I almost didn’t get it because nobody carried it at their store, so it would be hard to find parts. Sense Cummins came out with their inverter I have been seeing more and more do to the name brand. After I researched the Cummins that’s when I found out that Westinghouse built it for Cummins. I do see all kind of parts on the shelf for Cummins. So when you look at what those parts fit it actually says for Cummings and Westinghouse inverters. How nice is that!!!! Thank you sir for a great presentation of those inverter generators. I recently purchased a 4375 Champion generator as a back up for home use and for use as a contractor. I'm grateful to you for the way you delivered need-to-know information about those generators. Please continue to give more indepth reports and presentations of more ( weedeaters, lawnmowers, trimmers, etc.) equipment and tools that most homeowners will find extremely useful. Again, thanks.

We live at 8000 feet and will camp higher than that, at times. I have been absorbing Gavin's videos on the various models--- currently trying to determine which size to focus on ---- 1) get a 2500w suitcase version and be prepared to have to get a second one for parallelling if I find the altitude too great for those or 2) get either a 3000-3800w or 3) get a 4500w and just have 1 generator vice 2 in parallel. I will be installing a solar set up also that will include a 3k watt inverter. So, in essence, I guess all that I would be doing is charging the lithium batteries with the generator vice running electrical components with the generator.

Gavin, I really like your comments about gas generators. I've been looking for a review of the Firman 7500W. Have you done one? My wife and I have an 1,800 d
Hi Gavin Can you recommend me the top 1 of the 5 that you compare Also I saw on the comments your 2 options Honda and Yamaha if we have the money to buy it? That’s correct? 🙏
I’ve been reviewing generators for weeks, on top of watching all your videos. I really want the Honda eu2200i, but my problem is I live in northern NM at an elevation of 7,200’. I leaning toward a suitcase inverter generator to run my 13.5 BTU A/C in my travel trailer along with using it for power outages. All I’m looking to run during power outages is the refrigerator, microwave and maybe a small heater or A/C in the house. Of course I wouldn’t run them all at the same time other than running the refrigerator all the time. What generator would you recommend?
I wouldn’t recommend a 2k+ Gen. I know you’re looking for a top brand and something you can easily carry so I would recommend at least a 3k I personally use the Generac gp3000 Check out my video about the Generac gp3000
Hi there! I am in the same boat. Our travel trailer will arrive in a couple of weeks; so it is time to get a generator. I will install a solar system. So the generator would only be for cloudy days, shady sites, or maybe just to turn on when we have a known large energy session such as microwaving and such. We live at 8000ft, just north of you in CO. We will primarily boondock in CO and the immediate surrounding states. Since it will be October when our trailer arrives and I can get the solar system in, we very well could be boondocking down in your parts as our forest roads and jeep trails will start closing down due to snow in mid October. Oh…land I will put a soft start on our 15k btu a/c. My current choices are a nice Honda 2200w and hope that can run the a/c up at altitude (or have to get a second one for paralleling), get an off model 2200-2500w for half the price and get a second if we need to (those would be the price of 1 Honda), or quit trying to cut corners and go straight for a 3000-4000w off model. Or…really quit cutting corners and get the Honda 3000w. Lots of things to think about. I would love to not have a 100lb generator. But I also don’t like counting amps every hour of the day. I have seen folks that carry ramps to help put their heavy generators in the truck. And, I have also seen wive’s set up 1 2500w generator because that satisfies 90% of their needs. I am reasonably handy, so can maintain any of these brands. I get the feeling that with good maintenance and proper fuel management, any of these models should work for most of our needs. Gavin’s videos are awesome! I really appreciate them in the decision making process!
Hi Gavin. Awesome videos! I am a first time buyer looking in the 4500 range. I am using for my race car trailer...AC and small compressor. I am confused about the grounding requirements. My intention is to put the outside the trailer on cement or tarmac. Does it need to be grounded? Thanks!
Grounding is a best practice if possible. Running the trailer for a couple days you should be able to get away without grounding. My home then I’ll would definitely ground it.
Westinghouse and Cummins are from the same manufacturer, so pretty much it’s up to your preference on color and price point between those two. Check out my videos on those two
Very good Video! A+. Does the westinghouse house has the features of fuel cut off? I believe it burns the fuel on the carburetor before it shutdown. Does anyone knows?
@@GeneratorReviews This is good to know! I am guessing that the fuel knob in the upper right corner is purely just a fuel flow control and does not turn off the electrical power of the generator, i.e. can shut the fuel off and the generator just keeps running until the carb runs out of fuel?
