A lot of confusion in the comments. This is what I believe he is saying. 1) optimize listings 2) increases promoted by 1% or start at 2%. 3) change your prices in bulk editor to 21% lower. (Customer won't see that you've changed them but you are now effectively 21% off) 4) send 21% off coupon that can be used in your store. Every day a different coupon. (If customers use the coupon it's basically 42% off original price) 5) send 21% off offer to watchers that cannot be combined with coupons. (Two choices now, both are 42% lower than original price) 6) run a 21% markdown sale (I believe buyers can stack markdowns and coupons effectively giving them 63% off original price) 7)change markdown to 40% off. (You are now at 83% off original price ~ if buyers are also using the coupon. No profit at this point I'm guessing.) Spread this process out over 1 week. This is a fire sale. This is not how you to Run your business, this is how to Clear old stale items.

Markdown sale 10% off. It automatically lowers the price of your item which means that it shows in the marketplace as $9 and then it really gets boosted up. Its almost as if it was markdown you yourself changed the price of the item.
I hope this works, my sales have been almost non existent this month. Hope I can get some sales this weekend with the 21% off and then even more Tuesday and Wednesday with the 40% off
@@KellyBruwer yes, it did. Sold 1 thing from just sending an offer, 3 from counter offers from offers I sent, 3 from the sale & coupon, 2 from best offers on the sale price, and 1 new listing at full price. Also had 3 auctions end and pay for during that time as well
@@KellyBruwer currently I have 281 items, I had around that same number when I started it. I think with 2,000 items you should get about 100 sales if you accept and send offers, and do the 21% sale & coupon, as well as the 40% sale. If you do all 7 days you will probably get more sales, probably even 150 to 200 as I only did the sales and coupon parts.

I am running this and am going to do “Order discount 21%” for days 3-7 (Thurs-Mon) Then add markdown sale of 21% for days 4-5 (Fri/Sat) and 40% markdown sale for days 6-7 (Sun/Mon) That should stack (and of course the daily coupon, too.)

No.. the idea is to sell the items for what you can get so that u can get the capital to reinvest into good items with a high STR so that u can continue to sell in a 90 day or less with 10 or 20 dollars proffit
I think the point was to clear out old stuff that just won’t sell, especially if you’re running out of space. Then you will hopefully get your original money back and have space to put better items in future.
Just be prepared for a "cooldown" period after all the discounts and such when store reverts back to normal. If you're attracting bottom of barrel customers, expect them to move on when you're prices are normal. Sometimes the algo could attract better customers and pay at full price during the aftermath. Just a thought.

I do a similar process but I end listings on certain items that I don't want to steeply discount (example Gold and sterling items). I relist them after the sale ends. It can be scary to do an all in sale.
We're currently more a seller of brand new repeatable niche products which are "list and keep running" but at tight margins. I can see this working if you just want to liquidate for whatever you can and get out, but it would wreck future cash flow to sell for half (or less) of cost prices, less eBay fees as well. What would need to be changed to make it work for tighter-margin items without wrecking the future cashflow ? Or is this strictly for clearance items and business close-downs ?
Your items are brand new. I understood this is for items that are sitting and not selling, especially if they were bad buys. He said it's about discounting the garbage.
This isn’t good for low margin items. No reason to sell for cost or for a loss. His average sale price is much more than his cost price so he can afford a 20% discount and still make a profit
I like you sell new items. I raise my prices before I do a sale like Chris is talking about. That way even $3 profit is better than zero. I also don’t do my entire store. I currently have 20% off certain items and another 20% for older items with 5% promotional. I just want the stuff sold or it will be donated in March which will then be considered a business loss at tax time. I hope this helps you with new merchandise. My sales have also been non existent this past week and everyday I’m listing and pricing is in the middle of other sellers. I never go low or high but I always choose the middle. I had great sales until this past week and see some others are complaining as well. I’m hoping this sale works but it’s day 2 and 1 sale a day. Good luck.

So I’m supposed to keep the original 21% discount, then cancel the 21% markdown then add a new 40% markdown.? That is combined with the original 21% discount for a total of 61% off.?? Any clarification would be much appreciated!
I don’t have a store. Any suggestions on how to increase sales without having a store? Currently, I am able to list over 250 items because of a promotion I was given by eBay long ago. Any ideas will be most appreciated. I sell for the need of small (but helpful) supplemental income. Thank you in advance.

What I do when I’m in a pickle I put all of my expensive items on auction cause I only pay like 5 to 10 dollar on average on my expensive items on a 3 day auction lol
because resellers already put time into listings the items. Better to try this than to invest more time and money and go to the flea market. Flea market is not free either.
I honestly would never try Flea markets. Ever. Not sure about where you're at but most flea markets around where I'm at peddle nothing but junk. Plus I could never sell what I have at a flea market. I'd go broke from hauling it back and forth from storage to the market.

it doesn't stack, if you lower your price down 21% and then use a 21% coupon, you are not 42% off, you are 38% off

What’s the difference b/w a markdown & discount sale?
For example:

So if I have a $100 item does Day 3 mean I reduce my price by 20% by bulk editing and then do a 20% reduction.

When you list +10 items a day, does the markdown affect these?

How do you offer a coupon code? I need to get rid of some things. I also have 50 baseball cards i got for a 1 dollar
You can create a coupon code in the Marketing tab and then create a promotion where the coupon can be generated.

Why not just sell your items at a flea market, don’t have to package and ship and give all your profits to eBay
