4:15 what is the reasoning behind discarding a chemister’s insight to jumpstart a chemister’s insight? Isn’t it strictly better to just hard cast the one in your hand? Hard casting the one in your hand will get you the same effect, but leave you with 2 CIs in the graveyard to jumpstart later. Discarding one to jumpstart the other requires you to exile the one in your graveyard, so you will have only have one in your graveyard for future use.
StagNelson Work it out with physical cards both ways. You will have the exact same cards on field, in hand, and same mana available. The only difference is you will have 1 or 2 copies of Insight in your graveyard depending on if you cast the one in your hand or the one in your graveyard. There is basically no real reason to ever pitch any jumpstart card to another copy of itself.

The only other elf it works well with is Steel Leaf Champion, in which case you could just as easily be playing stompy instead of elves. Otherwise, Pelt Collector maxes out as a 2/2 as mentioned previously. For my elf deck I'd rather have the recently-rotated Narnam Renegade as my additional one-drop creature (after Llanowar Elves of course). If I'm playing Selesnya elves, I'd probably go with Flower // Flourish in place of the Pelt Collector.
The realization that Millstone might become a relevant card in standard sideboards. It might prove to be an effective strategy against surveils ability to set up their next draw.
Been playing Jeskai Control on Arena, just went 7-1 on competitive. Running 1 Ral and 2 Teferi, he definitely helps close out the game and never really feels bad. Clarion and justice Strike are fantastic so far. Also a 2 of Mission Briefing has worked pretty well.. it can Surveil at worst at EoT to clutch some answers to the top.
Divine Visitation has good interplay with the 4/4 Selesnya knight that creates two tokens when it dies...it's an on board threat of two 4/4 angels that demands exile removal some other form of not dying
Jacob Dammons how about with Emarra or Leonine Warleader (tapped and attacking) in play? or Saproling migration, or Slimefoot, Sai, master thopterist..so many choices!
Pelt collector sounds like fun in a deck based on +1/+1 counters, especially along with cards that could move the counters off of Pelt Collector onto other creatures.
Really great video. Lots of really good insight. I would like to mention something about "Mission Statement: Doesn't "target" you "choose"". That's MASSIVE. I think maybe you've undervalued just how good it is. Also, you can cast alternative costs as you are not Flashing it back like Snapcaster. Both amazing - Mission Statement is really neat. Also, even if it's "worse" than Snap, that's a mental card, a slightly worse version is still absolutely super :) x

Vine Mare is real and it just smashes face. mix that with the Elf knight and probably the new Pelt collector and deck is about built and smashing in. With all that power throw in a few Ghalta and what deck can keep up? Citywide bust leaves u crying but other wise, ur evasive and either hard to target or ur creatures are bigger than bolts. im leaving to build this deck now!!!!

Runaway Steam-kin and Niv-Mizzet is incredible cards, I pair them with 10 burn spells (incl. Spit flame), dragons hoard, demanding dragon and Bolas. Pump the Steam-kin to 2/2, round 4 fiery cannonade, round 5 Sarkhan and/or demanding dragon or Bolas which could be done with three lands since you have a 4/4 Steam-kin...
If you put Divine Visitaion together with Spirit Bonds (2 drop, whenever nontoken creature enters the battlefield, you may pay one white and create a 1/1 flying spirit) and Raise the Alarm (2 drop, create 2 1/1 creatures onto battlefield) you can make A LOT of damn good angels. Just saying ;) EDIT: If you also put March of the Multitudes in there, it is EVEN better ;)
This is going to be the dopest standard in a super long time. I think G/W convoke/cities blessing using a knights sub theme. I think counterbolt looks dope too. I was not a believer but I’m converted My last standard deck was frickin Goblin Bidding but I’m coming back for this!
Emmara could pair nicely with a ton of things in a R/G/W deck. The R/G elves from Dominaria, and some nice new cards would make this awesome with mentor.