Gavin, your videos are very informative. When possible can you test in the Genkins open frame 4500W inverter. There’s also an enclosed frame generator like you tested in this video. Genkins has the cheapest of all the 4500w inverters & produce more power than all of them. Thx
Yes, I contacted the manufacturer and I’m actually working on getting one of those 4500 enclosed so keep an eye out for that video coming soon Thanks Peter 👍🏾
I have the champion and spent 819 bucks on it. On eco it is crazy quiet and it will run my fifth wheel with single AC, fridge and microwave perfectly. Tank of fuel will be around 10hrs depending on load and outside temperature. I have a family member who has dual Cummins of the smaller version and those combined are louder than the single champion. I know we are comparing apples to oranges here but for the price point you can’t beat the champion
Love your videos. On the Westinghouse i4500 when you are doing the review the data center appears to be flashing all the time. Is this just the camera causing this. I noticed the Champion data center appears smooth and clear so tell us is it the camera or is it really flashing like the video shows. Thanks.
Thanks for watching It doesn’t flash in person only on camera L.E.D lights always looks like its flashing on camera vs L.C.D like the one on the Champion L.E.D is brighter in person and is clearly visible in sunlight.
@@GeneratorReviews what size of the champion would u recommend for me! We recently bought a FEMA 2005 or 2006 not really sure but Gulf Stream Cavalier and we want to buy a inverter generator we love the champion dual but I’d like to know what wattage I’d need it’s for the basic use like fridge lights ac/furnace microwave just the essential use but we would still like to have good amounts of wattage and will be using propane as main source
@@GeneratorReviews Thank you so much! I’ve never been camping in a rv so I’m still trying to figure out all of the important things so we can take off and enjoy solitude! Btw I love your videos
I saw you had a q6500 briggs and stratton. You should run your rv ac on that. Mine is a 15000 btu ac on my rv and my q6500 briggs won't run it. The breaker just trips. Was told the 4500 Onan will run it without a soft start.
Do you have any plans on reviewing any AI power generators? I’d like to see the 3500 W dual fuel keyless remote generator review and can’t find any on the Internet that are as good as your videos
Do any of these have 120/240vac voltage? Without. 240 vac you cannot use these inverters with a home transfer switch. Can only use 120vac extension cables.
@@GeneratorReviews thanks for the reply....regarding use of an adapter....yes certainly can be used but it means that only ONE side of a 240vac transfer switch will have 120vac. In zCanada its not legal to jumper inside the transfer panel to have 120vac appear on both sides or phases of the panel. Hence you can only use half the breaker positions in the panel. I can't comment on whether its possible to draw 30amp @ 120vav through the transfer panel with the wiring that way. Thanks for the rebiewd
Gavin - Fantastic videos! Keep up the good work. Quick question, if a guy just wants a backup/emergency generator to run two refrigerators, a vertical deep freeze, and a few household lights (at the same time preferably), what size inverter would you recommend? And would you drop the money for a name brand (Honda or Yamaha) or would you go with one of these knock-off brands?
Hi Adam! When it comes to the backup generators if you have the money to buy the Honda and the Yamaha go for it as far as wattage I would start around the 4500w give yourself a little legroom if in case your needs grow in the future. There’s nothing wrong with the cheap inverter generator as long as you maintain them and keep them properly stored Thanks for watching
I think your video's are fantastic, however, my house is 120V/240V not suitable for my home backup application. I was sent down a 120V inverter generator rabbit hole. My fault though, title change to include voltage delivered by the generator would have stopped my misdirection. Great reviews though.
Sadly, finding a smaller generator that handles 240v is difficult. I have an older Yamaha (EF4600a non-inverter) that I've had over 20 years now. It's LOUD which is the only negative I can give it. That said, it's a 4600 watt unit, starts in one pull, and runs all the critical home systems like well pump, heat, hot water, refrigeration, and washing machine. Using a reasonable duty cycle, I can go a week comfortably on just 15 gallons of fuel in the middle of winter. Only thing I've seen that would be a nice quiet replacement is the GenMax GM5500i. Combined with a ProTran 31406CRK Transfer Switch (or maybe one a little larger like 31410CRK) and you have a very good and efficient home backup.
