I'm a newbie to monkey bars and just do dead hangs but I love the results, e.g. better posture. Thanks for spreading the enthusiasm!
Glad to hear it 😎 keep loving it!
It’s my pleasure 🐒💪🏼
Funny thing . Notice how your the only one at the park . At my gym they have a whole monkey bar set up. Im the only one using it.
Most people can't do it. Your actually really strong. Almost as strong as me.
Ha ha only cos it’s super early otherwise it’s overrun with kids ☺️
But you are right, adults tend to shy away from this sort of stuff. We’ve forgotten how to do it 🐒💪🏼
Same at three calisthenics / outdoor gyms I know of. Empty. They get used but you can pretty well rock up any time and not see anyone.
They call me Tarzan at my gym
@@riddlescom i cannot trust you with this profile picture xD
*YES*
2:20 I love to superset handstand push-ups with monkey bars. Works opposing musculature in the upper body, feels amazing on the wrists and forearms when you get the stretch... I could go on for awhile. It's been a great addition to my training.
Dang this was a really good video, brah!
Yes indeed 💪🏼
Great superset! Good thinking 😎🤙🏼🐒
Funny seeing you here
Where is this video shot at? It’s like haven for monkey bars. Haha. Thanks for this video of affirmation.
If you mean the location that you see if the thumbnail then that’s Poole park in Dorset, South UK
The majority of my videos are shot in the Poole/Bournemouth area 😎🐒
Great video, working my way towards them. Will have to try that horizontal ladder move…
Thank you Paul 🐒
Yes it’s a challenging way to do them 💪🏼 full body!
Well said my friend! Keep Up the good work!
Thank you I will do 💪🏼🐒
You are the best m8. Great techniques you’ve shown
Thanks very much 🙏🏼😊 I hope it’s useful 💪🏼
I love monkey bar workouts! 👍👍
You and me both Evie 🐒💪🏼
Real good content
Thank you 🙏🏼😊 I hope it’s useful 💪🏼
wow youre so good at it, doing it efforlessly. just started them recently. its hard so hard. puts immense pressure on shoulder area
Thank you 🙏🏼😊 yes it definitely gets easier as the body starts to adapt! Keep going, I’m sure you’ll continue to improve 🐒 and have fun with it
Great exercise but my problem is soreness in the middle digits of the hands

@@rikkinetic will try to pad the bars with strips of self adhesive rubber padding, the gloves doesn't work well for me
Great video, have just been able to do them again in a local park, one of the main things was losing weight which might sounds obvious and I do not mean it to sound easy but it made a huge difference. Once I was back in the swing of it, literally, I was able to knock out 4 full sets on all 8 of the bars, the first 2 sets going 1 by one, but then quickly able to skip a bar. It is sort of like riding a bike, I was amazed since recently I could not do a 1 arm hang at all.
Great to hear! Keep going 💪🏼 it’ll only get better from here 🐒
great video
Thanks very much 🙏🏼🥷🏻🐒
monkey bars are fun, being a bodybuilder, I thought they were a waste of time, but i am glad they are not. thanks
Exactly! If you’re spending time having fun then it’s not a waste of time 😊
Cheers 💪🏼🐒
Legend! 👊🦁🌿
Thank you 🙏🏼😊💪🏼
I'm returning to monkey bars after ages. I need work. What's a good grip strength routine for longer hangs or pull-ups ? I can hang 36 sec & 8-10 pull-ups and 1 by 1 hand hand Halfway across a 15' monkey bar
Hanging with bands for assistance is always good. Just build up the time you can hang for. Break it up into sets if needs be
2-4 times a week should be enough.
You could even break it down further into shorter sets, say 20 second work 10 second rest for as many as 8 sets.
To get better at hanging you just need to hang really. I wouldn’t get bogged down with reps and sets too much, just get the time in.
If you want some fun hanging challenges

@@rikkinetic awesome m8! So encouraging. I look forward to trying it.
Keep me posted 🐒💪🏼
In grade-school I was undefeated in monkey-bar races, but by age 12 I was too tall to hang. Where are the adult-height bars?
We’re lucky to have a few adult monkey bars in our area! It seems there’s a few more calisthenics rigs popping up around Europe
So cool
Thank you 🙏🏼😊🐒
💪
I do monkey bars as a cardio (before hitting the machines) is it good ?
Yeah I think so! If you can do monkey bars to the level that it becomes cardio then that is a good level 💪🏼
@@rikkinetic yep doing it since 6months, I think I reached the level now hehe
Monkey bars appreciation club ✋🏼🤚🏼😎🐒💪🏼
@@rikkinetic Finally made it to the club, thnx mate :3 🙃
Ha ha keep on swinging 🦍
Do do do the funky gibbon
Ha ha 🐒😁
They are the kings of the swingers
So whatever upper body strength I have is probably from playing obsessively swinging the monkey bars when I was younger😅Yes!!!
Yes quite possibly 😁💪🏼🐒
great video i love brachiating
Thank you 🙏🏼
Me too 💪🏼🥷🏻🦍
So I've a question -- One of my arms tends to want to pull out when I hang by it. I'm practicing just hanging and giving some rotator cuff exercises a try, but I'm curious if there's anything else you did/recommend?
Yes I think what you doing is a good start and may well help the situation in time!
It really depends what the cause is. The only other thing I’d recommend without getting an assessment would be to roll/massage and to stretch the surrounding areas to see if there are any particularly tight muscles 😊
Hey man I got the strength to do many laps on the monkey bars but everytime I get to like 10 sets in my hands get huge blisters, like it literally rips off deep cut skin a big portion close to my calluses. I’ve tried gloves but it still gives the same blisters, is there a special technique to avoid getting those deep cut blisters from friction?
Impressive stuff 💪🏼
There’s not a lot you could do to avoid it!
I would ask how often do you do it? If you do it once every couple of weeks the hands are maybe softening up before each session. If you do it several times a week maybe they’re not getting enough time to recover ✋🏼🤚🏼
I’d also look at time of the day. The bars I use are metal and become more sticky when the sun has been on them so that’s when my hands are more likely to blister.
It also depends on the bars. Painted bars seems to be stickier too
@@rikkinetic I was doing them once every week but the cuts were so deep so couldn’t grip stuff in the gym until healed, yeah first time getting them was on painted bars, 2nd time was on non painted, my question is do you like take lotion on your hands often? Like do you have dry hands quite often or are they moisturized? Cuz I think my hands were maybe too dry when it happened
I don’t moisturise my hands no.
When I was training for the world’s longest monkey bars I was doing 2-3 monkey bar workouts every week and just had to manage my hands over that time!
I’d essentially file the dry skin away so that probably helped from a ripping point of view!
As soon as I’d felt my hands beginning to blister I’d stop so they’d be ready again for my next workout
Which place is this?
If you mean the location that you see if the thumbnail then that’s Poole park in Dorset, South UK
The majority of my videos are shot in the Poole/Bournemouth area 😎🐒
Mostly grip taxing for me
Yeah I think that’s the hardest part in many ways! Keep practising and that will improve 😃💪🏼🐒
Me trying scratch my opposite ears😂😂 after seeing this.
Ha ha did you manage it?😃🐒
No, no, no. Grip strength is predictive and correlated, NOT causative! People who do the things that improve grip strength are the same people who are generally more active. And vice versa. If you did grip strength training in isolation, you'd surely see no cardio health benefit, but nobody's going to run that study.
@@CSNCSNCSN no no no I agree
Did you see my latest video where I say exactly that?
