Chariot on 4, Wrenn on 5, create the treefolk, use it to crew chariot, clone the treefolk. Weeeeeeeeeee...... Feel free to do this a turn earlier with any ramp like Jaspera.
I think the red Adversary is the best 2/2 for 2 with haste is exactly what mono red wants but it also not feeling dead if drawn late into a game that your opponent may have stalled out is huge.
Thanks! spread love and be kind! (Rambling: at fisrt i had a sound in the background and heard spread love eat carrots, which is solid advice... 2nd time around i've heard 'eat kind' whichis well, very good as well like, "treat yourself with kind meals, take care of yourself" what a nice peice of advice. just though i share that too)
I'm so excited for this set, Innistrad is my favorite plane by far and I love the direction they took this set. Out of all the cars in this set Champion of the Perished hypes me up the most.
17:07 That Tovolar alternate art is so freaking sweet. Normally the comic book style is kinda hit-or-miss for me, but THAT iteration is flying on all cylinders compared to the original.
I have loved everything I've seen from this set so far, and I am so excited to take my girl (who LOVES horror stuff and magic) to finally get to play some Innistrad outside of our spooky cube.
Lier is going to be great in my Vadrok commander deck, and 100 historic brawl. In commander their's only like 15/16 mutate centric cards in jeskai. So the deck is dedicated into trying to draw into those creatures hence an overabundance of draw spells 3 mana or less. But sometimes the deck stalls out when I don't have a draw spell in my hand, and no way to mutate trigger Vadrok to cast one out of my yard either. Lier would allow me to flashback spells out of my yard in case something like that happens. A good back up plan for when the deck isn't cooperating
I've been playing Kessing Naturlist + Sunrise Cavalier into cards like Unnatural Moonrise etc and the cavalier is nuts, even as a 3/3 hasty trample with upsides, the day and night thing happens so often, he is like a mini luminant aspirant. I expect the cavalier to climb higher the more weeks we get into standard. Super good list.
I'm with you Dev...Primal Adversary is the best card in the set. The flexibility to play it on curve for a 4/3 trample, or topdeck it late game and just go bananas. I think it's just gonna be a finisher in like every deck with green in it, bc it doesn't have to just rot in your hand like a typical finisher
The focus in this set seems to be on value generating creatures in the CMC 3-5 range. All of them can be removed pretty easily if you don't pay attention, but, well, otherwise they would just be to good. I think Slogurk, the Overslime is very strong. In a deck based on sacrificing lands, it quickly becomes a 6/6 trample for 3 and when it dies brings you back 3 utility lands for free. I think Florian, Voldaren Scion, is extremely good as well. It's perfect for aggro decks, where you are supposed to attack each turn. Works even better with menace decks, which are good at pushing damage through. The stats alone are quite good, but what really makes this card superb is, it basically gives you a free draw each turn. There are not many cards giving aggro decks card advantage without slowing them down. This is one of them. I'm surprised you didn't mention Augur of Autumn, which can give a creature-based deck insane amounts of card advantage. When combine with a card that let's you play extra lands, you can effectively draw as many cards you can play per turn.
So I play an abzan cleric deck and it’s taken off like a rocket with some cards from innistrad. Both 1 drop white human clerics with disturbed, the 1 drop green treefolk, and the 4 drop sigarda enchantment. This deck is built around teleportation circle. The lifegain is bonkers. Nearly all my cards have ETB triggers. Have innkeeper and merchant treasure, have loads of dungeon venturing, 2 kayas, and 2 westgate regents. Regent has won me games against other lifegain Easy - swings for 50. My mana is consistent, rarely mulligan, and the cards all play nice. Plat 3 right now, but I’m waiting on about 4 more rare wilds to get my card counts right. It’s so much fun
Please never stop the puns. Been watching you for years and they're probably half the reason I love your content so much. I mean, even as an adult, Cloud with a Chance of Meatballs is my favorite movie and it is nothing but gut wrenching puns. Also I just generally enjoy your voice and opinions on mtg cards and insane amount of content and work you put in ESPECIALLY around new releases!
super strong list, both this one and the sleepers. These lists from Dev are easily one of my favorite parts of getting new sets in standard, they always get me fired up to start brewing and testing lists. top tier magic content. Ive been hearing and seeing people trash on Moonveil Regent, card looks super strong, not sure what people are missing when they evaluate it, i was glad to hear you were keen to its potential to be super strong even in a mono red deck where i think it will have a home in almost immediately.....another super strong red dragon..... they draw you cards, make you treasure, have haste, one has a fire-breathing ability that can win you the game, and they are very good at smashing OPs life to zero. shheeesh
I think with intrepid adversay is that if you put +1/1 counters on it by any means it boosts up your entire board as someone who played Jorega warcaller and imperius perfect a huge 1/1 bump on hi can win games
Biggest sleeper BY FAR is Jack-O'-Lantern. Literally perfect sideboard card for any 3c/4c control or combo deck. (Might even be mainboard if post-rotation meta turns out heavily focused on graveyard)
Oh my God I've watched like dozens of your videos and I just noticed that we have the same Mona plush from p5 collectors. Still use the awesome Shujin academy bag that came with it. Anyway always appreciate your opinions and have a good one.