Can you do a side-by-side test full size home portable generator that is able to run central air conditioning (+3 ton) the oven, microwave, electric hot water heater hybrid (heat pump), washer and dryer, security cameras, home theater with 60in TV, and Etc. with clean power THD
The price of the generators changes so fast when I say the price everyone comments on the price so I add links in the description instead thanks for watching
You've only got 4 inverters there. The Westinghouse and the Cummings are exactly the same inverter. Just rebranded. Cummings is made by Westinghouse. That is why they are identical apart from the body colour.
I can never get my Westinghouse iGen4500df to start with the pull rope. I’ve changed the spark plug to an NGK and confirmed the choke is working at least when using the battery start. Does anyone else have a problem starting manually with pull rope?
No I just verified that it will start with pull start switch on, Eco mode off, fuel on and a really hard pull it should start if that doesn’t work get your side panel off turn on your manual choke and try it that way. If your generator starts with the Manuel choke you may have to adjust the automatic choke cable.
Most of these are made by the same factory in china which is why they are almost identical. The Onan is definitely not made by onan/cummins. Just the badge. I've been searching for a quiet one for a while and I'm trying to settle on the champion, predator or westinghouse. The westinghouse is bottom due to the terrible customer service I keep reading about. Predator is in the running because there is a horrible freight somewhere close to wherever you go pretty much. I'd assume the Briggs engine is made in the usa still but does it matter much? The honda clones are really good engines and if the engine is holding you back there is only 1 option, go honda..
@@BS.-.- I don't where you picked your information from but you're wrong. They have several factories in the usa and as far as I can tell even though they filed bankruptcy in 2020, they still are making engines in the states. from globally sourced components of course.. feel free to post a link to back your claim up though . Mine came from the briggs website.

But, the AUDIO WAS FLUCTUATING FROM QUIET TO LOUD at TIMEs!!!
AGAIN, I ENJOYED THE VIDEO
IM JUST MENTIONING THAT...
Thanks for watching
Gavin, your videos are very informative. When possible can you test in the Genkins open frame 4500W inverter. There’s also an enclosed frame generator like you tested in this video. Genkins has the cheapest of all the 4500w inverters & produce more power than all of them. Thx
Yes, I contacted the manufacturer and I’m actually working on getting one of those 4500 enclosed so keep an eye out for that video coming soon
Thanks Peter 👍🏾
if you had to chose just one, which one is the best?
I would say the Cummins
Can you do a test between the 4550 predator inverter vs the powerhorse inverter 4500 generator.
Are the Cummins and Westinghouse the same generator with just different names/brands on them??
Yes they’re manufactured in the same factory just different colors and options
I have the champion and spent 819 bucks on it. On eco it is crazy quiet and it will run my fifth wheel with single AC, fridge and microwave perfectly. Tank of fuel will be around 10hrs depending on load and outside temperature. I have a family member who has dual Cummins of the smaller version and those combined are louder than the single champion. I know we are comparing apples to oranges here but for the price point you can’t beat the champion
Champions are really quiet for real.
My rv is 50 amps with 2 ACs. With a 4500 all I need is a 30 to 50 amp dogbone to run it correct?
I installed soft start on my units that really helped me with start ups
Love your videos. On the Westinghouse i4500 when you are doing the review the data center appears to be flashing all the time. Is this just the camera causing this. I noticed the Champion data center appears smooth and clear so tell us is it the camera or is it really flashing like the video shows. Thanks.
Thanks for watching
It doesn’t flash in person only on camera L.E.D lights always looks like its flashing on camera vs L.C.D like the one on the Champion
L.E.D is brighter in person and is clearly visible in sunlight.
I was really looking at the Westinghouse but saw the paursar. 3700
Great selections, well done!
Glad you like them! Thanks
Which one do I need for 2 refrigerators, a freezer, heater, fans, occasional microwave use, hot plate/griddle, laptops and charging phones?
Thanks for watching
The champion 5500W might be your best choice just be mindful of your loads
Wondering why the Predator didn’t make the cut, and what do you do with all of these when you’re done with the videos, do you sell the bottom 4?
This is for the 4500w series Generators
Let me know which one you think is number one and I’ll sell it to you😅
Good Video, but I was wondering if you had considered including the Powerhorse 4500.
Yes I will definitely add it soon
@@GeneratorReviews Thanks, it's basically a Predator 3500 on steroids.
Gavin you do excellent videos.
Thank you😊🙏🏾
So which one is the best... that's all I want to know...
I would choose the champion in this match up for me.
I've heard the little pulsar gennies out perform most 2000 watt units. I'm really curious if it's big brother is the same.
