My toyos piss me off bad with how bad they are wearing. And I look over the other side of the driveway and see my wife's 4 runner with falkens that have 10k more miles and they look brand new. Won't buy the toyos again
Given you have like 4" less pavement contact with the 35/11.50 vs 35/12.50 does that help on mpg? I'm just thinking of bycicles that benefit greatly from a thinner tire. I have MT baja boss m/t 315/79/17 and the traction off road is magnificent but I'm not doing much off road or as much as I'd like to I'm planning on falken Wildpeak at4 35 11.50 17 that will last much longer. Race vehicles are not running stock suspensions and stock steering components or stock gearing. Tire advantage off road comes from height and a longer foot print. Width will give some extra traction but no where near as much as height
He is assuming everyone offroad the same…… it’s simple…… more rubber on the ground equals more traction……. Period…….I go to Moab and sand hollow rock crawling and the wider the tire at a low psi the better……. Period…… you don’t see any 10” tires….. width matters…. only advantage a skinnier tire has is in snow and mud and it isn’t much of an advantage…… a true mud or snow tire will be 10” or less……. If Width didn’t matter everybody would save the weight add run a 9.5” tire……it absolutely makes a difference…….. buy a tire for how YOU ride…….. he is correct you might need new wheels……. Just keep the old ones and slap them back on when you sell it.
