I almost spit my coffee out when I saw the "2 Months Later" line...isn't that the truth?! Bravo for these videos, it's obvious how much time and effort you put into them, and I'm super appreciative of you in helping level up our creative use of the drones. And for sharing your secrets! Thank you!
Nice work! something else worth mentioning is that the reverse hyperlapse is also useful to save battery life, in addition to having more options like you mentioned. Sometimes by the time you finish setting up the way points the drone can be really far away from the start position so it needs to fly all the way back before it even starts, draining your battery. If you do the reverse option it'll start immediately at your ending waypoint and work it's way back, saving you that flight to the start position.
Nice job, but I think the transition is way too fast than it could be. In after effects there arw Morph tools that could help to better sincronize the 2 imagens. You could use puppet tool to keep the bridge on place and create other points to align the other buildings around the city (only during the transition). It's a lot more work, I know, but the final result would be even better.
Great Tutorial for hyperlapse. I tried it today on mini 3 pro, it gave me warning current battery is not enough which I understand that drone will come back when battery is less than 20% & it returned to home at 20% but after that it should have continue to complete the hyperlapse from where it returned midway but after replacing the battery it started shooting the same hyperlapse from beginning 0/720 shots (it had already completed 330 shots) so my question is how to use Multiple battery for doing a longer 30 sec timelpase? Is it that after replacing battery I should simply press the hyperlapse record button & it should continue from where it was last or should I open my saved waypoint then start recording hyperlapse? Is there any instructions to shoot longer hyperlapse with multiple batteries? That's what I want to know.
You can only save the hyperlapse you set up. You can't pause it, then change batteries and resume. So you have to set up the hyperlapse with one battery, save it, and then switch to a fresh battery to execute. Works well if you have a Plus Battery. Also, the length could be just too long to execute with one battery.
Nice video! I have one question. I see that you use the day 3 interval & 1/4 shuter and the night 3 interval & 1/2.5" shuter. If i use the rule of 180 degrees (for example 2 interval & 1/4"shutter speed) i will have better motion blur and the cars will move slower? Thanks
Love the channel, and love your energy! I do have a problem however. I haven't flown my DJI Air 2s much in the last year, but when I began this spring I noticed that all those cool features were gone. I can't pick a point of interest and have the drone film it as it circles. To cut to the chase, has something changed with the DJI Fly App? I asked another gentleman who posts Air 2s videos on UA-cam and he said that it hasn't, but I fear flying the Air 2s now because the screen doesn't look the way it used to, even after I've done upgrades. I would appreciate any feedback you have. Kind Regards.
Hey Chad, you live in Reading? I am down across from Trenton. Be great to hook up one day and have u drop some knowledge on my a2s. Having issues seeing pic.. vids fine just pics. Good video man. Thanks
Can you give me a link to the adobe after effects you use. I'm finding many versions when I search it up. I would be looking for one to use with Apple Mac. Thanks! Great tutorial!
Great vid, extremely helpful. One question - why did you apply two different scales to the clips at 14:40? You did one at 120% and the other at 132% and i cannot figure out why...
Thanks...even at a scale of 100% one clip appeared to be scaled larger than the other at the same point in the hyperlapse. GPS is accurate, but not pin point accurate to where the drone would be in the exact same position in space during the next hyperlapse. Especially if there's wind evolved.
Chad and yet another great hyper lapse vid. I am getting ready to take my Air 2 out for a hyper lapse. I shot a 5 sec one the other day for practice and I notices that it didn't appear as I wanted and then I noticed that I could slow the whole thing down and that fixed it. Thanks for your help.
I've been trying to set my waypoints and then fly them, making a hyper-lapse, all on one battery. I had no idea that you could save the waypoints and fly them later. Thanks! That makes things a lot easier for me.
Great video! Looking through it now as I write so you might address this later in the video. But, when I have tried this myself I find that the starting point and the angle at which the camera is pointing is not excact for both of the shots. My solution has been to shoot several day and several night shots and then pick out the two day/night shots that are the most similar. Have you had any issues like this? Do you do a complete calibration of compas, IMU and controller before each flight? Thank you. Ivar
@@ChadB Thank you for your reply. Yes, its probably a good idea to calibrate as much as possible before starting the shooting. Keep making great videos!
Very informative video, Chad. Nicely done. So much work goes into these day to night hyperlapses but the end result is totally worth it. This has been in my bucket list of things to do with my drone. I will definitely give it a try now using your best practices. Thanks!
Hey Eddie...Thanks man. Yes it does take a little work. This is one reason why this video sat for a while. The two hyperlapses were way out of sync. The options were to scrap the video or to sit down and figure it out.
Hey Chad, Great work! Thank you for putting this together! Very helpful. Love the special effects and sounds you’ve incorporated into your video. I like your step by step process and your pace and style very genuine and authentic! Keep up the great work!

I've been looking for this subject. Last one I remember, DroneXfactor did an Air 2 over the East River in NY. Going to do this, and a 4 season one on the Mavic 3. Thank you Chad.
@chad B. Great video and thank you. I tried to copy your settings , but i just couldn't the the interval down to 3 seconds or the length to 10 seconds, unless i changed the shutter speed to 1 second. At a shutter speed of 2.5 second i could only get a minimum interval of 5 seconds and a maximum length of 7 seconds. Any idea why? Thanks
You may need to make the distance between the 1st waypoint and the last a little further. It also calculate the distance of your hyperlapse to determine the length and intervals as well.
Very interesting tutorial Chad! I was always interested of trying this one time, but never found the perfect spot to do it yet hehe. I will try it for sure in the Spring (still too frickin cold here in Montreal haha) Cheers man!
Thank you very much for this video and the explanations ! I have a question : for the night parameters with 2,5" shutter speed, is the Drone doing "Move-Shoot-Move , meaning to be not be moving when it takes the 2,5" photo ? / Thank you
Hey Chad, Ask u, as you Create Way point the image are Wider view, after your complete Hyperlapse video seen like hv Crop ! Did this Air 2s Hyperlapse completion video hv Crop image? Becoz I aso found my Hyperlapse video was Crop after completion create!
The photos are not cropped. The sequence is cropped after edited/processed. Either by the drone or if you do it yourself. It has to be cropped in order to stabilize it.
