Ive had a green reset 100 pressure filter for years no problems. The reason i picked it is because it can handle 22,000 litres per hour flow rate and my pump is rated to 10,000 - 22,000 litres per hour adjustable. I dont even clean it with the handle ever just open it up annually to clean it which takes less then 10 mins even then its not that dirty and then after that i have a home made fast flow filter box with finer filtration. My setup is different to most i have my pump sat in a skimmer box with a trap door and the pump has a course pre filter sponge over the pump which explains why the pressure filter never blocks. I clean the skimmer box every 2 weeks, pop the lid 1 min job to remove all the dirt/leaves with a net and wash prefilter sponge. Water is crystal clear year round no algae no UV bulbs and lots of plants. Dont bother testing water anymore as its always perfect whenever ive checked and i use no chemicals. I think people overcomplicate their setups nowadays and i love the minimal maintenance of my set up it pretty much looks after itself and full of wildlife aswell.
The oase type compress the sponges which is much better, I’ve used one for many years between my skimmer and my shower. It works very well as a mechanical filter.
Ive got one of those swell filters, i never use the silly handles, never works. I take it to bits an clean it that way. Take a bit of time but i enjoy it
I clean mine once a week and is on my skimmer line, then back out via the shower. I have got in to the habit of a gentle clean twice a week, then one good clean a week and clean all the sponges through 👍
if using these , buy the oase ones , they are much better and you have to pull a handle up which squashes the foams and squeezes the crap out , but you still can't beat hose pipe to clean them , best used as a pre filter into a better filter that doesn't harbour bad bacteria ,
I have a similar pressure filter although it has different sponges. The only reason I bought it was to act as a pre filter to my Aquascape bio falls. The one with the crank cleaner only had 1-1/4 max fittings, I need 1-1/2. EXTREMELY disappointed in it. Just a stupid valve switch button to push to backwash. Does little to nothing. A total pain in the ass to take apart to clean. Honestly it was a total waste of money. Ripped it out and built a DIY sieve pre filter . Best move ever!
They are a pest. Mine was on my skimmer line so think I was lucky. Can’t imagine running a whole pond on one! Glad you had success from building your own. Always a good feel good factor 👍🏼
All in all Dave a lot of effort to clean thoroughly I suppose. Horses for courses if it suits for a grow on location like yours . As you say manage it properly 👍
I ran 3 oases on my koi pond before my nexus n bead. They are death cans n dont properly clean on the handle cycle so unless you can be bothered opening them up every week they are a big no no especially for koi keeping in my book but great for water clarity my pond was very clean looking but i always had poorly fish 🐟👍
They work great backwash it twice a week during hot spells once a week when cold ,once a fortnight in winter our koi are doing great .But I have got A 12000 litre filter for a 2300 litre pond. Works well for us
Do you have no problem with a big filter like this with the wattage of the uv lamp I have 2000l pond en wil buy a big presure filter but i am scared that the bigger uv lamp wil kill my good bacterie
I had one as well, back in the day. It was always a complete breakdown, or risk all that junk contaminating the pond. They're just more work to clean than what the manufacturer is willing to disclose.
Yea the spinning cleans the filter sponges then you pour out the bottom mank haha anyone spinning and leaving is simply stupid it clearly tells you in the instructions to spin to clean sponges then pour out the bad water.
Don’t waste your money on this crap, I had one when first starting out. Nothing but trouble and holds loads of bad muck as shown in video. save up and buy an easypod!!!
I don’t have any issues using one of these filters, everything has its place, you just need to clean it more than the manufacturer recommends 😊👍
Agreed young Phillip 😊👍🏼

Yep - never had an issue with it. My dad uses one on his pond too.

You don't want to clean them too good as you lose beneficial bacteria.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Bin it , looks like you’ve been running a saniflo into it 😩
😂😂😂😂

They are no good as a stand alone filter. Can be a good add on.

Agreed 👍🏼
Now you know why I stopped using them 😂
Perhaps it's this particular make/model.
Hope you're well.
Oi… you sold it to me 😂 I can’t fault it on my grow on. Been great.

Cleaned out regularly it’s been faultless on my grow on. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
