1. Dungeon Keeper 2 2. Warcraft 3 TFT 3. Dwarf Fortress 4. Baldur's Gate 3 5. Fallout: New Vegas Great list, Grubby. The thousands of hours I must have spent playing WC3 custom games and random team matches in high school... It will always have a special place in my memory. Before that, Dungeon Keeper 2 was my introduction to the RTS genre. I fell in love with the dark humor, music, and playing as the villain. I still go back to it from time to time.
1. Mass Effect Trilogy - I genuinely think you would love this series. The pause/play gameplay is kind of the inversion of WC3, FPS with a little strategy mixed in. 2. Path of Exile 3. WC3 - Specifically the custom maps, I didn't really play the multiplayer. 4. Control - Insanely beautiful game 5. Dawn of War II - Specifically the campaign, again I think you would adore this. The hero/RPG elements blended so well with the RTS gameplay.
Perfect ending of a video :D 1 - StarCraft - Brood War (basically found all my friends through it when I was moved to a different school, defined my life for so many years) 2 - StarCraft 2 - Same reason but later, started taking it seriously ended up being Top 8 nationally, but dropped it after HotS cos life happened, but to this day I still watch a ton of YT videos, mainly WinterStarcraft and LowKo 3 - Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - Cannot count the hours me and my brothers put into this game, staying up late at night doing hot seat games 4 - World of WarCraft - Just the best MMORPG in the market basically, so many combinations and playstyles, classes. The amount of content is just mindblowing and the difficulty is so high that I can rarely finish the highest content in the seasons 5 - Borderlands 2 - I'd say if you ever want to try out a chill FPS that doesn't need to be taken seriously, BL2 is the game. Incredebly funny yet lot of builds exist and the Diablo-like loot system + extra difficulty you can add really makes it shine. Also who doesn't want to hear their character laugh when they just blow up an enemy :D
@@AA-rg6xy Heroes 3 tournaments mostly take place with HotA (fan made, very high quality) expansion. Scene is very active. Check out Lexiav - his channel is a good source of info about H3 competetive scene.
Solid list - Warcraft 3 forever! 💯💯 I was glad to see Heroes of the Storm make the list too. I was surprised by how good HotS was when I first played it. Great points on how Warcraft 3 is less cheesy. My top 5 games: 5. Doom (1&2) 4. Quake (1&2) 3. Diablo 2 2. StarCraft 1. Warcraft 3
In no particular order: - Super Mario Odyssey. Perfect relax game which I play through yearly. - Europa Universalis 4. Instead of the RP experience being centered around i fantastical creature/hero, you get to RP as a nation. - Victoria 3. Same as the one above. - World of Warcraft: Vanilla/Classic. Fantastic times with one's friends. - Brood War. Barely play it, but watch it religiously (thank you Nick and Dan) - Diablo 2. Childhood defining game. - Dota 2. Fantastic game. Looking forward to every TI. - Pokemon blue. Got a little emotional when I came to think of it, especially the soundtrack. - Mafia 1. Played it soo much in 2002 or so when it released. One of the best games ever. Special mentions: - WC2 and Dune 2000. My earliest RTS experiences. - Fifa 98 - WC3. Tower defence on LAN was some of the most fun things you could do. - Battlefield 1942/Vietnam. - CoD2
Dude your brood war story is exactly how my brothers and I used to play too. I had 2 brothers, I was always the Protoss player, one loved Terran and the other loved Zerg. We were all so bad at the game but boy was it fun trying to go though the campaign. It’s hard to remember memories as iconic as these growing up!
It's so hard to pinpoint 5 games only, but I think this is my list. 1. Age of empire 2 DE 2. Age of Mythlogy (the original one, and the voobly custom patch is surprisingly good too). 3. The soulsborne series (especially Dark souls 3 & Bloodborne, Elden ring was a banger too tbh, Sekiro best gameplay). 4. Baldur's gate 3 5. Dwarf fortress (I sunk so many hours in this so quickly lol). Honorable mentions: Dark age of Camelot, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, the X-Wing series from lucasart & XWA, SCBW, Faster than light, Lies of P (I'm not done yet with that one, but it's a great game), portal 1 & 2, dishonored 1 & 2, L4D & L4D 2, frostpunk, Hades, Darkest Dungeon, Tunic, Hollow Knight.
AoE2 and Mythology were great games! FTL is amazing. I don't understand why they did not make a sequel. I would be like printing money. Ah man, I forgot About MoHAA, but the garand sound lives in my head to this day rent free. My dad also liked that game, even though I could rarely get him to play any games, he finished that one. I wish I tried to get him play more while I could.
MOHAA! I remember playing the demo or beta or something where it was the same map over and over where you fight down the main street of a town and then hook a right as allies to blow up Flak guns in front of a church with a field around it. I loooved that game.
@@dankduelzperuvian well i've been playing dota 2 for almost 12 years so yeah i'm not quite sure what you mean but pretty sure i've dabbled with dota 2 😅
@@biohazarcl Dota 2 ceased to exist with the release of patch 6.78 (that's almost 11 years ago), 6.84 = Dota 4, 7.00 = Dota 5, 7.07 = Dota 6, etc. The game stopped being a DotA game with the release of Dota 4
1 - Doom 2 - The first game is massively influential in defining the first person shooter before FPS was a colloquial term. D2 fleshes out the gameplay with excellent additions to the beastiary (Mancubi/Revenant etc.) along with the iconic Super Shotgun. Active modding scene keeping the game very much kicking to this day. 2 - Starcraft: Brood War - Rushed home to log onto battlenet and play custom games day after day with friends from school. Likely a routine many Starcraft owners shared. 3 - Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast - Addicting Star Wars game on the Id Tech 3 engine. Dueling and lightsaber combat peaked imo with Outcast/Academy. 4 - Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne - Ahhh the days of finding Grubby vods on wc3replays and stealing strategies to badly imitate on the ladder. C tier Orc player, S++++ Uther party player. (
Witcher 3 is overrated change my mind. The existence of witcher items ruined the game for me. Because you get to level 16 or whatever, you get your witcher set... and that is the equipment you'll have FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. No other equiment matters, so all quests from that point feel inconsequential.
Mass effect legendary edition was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. I was gutted when I finished the game. Luckily I hadn't watched the expanse yet, and that sorted out the emptiness I had after completing mass effect. I am guessing BG3 has the same impact, I still need to play it.
When I was 10, home computers and Windows 95 became a thing. There was a magazine called "Computer Gaming World". There was often a CD with a bunch of little demo versions of upcoming games. There was a game called "Z" on one of them. That was the first RTS I ever played. At 10 years old, I thought it was the coolest game ever. When SC1 came out, I fell in love. Shortly after BW came out, I got a 28K modem for and an e-Machines PC with a Celeron processor for Christmas. BW was the greatest game ever... in extra high latency and all. My list: 1) StarCraft: Brood War 2) StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void 3) StarCraft 4) StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty 5 ) StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm 6) Final Fantasy 7 7) Super Mario RPG 8) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 9) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 10) Tekken Tag Tournament
1. Path of Exile. I literally have been playing this game every league for 10 years or so. 2. Starcraft. First RTS, still have great memories on it. 3. Rocket League. Amazing game, and the way the skill ceiling evolves is insane and beautiful. 4. Warcraft 3, great memories 5. Soulcalibur 6. FF VII 7. Crash team racing haha. Loved that game 8. Tomb raider 9. Some abandonware like Super Off Road, Another world etc and I'll stop there :)
I started poe when affliction came out. It was amazing. I had one month of work during christmas and i racked up 430 hours played in one month. I forgot to take scheduled medicine, i forgot to eat and ofc i forgot time. What an amazing game.
Honestly gameplay wise I never got into the RTS genre but I have such fond memories watching my older brother play Blizzard games that they're in some sort of top 10 for me. I watched him play the entirety of Starcraft, Brood War, SC2, and Warcraft 3. WC3 was especially interesting for me because it felt the most unique; I used to play Command and Conquer and had a lot of fun with it, but WC3 has the hero units, neutral creeps, items, and more factions than most RTS games that made it stand out the most to me as a kid. Maybe someday I'll try learning how to play an RTS competitively, but whether or not I do WC3 will always have a place in my heart as a timeless classic.
My Top 5: 1. Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne - Best RTS Game (and sandbox game) 2. Minecraft - Best Building Game 3. Team Fortress 2 - Best FPS Game 4. Plazma Burst 2 - Best 2D Flash Game 5. Killing Floor 2 - Best Zombie Wave Based Game
Neverwinter Nights gave incredible things to the people. With the expansions sets and the mods it became one of the ultimate "simple but good" games. I also consider it a rather smart game. 💜
my favourites: SP: single player MP: multi player 1. Rayman 3 [SP - 3D platformer, amazing music and game design just oozes variety-gimmicks and fun easygoing bosses - short fast playthrough] 2. Team Fortress 2 [MP - arena shooter] 3. Super Metroid [ SP - I dont have to tell you this genre it is it's own] 4. Underrail [SP - CRPG] 5. C&C Tiberium Wars [SP] / Kane's Wrath [MP]
@@KeMeEscupaUnPollo and Rayman 3 is just showing why video games are art. And how creative they can be in a variety of ways beyond their main genre. You can race your own shoes in a battle of autoscooter in this game. Especially the land of the livid dead I personally think is the best designed level. That freaking magic tower. The breathtaking harmonic music.
Great list Grubby! I absolutely second your take on AoW:planetfall, such a deep, strategic and tactical game that probably only suffers from a lack of popularity, just because it doesn't feature the classic fantasy setting of the original series. As for the Heroes of M&M series, yeah, I'm one of those guys claiming that 5 is the best, even though I consider part 3 to be a close second. I recently picked up Warcraft3 again and having a lot of fun with it, although my personal top 5 would be *1. Hearts of Iron 4 *2. Civilization 6 *3. Hearthstone (mostly Battlegrounds) *4. Nova Drift 5. Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
Top nostalgia picks that I can't rate objectively today because they were such formative parts of my childhood/adolescence #1 Warlords: Battlecry #2 Dungeon Keeper #3 Dragon Quest Monsters 2 #4 Warcraft 3 #5 Digimon World 5 favorite games of my adult life #1 Subnautica #2 The Long Dark #3 Kenshi #4 Vermintide #5 Undertale Honorable mentions Dawngate, the actual best MOBA and one of the best games of all time, RIP, I cannot express how much my heart is still broken. Would be top pick if it still existed. Against the Storm, feels too recent to really call it one of my favorite games of all time but definitely my most recent favorite. Soulsborne series, because I can't narrow it down to one.