Wow!! really now I’m curious

@@melodydelacruz5850 I would recommend you get the 4500w that will give you the full 30amp needed for your loads
Thanks for watching
@@GeneratorReviews Thank you so much! I’ve never been camping in a rv so I’m still trying to figure out all of the important things so we can take off and enjoy solitude! Btw I love your videos
@@melodydelacruz5850 We all started one day you’ll enjoy it, probably one of the most peaceful thing you can do in the recreational world.
Thanks for the video
I saw you had a q6500 briggs and stratton. You should run your rv ac on that. Mine is a 15000 btu ac on my rv and my q6500 briggs won't run it. The breaker just trips. Was told the 4500 Onan will run it without a soft start.
You should probably consider installing soft starts on the AC it really helps

Do you have any plans on reviewing any AI power generators?
I’d like to see the 3500 W dual fuel keyless remote generator review and can’t find any on the Internet that are as good as your videos
I will definitely check it out
Please subscribe and share my videos
Definitely my kinda Generator
Are you going to review the PowerHorse 4500w? I hear it is pretty much the Predator with an updated inverter.
Great idea thanks
@@GeneratorReviews would love to see the PowerHorse hooked up the the oscilloscope. Keep up the great work!
Which one would you choose based on quality?
Cummins, Westinghouse or champion would be my pick in that order 😊😎👍🏾
i run genset ever nite off grid over 40 years
What’s your preferred Generator brand for backup power?
@@GeneratorReviews i got 2 pulsars for 1200$
Do any of these have 120/240vac voltage? Without. 240 vac you cannot use these inverters with a home transfer switch. Can only use 120vac extension cables.
You can use an adapter if you’re looking for 240v check out this video

ua-cam.com/video/p_UDwcUZyVQ/v-deo.html
There’s nothing wrong with the cheap inverter generator as long as you maintain them and keep them properly stored
Thanks for watching
I think your video's are fantastic, however, my house is 120V/240V not suitable for my home backup application. I was sent down a 120V inverter generator rabbit hole. My fault though, title change to include voltage delivered by the generator would have stopped my misdirection. Great reviews though.
Thanks for watching you should check out these 120v/240v Gens
ua-cam.com/video/qVMIhyyLBLQ/v-deo.html
Thanks for the link and all your effort.
Nice job god bless
Awesome video. Thank you sir!
Thanks you 👍🏾
Great video
Thanks
Well explained..
Thank u bro
Thanks buddy
great video keep up the good work!!
Thanks 😊
any of these dual fuel?
Nope but check out my other videos I have dual fuel models and test video
Can you do a side-by-side test full size home portable generator that is able to run central air conditioning (+3 ton) the oven, microwave, electric hot water heater hybrid (heat pump), washer and dryer, security cameras, home theater with 60in TV, and Etc. with clean power THD
Yessir
How about telling the price
The price of the generators changes so fast when I say the price everyone comments on the price so I add links in the description instead
thanks for watching
You've only got 4 inverters there. The Westinghouse and the Cummings are exactly the same inverter. Just rebranded. Cummings is made by Westinghouse. That is why they are identical apart from the body colour.
Yes they are from the same manufacturer
I can never get my Westinghouse iGen4500df to start with the pull rope. I’ve changed the spark plug to an NGK and confirmed the choke is working at least when using the battery start. Does anyone else have a problem starting manually with pull rope?
No I just verified that it will start with pull start switch on, Eco mode off, fuel on and a really hard pull it should start if that doesn’t work get your side panel off turn on your manual choke and try it that way.
If your generator starts with the Manuel choke you may have to adjust the automatic choke cable.
Thanks for the reply.
Well said and I agree
Thanks for watching
Briggs hasn't been actualy made in the usa for years and years.
@@skelafeti "globally sourced components" should tell you all you need. Do you know what's needed to call it "made in usa"?
@@BS.-.- obviously you dont because every American car made is made from globally sourced components and they are made in the usa...
Forgot to take into review Daewoo 4500 inverter
pulsar make Cumming and Westinghouse look inside
and iv had the Generac gp3000 it got taken back junk it was crap
i had 2 brigs in less than 1 year ang brigs is so bad to work with just like pulling your teeth do not get the brigs
I guess price tags not worth to mention?
Check the links in the description sir thanks for watching
The cummins and westinghouse look like clones of each other
Yes
ps the brigs is crap
Are you every going to mention fuel type??????? A waste of my time.
What do you mean a waste of your time by not mentioning fuel type every generator uses 87 octane or propane?
I like the WEN 4500 dual fuel inverter both price wise and performance
I will be reviewing that one soon
