Did not expect such a jolly upbeat tune to find in Doom megawad. It sounds like something straight out of an arcade shoot 'em up. Then again, maybe I have been playing too many slaughter-wads. I am pleasantly surprised, not just by this song, but the rest of the soundtrack.
I love Eviternity so much tbh. Y'all really knocked it out of the park for this it's become my favorite Doom WAD and I put it right up there with the original Doom. I haven't finished it yet but so far Regicide and Creation have been my favorite maps. That being said that's like saying which is my favorite drop in a glass of water because they're all fantastic.
This is exactly the song I was looking for when I searched for "Eviternity Soundtrack". Can you recommend songs that sound like this? What inspired you to make it? I was really hoping this was a cover to some godly band I'd never heard of before. It's phenomenal.
Hi Jonathan, glad you like the track :) If you're curious, there is no small amount of inspiration from the Of Mice & Men track "Vertigo", which you can check out on UA-cam. The meter and tonality are just about the same, although there's much more going on in my track from the keyboard side (I don't think the band has a keyboard player), so it has a bit more of my own flair. :P There's probably a fair bit of prog metal inspiration in general from bands like Dream Theater and Haken in my catalogue as a whole, both of these bands having heavy keyboard sections and solos.
Just wondering, in the video this says "written for the Doom levelset 'Eviternity' ", but on the Doomworld link (www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/eviternity), it doesn't list this piece as "bespoke for Eviternity". Did you create this before Eviternity started development?
It wasn't originally written for Eviternity, but it was completed during the project's development. Dragonfly selected it for the project a short time after I shared it, and given that I had no other home planned for it, I basically now list it as an Eviternity track.
@@JamesPaddockMusic Gotcha. I guess the same applies to other "non-bespoke" tracks of yours that appear in this level set, but not in other level sets? Thanks for the response.
@@devilpistons1269 Yeah, stuff like the last few tracks in Episode 1 of Eviternity, "Fluid Motion", "Ancient Sovereigns" and "Sacred Light" did not appear in anything else beforehand, as I finished writing them during the project's development. Although, "Sacred Light" was used as a basis for the title screen theme that I *did* write specifically for it.
@@JamesPaddockMusic I appreciate the response. It helps me out a bunch to know, roughly, the dates of creation of these pieces when submitting them to r/newgamemusic and there's no better source than the creator himself. Thanks
@@JamesPaddockMusic thats strange the music fits so well with the levels Well i dont know if that shows a good composer or a good level designer but i guess its both
Got so hyped when i started a level and it started with this victorious track. Well done!
Congratulations on the cacoward! Tracks like this make it well-earned!

Alright is it a coincidence that I hear sewer surfin' in the track or was that intended?
Not enough orchestra hits
this track... and especially last minute or so has to be the happiest MIDI i've ever heard