I'm playing a 5 color deck for standard. With the Lantern, circuitous route, and Gift of Paradise it is very very easy to get whatever colors you want.
Really surprised that Dream Eater isn't on here at all. I don't think it's by any means in the top 20 or so but I do think it should probably be in the top 25-30 somewhere. It is a pretty stacked card.
I love swiftblade vindicator but I’m glad I watched this because it is pretty vulnerable.....that being said, I’m still gonna run 4. Now I know I just need to be careful.

Oh, divine visitation indeed can get totally ridiculous if you can control the board until you get it out. Dawn of hope, history of benalia, heroic reinforcements, call the calvary, legion warboss, benalish marshal. I had 20 4/4 angels just floating around on arena today just completely toying with my opponent lol. Also they are settle the wreckage proof, shock and bolt proof, they're only tokens, but if they cleansing nova they can't kill all the angels and the divine/dawn of hope so the flock just doesn't end once it's online lol
I've made a selesnya, abzan, and mono green decks in arena. I was unable to not include Pelt Collector in all of them. For me, if my deck includes green Pelt collector is 100% going to be in it.

I bet its in the top 10 sleepers video, but im surprised that Risk Factor isnt on the list, and fairly high up the list at that. 3 mana instant speed repeatable burn or draw 3 is insanely good for both modern burn and standard counter burn.
I play a play set of midnight reaper in my B/W knights deck and it’s insane. If you can get multiple out and trade off one of your 1 or two drops you just win the game through card advantage most of the time. Yet people keep telling me to only run two to three 😑
Herald of the Pantheon + Saproling token enchantment(or any other cheap generator) + Divine Visitation are a great synergy in other formats really this makes Green/White Enchantments even more broken AF, I can easily cheap enchants that pump out cheap 1/1 saproling tokens to easily transform to 4/4Angels even worse is pairing this with Elspeth

Great vid, but I would not have rated warboss that high. Its only a 2/2 body that wants to attack otherwise it will only feed the tokens to most twodrops with 2 toughness. It comes out on turn 3 and can attack and get value on turn 4 usually, during that time your opponent most of the time has an answer to block him already. If he had haste, he would be a lot better, since he is really slow for what he wants to do. Sure you can buff him a little or just kill the blocker, but its still just a 2/2 which dies to so many things. But that's my opinion. Keep up the great vids!
Yeah, was glad that fatal push was going away cause of how cost/effective it was and how bad it felt to get your significant creature killed for 1 mana, but at least you could sort of played around it... but then they printed booty trophy...
Proposal- New Rule: Shock Lands, Fetch Lands, Check Lands, Dual Lands are #1.5 on all “Top “ lists. Unmoored Ego is so strong, being able to copy/recast it is Traumatize into Haunting Echoes Level jank. Ex: If cast 4 times (plausible by turn 6) , naming only basic/dual lands/shocklands, that’s 16 Lands. Practically Game Over. Assassin Trophy is a gamble, it’s effectively a T4+ card and even then, giving the opponent an extra land is Game ending dangerous. Vraska is a winner, Tajic & Aurelia are sick, not to mention Tajic protects your dudes from Deafening Clarion. U/R looks to be good, especially w/ things like Squee, the new browbeat, all the burn & all the blue. Tons of 1-3 cmc cantrips/spells, great creatures, Ral is ok, will see as much play as Tezzeret, Art Master. Only con to U/R is that Mono Red is still hot, fast, & consistent. Mono green is approaching ludicrous. T2 Steel Leaf into T3 Ferrox! GG. Looking forward to prerelease!
Agree with MOST of you assessments. I also agree that Unmoored Ego is very strong. But certainly NOT because it can name lands. If you opponent doesnt have all the lands he needs by turn 6 (your estimate when you could have removed a significant number of lands, not mine), then either A) You are winning anyway and this is a win more card- you may have even thrown away the potential win by doing nothing but pulling lands out of their deck for 6 turns. B) You are playing vs control, and you didnt resolve actually resolve that many Egos and they still have plenty of lands to draw into.