1. Leauge of legends 2. Warcraft III frozen throne 3. Warlords III (darlords rising) 4. Baldurs gate III 5. Age of emipres II 6. Dungeon siege 2 7. Heroes of might and magic 4 8. Hearthstone Battlegrounds. 9. Civ 6 10. Hearthstone arena
i knew you from dota and you got me hooked on warcraft, much love Grubster, you made me grub 1) Dota 2 2) Elden Ring 3) Darksiders 2 4) Far Cry 3 5) Assasin's creed Black Flag Honorary mentions are valorant and the batman games
1 - Halo 3 2 - Stronghold Crusader 3 - Battlefield Bad Company 2 4 - Command and Conquer 1 (actually played that only on the PS1 lol) 5 - Overwatch 1 Honorable mentions: WC3, BFME1, Dota
Bad Company 2 was peak Battlefield. I wish the same team (or at least the same quality of people) made the recent BF games. The latest one makes me puke. BF V only became a somewhat decent 1.0 by the time they stopped developing it. smh
love the "Populous II Disk Whisperer" story; I feel like I did something similar on one of my games to make it work through some combination of digital AND physical manipulation, can't remember which one though
First of all, thank you for all these years of great moments! So, the list: 1. Magic: The Gathering 2. Warcraft III Frozen Throne 3. Dota 2 (I don't play anymore, same motive) 4. Guild Wars 2 (BEST community ever of everything by muuuuch far, you should really try) 5. Tibia (I don't play anymore, same of Dota 2 plus the decisions made by Cipsoft) 6. Chess There is no other games that make me feel like these ones.
@@GrubbyTalks Do you have any experience with mtg? Even in school? If not, I strongly recommend based on your tastes and points of view. It's the best and most complex/complete game ever. I mean the paper mtg. If you looking for games to stream, nowdays theres a lot of ways to stream paper mtg. And there is non official plataforms like Untap where you still can play ""like"" paper without any restriction or addicional costs. MTG Arena is a great way to start, but is not the same game for many factors. The principal to me, is the game is totaly automatic, so you don't need to keep checking your triggers, and this is not the real game, the program doing everything for you. The most fun thing in mtg is exactaly express your creativity despite all the restrictions of the rules, game state, momentum and others players creativity, and this is truly possible only when you became to understand the subtlety of the game - and there's a lot for good eyes like yours. Ps.: MTG is a path without return. Be careful. xD Ps²: Almost forgot, but, I doubt you don't have good friends that play paper mtg, call they and enjoy some great time just for fun. Who knows? Maybe you will find a lucky surprise.
GREAT LIST! Had some good overlap with your gaming experiences. You definitely need to add Darkest Dungeon to your list of games to play in the future. And if you’ve never played Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the original, you definitely should take a look as well. And Freelancer which is a a gem, not often enough spoken about. All great story telling games. And a new game I loved, Rebels Inc. Escalation, is also definitely worth a look. Big fan. Keep up the entertainment work. You’re a cool guy. Truly. P.S. Have you ever played Dungeon Keeper? The original and second game? As far as strategy goes, it was such a unique experience back in the day. Age of Mythology?
Freelancer! Such a gem. Microsoft developed or publishes not many games but those rare games are such gems! Dunno if it changes anything but ye can always vote on the requested freelancer GOG port.
Loved it! Top 5 games is hard, but without putting too much thought into it, here goes, in no particular order: Tibia, Heroes of the Storm, Faeria, Dota Underlords
Thanks for the excellent overview! My top 5: 1 - Deus Ex 2 - Freespace 2 3 - Radiant Silvergun 4 - Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (especially the FAF multiplayer) 5 - Quakeworld
In no particular order: Warcraft 3 Silent hill 2 (I hate horror games, but this one is too good) Dune 2/2000 (probably could name most of early WestWood games tbh) XCOM/UFO Civilization 2/3/4/5/6 Red Dead Redemption 2 Path of Exile
Dune 2 was amazing. I begged my parents to buy me a PC because of that game. I used to have a Commodore 64 up until that point. Man, we were poor, but I got some dinky used PC and an OLD monochrome monitor that was only able to display different shades of green and whatever and looked more akin to a giant nuclear toaster than a monitor. But was I happy? Yes sir! Xcom was also amazing. It just had a really shitty progression system and you quickly maxed out everything and life became kinda boring, but as a kid I loved it. I probably spent a good chunk on my youth on Civ 1 2 3 4. Sadly, 5 and 6 were crap "Civ Light for Idiots". But now that I think about it, maybe it would be a good gateway drug for young my kids.
1# World of Warcraft - Before this WcIII was on number one. I was super caught in the lore at this time i couldnt believ my eyes making my first steps in Azeroth. Later i got into progress raiding which was the second enlightment and the third was mythic+. In Addition the pet system in WoW was the better Pokemon in my Opinion which was also a lot of fun. There is just so much to do in this game its crazy. #2 Warcraft III tft - I play ladder from time to time but what really caught me is the campaign and of course the custom scene. At the moment this is the only game iam still playing. Sometimes i scroll through the custom lobbys and cant believe that i still find new and exiting mods i havent played yet. Btw you mentioned unit voicelines, i remembering times when you click one or two times more than necessary on a unit , hearing a line you never heard before ... its just a small detail that shows the love and dedication went into this game #3 Halo 1 - first shooter and first non-handheld game i ever played. Fantastic story and also a super cool custom mod scene and the first time i played online against other real people.I remembering snkeaking to my neighbour to play this over and over because i was like 11 or 12 back than ^^ #4 Pokemon Heart Gold - after playing the earlier Pokemons on Gameboy Calour this blew me away. I spent so much time in this game to fill the Pokedex. I had no Internet back than and therefore the secrets in this game were really secrets. #5 Diablo III RoS -its the same story evrytime a season starts, level up kill bad demons repeat. Sounds fucking boring but it is so fucking enjoyable to slice throught endless amounts of monsters over and over. Havent found any other Hack and Slay that transports this felling , including Diablo 4.
Hey Grubby, I totally agree with the W3 choice. I grew up playing W3 on LAN parties with my cousins, playing DOTA1 in W3 as well as making my own maps, learning how to script the AI/maps. All of this inside one game. This said, i'm sad i do not see World of Warcraft in the list. World of Warcraft was such a huge game when it came out and I just love the W3 lore in it, the locations, heroes, interaction, cooperation when raiding or doing dungeons together. It might not be the same experience as it was the days it came out, but you can still try it. Blizz made WOW "Classic" expansions for people to experience WOW for the first time. You can play either the total "Classic" WOW first expansion, or there is currently a Wrath of the Lich King Expansion which is more close to the W3 Frozen Throne story. As a massive W3 fan and enjoyer, I really suggest you to try it out if you havent already. I know it is an MMORPG (different style) but can be played however you want (solo experiencing)
Awesome that you have HoMaM3 on your top 10 list, a bit sad it's so low on the ranking though. ;) My top 5 Games: 1. Warcraft 3 2. Sekiro 3. Red Dead Redemption 2 4. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 5. World of Warcraft Edit: One game that i'd love for you to try is 'Battle Realms' if you haven't already. One of the great RTS games I played growing up. Love your content Grubby!
Awesome that our tastes are really close. My top 5, off the top of my head, would be: 1. Age of Empires 2 2. X-COM: UFO Defense 3. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 4. Kingdom Hearts 2 5. Mega-Bomberman (Sega) Honorable Mentions: LOTR: Shadow of War, Neverwinter Nights 2, Twisted Metal 2, Starcraft: Brood War, X-COM 2, Diablo 2, Age of Empires 4, Shining Force. Heroes of the Storm was by far my favorite MOBA. Loved playing TLV.
I loved this. Guessing the game from the first seconds of the music :D Here are some of my games which are closed in my hearts: Starcraft 1-2 - amazing time in computer clubs playing 8 team melee big game hunters Warcraft 3 - Learned English from it + best story ever + I just loved everything about it Diablo 1-2 - Started hard because "just one unit" after starcraft, but got instantly hooked Heasthstone + BG (now only BG) - another one to get the wife into gaming, BG + podcasts or listening YT vids + eating Heroes of the storm - best game with wife Lotr Battle for middle earth 2 - another best with wife Command and Conquers - can't decide which, RA2, Generals, Tib sun or Tib wars Homm3 - the one and only (the rest are just good games), the icon of Turned base strategy, like starcraft 1 for rts CounterStrike 1.6 - probably the best fps ever created Carmageddon - the best car game for computer clubs Quake 2-3 - computer clubs Unreal Tournament - computer clubs DOTA 1 - Grubby you probably would have loved this 100x more than dota 2 (which just sucks, it destroyed too many lives) Skyrim - the best with kid, chasing butterflies Dragon Age - one of the best RPGs ever created Titan Quest - the best Diablo 2 copy ever created Neverwinter Nights - the first really cools DnD like rpg, the predecessor of Dragon Age The Sims 1 - the joy of getting the big house after the grind of making friends Worms Armageddon - the pinnacle of fun with friends Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - played a lot with my brother And last but not least for today: Delta Force 1 - the first game I ever played on computer, when I won a 1 hour playtime in a computer club, in a TV show game
1. Warcraft 3 2. Titanfall 2 3. Skyrim 4. Rome: Total War 5. Age of Mythology 6. Call of Duty Black Ops 2 7. Zoo Tycoon 2 8. Dungeon Seige 9. Fable The Lost Chapters 10. Doom Eternal Honorable mentions: Elden Ring, Age of Empires 4, Starcraft 1, Destiny 1, Minecraft, portal 2, half-life 2 Good list grubby, thanks for the video
@@TanToRza i grew up on it and loved playing it with my dad. 2 didnt feel the same. I liked the locations and characters less and you couldnt have as many in your party for the beatdown so it wasnt as fun.
