Definitely would be a much cheaper way to try it out vs buying. And, if Elon makes good in his promise of a month free trial, that could bring in a lot of interest. You could get 75 months of subscription for the same price as the outright purchase. If I ever buy new, I would probably go the subscription route.
I was only able to justify it by buying a used Tesla that had the software package. The used market prices for cars with the FSD software are within $1000-$2000 of the cars that don’t have it.