I think people are really underestimating Teferi. T3 Teferi>+1>untap a land and a mana dork>gain 2 life>hold up 2 mana sounds strong. And the ultimate is game over; draw 2 cards/cycle and hold up all your stuff...?
Huntmaster in my opinion is better than a lot of the things you had 20 to 10. He barely missed my top 10 list. He is probably the best ramp payoff now due to him not requiring a second color.
Thanks for the awesome video! I opened a box of this last night and immediately fell in love with the set. Set was so sick that my girlfriend ended up getting interested enough to learn how to play Magic😳🔥
I have a question about adversaries. I almost always hold out to play them for at least one proc of their kickers. is playing them turn 2 or turn 3 without kickers a waste would you say?
If I had the wildcards I would love to play a Bant humans deck in this standard format using Pyre of Heroes, Teferi and Katilda. Teferi can untap a land, a dork from Katilda and Pyre to give perfect mana to activate it twice a turn, and you can do gross things with the white adversary. Only real problem is a lack of one drop humans, but maybe Star Pupil and Codespell Cleric could be good enough? Regardless, this set is the sweetest thing that’s come out of Magic in a while in terms of hype, so many new decks! EDIT: just realised suspicious stowaway is a human on the front side, this might be pretty legit
You're right on with Sigarda and Katilda. I've already worked both of them into a sweet Selesnya League of Legends deck. Drop a comment if you're interested, I'm happy to share. 😉
You guys are forgetting the best card in the set! Old Stickfingers. Amaziballs dark art, CEDH viable, will work with the shroom guy in T2, modern dredge will play him as an enabler. Card is just insane and I've bought 316 showcase copies so far.
I think you might be underrating Augur of Autumn. I think it probably should have been at least in your honorable mentions, and I think it is above Deathbonnet Sprout. It makes it just insanely easy to go wide with green, leading to situations where you are both going wide and going tall at the same time. It also allows you to hold back two creatures as insurance against sweepers, and then just restock incredibly fast, putting the opponent into a situation where they really need to either have two sweepers back to back or spot removal for the Augur, or to just die horribly. "Can't Stay Away" is really annoying to play against, but I don't think it is as good as the Augur of Autumn. Likewise, I think Augur of Autumn is better than Dennick. I just can't find a deck to put Dennick in. Teferi is not as good as Wrenn and Seven. Maybe switch those two. Meathook Massacre might be the most underrated card in the set.
26:22 the worst one black ? Its the best one 💯 because it puts out 8 instead of 1 for all the other color adversary. "Twice as much" zombie tokens and u can have +1+1 counters on it for how many times u cast the spell.
The more I read Wrenn and Seven, the more I feel like it's home is in a Golgari Reanimator deck. Current Standard doesn't have a TON of good reanimator cards, but Innistrad is giving us some. We have 2 self mill cards now for 1 mana. Deathbonnet for Green, and Egon's artifact side. Both of which feed Ghoulcaller's Harvest and Old Stickfingers. Perhaps I'm wrong, but the +1 and the +8 SCREAM Reanimator. Also, this same build would be a good home for Consuming Blob... Thoughts?
Quote : It doesn't do much the turn it comes into play except for an anthem effect. Stated 4/4 flying and trample for 4 mana, that may draw a card, with an anthem effect? Dev, remember when anthem costed 3, for just an anthem? Let s be real, the power is delivering on sigarda, and it blocks dragons.
god damn no one can agree on adversaries my own playgroup thinks the white is the worst one because of how it's effect is immediately gone to removal, compared to the rest which have some kind of effect even if they themselves get removed, and my online buds are saying green is worst insanity
you missed out on faithful mending, gain life and control lands from flooding or not, also shock scry, surveil draw, bounce scry for 1 and surveil 3 for 1 are all solid cards
Ormendahl I think flipping to get this guy is very hard and not worth but I believe this is the first time in magic history where its straight: sac and draw a card?.
Good list! I think it could have been a top 10 though, because some of those cards just look bad to me. Anyway it's your list, and I respect you. Love your content!
been enjoying the new standard, although goldspan and Epiphany stick out like a sore thumb as the 2 cards that also saw play in the previous, broken standard. I'm guessing most people don't want a ban, however i would lean towards it.
It's a pity that Sigardan Savior isn't a Cleric; it could've been really cool to slam that down and then get back a Wizard and either a Warrior or a Rogue for the Party deck.