I find lists can vary wildly if you go "best" or "favorite" or "most played" or "most childhood bias"... so to avoid a generic list full of Worlds of Warcrafts, Frozen Thrones, Leagues of Legends, Battlefields, and such, here is instead a list of my most UNIQUE and/or criminally UNDERRATED games ever: - Sacrifice (2000) - Dungeon Keeper 2 (1999) - Silver (1999) - Ground Control (2000) (or a spiritual successor like World in Conflict or Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak) - Ultimate General: Civil War (2017) - Northgard (2018) - Anno 1404 Venice as a cutthroat PvP multiplayer game instead of a chill, casual city builder (2010) - Cossacks 2 (2005) - Helldivers (2015) - Highfleet (2021)
That's a good angle at it! I double the Northgard take (and the recent Dune Spice Wars too), and from myself I wanna add: - Super Monday Night Combat - the perfect hybrid between moba and shooter that we all deserved - Battlerite - the perfect controls and feeling for a top-down arena-like game, way more enjoyable than mobas to me. High skill, high pace combat and nothing else - Battleborn - the actual good hero shooter with actual hero customization and meta game, and (shocker) a functional coop PVE campaign... which died only because it launched too close to Overwatch and could not compete with Blizzard's marketing and, ahem, power of fanservice
@@eldrevo I am actually surprised at myself by how disinterested I was about Dune SW considering how much I loved Nortghard though to be fair, didn´t give it much of a chance. Agree on Battlerite, could have easily been on my list. The best bits of mobas without the worse bits of mobas, all condensed in a quick and intense, and still deep and strategic game. Somehow I played a lot of it but didn´t have much of a lasting appeal. Haven´t played the other two.
1. Heroes 3- all versions including the new mods 2. Dota- the original scenario in warcraft 3 and Dota 2 3. Warcraft 3- playing the campaing as well as multiplayer and mostly all the custom maps 4. Star Wars KOTOR 5. Arcanum 6. Fallout- the whole serries 7. Diablo 2 8. Baldur's Gate - the whole serries 1,2,3 9. Neverwinter nights - 1,2 10. Mortal combat 2 Honorable mentions- Battle realms (2001) and my first RTS- Dune 2 (1992)
In no particular order(too hard): The Witcher 3 Diablo (1995) Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Alex the kid in miracle world Warcraft 3 Total war warhammer 2 Final Fantasy 8 Tekken 3 Pokemon Silver Gold Crystal Chronotrigger
1. Dota 2 = Elden Ring. Despite the fact that I have been playing Dota then Dota 2 for over 16 years, Elden Ring is truly out of this world. My heart would say Dota 2, but my mind would bend towards ER. Really can't make a decision on the 1st place. 2. Baldur's gate 3 3. Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne 4. Sekiro 5. Bloodborne 6. Total war: Three kingdoms 7. Dark souls 3 8. God of War 9. Total war: Warhammer 2 10. Pokemon Fire Red Honorable mention to Der Langrisser, Fire Emblem Franchise and Pokemon Franchise :D. Anyway great list Grubby, many of games on your list are also my favorite as they are my childhood. And you are too. Keep it up champ!
1. World of Warcraft 2. Football Manager (Championship manager) series (starting with CM 93/94). 3. Quake 1-2, Doom 1-2 4. Warcraft 3 / Starcraft 2 5. Goldeneye
I used to win small time Quake 1 championships as a kid. I had a heavily modded Quake installation with bots. My cousin was 7 years older and they named and textured the bots after their teachers in high school and they would print some custom message if you killed them or if they killed you. It was awesome. Almost 30 years later, lol, I could probably still play the campaign with eyes closed.
wow grubby Such an intricate, complex and knowledgable thinking about games, made me think before posting my games here today, thank you for that, especially starting with warcraft3 and having wonderful memories of making custom maps with my dad, trying to see who can make a more difficult battle for the other. 1) Warcraft 3 2) Left4Dead 3) DOS2 4) Sekiro 5) LoL
This one is tough... I don't think anything except Dota 1x6 are really massive jumps in my enjoyment of the game. My biggest metric is replayability value. 1. Dota 1x6 (Dota arcade mode) 2. Fallout: New Vegas (with modding) 3. Darkest Dungeon (soon to be modded after I beat the game on hardest difficulty) 4. FTL (with modding) 5. Baldur's Gate 3 (when I get back into it, probably going to mod it too) You can probably tell I really enjoy modded games and just user content in general xD I may soon get into Darkest Dungeon mods also such as Black Reliquary but I just want to complete the vanilla game on hardest difficulty first. I can't really put BG3 here with the most confidence since I am waiting for an enhanced edition to get back into playing it as I have only gone through Act 1 and most of Act 2 and have yet to touch Act 3 but I know its got that same Fallout: New Vegas vibe. BG3 also is going to soon have a map editor, more modding support so the well of enjoyment to get out of that game is endless. Maybe if Hearthstone did not try to suck the player of all their time or force them to use microtransactions to play the game I would put it at 5 which may make it the only non-moddable game on here. Or maybe The Binding of Isaac which also has modding support.
Nice list, tbh after recently quitting Dota 2 I did not expect to see it on your list, but I guess that just proves your own greatness. As for me, top 5 would be: 5. Stronghold 2 4. Knights of Honor 3. Castle Strike (highly recommend to try the game if you still haven't had the chance, it was the RTS that more-so introduced me into the world of video games) 2. Dota 2 1. World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King
Hey Grubby, a game I’d really love to see you play is an old ps2 game that’s since been re-released on steam called ‘Army Men RTS’. This was the first game my parents ever bought for me and to say I played it religiously would be an understatement. Given your experience with strategy games, I’d really love to hear your thoughts on a game that essentially defined my childhood!
You forgot to mention Age of Wonders play by e-mail. My friends and I love Age of Wonders 3 the most, but with our busy lives it's often difficult to find time to sit down and play something together. With PBEM we've had campaigns lasting months where we each take 1 turn per day against the computers on randomly generated maps and have had a blast.
Very RTS and high fantasy heavy! Mine is: 1. SC2 2. Metal gear solid 2 3. Hollow Knight 4. WC3 5. Half Life 6. Final Fantasy X 7. DOOM Eternal 8. Silent Hill 3 9. Nier Automata 10. Last of Us 1 Would also put Devil may cry and bioshock as honorable mention
Well, Im glad you noticed Bullfrog’s masterpiece… Im now 37 so I never played Populous 2… but Populous 3: the beginning - is 1 of my most favorite games of all time… the idea of terraforming + 3D “planet” map… was so unique and awesome… I miss that no one held the banner after in those ideas😢
Thnx for sharing! love the stories, especially the one about HotS :D My top games are: 1- HotS 2- DoS2 3- Warcraft 3 4- Age of Wonders 3 5- Legacy of Cain: Blood Omen 2
Ok let's do a top ten! In no particular order: - Starcraft 2 - Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne - Dofus (because nostalgia mainly) - World of Warcraft - Final Fantasy XIV - Age of Empires 2 - Endless Legend - Baldur's Gate 2 - Total War: Warhammer series - Diablo 2 P.S.: Grubby have you ever tried Endless Legend? I think you might like it if you like Planetfall. It's a 4x set in a "fantasy" (but really sci-fi) world with great artstyle and music and very asymmetrycal factions that are full of lore and character. It's a bit simpler than the Age of Wonders games, but surprisingly deep once you learn it.
Enjoyed listening to a RTS veteran's favorites, and you made me interested in AoW Planetfall and I'm gonna try that one for sure. 10. Geoguessr 9. VtM Bloodlines (with the unofficial patch) 8. Super Meat Boy 7. Deus Ex (with gmdx) 6. Elden Ring 5. Football Manager 4. Planescape: Torment 3. Team Fortress 2 2. Slay the spire 1. chess
I would love the SC2 breakdown. I still enjoy co-op on it now and again, but I've never been able to enjoy standard multiplayer in it. Also I enjoyed the mechanics they did across the various campaigns, but the story never wowed me like SC1(+BW) and WC3(+FT).
Ranking games is a bit silly for me but I guess if I have to I might put these 5 as my top favorites: Faeria - Turn Based Strategy (great blend of gaming genres) Monster Sanctuary - RPG (lots of choices for party members) MagiCat - Platforming (lots of combat, lots of optional challenges) Saga Frontier - RPG (a good sci-fi game that has several single player campaigns, I recommend the Remastered version) Heroes of the Storm - Multiplayer (memories of characters mixed with quick and fun gameplay) After that it gets harder to add games but I definitely enjoyed a lot: Lightning Returns:FF13 - RPG (if you enjoyed Starcraft's music you might also enjoy this game's music, and the earlier FF13 games also had great music!) Super Mario Maker 2 - Platforming/Creative (the main reason I bought a Nintendo Switch) LeveLHead - Platforming/Creative (a sci-fi version of SMM2, they also do much different from eachother for creative options) Cosmic Star Heroine - RPG (a good sci-fi game that is very unique for turn based combat) Bravely Default 2 - RPG (a fantastic blend of Final Fantasy story tropes and a great set of side quests with many build options, it's like a greatest hits of older FF games) Honestly there are other really good games that arguably deserve to be in top 10, such as: Warcraft 3:TFT / Starcraft:BW - Campaign / Multiplayer (for obvious reasons) Triangle Strategy - Turn Based Strategy (for having a better story than any other RPG I've ever played) Final Fantasy VIII - RPG (for just being great to explore) Threads of Fate / Dewprism (same game) - ARPG (for being years ahead of its time) I wouldn't add Dota 2 or League of Legends because the matchmaking system has always felt corrupted to me. I could replace them with Hearthstone or Shadowverse but let's be honest I don't like those games that much. Instead I'll put in a game for top 15th that I only played for less than 5 hours( I don't want to get addicted to another card game). Creatures of Aether - Cards (it does what FFVIII did for a card game, but much better)
1. quake 2. halo 3. Unreal Tournament 99 4. Brood War 5. Morrowind 6. Ninja Gaiden Black 7. Advance Wars 8. Counter Strike 1.6 9. Link to the Past 10. Final Fantasy 1
"It was on this day Grubby revealed the Ten Command Games" I just came here just to make this joke which came to mind 3 days after watching this video :) Thx for sharing your passion and gaming/life joy with us Grubby! Highly appreciated.