I think there's a bit of a sleeper missing in the form of notion rain. A glimmer of genius for 3 mana is insane, and is at least as good as assassin's trophy when we talk about making small sacrifices for huge value. Not to mention on curve synergy with spybug, and phantasm for early aggression. Well maybe not quite as good, but almost.
I'm running a Muldrotha list on arena, and notion rain is really perfect for that deck, even though its not a creature. It takes up 4 of the 6 non-permanent spell slots, and the other 2 will eventually be assassins trophy
While I agree notion rain is pretty sweet and I would say people have been sleeping on this in that I literally hadn't heard of it before but unfortunately I think that it is unplayable in a format with chemister's insight as that instant speed is important. In a control deck I don't think anyone cares about the difference between 3 and 4 mana in comparison to instant vs sorcery. The play pattern for these draw spells is leaving mana up and then tapping out on end step for card draw so that you can threaten counters without wasting mana. That said it might be quite good in a UB midrange deck as the instant speed is a little less important though that deck might just go sultai for assassin's trophy and then instant speed is a threat again. idk
chemisters insight has insane costs associated with it. You get no scry's, and you have to pay the 4 mana twice and you discard a card. Instant speed for a bad card, is still not terrible useful in my opinion. I feel similarly about radical idea, like wow your just worst then opt. Jump start is just a izzet mechanic so they get lots of triggers.
Justin Schmitz hey man wow not trying to get into a fight or anything. My main point is that the cards have different roles. Also i don't know what you're smoking but chemistry insight is the nuts in a control deck. notion rain doesn't achieve most of the point of these cards in this slot. It lets you hold up mana without wasting it. Being able to do that twice by turning any card in your hand into a second copy is huge. Its effect is worse as a result but the value is still there. radical Idea is a different card and yes I would probably rather play opt but the sorcery speed on notion rain just makes it a different but really awesome card that I will be trying to find a slot for in some of my decks. but yeah its not really instant speed for a bad card that matters its more instant speed for any card playable into an empty board for value to avoid being punished for the control play pattern.

I love swiftblade vindicator but I’m glad I watched this because it is pretty vulnerable.....that being said, I’m still gonna run 4. Now I know I just need to be careful.

Oh, divine visitation indeed can get totally ridiculous if you can control the board until you get it out. Dawn of hope, history of benalia, heroic reinforcements, call the calvary, legion warboss, benalish marshal. I had 20 4/4 angels just floating around on arena today just completely toying with my opponent lol. Also they are settle the wreckage proof, shock and bolt proof, they're only tokens, but if they cleansing nova they can't kill all the angels and the divine/dawn of hope so the flock just doesn't end once it's online lol
I've made a selesnya, abzan, and mono green decks in arena. I was unable to not include Pelt Collector in all of them. For me, if my deck includes green Pelt collector is 100% going to be in it.
Knight of Autumn is kolagans command but one of the modes you're forced to choose is a 2/1 body. Seems legit.

I bet its in the top 10 sleepers video, but im surprised that Risk Factor isnt on the list, and fairly high up the list at that. 3 mana instant speed repeatable burn or draw 3 is insanely good for both modern burn and standard counter burn.
I play a play set of midnight reaper in my B/W knights deck and it’s insane. If you can get multiple out and trade off one of your 1 or two drops you just win the game through card advantage most of the time. Yet people keep telling me to only run two to three 😑

Herald of the Pantheon + Saproling token enchantment(or any other cheap generator) + Divine Visitation are a great synergy in other formats really this makes Green/White Enchantments even more broken AF, I can easily cheap enchants that pump out cheap 1/1 saproling tokens to easily transform to 4/4Angels even worse is pairing this with Elspeth

Great vid, but I would not have rated warboss that high. Its only a 2/2 body that wants to attack otherwise it will only feed the tokens to most twodrops with 2 toughness. It comes out on turn 3 and can attack and get value on turn 4 usually, during that time your opponent most of the time has an answer to block him already. If he had haste, he would be a lot better, since he is really slow for what he wants to do. Sure you can buff him a little or just kill the blocker, but its still just a 2/2 which dies to so many things. But that's my opinion. Keep up the great vids!
Yeah, was glad that fatal push was going away cause of how cost/effective it was and how bad it felt to get your significant creature killed for 1 mana, but at least you could sort of played around it... but then they printed booty trophy...

