I'm glad I'm not the only one late to the dance, apparently this videos like 12 years old. I have recently been tying Japanese beetles with foam, peacock hearl and pheasant tail for legs! Thanks for the added tips davie❤
One brilliant way of using up some over sized JC nails. Love the fact that the deer underfur doesn't have to be removed. I'll be tying some of these up! Never really been happy with the way that some foam backed beetles tend to lie sideways on the surface, (i test them all first), maybe down to me using too light a hook though. The B160 seems a better option! Best wishes, Alan.
Looks perfect for what am looking for.. was up ladies loch earlier n trout were hammering small beetles ..didn't matter what I threw at them they were specifically targeting beetles ..so gonny try this pattern later..
During spring and summer we target yellowfish in crystal clear water on beetles. Once the wind blows them into the lake you will not get a take unless you have a beetle pattern (mostly foam beetles). I'm going to add this to my arsenal and hopefully I can entice a couple of fish with this!
Yeah, have be careful when buying JC. Some countries forbid it, some require certification of a captive breed. Personally, I've settled for synthetic and it works just fine for the fish.
Hi Davie Great looking beetle .. I heard you say you first tied a fly like this over on this side of the pond. Is there a chance you will be coming across it again?? Thanks for the Great Videos Chance
Hi Davie, I am stunned if I'm honest, the idea of jungle cock was brilliant, excellent video and I will definitely be trying to tie a couple of them! Best regards, Kyle.
@DavieMcPhail Hi Davie I would really like to know. If I know early enough I would like to go and watch and maybe get to visit with you a bit.. All the Best Chance
Davie, that's a great looking fly. I have sent you a video response with my attempt at a cicada; this fly has a problem in that it spins like a helicopter rotor when you cast it so your leader gets twisted up very quickly. May I ask you to put grey matter to work and post a suitable cicada tying?
Why would 13 people dislike this video? Davie I love your videos, you're a real artist.
Best coch imitation I've seen to date, must get my cape full of these split ones and tie some of these up ready for June
Ur flies are superb ma man lots off information as well as great patterns

Hi Davie,
Do you know of any Jungle coq suppliers in the US? I'v really had trouble finding the stuff.
Hope you can help. Thanks, Tom
hey davie, I was wondering what size hook you recommend for this pattern; I just got a jungle cape I want to dig into.
Be well,
scott
watching your video a second time answered my question; a 14. I'll be trying this pattern tonight
