    Wow! I find that cost a bit daunting, especially as you seemed to have had the same teething problems we all face with a new set up.
    Congratulations on your sponsorship deals and being able to build and afford your rig. I guess it's different if it's your job.

    Great video from both of you.
    I am currently building a Troopy (Sandy Taupe naturally) for a major trip in Australia - 6-12months duration.
    I really appreciate the openness and honesty of your videos and your willingness to tell the whole story, not just the good or self-promotional bits. The CSR series was particularly impressive in this regard. The whole group presented a good, engaging story.
    I must also say that I really enjoy your photos and videos from a visual arts perspective, the quality and editing are exceptional.
    All the best for the future in whatever direction it takes you both.

    Totally reasonable price guys. A lot of people must live under rocks to think a rig like yours would be under $200K with all the mods you have. I’ve done the Jmacx 4495kg GVM to my 79 and yep, it costs.
    When you get the 40K service make sure Toyota engage your lockers before they replace/service your wheel bearings otherwise the locker ring will fall out. Cheers

    Hi guys, happy to hear that you are being open about the what did work and what didn’t. Good to see you you have taken onboard some advice from your viewers , it works both ways. There is nothing perfect and we are always learning. The long ranger fuel tank you will be happy with, I have had mine for 16 years and I like how it use the factory gauge., no LED stick on.

    Hi Guys, you’re inspiring .
    I totally understand about a homebase after working 7+ years driving adventure tours through North Africa Scandinavia and Europe. I was glad to be able to return home to New Zealand.
    I’m lucky to have been able to buy last ones to be able to get a new Troopy in New Zealand.
    With the change to the new Land Cruiser 70 series the Troopy has been deleted from the models available in NZ.
    If there is anyone who would like to order a new Troopy in NZ there was three more new cancelled order Troopys in stock in NZ read it to be shipped to your local Toyota dealer and then that’s it.

Also the footage you guys create is amazing to watch, You and Salty D are def up there and either would be a great buy on a large print be a cool Christmas gift. Look forward to next episode. Hi Guys, love to hear about your opinion concerning full time travelling. I completely agree, it is hard and not for everybody. I also prefer to have a home base, love my Troopy and would not miss it but after a3 month travel I also love to be back home and digest all the impression from the travel. with full time travel your are quickly at the status ‚data overflow‘ 😂. cheers mates!

      Yes we often comment to each other that the Hilux had no right to work as well as it did considering we made the build out with a hand saw, a chisel, hammer and drill.

    I just can't see the 2.8L managing 35s and GVM upgrades. I think people looking for heavy duty towing vehicles will move to the American trucks.

      Toyota are still providing the V8. It’s a choice between the two.

    • @richwhetton
      @richwhetton 6 місяців тому +1

      It’s going towards the US trucks anyway - a lot of the high end caravans when loaded are going to struggle to stay under 3.5tonne.

    • @darrenc4096
      @darrenc4096 6 місяців тому

      @@richwhetton that’s so true. The main drawback with Yank trucks is they are too wide and oversized for off-road tracks such as VIC High Country and the like. I suppose there are positive and negative points in most equipment choices when it comes to towing large vans. 🍺

  • @stuartkcalvin
    @stuartkcalvin 6 місяців тому

    My PXIII $73K 2021 Ranger, outfitted was $120K (flame me, but it's bullet proof and I can travel with it without the van). The Vison 14" Hybrid outfitted was $125K ($245K total, paid with cash). My monthly fixed costs are $8K+ pa. Annual fixed costs are $2K+.
    That $11K pa does not include fuel, pantry and fridge food, alcohol, servicing, events, consumables, snacks and take aways, medical and pharmacy, clothes and shoes, camp fees, servicing and parts, family gifts and the usual unknown unknowns.
    It costs over $50K a year to travel Australia constantly or continuously on a small budget. I'm closer to $100K pa, not because I'm frivolous but because it's realistic.
    I'm 64 (with good Super) but still work part time (2-3 days on the road) and have an Army pension ~$54K after tax. Still got the home - no mortgage, no car loan, no personal loans, just a $10K CC for ease of use.
    Many YTs go dark after a failed attempt at "living on the road" because the arithmetic wasn't done before setting off.