Chariot on 4, Wrenn on 5, create the treefolk, use it to crew chariot, clone the treefolk. Weeeeeeeeeee...... Feel free to do this a turn earlier with any ramp like Jaspera.
super sweet interaction, one im sure we will be seeing for a long time
Thanks I hate it already
Thanks for the jank.
It is that man again!
I 100% wasn’t expecting it
Hahaha omg
Banger open
I think the red Adversary is the best 2/2 for 2 with haste is exactly what mono red wants but it also not feeling dead if drawn late into a game that your opponent may have stalled out is huge.
Legit look forward to these videos before every set release, thanks Dev!
Thanks! spread love and be kind!

Dev you’re the man! Been following your Channel for 4 years now. First video I watched was a prerelease guide for Ravnica
I'm so excited for this set, Innistrad is my favorite plane by far and I love the direction they took this set. Out of all the cars in this set Champion of the Perished hypes me up the most.
Subbed for the chrono cross and reptar on ice in the background. Dude knows his stuff
17:07 That Tovolar alternate art is so freaking sweet. Normally the comic book style is kinda hit-or-miss for me, but THAT iteration is flying on all cylinders compared to the original.
It's super cool I agree
Dev: Go watch the sleepers video after this...
Me, who has already watched it three times: “Okay! 🧟♂️”
I have loved everything I've seen from this set so far, and I am so excited to take my girl (who LOVES horror stuff and magic) to finally get to play some Innistrad outside of our spooky cube.
I think the problem with Primal Adversary is that your spending mana (mostly land) to make creatures that are tapped.
Yeah that's kind of a bummer
0:25 This made me snort laugh at my desk at work. Dude your brand of humor is so great! 🤣
Lier is going to be great in my Vadrok commander deck, and 100 historic brawl. In commander their's only like 15/16 mutate centric cards in jeskai. So the deck is dedicated into trying to draw into those creatures hence an overabundance of draw spells 3 mana or less. Lier would allow me to flashback spells out of my yard in case something like that happens. A good back up plan for when the deck isn't cooperating
Plus the deck runs all special variations on available cards it can and that lier in the foil eternal darkness art is going to be gorgeous
Came here to find some card for my new commander deck with tovolar and it really helped me realize what I need more of. Thank you so much
I've been playing Kessing Naturlist + Sunrise Cavalier into cards like Unnatural Moonrise etc and the cavalier is nuts, even as a 3/3 hasty trample with upsides, the day and night thing happens so often, he is like a mini luminant aspirant. I expect the cavalier to climb higher the more weeks we get into standard. Super good list.
Stop apologizing your puns! Own them and love them!
I like that he does that, it adds character.
I appreciated the apology for wrenn ate nine.
I'm with you Dev...Primal Adversary is the best card in the set. The flexibility to play it on curve for a 4/3 trample, or topdeck it late game and just go bananas. spread love and be kind, what a legend
Set feels like it has way better build around cards than the last two. Looking forward to trying it out.
Bro you had me dying laughing, I felt like I was on the end of a hilarious boxing combination after you hit me with like 8 puns in a row
The puns were just as delightful as I knew they would be. I also think Burn Down the House is the truth. Great list Dev!
That casting restriction is nice for playing my buddy who runs mind flayed and similar creature stealing cards
I'm pumped for this set for a lot of reasons but your videos make my hype meter overflow like I'm about to Buster Wolf
Meathook and Black Adversary already have slots in my Golgari snow list. Those cards are bonkers!
I think with intrepid adversay is that if you put +1/1 counters on it by any means it boosts up your entire board as someone who played Jorega warcaller and imperius perfect a huge 1/1 bump on hi can win games

As a personal request I'd love if you'd work in "Chupacabra" in your next intro rhymes again. I miss it.
For a second I thought I saw this video already, then I realized You already covered every single card 💪😅
Cause “you know how I am”. Dev bringing back the proper grammar 😎
Thanks for the awesome video! I opened a box of this last night and immediately fell in love with the set. Set was so sick that my girlfriend ended up getting interested enough to learn how to play Magic😳🔥
Hey, you, from the place... I love you my dude
I have a question about adversaries. I almost always hold out to play them for at least one proc of their kickers. is playing them turn 2 or turn 3 without kickers a waste would you say?
Dennick does not give you a clue token when the disturbed side dies as it does not go to the graveyard but is exiled instead.
Poppet factory is one I'm excited for since it takes away decayed from zombie tokens :D
0:59 vote for Pedro.
If I had the wildcards I would love to play a Bant humans deck in this standard format using Pyre of Heroes, Teferi and Katilda. Ooh, Dennick. I have nicknamed him Douglas, and put him in my Ghost Bear Monks deck.
