Reciprocating motion is the repetitive , up - down linear motion 'OR' repetitive , Forward and Backward linear motion with in a system.

Thanks for your request but working stationary engines are same. Stationary Engines are also an IC Engines. In 18th Century it works on Two stroke but after mid of 19th century four stroke is started to use.

but sir in ci engine we use diesel as fuel so why we use a spark plug

No in CI engine, we don't use spark plug. In CI engine we use Fuel Injectors/Nozzles.
