    A very well put together bike. It’s cool that that with the alloy frame, it comes with S WORKS carbon components.
    The smart weld system is very clever. Might not look great with the bulging welds, but the stiffness of the BB and head tube area is right up there.

    If you are wondering why only his left portion of his body is in frame, he did not want to be on camera and I had to somehow try to conceal his face. Not the best way, I know, I will think of some other angles next time. Good for you guys who have knee fetishes' (left knee to be precise).

      hmm actually if that is the case, you can just focus fully on the bike. I think it is ok to have just the narration since in the moving shots we do get glimpses of the rider.

    An out of saddle sprint will only point out that you have spacers under the stem and the steerer tube will flex there. Carbon stems are mainly for integration, unless you go for ultralight stuff like Darimo, but difference in stiffness between carbon and alloy stems is impossible to notice.

    Interesting to see a local episode on alloy frame, and the Italia colour fork is very eyes catching.
    I’m also riding an alloy bike CAAD12 (upgraded from CAAD8), and went thru the journey of upgrading from 105 groupset to Ultegra and now SRAM Force AXS eTap. Wheelset also upgraded from Mavic alloy to Mavic Carbon to Winspace Hyper 38.
    A good alloy frame do hold up well to all these upgrades and remain a special bread.
    Hope to see more varieties of frameset including Ti frame, steel frame and other alloy frames

    • @OompaLoompaCycling
      @OompaLoompaCycling  2 роки тому +1

      @@erixcornius I had no creaking issues from my own alloy frame 5 years ago (pressfit). I guess it depends on your luck whichever BB standard you choose and whether it creaks. No one stop answer/solution to your question BUT from reviews and forums - pressfit seems to have lesser chance of getting a creak.
      The bike is mostly used for crits/sprints. Would be funny to see someone getting this bike just for climbs.

      @@erixcornius With sufficiently tight tolerances, PressFit BB standards are just as good, if not better.

    • @yonglingng5640
      @yonglingng5640 2 роки тому

      @@OompaLoompaCycling Whether a PressFit BB creaks is dependent on the BB shell's tolerances and the BB config you pick.
      Pure press-fit: Two halves of the BB press-fit into the frame. Most prone to creaking. Examples: Kogel, Shimano, SRAM
      Thread-together: One half of the BB threads itself into and closer to the other half. Not as prone to creaking, but not sure-fire invulnerable if BB shell tolerances are too loose. Examples: Enduro TorqTite lineup, Wheels Manufacturing, CeramicSpeed.
      (due to the BBs having splined cups, some riders may mistake them for threaded BBs)
      One-piece: As the name suggest, a single unit press-fits into the frame, usually from the left side. Takes longer to install, but doesn't creak and allows cranksets to spin nicely, even with steel bearings thanks to perfect bearing alignment. Currently, I know BBInfinite and Hambini manufacture them.
      (Remember: Bearing alignment is more important than a ball bearing's material when it comes to BB smoothness. A ceramic-bearing BB with less-than-ideal bearing alignment will never beat a steel-bearing BB with perfect bearing alignment.)

    I used to have one of those, same size different color, great looking bike, but a lot of toe overlap and I am shoe size 41. I think this was also the most uncomfortable I have ever owned. I loved the look but hated the experience.

    • @OompaLoompaCycling
      @OompaLoompaCycling  2 роки тому +1

      why was it uncomfortable? Too stiff?

    • @hmudesign
      @hmudesign 2 роки тому

      Yeah it was incredibly stiff and vibrated like a aluminum bike does. I think the geometry is also very aggressive, and unless you are very young and flexible, you can endure it on shorter rides. All those things together just made for a very un pleasant ride. I always felt so beaten up after riding it, that I ended up selling it. I can send you some pictures of it if you’d like, it was a really good looking bike.

      The first-gen Allez Sprint has been discontinued. Your best bet would be to look into the second-hand market.
      However, there will be some sellers who will try to mark it up. If you're serious about getting one, make sure you're truly happy with the frameset's condition as not everybody takes good care of their bikes. Bonus if the seller knows his/her bike well and I mean very well.
      If it needs new headset bearings, it may be hard to find online as it's a proprietary zero-stack headset.
