Honestly I love this right now. The irony of SMU having success with the way college landscape has changed due to the transfer portal and NIL. Always been a fan of their jerseys when they made the change to their current uniforms back around 2009.
@@marcvslicinivscrassvs7536exactly while they were the only school caught/punished believe me most major schools around that time had some type of incentive program for elite recruits
One of my favorite details about this current SMU team is that so many of their star players, especially their quarterbacks, are from Dallas. Jennings is from Oak Cliff, Stone went to Parish Episcopal, and third-string Keldric Luster is from McKinney. Sure, they’ve made plenty of good use of the transfer portal, but having so many Dallas-born stars makes the team feel authentic in addition to being good.
And that's going to continue to be a thing! So many athletes come from the metroplex and their only option was TCU. Now with SMU doing what they've done, so many athletes are going to want to come to SMU from the area. In about 2 or 3 years they'll dang near have a all metroplex team and I'm ok with that! We have the best talent, anyways! 🐎
SMU was wild west college football before college football became the wild west. It is no surprise they are popping like they are now. Gotta give them credit for doing whatever they had to do to get into a power conference. Aggression maneuver is often the right call.
I don’t understand why SMU has the reputation of “buying” their way into things. Other programs spend way more money, and SMU clearly has the skill and robustness in their program to earn a spot in a Power 4 conference.
The only thing holding SMU back the last 10-15 years was not joining a major conference. So essentially, politics. They have a great location, they are RICH, they just needed to have a reason for kids to commit
I don’t know why smu is not ranked higher. They are 5-0 in confrence, and they only lost to byu (if a byu fan) and byu is undefeated, I hate the polls and the cfp lol
They should at least have one of the 12 spots for the playoffs, but ncaa will do everything to try to keep them out , problem is smu is going to continue to play and win, so it's going to force them to put them in, and you know it's driving them nuts that even after how bad the ncaa screwed them with the death penalty, this new landscape is going to allow smu to give them the finger as they become dominant and make pony excess look like child's play with the money they can throw around now
I’m actually surprised it took them this long to become a big time program w NIL and the portal in play nowadays. In my mind as soon as they announced that you could pay players. It was a group of oil rich billionaires high-fiving and fist pumping saying “Yes, we’re back boys” lol 😂 I’m happy for them guys
It’s not all that hard to figure out why the mustangs are successful in the acc. First of all it’s the acc that conference is garbage. Secondly SMU made a great hire for their head coach in Rhett lashlee. Now the question becomes can they hold onto him should one the bigger jobs open up.

Yep, they were NIL long before the NIL. But then again, most big schools were.!
I’ve been literally waiting for this to happen. So happy for SMY

As a recent SMU grad living in Dallas, I keep having to pinch myself. The energy is off the charts in this city
Do you think your SMU "Ponies" stand a chance against My Crimson and Creame 🐘?

5:17 SMU will still be making more money under this condition than they got in the AAC
Great time to be SMU fan
this came at a perfect time. The Cowboys are trash. smu mustangs are giving me a reason to look forward to the weekend thank you.
SMU is Dallas’s best team and it’s not even close
Don't forget about David Miller....I'm pretty sure he spearheaded the ACC move
Word
Just so you know I'm a bartender. David Miller is a very generous man. He loves SMU and Family.
Thank you!
Nobody should be surprised about the rise. They were just ahead of their time.
Those unis are clean!

If they win out justice is served!

Go Ponies! I’ve been going to the games since 1989.
Dallas Carter won a state title in the 80’s.
#PONYEXPRESS🐎🔵🔴 is coming for y’all!! Get ready
The best helmet logo in college football!
Buckeyes fan they had Dickerson & Craig James they are back i think they win the Acc as well kevin jennings is on point defense is solid!
Sucks that RJ Maryland is injured but Hibner showed he can ball in his place
God, time, and effort 🏈
Every football program paid players in the 1980’s.
GREAT RUN BUT THEY WON'T BEAT MIAMI THERE WAYY TO TALENTED 😆😆😆

SMU is also taking 100% of their ACCN revenue, which is about $21MM/yr. It’s only the T1 rights they gave up.
FYI SMU also has a very strong claim for the 1935 national title. Much more so than the 80s natties.
Is it me or do they all look really small?
How? By making legal what SMU got the death penalty for...buying players.
Pony Up 🐎 SMU
Dallas is my favorite Atlantic coast city.
That's BS, SMU started the NIL program back in the 80s.

SMU is in the easiest Power 4 conference. They don't play anyone.
Impossible? Nah the ACC is just really really bad dude.
It is ngl. Still good for SMU right?
somehow the big 12 is better which shocks me