5: Gnomoria (similar to Populous that you don't control the characters directly) 4: The Binding of Isaac + DLC (fav roguelite, haven't tried StS yet :D) 3: OpenTTD (haven't tried Factorio yet :D) 2: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind 1: Golden Sun 1&2 (Was originally supposed to be 1 game, but the GBA cartridge didn't have enough capacity. Would love if there was a fantasy book series released with this game's story)
That's an interesting list. I like the same genre games, but Gnomoria confuses me a bit as #5, because it was abandonned by its developer and does not feel finished. I would put Rimworld as my #1, which is the same genre, but you feel a lot more effort and love from the dev, although in general I also prefer a fantasy setting over sci fi. Still, I would even rate Dwarf Fortress higher than Gnomoria. The other ones are really good games, no doubt about it.
@@Jashinthegiant DF just didn't hook me like that yet, once I'd learn the game, I'm sure it would be amazing. I started playing Gnomoria when it was still being actively developed and I loved it as an unfinished game already. Probably helped that I was following some Let's Players (Danger and Aavak) thanks to whom I didn't have to put any effort into learning the game. Luckily I never had any horror stories with savegames or bugs.
Nice list Grubby! Motivated me to check out AoW: Planetfall, I enjoyed AoW2 back in the day. Also, crazy story about the floppy, I thought only old consoles worked like that 😅 Love all types of games, but RPGs mostly: 1. Persona 4. 2. Final Fantasy VII. 3. Catherine. [Look it up, it is its own type of game!] 4. Starcraft: Brood War 5. Super Mario 64 6. Assassin's Creed 2 7. Ghost Trick [A DS game. One of the best told stories, if anyone liked Phoenix Wright look it up.] 8. Chrono Trigger 9. Warcraft 3: TFT 10. No One Lives Forever
Ah man. Totally forgot about No One Lives Forever. NOLF 2 was also amazing. We played the shit out of those games. In LAN as well. My father loved them too. I wish they made a proper sequel!
I'm not really a competetive player so I don't know if these games would be for you but maybe you could find them fun aswell. Anyway my favorites are: 1. Hades - A roguelite with fun Gameplay, nice Story, amazing music, cool characters and so so much to do. It is challenging, but dying never feels bad, because you progress the story that way. 2. Hollowknight - A metroidvenia with very fun platforming, a bunch to explore, creativ and challenging bossfights and a grand world to get lost in. 3. Stardew Valley - A chill farming game, where you have a lot of options to play and the and the ability to explore and optimise a bunch. It also has some fighting and interacting with npcs and it ist very nice to play with friends aswell. 4. Starcraft II - I always loved RTS games but I was never big on playing with strangers online. Starcraft II has a nice campaign and it has a bunch of achivements to hunt and a lot of creative modders that give it replayabillity, plus I love playing coop with friends. 5. The Witcher 3 - An amazing RPG with a big story and an even bigger world to explore. You can make a lot of choices that matter and that are not always easy to make. There are a bunch of interesting characters to meet and interact with and a lot of interesting fights and quests.
now my list :) 1) Dota 2 2) Diablo 2 3) Warcraft 3 (could include the 2 in the list) 4) Hearthstone Battlegrounds 5) Total Anhilation Kingdom 6) Slay the spire 7) Total war Warhammer 2 8) Left for dead 2 9) Borderlands 2 10) Alien versus Predator 2 So many forgotten: Hell Let Loose, Battlefield bad company 2, Baldur's gate 3, Divinity Original sin 2, etc
Mostly ordered by number of hours played: 1) Dota 2 2) Halo 2 3) Heroes of Newerth 4) Diablo 2: LoD 5) Warcraft 3: TFT Some other honorable mentions: Elden Ring, Halo 3, World of Warcraft: BC (when it originally released in Jan 2007), Counter Strike (played all significant versions since 1.6), civ 5, morrowind, skyrim, and some others I'm probably forgetting
@@spyfire242 my favorite thing in BC was 5v5 arena. I was very annoyed how 5s wasn't taken seriously at least on my server and the first two seasons of arena we went ~90-5 and then couldn't find matches anymore (we would sit in queue for hours at peak hours with no match multiple days a week). 2s/3s felt like rock paper scissors once you got good enough. 5s has the most possibility of variation in strategy, requires the most coordination & teamplay. Someone invited me to closed beta of Hon and it scratched that same itch as arena (and did a better job of it) so I continued down the moba path. I only played Dota 1 a handful of times. It was definitely in my custom map rotation at one point but I think I played at most 100 games of it. I should've also included brood war in the honorable mentions.
I used to be a really high rating HoN player like 15 years ago, lol. Although I never took the game seriously. I really loved some of the character designs and skins. I wonder if my account still exists with the unlocks and stats and everything. It was a much better game than Dota 2 back then.
so glad you put HOMM3 on the list, didn't know you were a fan. Most of the games on the list I'm not familiar with , but the core ones I am, Broodwar and warcraft 3 are in my top 5 games, HOMM3, as well, SC2 I think I'm pissed about the same things as you are about it,was soooo excited when it came out, but it clearly suffered from blizzard greed and lack of care cancer
Starcraft: Brood War will forever be my favorite e-sport, I still watch Tasteless and Artosis cast ASL to this day and the game is still evolving and interesting and balanced. I think one thing that puts it above WC3 for me personally is I favor macro focus over micro focused gameplay in RTS. As amazing as WC3 is at a high level there isn't really any room for simply overwhelming your opponent with a better economy and units, you must have excellent unit control and mechanics like upkeep disincentivize large unit counts. I remember my favorite strategy in WC3 was to overwhelm my opponent as undead with meat wagons and necromancers but that only took me so far. In Brood War on the other hand I can focus almost entirely on macro and attack move my units at the enemy with only minimal micro involved.
Surprised to see Planetfall on the list! I recall playing it for a little but failing to find anything unique or cool that'd hook me. I might pay it a visit, along with AOW4, and I'd love to see more 4X on the stream too ^^ As for my top 5, here goes, without any particular order: World of Warcraft (Vanilla to ~Legion). Huge impact on my life. Maybe not as huge as WC3 in your case, but still. I owe it a career in gamedev, a lot of great friends and life-changing relationships, even some personal growth. MMORPG is such a rich, diverse genre, with everything from sweaty pvp/raiding to just immersing in atmosphere and roleplaying. The more it hurts to see what it has become now, years after I've got enough and quit it for good. Heroes of Might & Magic 3. Eastern european here, do I need to say more? :D One of the first games I played as a kid, and the one that took a good hold of me to this day. Amazing music, art, design, replayability, everything. And yet another series butchered by greedy corpos who didn't know what to do with it. Unreal Tournament 2004. Aside from RPG and Strategy, I'm a big shooter fan, and UT2004 is a good old classic. Alongside with Quake, it was the OG series to sweat in and flex your skills of movement, shooting, map awareness and tactics. Or just have fun with vehicle combat on large maps filled with constant action. Very sad to see arena shooters waning down in presence of slower, more console oriented games or whatever people find in likes of Counter Strike. I miss the fast pace and adrenaline of Unreal. Titanfall 2. A sudden resurgence of fast-pace shooters in 2016 (along with brilliant DOOM), Titanfall 2 sneaked into my top 5 not only for amazing movement mechanics, sleek shooting, badass titans and interesting PvPvE game modes. But because it has one of the best single player campaigns I've ever seen. I don't want to spoil much, but the arcs of the main character and his robot buddy, genious level design and gameplay gimmicks, the sheer power fantasy of a Pilot with a Titan at their side does make this game outstanding to me. And at least it partially lives on in form of Apex Legends now. And finally, Guild Wars 2. Man, I could babble about this game for hours, but it's already past 1 AM so I'll have to be brief. It's everything I wished WOW had. Unbelievably deep combat system with crazy high skill ceiling. Even cooler character and build crafting system with strong and unique class fantasy. Good single player story with amazing cinematic moments. Interesting race design and worldbuilding. Hiddenly overpowered serverside with barely any downtime and no server ques for 10+ years. Grand world-versus-world battles where I could spend years kicking asses. sieging castles and robbing caravans. The most positive and friendly community I've seen. And of course, one-of-a-kind living world. No other game makes their open world content even close to GW2, between dynamic events, grandeous and epic world bosses, fun exploration that gets a metroidvania-like feeling sometimes, and best in the genre mount system. I recall your WOW journey and that it didn't quite work out, but I hope to see you trying GW2 one day. The freedom it gives you, the depth of its combat, and years of quality content that are all still viable definitely make it worth a look. P.S. Honorable mentions go to HotS, SC2, WC3 and all other Blizzard games of that era. I was a huge fan, but I can't get over the disappointment Blizzard has become. Another honorable mention goes to most Valve's shooters. Half-Life 1, 2, Alyx, Team Fortress 2, Portal 1, 2. Such a great bunch of games.
Great video! My top 10: 1. Red Dead Redemption II 2. NieR:Automata 3. Halo: Combat Evolved 4. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind 5. Fallout: New Vegas 6. Mass Effect 2 7. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 8. Dark Souls 9. Resident Evil 4 10. BioShock
1. Best game in the entire world is 100% Warcraft 3. Not just because I got it when i was only 5 years old and played the campaign 200 times in the span of a year. It is objectively the best game because whatever game ever existed outside of it can be found within its custom maps. You like playing WoW? There is a custom map. Like playing RPG games like Divinity Original Sin and Baldurs Gate? There is a custom map. Like playing among us? There is a custom map. Like playing survivor type games? There is a custom map. Literaly everything is there. Not even gonna mention the custom campaigns specifically The Chosen Ones. To this day the best D&D experience I have ever played. WC3 is peak of gaming. Everything after that is just an extention. 2. I love Dragon Age Origin for its writing. The best writing in the genre by far even comapred to its sequels. 3. Bioshock trilogy is the best FPS by far thanks to its increadible story and plot twists which encompass every sigle game you have ever played as well as the real life. 4. I guess its time for some honorable mentions which include CS 1.6 and Dota 2 as well as the all time classics which took thousands of hours of my time like the Ensembles: Age of Mythology (yes, over the AoE ones); Sid Meiers Civilization too. Divinity Original Sin changed its genre for a time as well. And there is this one indie game called Pyre which is to this day the only game I gave 10/10 raiting.