You're right on with Sigarda and Katilda. I've already worked both of them into a sweet Selesnya League of Legends deck. Drop a comment if you're interested, I'm happy to share. 😉
Love the initial D reference.
I'm really looking forward to the angel deck
Nice list. Really enjoying Arlinn atm. Green mythic wolf looks better than I thought! I may have to craft two.
the cap is high...kudos, sir. Kudos.
I am so ready for Throne of Eldraine to rotate out!
Yes!
You guys are forgetting the best card in the set! Old Stickfingers. Amaziballs dark art, CEDH viable, will work with the shroom guy in T2, modern dredge will play him as an enabler. Card is just insane and I've bought 316 showcase copies so far.
I haven't played or bought any magic since dominaria and I am getting some of this!! And trying again
Memory Deluge may be modern playable running pact to negation to guarantee a counter at a key moment
I think you might be underrating Augur of Autumn. I think it probably should have been at least in your honorable mentions, and I think it is above Deathbonnet Sprout. Meathook Massacre might be the most underrated card in the set.
I hit the like button when Dev blind sided us with "yes, the card is fire"
Dev: mommy it's that man again
Me: *spits orange juice all over my steering wheel* 🤣🤣🤣
26:22 the worst one black ? Its the best one 💯 because it puts out 8 instead of 1 for all the other color adversary. "Twice as much" zombie tokens and u can have +1+1 counters on it for how many times u cast the spell.
Dev I'm sorry to say but I think you might have forgotten why memory deluge is so good. Remember a little card called drawn from dreams
Yoo deathsprout cap might be kinda spicy. I'm into simic stompy with this and Slogurk
Sweet initial d t shirt, for a sec i was like wtf is that from.
I put liesa, the angel in my killian histroic Com deck ..love her already
The more I read Wrenn and Seven, the more I feel like it's home is in a Golgari Reanimator deck. Current Standard doesn't have a TON of good reanimator cards, but Innistrad is giving us some. dennicks wording makes it so it should never touch the yard. i might be wrong
Love the Content man
"Portabell-ver of secrets" gives me life
If your artifact is a sol ring, that’s Freeferi.
"Mommy it's that man again" you fucking savage lmao
Quote : It doesn't do much the turn it comes into play except for an anthem effect. Stated 4/4 flying and trample for 4 mana, that may draw a card, with an anthem effect? I came for the ranking, stayed for the puns.
you missed out on faithful mending, gain life and control lands from flooding or not, also shock scry, surveil draw, bounce scry for 1 and surveil 3 for 1 are all solid cards
Dev, I am strictly a commander player. You howlever are my favorite mtg content creator! I efing hate puns though 😉
Dev has by far the best intro lines ;)
Ormendahl I think flipping to get this guy is very hard and not worth but I believe this is the first time in magic history where its straight: sac and draw a card?.
I always forget to like; thanks for the reminders
Jirard+mask=2 card draw for black equip the mask to the decayed zombie each turn it's two cards to draw 4 black
Haha dropping more puns than the Crypt Keeper over here
Love the initial d shirt
Dev talkin bout shroom caps. I'm feelin that
Good list! I think it could have been a top 10 though, because some of those cards just look bad to me. Anyway it's your list, and I respect you. Love your content!
That shirt is freakin'awesome!
Dev, I think people are not understanding that a nightbound card can enter the game on the nightbound side. So there are some really jank plays there.
"Mommy it's that man again" 🤣🤣🤣 dying
Awesome shirt Dev!
been enjoying the new standard, although goldspan and Epiphany stick out like a sore thumb as the 2 cards that also saw play in the previous, broken standard. I'm guessing most people don't want a ban, however i would lean towards it.
Never stop punning Dev
You beautiful pun man you.
Am I wrong of thinking of Meathook Massacre as a 2 mana bastion of remembrance?
Do you guys think there could be a mono blue control deck this season? My favourite deck archetype (flavour wise too)
Nooooo don't even try
@@thekevmeister77 why not though
Big drawback on Primal Adversary is that those lands that become creatures will probably be created tapped and are prone to removal.
May be a dumb question but, is that you rapping in the intro? And if so, is there a full version to listen to?
Dev got bars too
It's a pity that Sigardan Savior isn't a Cleric; it could've been really cool to slam that down and then get back a Wizard and either a Warrior or a Rogue for the Party deck.
I kind of love Slogurk. Hope that my ooze buddy works out
Got lucky and pulled meathook at the prerelease!
Kind of unrelated but man I hope they reprint Angel of Jubilation in crimson vow since they've refused to add it to Historic for some reason.
Mama, there goes that man.
Can you do an abzan aristocrats deck tech before standard rotates with cards like Nethroi bastion of remembrance agadeems awakening ect.
“Sorry I have like 5 honorable mentions”