Proposal- New Rule: Shock Lands, Fetch Lands, Check Lands, Dual Lands are #1.5 on all “Top “ lists.
Unmoored Ego is so strong, being able to copy/recast it is Traumatize into Haunting Echoes Level jank.
Ex: If cast 4 times (plausible by turn 6) , naming only basic/dual lands/shocklands, that’s 16 Lands. Practically Game Over.
Assassin Trophy is a gamble, it’s effectively a T4+ card and even then, giving the opponent an extra land is Game ending dangerous.
Vraska is a winner, Tajic & Aurelia are sick, not to mention Tajic protects your dudes from Deafening Clarion.
U/R looks to be good, especially w/ things like Squee, the new browbeat, all the burn & all the blue. Tons of 1-3 cmc cantrips/spells, great creatures, Ral is ok, will see as much play as Tezzeret, Art Master. Only con to U/R is that Mono Red is still hot, fast, & consistent.
Mono green is approaching ludicrous. T2 Steel Leaf into T3 Ferrox! GG.

Agree with MOST of you assessments. I also agree that Unmoored Ego is very strong. But certainly NOT because it can name lands. If you opponent doesnt have all the lands he needs by turn 6 (your estimate when you could have removed a significant number of lands, not mine), then either A) You are winning anyway and this is a win more card- you may have even thrown away the potential win by doing nothing but pulling lands out of their deck for 6 turns. B) You are playing vs control, and you didnt resolve actually resolve that many Egos and they still have plenty of lands to draw into.

I think there's a bit of a sleeper missing in the form of notion rain. A glimmer of genius for 3 mana is insane, and is at least as good as assassin's trophy when we talk about making small sacrifices for huge value. Not to mention on curve synergy with spybug, and phantasm for early aggression. Well maybe not quite as good, but almost.
I'm running a Muldrotha list on arena, and notion rain is really perfect for that deck, even though its not a creature. It takes up 4 of the 6 non-permanent spell slots, and the other 2 will eventually be assassins trophy
While I agree notion rain is pretty sweet and I would say people have been sleeping on this in that I literally hadn't heard of it before but unfortunately I think that it is unplayable in a format with chemister's insight as that instant speed is important. In a control deck I don't think anyone cares about the difference between 3 and 4 mana in comparison to instant vs sorcery. The play pattern for these draw spells is leaving mana up and then tapping out on end step for card draw so that you can threaten counters without wasting mana. That said it might be quite good in a UB midrange deck as the instant speed is a little less important though that deck might just go sultai for assassin's trophy and then instant speed is a threat again. idk
chemisters insight has insane costs associated with it. You get no scry's, and you have to pay the 4 mana twice and you discard a card. Instant speed for a bad card, is still not terrible useful in my opinion. I feel similarly about radical idea, like wow your just worst then opt. Jump start is just a izzet mechanic so they get lots of triggers.
Justin Schmitz hey man wow not trying to get into a fight or anything. My main point is that the cards have different roles. Also i don't know what you're smoking but chemistry insight is the nuts in a control deck. notion rain doesn't achieve most of the point of these cards in this slot. It lets you hold up mana without wasting it. Being able to do that twice by turning any card in your hand into a second copy is huge. Its effect is worse as a result but the value is still there. radical Idea is a different card and yes I would probably rather play opt but the sorcery speed on notion rain just makes it a different but really awesome card that I will be trying to find a slot for in some of my decks. but yeah its not really instant speed for a bad card that matters its more instant speed for any card playable into an empty board for value to avoid being punished for the control play pattern.