1. Starcraft Brood War 2. Street Fighter 2 (+ all the variants) 3. The Legend of Zelda III: Link to the Past 4. Final Fantasy VI 5. Chrono Trigger 6. Secret of Mana 7. Star Craft 2 8. Final Fantasy VII 9. Final Fantasy V/Final Fantasy Tactics 10. Rimworld
1. Factorio 2. Ratropolis (a mix of Slay the Spire and Kingdom, but more fun in my opinion) 3. RimWorld 4. Hearthstone 5. CrossCode (among many indie adventures this one has exceptional quality and storyline) 6. Crimsonland 7. Morrowind 8. Silent Hill 2 9. Renowned Explorers: International Society (the only game I'm aware of where speaking friendly to the enemy and convincing them is a part battle mechanics) 10. Age of Wonders 1 (I like the first part the most, it does not have 4X strategy elements, but has the most focus on individual units in the series) Close to the top: Dungeon Keeper 2, Terraria, UFO: Enemy Unknown (original game from 1994), WarCraft 2 (I didn't learn how to play it properly, but still like it), Perimeter (quite obscure and unconventional RTS).
Dota 2 ofc is one Hades is very well polished - I didn't play it very long - but its great. Rollcage (old school racing game with weapons - was SO ahead of its time) Disney Hercules - great memories You should try Into the Breach - puzzle roguelike FTL - Faster than light is an awesome roguelike too which involves micro I'm 100% sure you don't read all comments - but nice video thanx for content
I had really fond memories of WC3 and Heroes of Might and Magic too with my brother. We had only one computer to share, and we were both young and stupid and without internet, so we ends up alternating between turns (for HMM) and between games versus AI (for WC3). And on TV we always have gaming channels replaying WC3 so despite not being able to plays as much, we kinda grew up with WC3. Though, if I had to choose one game for the nostalgia game pick, it'll had to be Counter Strike. Really wish I had chance to enjoy SC2... but when SC2:WoL was out, my PC is so bad that whenever I get to 150 pop or more the game framerate drops to single digits when Im lucky, worse case it could freeze for a whole minute..... single player is bearable, but there's no way I could do PVP. And so by the time I got a good PC, I already moved on from SC2...
Fantasy empires was such a awesome game! Used to coop in 4 people. Lord's of the Realm 2 was highly underrated. And old school Kings Quest games were awesome!
Top 5 most memorable games for me in no particular order are: Brute Force Total Annihilation: Kingdoms The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II Age of Wonders II Stronghold
@@GrubbyTalks Getting a physical copy of any lesser known games was hard. They'd either sell out and you didn't know it existed, stay on the shelf for a few visits and decide to give it a try, or the store would just have one copy being at the right place right time.
World in Conflict is a RTS/RT-Tactics Masterpiece that everybody should try, even though its about 15 years old now. It aged great and has one of the best campaigns and a great multiplayer (that sadly just works on low pop community servers now)
I have a really hard time creating a top 10 list and not a top 80 list or something, but if I had to, then my 10 favourite games: 1.) Fallout 2 2.) Warcraft III (Mainly the World Editor and custom games) 3.) Heroes of the Storm 4.) Quake 5.) Imperium Galactica II 6.) Mass Effect 7.) Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance Forever 8.) World of Warcraft 9.) Warcraft II 10.) Civilization IV (Modded) 10.) Starcraft: BW 10.) Diablo: Hellfire 10.) Heroes of Might and Magic III 10.) Dungeon Keeper 10.) Command & Conquer: Red Alert No matter how you look at it, this is a top 10 list! ...Yeah, I ended up cheating.
Interesting reasoning for the list. Here's my top 5 (it's a lot of roguelites lol) 1 - Crypt of the Necrodancer 2 - Hades 3 - Hotline Miami 2 4 - Downwell 5 - God of War
1 - Super Smash Bros 64 (any of them really) 2 - Heroes of the Storm (HOTS) 3 - World of Warcraft 4 - Team Fortress 2 5 - Heroes of Might and Magic 4 6 - Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour 7 - Need for Speed Underground 2 8 - Tony Hawk Pro Skater 9 - Pokemon Blue (gameboy color) 10 - P.N. 03 Honorable mentions: Halo, Super monkey ball, Pokemon Stadium, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, James Bond, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Elden Ring
1. World of Warcraft (Vanilla, TBC, WoTLK) 2. Dota 2 3. Team Fortress 2 4. Warcraft 3 5. Counter Strike / Brood War tied. They were my first online multiplayer games
1 - Age of Empires II - The game I played competitively, most hours in by far, forever my favorite 2 - Commander Keen 4 - My introduction to gaming, incredible amount of charm 3 - DotA - the peak of WC3 custom scenarios, which were all so addicting 4 - Tales of MajEyal - Insane depth, my fav rougelike 5 - Slay the Spire - best concise solo playthrough experience
Me and my friends used to play an RTS called Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Pretty deep game, you could check that out! I also like dota 2, although I'm noob 😂 Great video!
Will keep the list to strategies. 1. Heroes of M&M IV (all of it) 2. Dota (Warcraft 3 versions 6.x, Icefrog) 3. Red Alert 3 (& Uprising) 4. Heroes of M&M III (specially Chronicles) 5. Rise of Nations (original) 6. Red Alert 2 (Yuri exp., mods like Reborn) 7. Age of Empires 2 (Forgotten Empires fave and before, latest editions created too weird nation perks) 8. Age of Mythology (original) 9. Warcraft 3 TFT & ROC (Countless legendary custom maps, melee, never really liked the upkeep mechanic, but I respected the challenge it brought to the RTS genre ... is actually place 2 just for Dota but this is the only game I respect so much that it deserves an additional place on this list alongside one of it's maps) 10. Warlords Battlecry 1-3 (if you or anyone else loved the HoMM music and ambient overall, you should at least like this one as well) My first Blizz experience in strategies was Warcraft 3, so I could never find much love for the previous instalments and Starcraft as they felt like a downgrade. Honorable mentions - Anno 1602 (one of the most relaxing experiences) - Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom (short and fun, liked the ambient) - Dungeon Keeper 2 (fun, great thematic design, think it will remain an evergreen in that regard) - Army Men (great campaign and theme is on point) - Dark Planet: Battle for Natrolis (had some frame rate issues, other than that I loved it, 3 races fantasy RTS) - C&C Generals (regular and even more so Zero Hour) - Heroes of Newerth (if Icefrog didn't leave ... where would it be ...) - Dota 2 (probably something better than this :P) P.S. I love Valve games: Half Life series, CStrike, Team Fortress 1 and 2, Portal, L4Dead, numerous others, love Dota 2 as well, just feel like it could've been better with a bit of a different approach ... wish Gabe could learn how to count to three but that's a whole other story (edited: cos I forgot about Rise of Nations)
I want a 2 hour essay video on StarCraft 2
Yes!
I’m subbing just for that.
Would love that
Is 1 hour ok?
same
I wonder what #1 is going to be Clueless
Elden Ring ofcourse
Hello kitty island adventures
Cluegi
barbie and her friends: the crazy adventure of the puppies
It was Cluedo speedrun
1. Dungeon Keeper 2
2. Warcraft 3 TFT
3. Dwarf Fortress
4. Baldur's Gate 3
5. Fallout: New Vegas
Great list, Grubby.
I love Dungeon Keeper 2, wish it kept Dungeon Keeper 1's money system but the change in 2 was also good, just too slow for my taste
1. Mass Effect Trilogy - I genuinely think you would love this series. The pause/play gameplay is kind of the inversion of WC3, FPS with a little strategy mixed in.
2. Path of Exile
3. WC3 - Specifically the custom maps, I didn't really play the multiplayer.
4. Control - Insanely beautiful game
5. Dawn of War II - Specifically the campaign, again I think you would adore this. The hero/RPG elements blended so well with the RTS gameplay.
Perfect ending of a video :D
1 - StarCraft - Brood War (basically found all my friends through it when I was moved to a different school, defined my life for so many years)
2 - StarCraft 2 - Same reason but later, started taking it seriously ended up being Top 8 nationally, but dropped it after HotS cos life happened, but to this day I still watch a ton of YT videos, mainly WinterStarcraft and LowKo
3 - Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - Cannot count the hours me and my brothers put into this game, staying up late at night doing hot seat games
4 - World of WarCraft - Just the best MMORPG in the market basically, so many combinations and playstyles, classes. The amount of content is just mindblowing and the difficulty is so high that I can rarely finish the highest content in the seasons
5 - Borderlands 2 - I'd say if you ever want to try out a chill FPS that doesn't need to be taken seriously, BL2 is the game. Incredebly funny yet lot of builds exist and the Diablo-like loot system + extra difficulty you can add really makes it shine. Also who doesn't want to hear their character laugh when they just blow up an enemy :D

borderlands 2/3 were sweet. loved the world design
I still play Heroes3, it's unbelievable how alive this is stilll today, people building new map templates, tournaments happening, streamers online :)
I still play it, but where are these tournaments? :D
@@AA-rg6xy Heroes 3 tournaments mostly take place with HotA (fan made, very high quality) expansion. Scene is very active. Check out Lexiav - his channel is a good source of info about H3 competetive scene.
Solid list - Warcraft 3 forever! 💯💯
I was glad to see Heroes of the Storm make the list too. I was surprised by how good HotS was when I first played it.
Great points on how Warcraft 3 is less cheesy.
My top 5 games:
5. Doom (1&2)
4. Quake (1&2)
3. Diablo 2
2. StarCraft
1. Warcraft 3
In no particular order:
- Super Mario Odyssey.
Barely play it, but watch it religiously (thank you Nick and Dan)
- Diablo 2. Childhood defining game.
- Dota 2. Fantastic game. Looking forward to every TI.
- Pokemon blue. Got a little emotional when I came to think of it, especially the soundtrack.
- Mafia 1. Played it soo much in 2002 or so when it released. One of the best games ever.
Special mentions:
- WC2 and Dune 2000. My earliest RTS experiences.
- Fifa 98
- WC3. Tower defence on LAN was some of the most fun things you could do.
- Battlefield 1942/Vietnam.
- CoD2
Wow, amazing list. Kudos to you sir. I guess we're in the same age range. I'm born 1988.
