You do an awesome job of both tying and describing your tying steps. Love that thread tip! Also love how you tied in those legs; new technique I just learned! The one item that I would add/modify to this is to counter wrap the heel with fine wire to give it some strength and durability, as herl is so brittle. Thanks again!
Thanks for your suggestion! This is a terrestrial/dry fly so we're typically flopping it down on the surface of the water, close to the bank, and dead-drifting it. It can also help to add a twitch or two during your drift to create some commotion on the surface of the water.
I know it's an older video but do you ever fish a submerged trailer with this, like a nymph or something hanging under? Or does it sink this fly and thus defeat the purpose?
Why does it keep happening to me that the thread I use Extreme Standard 8/0 6/0 when tying the music constantly breaks, some say it's up to the bomb, others say it's up to the end, can you help me with that?
I have no where to buy this black foam for fly tying. What can I use instead? I like the simplicity of this foam beetle, it is perfect for begginers and I think it will catch huge chubs!
