@@murfdog19 it's my understanding according the band the current obstacle is lack of management or major record label representation with deep enough pockets to cover studio time or something. Basically their material is ready, it rocks, and the right person needs to pull their head out their ass and book the studio time and get the touring deal. That's my understanding. Fingers crossed

He continues to receive royalties worth hundreds of thousands per year for the albums he contributed to in Metallica. Jason can fund his own project with no problems as money is not the issue. He has so many contacts in the music industry that securing a solid management company to handle booking, touring, album pressings , production shouldn't be a problem either. There is however another issue and none of us are in "the know". I'm leaning more towards commitment. I don't think he's committed enough to want to tour an album and with 60 million dollars, why should he be? He's been there, done that.

I'm so happy that he's going back to his roots and restarting the Newsted project. Not only that, but that he's actually playing Metallica songs! Here's to hoping he plays with Metallica in the upcoming future, because Creeping Death just isn't the same without him!

Jason still looks and performs great! Felt like he was channeling his inner Lemmy on the 3rd verse. Always a joy to see these guys still doing their thing and enjoying bringing great music to the masses.
Rob is a great guy and a helluva bassist, but Newsted’s scowl, intensity and insane backing vocals were Metallica’s spark plug onstage. He made a HUGE difference to the band.
It hurts knowing Jason is still playing hard as ever and he’s not even doing it in Metallica. I really hope there’s some kind of one off show they could do with him one day, cause I’d be there without a second thought!

He can play the songs, but he can’t headbang nonstop with a heavy bass strapped to his shoulder for 2-1/2 hours. He had injuries from the headbanging that he had to have surgery for and let heal. You can see how he can “nod” a bit but the days of throwing his head back and forth with abandon are over. That’s what he meant mostly.
I am glad he gets to play this and lars not step in for the royalties haha. Glad that Jason is alive and thriving, he is a class act and has the heart of a lion 😎🤘🔥♥️👏

Sorry,... that is inaccurate. He contributed one bass intro to that entire album. Fun fact, Bob Rock had to really guide Newsted on what and how to play many bass parts. This has been mentioned by Newsted himself.

I used to headbang hard at every show I went to for over 20 years, but when I hit my 40s, I had to stop. I never injured myself, but I’ve had back issues and I knew it was only a matter of time if I didn’t pull back and acknowledge that I’m not 25 anymore. I just didn’t want to go through what guys like Newsted, Anselmo, Araya, Mustaine, Hetfield, etc went through with surgeries, pinched nerves, stenosis. I miss it but it’s not worth the risk. It seems like the older guys who can still bang (Angus Young, Kerry King, Scott Ian) are all short. Lower center of gravity?

Yeah, but Injuries happen, we recover - minimize the risk (by being in good shape, strength, cardio). 40s are fine, nothing like 20s, but what to do - Hetfield/Rob are pretty active on stage at 60. One leg squats, jumping, playing on knees, etc... Not bad. I would say all is worth it, not place for the fear, just little bit more careful :)

Hetfield stopped headbanging in the '90s and he still needed surgery...he does it a little here and there nowadays but it's controlled...he's not whipping his head around like it's 1989.