Tower defense was the best
It's crazy how many people have dota as "that game I really want to play, but can't"
on the other side there are plenty of players who hate the game but can't not.
Smurfs😂
Dota 2 would probably be my favorite game ever if the community experience wasn't 90% toxic cancer.
dota 2 best game but bad matchmaking 😂😂
For me it's the game I can play but really don't want to.
Dude your brood war story is exactly how my brothers and I used to play too. I had 2 brothers, I was always the Protoss player, one loved Terran and the other loved Zerg. We were all so bad at the game but boy was it fun trying to go though the campaign. It’s hard to remember memories as iconic as these growing up!
lol too funny, me and my two brothers also selected one of each :D.
Awesome to hear, haha. Precious memories
My top 10 favorite games:
1. Warcraft 3 (Original and Frozen Throne)
2. Heroes of might and magic 3
3. Starcraft 1 (Original and Brood war)
4. Ultima 8: Pagan
5. Resident Evil 4
6. Doom 3
7. Syndicate Plus
8. Doom 2
9. Starcraft 2
10. Heretic
You mispelled Ultima 7: Black Gate but otherwise great list
It's so hard to pinpoint 5 games only, but I think this is my list.
1. Age of empire 2 DE
2. Age of Mythlogy (the original one, and the voobly custom patch is surprisingly good too).
3. The soulsborne series (especially Dark souls 3 & Bloodborne, Elden ring was a banger too tbh, Sekiro best gameplay).
4. Baldur's gate 3
5. Dwarf fortress (I sunk so many hours in this so quickly lol).
Honorable mentions: Dark age of Camelot, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, the X-Wing series from lucasart & XWA, SCBW, Faster than light, Lies of P (I'm not done yet with that one, but it's a great game), portal 1 & 2, dishonored 1 & 2, L4D & L4D 2, frostpunk, Hades, Darkest Dungeon, Tunic, Hollow Knight.
really awesome list, every one of these games is incredible
1- Dota 2
2- Diablo 2
3- Dark Souls
4- Chrono Trigger
5- Starcraft: Brood War
Honorable mention to Team Fortress 2
Love you Grubby
Bet you've never even played Dota 2 (the current game is Dota 11)

My top 5 games of all time is
1. Baldurs Gate 3
2. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
3. The Witcher 3
4. Total War Warhammer 3
5. Starcraft 2
You are a real one for WotR.
@@Lightn0x what ???
Mass effect legendary edition was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. I was gutted when I finished the game. Luckily I hadn't watched the expanse yet, and that sorted out the emptiness I had after completing mass effect.
I am guessing BG3 has the same impact, I still need to play it.
@@Lightn0x sounds like you played it trying to min/max like a WoW raid or something. Just enjoy the story and gameplay... worry about armor sets later
My list:
1) StarCraft: Brood War
2) StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void
3) StarCraft
4) StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty
5 ) StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm
6) Final Fantasy 7
7) Super Mario RPG
8) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
9) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
10) Tekken Tag Tournament
Ah man, I loved Super Mario RPG. I don't remember if I could ever beat the last boss or not.
The real feat was beating Jinx, then Culex.
Z was super nice
I'm not a Tekken fan, but it's nice seeing a fighting game there
Fun vid! Can't decide the order, so I'll just throw in my all-time favs:
- WoW Classic/TBC/Wotlk
- Starcraft Brood War
- Starcraft 2
- Dune: Spice Wars
- Diablo 2 LoD
- Warcraft 3 TFT
- HOMM 3-4-5
- Dota & Dota2
- Dune2000
- Emperor: Battle for Dune
- Wildstar
- Wolfenstein Enemy Territory
- Quake3: Arena
- The Stanley Parable
Finally, a couple low budget/roguelite/roguelike/DOS/browser favs: Vampire Survivors, Prosperous Universe, Papers Please, Chants of Sennaar, Urbo, Crimsonland, Dune2, Cryo's Dune, Lotus, Retal, Prehistorik2
Oh, Wildstar... Now it hurts again.
1. Path of Exile. I literally have been playing this game every league for 10 years or so.
2. Starcraft. First RTS, still have great memories on it.
3. Rocket League. Amazing game, and the way the skill ceiling evolves is insane and beautiful.
4. Warcraft 3, great memories
5. Soulcalibur
6. FF VII
7. Crash team racing haha. Loved that game
8. Tomb raider
9. Some abandonware like Super Off Road, Another world etc
and I'll stop there :)
I started poe when affliction came out. It was amazing. I had one month of work during christmas and i racked up 430 hours played in one month. I forgot to take scheduled medicine, i forgot to eat and ofc i forgot time. What an amazing game.
Nice selection Grubby, thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Nice video
Dota 2 fan myself
can you make a video talking about how would you improve dota 2?
My Top 5:
1. Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne - Best RTS Game (and sandbox game)
2. Minecraft - Best Building Game
3. Team Fortress 2 - Best FPS Game
4. Plazma Burst 2 - Best 2D Flash Game
5. Killing Floor 2 - Best Zombie Wave Based Game
Same
plazma burst was such a fucking banger
1. Newerwinter Nights
2. World of Warcraft (up to WoD)
3. Dune: Spice wars
Neverwinter Nights gave incredible things to the people. With the expansions sets and the mods it became one of the ultimate "simple but good" games. I also consider it a rather smart game. 💜
Final Fantasy Tactics, Warcraft 2, Civilization 1, Baldur’s Gate 1, Diablo 1
my favourites: SP: single player MP: multi player
1. Rayman 3 [SP - 3D platformer, amazing music and game design just oozes variety-gimmicks and fun easygoing bosses - short fast playthrough]
2. Team Fortress 2 [MP - arena shooter]
3. Super Metroid [ SP - I dont have to tell you this genre it is it's own]
4. Underrail [SP - CRPG]
5. C&C Tiberium Wars [SP] / Kane's Wrath [MP]
Super Metroid is a must for anyone.
"...if you are 5% better than your opponent..." shows game against ToD 😬😄 ❤
Top 5!
1. Final Fantasy 6
2. Final Fantasy Tactics
3. Diablo 2
4. StarCraft: Brood War
5. Icarus
Top nostalgia picks that I can't rate objectively today because they were such formative parts of my childhood/adolescence
#1 Warlords: Battlecry
#2 Dungeon Keeper
#3 Dragon Quest Monsters 2
#4 Warcraft 3
#5 Digimon World
5 favorite games of my adult life
#1 Subnautica
#2 The Long Dark
#3 Kenshi
#4 Vermintide
#5 Undertale
Honorable mentions
Dawngate, the actual best MOBA and one of the best games of all time, RIP, I cannot express how much my heart is still broken. Would be top pick if it still existed.
Against the Storm, feels too recent to really call it one of my favorite games of all time but definitely my most recent favorite.
Soulsborne series, because I can't narrow it down to one.
warlords battlecry 3 is amazing and I never see this series get mentioned anywhere so that made me happy
1. Leauge of legends
2. Warcraft III frozen throne
3. Warlords III (darlords rising)
4. Baldurs gate III
5. Age of emipres II
6. Dungeon siege 2
7. Heroes of might and magic 4
8. Hearthstone Battlegrounds.
9. Civ 6
10. Hearthstone arena
Amazing list
I was scrolling until Warlords 3 was on a someone's list
Warlords 3 DLR nice
i knew you from dota and you got me hooked on warcraft, much love Grubster, you made me grub
1) Dota 2
2) Elden Ring
3) Darksiders 2
4) Far Cry 3
5) Assasin's creed Black Flag
Honorary mentions are valorant and the batman games
1 - Halo 3
2 - Stronghold Crusader
3 - Battlefield Bad Company 2
4 - Command and Conquer 1 (actually played that only on the PS1 lol)
5 - Overwatch 1
Honorable mentions: WC3, BFME1, Dota
Too many people sleep on Stronghold, such a great franchise!
Get the C&C steam remake, it's a must. It even has the console missions
@@KeMeEscupaUnPollo I got it a while back but just started playing it, so fun so far :)
So, the list:
1. Magic: The Gathering
2. Warcraft III Frozen Throne
3. Dota 2 (I don't play anymore, same motive)
4. Guild Wars 2 (BEST community ever of everything by muuuuch far, you should really try)
5. Tibia (I don't play anymore, same of Dota 2 plus the decisions made by Cipsoft)
6. Chess
There is no other games that make me feel like these ones.
Ohhhhhh MTG. MTG:A as well or just the card game?
Be careful. xD
Ps²: Almost forgot, but, I doubt you don't have good friends that play paper mtg, call they and enjoy some great time just for fun.
It's only 4 games, bro. I feel cheated.
Thanks for the excellent overview! My top 5:
1 - Deus Ex
2 - Freespace 2
3 - Radiant Silvergun
4 - Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (especially the FAF multiplayer)
5 - Quakeworld
Team FAF represent!
@@txdmsk FAF is an absolute blast, and the devs keep improving it. Team games are especially fun!
In no particular order:
Warcraft 3
Silent hill 2 (I hate horror games, but this one is too good)
Dune 2/2000 (probably could name most of early WestWood games tbh)
XCOM/UFO
Civilization 2/3/4/5/6
Red Dead Redemption 2
Path of Exile
1# World of Warcraft
- Before this WcIII was on number one.
#2 Warcraft III tft
- I play ladder from time to time but what really caught me is the campaign and of course the custom scene. At the moment this is the only game iam still playing. Sometimes i scroll through the custom lobbys and cant believe that i still find new and exiting mods i havent played yet. Btw you mentioned unit voicelines, i remembering times when you click one or two times more than necessary on a unit , hearing a line you never heard before ... its just a small detail that shows the love and dedication went into this game
#3 Halo 1
- first shooter and first non-handheld game i ever played. Fantastic story and also a super cool custom mod scene and the first time i played online against other real people.I remembering snkeaking to my neighbour to play this over and over because i was like 11 or 12 back than ^^
#4 Pokemon Heart Gold
- after playing the earlier Pokemons on Gameboy Calour this blew me away. I spent so much time in this game to fill the Pokedex. I had no Internet back than and therefore the secrets in this game were really secrets.
#5 Diablo III RoS
-its the same story evrytime a season starts, level up kill bad demons repeat.
