    Max velocity of 833.9 MPH (Mach 1.24)
    Height of jump 128,100 feet (approximate value)
    Duration of fall 4:20 (approximate value)
    Length of fall 119,800 feet (approximate value)
    After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. Felix reached a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h (833mph) through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

    If nothing else, humanity should still owe him some gratitude for this jump. He risked his own life to help further our species.
    It was a major advancement for the human race and for science #thanksFelix

    • @jugg9140
      @jugg9140 2 роки тому

      i don't know if it is extraordinary when you have a space suit and oxygen supply as if you are going to the moon, i mean no disrespect but, the first time i heard, i thought it was going to be like those sky diving, but anyone can do this with a suit.

    • @danjames4086
      @danjames4086 2 роки тому

      Jugg91...do you really think so? I'm not so sure if anyone could do it....otherwise sign me up!
      Yes, biologically he needed the suit so in that sense yes, he's no different to the rest of us.
      However I think the skill involved in this lies in how he controls himself. Skydiving relies on minute body movements to 'ride' the air at 120 mph or thereabouts. Felix does something completely different here; the air up there is so thin, it's density is changing dramatically as he falls, so he needs to recalibrate his control all of the time. Once he reaches denser air it's hitting him way faster than it would hit even the most experienced 'normal' skydiver, and needs to be taken into account with every movement.
      I could only imagine it's like riding a bicycle on a surface that goes from asphalt to ice is seconds, whilst dealing with wind that goes from 0 - 700 mph in an instant. Bonkers.

      @@danjames4086 there is no difference than putting a dog in a suit and drop him from that height and remotely deploy parachute for the dog at the right time and land him safely, now if the dude was jumping off with tshirts and jeans and nothing but goggles and parachute, that would be impressive.

    1:00:19 look just below the top altitude meter, between the 3 and the 9. There's a very clear, very straight line running from the meter to the capsule. For those who don't know, that's a clear seam of a composite image. If you look around this most egregious one, you can see other, more discreet seams.

    • @Ramurod
      @Ramurod 4 роки тому +1

      No, its just because humans have seperated the landscape symetrically like that. Let it maybe be a street in between two fields, one huge field with plants on one side and just a plain field without any plants on the other side. Even forests have clear and completely straight outside lines in most cases. Have a look earlier in the video 33:33 on the top right part for example. There are lines everywere. So your theory sucks and I dont get what you what to tell us in all of your other comments to be honest. If you would have ever done a parachute jump then you would see with your own eyes, that every landscape is completely symetrically because humans have influenced almost every piece of land. Maybe in giant countrys like russia or australia you can find parts of land that are still completely natural. In every other more dense populated country every piece of land is split up, has its owner and is used for different purposes. With a clear outer border and depending what plants or rocks or dirt you have on that fields the colour is slightly different and thats the reason why this lines are visible

    • @theswagman1263
      @theswagman1263 4 роки тому +10

      Are you dense. You don't just get into orbit by going high enough, you have to be going about mach 20 horizontal to the earth's surface

    • @ComputerSchool101
      @ComputerSchool101 4 роки тому +11

      Just going straight up, you won't go into orbit. You could keep going up forever, and still fall back down once you stopped moving. However, there are other big bodies in space that could interfere. For example, you could get pulled by the moon's gravity instead. But if nothing interfered at all, you would still fall back to Earth. There's a lot more science to it. For example, if you went fast enough, called escape velocity, you could "overcome" earth's gravity. But that's still a freefall. Anyways, I won't get into details. Someone else can if they wish. Lol
