rushed and unfun like spyro enter the dragonfly but the thing is this game had potential if it wasnt rushed i mean yes this game is bad but its stupid fun to laugh at some bs moments like charriii made a vid on what he loves about sonic 06 and its pretty solid basically what i would say but again i dont wanna write essays here so i give sonic 06 6.7/10 and 500 loading screens

THANK YOU! finally someone agrees with me that the silver fight wasn't that bad. the first time I played the game I beat him on my second try, and I suck at video games. I know it sounds like I'm bragging, but when I heard from multiple UA-cam channels that this fight was hard, I was a little nervous. then I played it myself, and I was like well that wasn't so hard. I don't understand the problem. all you have to do is keep your distance from silver, wait until he says how about this, and then you attack him. plus, whenever I fought him, he wasn't that far away so I was able to attack him quite easily. just don't be a dumbass by trying to grab rings that silver appears right in front of.