Awesome that you have HoMaM3 on your top 10 list, a bit sad it's so low on the ranking though. ;)
My top 5 Games:
1. Warcraft 3
2. Sekiro
3. Red Dead Redemption 2
4. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
5. World of Warcraft
Edit: One game that i'd love for you to try is 'Battle Realms' if you haven't already. One of the great RTS games I played growing up. Love your content Grubby!
Floppy Disk Handler😅
Awesome that our tastes are really close. My top 5, off the top of my head, would be:
1. Age of Empires 2
2. X-COM: UFO Defense
3. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
4. Kingdom Hearts 2
5. Mega-Bomberman (Sega)
Honorable Mentions: LOTR: Shadow of War, Neverwinter Nights 2, Twisted Metal 2, Starcraft: Brood War, X-COM 2, Diablo 2, Age of Empires 4, Shining Force.
Heroes of the Storm was by far my favorite MOBA. Loved playing TLV.
TLV is great fun, just either super underpowered or as a last pick super overpowered (depending on the map, in the metas I played in)
That ending was amazing 😂My top 5:
1. Warcraft 3
2. Slay the Spire
3. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
4. Total Annihilation
5. Diablo
I loved this. Guessing the game from the first seconds of the music :D
Here are some of my games which are closed in my hearts:
Starcraft 1-2 - amazing time in computer clubs playing 8 team melee big game hunters
Warcraft 3 - Learned English from it + best story ever + I just loved everything about it
Diablo 1-2 - Started hard because "just one unit" after starcraft, but got instantly hooked
Heasthstone + BG (now only BG) - another one to get the wife into gaming, BG + podcasts or listening YT vids + eating
Heroes of the storm - best game with wife
Lotr Battle for middle earth 2 - another best with wife
Command and Conquers - can't decide which, RA2, Generals, Tib sun or Tib wars
Homm3 - the one and only (the rest are just good games), the icon of Turned base strategy, like starcraft 1 for rts
CounterStrike 1.6 - probably the best fps ever created
Carmageddon - the best car game for computer clubs
Quake 2-3 - computer clubs
Unreal Tournament - computer clubs
DOTA 1 - Grubby you probably would have loved this 100x more than dota 2 (which just sucks, it destroyed too many lives)
Skyrim - the best with kid, chasing butterflies
Dragon Age - one of the best RPGs ever created
Titan Quest - the best Diablo 2 copy ever created
Neverwinter Nights - the first really cools DnD like rpg, the predecessor of Dragon Age
The Sims 1 - the joy of getting the big house after the grind of making friends
Worms Armageddon - the pinnacle of fun with friends
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit - played a lot with my brother
And last but not least for today: Delta Force 1 - the first game I ever played on computer, when I won a 1 hour playtime in a computer club, in a TV show game
1. Warcraft 3
2. Titanfall 2
3. Skyrim
4. Rome: Total War
5. Age of Mythology
6. Call of Duty Black Ops 2
7. Zoo Tycoon 2
8. Dungeon Seige
9. Fable The Lost Chapters
10. Doom Eternal
Honorable mentions: Elden Ring, Age of Empires 4, Starcraft 1, Destiny 1, Minecraft, portal 2, half-life 2
Good list grubby, thanks for the video
You preferred dungeon siege 1 over 2? That’s a rare opinion to have.
@@TanToRza i grew up on it and loved playing it with my dad. 2 didnt feel the same. I liked the locations and characters less and you couldnt have as many in your party for the beatdown so it wasnt as fun.
@@TanToRza
Dungeon Siege 1 was much better than 2. My cousins and I loved that game and pretty much grew up with it, lol
Zoo Tycoon 2
Dungeon Seige
Half Life 2
Nice ones yep I also preffered 2 over 1
I find lists can vary wildly if you go "best" or "favorite" or "most played" or "most childhood bias"... so to avoid a generic list full of Worlds of Warcrafts, Frozen Thrones, Leagues of Legends, Battlefields, and such, here is instead a list of my most UNIQUE and/or criminally UNDERRATED games ever:
- Sacrifice (2000)
- Dungeon Keeper 2 (1999)
- Silver (1999)
- Ground Control (2000) (or a spiritual successor like World in Conflict or Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak)
- Ultimate General: Civil War (2017)
- Northgard (2018)
- Anno 1404 Venice as a cutthroat PvP multiplayer game instead of a chill, casual city builder (2010)
- Cossacks 2 (2005)
- Helldivers (2015)
- Highfleet (2021)
That's a good angle at it!
I double the Northgard take (and the recent Dune Spice Wars too), and from myself I wanna add:
- Super Monday Night Combat - the perfect hybrid between moba and shooter that we all deserved
- Battlerite - the perfect controls and feeling for a top-down arena-like game, way more enjoyable than mobas to me. High skill, high pace combat and nothing else
- Battleborn - the actual good hero shooter with actual hero customization and meta game, and (shocker) a functional coop PVE campaign... which died only because it launched too close to Overwatch and could not compete with Blizzard's marketing and, ahem, power of fanservice
1. Heroes 3- all versions including the new mods
2. Dota- the original scenario in warcraft 3 and Dota 2
3. Warcraft 3- playing the campaing as well as multiplayer and mostly all the custom maps
4. Star Wars KOTOR
5. Arcanum
6. Fallout- the whole serries
7. Diablo 2
8. Baldur's Gate - the whole serries 1,2,3
9. Neverwinter nights - 1,2
10. Mortal combat 2
Honorable mentions-
Battle realms (2001)
and my first RTS- Dune 2 (1992)
In no particular order(too hard):
The Witcher 3
Diablo (1995)
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Alex the kid in miracle world
Warcraft 3
Total war warhammer 2
Final Fantasy 8
Tekken 3
Pokemon Silver Gold Crystal
Chronotrigger
I'm not a Tekken fan, but it's nice seeing a fighting game there
1. Dota 2 = Elden Ring. Despite the fact that I have been playing Dota then Dota 2 for over 16 years, Elden Ring is truly out of this world. My heart would say Dota 2, but my mind would bend towards ER. Really can't make a decision on the 1st place.
2. Baldur's gate 3
3. Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne
4. Sekiro
5. Bloodborne
6. Total war: Three kingdoms
7. Dark souls 3
8. God of War
9. Total war: Warhammer 2
10. Pokemon Fire Red
Honorable mention to Der Langrisser, Fire Emblem Franchise and Pokemon Franchise :D.
Anyway great list Grubby, many of games on your list are also my favorite as they are my childhood. And you are too. Keep it up champ!
1. World of Warcraft
2. Football Manager (Championship manager) series (starting with CM 93/94).
3. Quake 1-2, Doom 1-2
4. Warcraft 3 / Starcraft 2
StarCraft Broodwar
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Warcraft 3
Heroes of the Storm
Doom: 1993
Your stuff is always great Grubby. Keep it up.
wow grubby Such an intricate, complex and knowledgable thinking about games, made me think before posting my games here today, thank you for that, especially starting with warcraft3 and having wonderful memories of making custom maps with my dad, trying to see who can make a more difficult battle for the other.
1) Warcraft 3
2) Left4Dead
3) DOS2
4) Sekiro
5) LoL
This one is tough... I don't think anything except Dota 1x6 are really massive jumps in my enjoyment of the game. My biggest metric is replayability value.
1. Dota 1x6 (Dota arcade mode)
2. Fallout: New Vegas (with modding)
3. Darkest Dungeon (soon to be modded after I beat the game on hardest difficulty)
4. FTL (with modding)
5. Baldur's Gate 3 (when I get back into it, probably going to mod it too)
You can probably tell I really enjoy modded games and just user content in general xD I may soon get into Darkest Dungeon mods also such as Black Reliquary but I just want to complete the vanilla game on hardest difficulty first.
As for me, top 5 would be:
5. Stronghold 2
4. Knights of Honor
3. Castle Strike (highly recommend to try the game if you still haven't had the chance, it was the RTS that more-so introduced me into the world of video games)
2. Dota 2
Mine is:
1. SC2
2. Metal gear solid 2
3. Hollow Knight
4. WC3
5. Half Life
6. Final Fantasy X
7. DOOM Eternal
8. Silent Hill 3
9. Nier Automata
10. Last of Us 1
Would also put Devil may cry and bioshock as honorable mention
My preferences reveal themselvse! Heard good things about Nier Automata
Thnx for sharing! love the stories, especially the one about HotS :D
My top games are:
1- HotS
2- DoS2
3- Warcraft 3
4- Age of Wonders 3
5- Legacy of Cain: Blood Omen 2
Ok let's do a top ten!
In no particular order:
- Starcraft 2
- Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne
- Dofus (because nostalgia mainly)
- World of Warcraft
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Age of Empires 2
- Endless Legend
- Baldur's Gate 2
- Total War: Warhammer series
- Diablo 2
P.S.: Grubby have you ever tried Endless Legend? I think you might like it if you like Planetfall. It's a 4x set in a "fantasy" (but really sci-fi) world with great artstyle and music and very asymmetrycal factions that are full of lore and character. It's a bit simpler than the Age of Wonders games, but surprisingly deep once you learn it.
Enjoyed listening to a RTS veteran's favorites, and you made me interested in AoW Planetfall and I'm gonna try that one for sure.
10. Geoguessr
9. VtM Bloodlines (with the unofficial patch)
8. Super Meat Boy
7. Deus Ex (with gmdx)
6. Elden Ring
5. Football Manager
4. Planescape: Torment
3. Team Fortress 2
2. Slay the spire
1. chess
I would love the SC2 breakdown. I still enjoy co-op on it now and again, but I've never been able to enjoy standard multiplayer in it. Also I enjoyed the mechanics they did across the various campaigns, but the story never wowed me like SC1(+BW) and WC3(+FT).
Ranking games is a bit silly for me but I guess if I have to I might put these 5 as my top favorites:
Faeria - Turn Based Strategy (great blend of gaming genres)
Monster Sanctuary - RPG (lots of choices for party members)
MagiCat - Platforming (lots of combat, lots of optional challenges)
Saga Frontier - RPG (a good sci-fi game that has several single player campaigns, I recommend the Remastered version)
Heroes of the Storm - Multiplayer (memories of characters mixed with quick and fun gameplay)
After that it gets harder to add games but I definitely enjoyed a lot:
Lightning Returns:FF13 - RPG (if you enjoyed Starcraft's music you might also enjoy this game's music, and the earlier FF13 games also had great music!)
Super Mario Maker 2 - Platforming/Creative (the main reason I bought a Nintendo Switch)
LeveLHead - Platforming/Creative (a sci-fi version of SMM2, they also do much different from eachother for creative options)
Cosmic Star Heroine - RPG (a good sci-fi game that is very unique for turn based combat)
Bravely Default 2 - RPG (a fantastic blend of Final Fantasy story tropes and a great set of side quests with many build options, it's like a greatest hits of older FF games)
Honestly there are other really good games that arguably deserve to be in top 10, such as:
Warcraft 3:TFT / Starcraft:BW - Campaign / Multiplayer (for obvious reasons)
Triangle Strategy - Turn Based Strategy (for having a better story than any other RPG I've ever played)
Final Fantasy VIII - RPG (for just being great to explore)
Threads of Fate / Dewprism (same game) - ARPG (for being years ahead of its time)
I wouldn't add Dota 2 or League of Legends because the matchmaking system has always felt corrupted to me.
I think its bit sad Faeria never found a real sucess...imho its a better and more strategic game than Hearthstone
1. quake
2. halo

2. Super Smash Bros Melee
3. Halo 2

"It was on this day Grubby revealed the Ten Command Games"
I just came here just to make this joke which came to mind 3 days after watching this video :) Thx for sharing your passion and gaming/life joy with us Grubby! Highly appreciated.
1. Dota 2
2. Counter Strike
3. Witcher 3
4. Cities Skylines
5. Warcraft 3
Anno 1503, EE AoC, C&C Generals, Counterstrike 1.6, HoMM3, Monkey Island 1-3, WOW (TBC), Diablo 2 & Baldurs Gate 2
5: Gnomoria (similar to Populous that you don't control the characters directly)
4: The Binding of Isaac + DLC (fav roguelite, haven't tried StS yet :D)
3: OpenTTD (haven't tried Factorio yet :D)
2: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
1: Golden Sun 1&2 (Was originally supposed to be 1 game, but the GBA cartridge didn't have enough capacity.
Also, crazy story about the floppy, I thought only old consoles worked like that 😅
Love all types of games, but RPGs mostly:
1. Persona 4.
2. Final Fantasy VII.
3. Catherine. [Look it up, it is its own type of game!]
4. Starcraft: Brood War
5. Super Mario 64
6. Assassin's Creed 2
7. Ghost Trick [A DS game. One of the best told stories, if anyone liked Phoenix Wright look it up.]
8. Chrono Trigger
9. Warcraft 3: TFT
10. No One Lives Forever
Ah man. Totally forgot about No One Lives Forever.
NOLF 2 was also amazing.
We played the shit out of those games. In LAN as well.
My father loved them too.
I wish they made a proper sequel!
Viper should do the same thing ! Fun concept.
1. Heroes of the Storm
2. Team Fortress 2
3. Life is Strange
4. Cyberpunk 2077
5. Mass Effect Trilogy
great vid by the way Grubby.
I'm not really a competetive player so I don't know if these games would be for you but maybe you could find them fun aswell. Anyway my favorites are:
There are a bunch of interesting characters to meet and interact with and a lot of interesting fights and quests.
now my list :)
1) Dota 2
2) Diablo 2
3) Warcraft 3 (could include the 2 in the list)
4) Hearthstone Battlegrounds
5) Total Anhilation Kingdom
6) Slay the spire
7) Total war Warhammer 2
8) Left for dead 2
9) Borderlands 2
10) Alien versus Predator 2
So many forgotten: Hell Let Loose, Battlefield bad company 2, Baldur's gate 3, Divinity Original sin 2, etc
Mostly ordered by number of hours played:
1) Dota 2
2) Halo 2
3) Heroes of Newerth
4) Diablo 2: LoD
5) Warcraft 3: TFT
Some other honorable mentions: Elden Ring, Halo 3, World of Warcraft: BC (when it originally released in Jan 2007), Counter Strike (played all significant versions since 1.6), civ 5, morrowind, skyrim, and some others I'm probably forgetting
1) Dota 2 3) HoN (Dota) 5) Wc3:TFT (Dota) 😏
I might pay it a visit, along with AOW4, and I'd love to see more 4X on the stream too ^^
As for my top 5, here goes, without any particular order:
World of Warcraft (Vanilla to ~Legion).
And finally,
Guild Wars 2.
I heard you mention Rim World. Have you tried Dwarf Fortress? It's a 23 year old game that is still actively developed.
Not yet
Great video! My top 10:
1. Red Dead Redemption II
2. NieR:Automata
3. Halo: Combat Evolved
4. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
5. Fallout: New Vegas
6. Mass Effect 2
7. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
8. Dark Souls
9. Resident Evil 4
10. BioShock
Do you know if the steam version of MGS3 is any good? :)
@@rjculliford sure, it's decent! Has a few issues, but its worth it imo.
@@chazzilla8919 I'll try it, ty.
@@rjculliford hope you enjoy!
My top 5 ever:
1 - SC2
2 - Ark Survival Evolved
3 - Warcraft 3
4 - Skyrim
5 - GTA V
My intro to RTS was mega-lo-mania. Such a fun little game, still remember it fondly 25 years later. "The design is ready!" :D
1. Starcraft Brood War
2. Street Fighter 2 (+ all the variants)
3. The Legend of Zelda III: Link to the Past
4. Final Fantasy VI
5. Chrono Trigger
6. Secret of Mana
7. Star Craft 2
8. Final Fantasy VII
9. Final Fantasy V/Final Fantasy Tactics
10. Rimworld
1. Factorio
2. Ratropolis (a mix of Slay the Spire and Kingdom, but more fun in my opinion)
3. RimWorld
4. Hearthstone
5. CrossCode (among many indie adventures this one has exceptional quality and storyline)
6. Crimsonland
7. Morrowind
8. Silent Hill 2
9. Renowned Explorers: International Society (the only game I'm aware of where speaking friendly to the enemy and convincing them is a part battle mechanics)
10. Age of Wonders 1 (I like the first part the most, it does not have 4X strategy elements, but has the most focus on individual units in the series)
Close to the top: Dungeon Keeper 2, Terraria, UFO: Enemy Unknown (original game from 1994), WarCraft 2 (I didn't learn how to play it properly, but still like it), Perimeter (quite obscure and unconventional RTS).
Dota 2 ofc is one
Hades is very well polished - I didn't play it very long - but its great.
Rollcage (old school racing game with weapons - was SO ahead of its time)
Disney Hercules - great memories
You should try Into the Breach - puzzle roguelike
FTL - Faster than light is an awesome roguelike too which involves micro
I'm 100% sure you don't read all comments - but nice video thanx for content
Grubby: "Winning with cheese doesn't feel good."
Me: inhaling DT's on biscuits.
Would love to see you play Mindustry Grubby.
Top 5 games: Total Annihilation, Warcraft 3 TFT, Terraria, Valheim, Mario 64
Top 5 most memorable games for me in no particular order are:
Brute Force
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II
Age of Wonders II
Stronghold
My brother and I always wanted to play Stronghold. But for some reason we couldn't find the game!
@@GrubbyTalks Getting a physical copy of any lesser known games was hard. They'd either sell out and you didn't know it existed, stay on the shelf for a few visits and decide to give it a try, or the store would just have one copy being at the right place right time.
It was a special time when you’d log in and there was a new version of Defense of the Ancients out and you had to download it upon joining the game.
World in Conflict is a RTS/RT-Tactics Masterpiece that everybody should try, even though its about 15 years old now. It aged great and has one of the best campaigns and a great multiplayer (that sadly just works on low pop community servers now)
I have a really hard time creating a top 10 list and not a top 80 list or something, but if I had to, then my 10 favourite games:
1.) Fallout 2
2.) Warcraft III (Mainly the World Editor and custom games)
3.) Heroes of the Storm
4.) Quake
5.) Imperium Galactica II
6.) Mass Effect
7.) Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance Forever
8.) World of Warcraft
9.) Warcraft II
10.) Civilization IV (Modded)
10.) Starcraft: BW
10.) Diablo: Hellfire
10.) Heroes of Might and Magic III
10.) Dungeon Keeper
10.) Command & Conquer: Red Alert
No matter how you look at it, this is a top 10 list!
...Yeah, I ended up cheating.
Interesting reasoning for the list.
Here's my top 5 (it's a lot of roguelites lol)
1 - Crypt of the Necrodancer
2 - Hades
3 - Hotline Miami 2
4 - Downwell
5 - God of War
1 - Super Smash Bros 64 (any of them really)
2 - Heroes of the Storm (HOTS)
3 - World of Warcraft
4 - Team Fortress 2
5 - Heroes of Might and Magic 4
6 - Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour
7 - Need for Speed Underground 2
8 - Tony Hawk Pro Skater
9 - Pokemon Blue (gameboy color)
10 - P.N. 03
Honorable mentions: Halo, Super monkey ball, Pokemon Stadium, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, James Bond, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Elden Ring
1. World of Warcraft (Vanilla, TBC, WoTLK)
2. Dota 2
3. Team Fortress 2
4. Warcraft 3
5. Counter Strike / Brood War tied. They were my first online multiplayer games
1 - Age of Empires II - The game I played competitively, most hours in by far, forever my favorite
2 - Commander Keen 4 - My introduction to gaming, incredible amount of charm
3 - DotA - the peak of WC3 custom scenarios, which were all so addicting
4 - Tales of MajEyal - Insane depth, my fav rougelike
5 - Slay the Spire - best concise solo playthrough experience
Me and my friends used to play an RTS called Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Pretty deep game, you could check that out!
I also like dota 2, although I'm noob 😂 Great video!
Will keep the list to strategies.
1. Heroes of M&M IV (all of it)
2. Dota (Warcraft 3 versions 6.x, Icefrog)
3. Red Alert 3 (& Uprising)
4. Heroes of M&M III (specially Chronicles)
5. Rise of Nations (original)
6. Red Alert 2 (Yuri exp., mods like Reborn)
7. Age of Empires 2 (Forgotten Empires fave and before, latest editions created too weird nation perks)
8. Age of Mythology (original)
9. Warcraft 3 TFT & ROC (Countless legendary custom maps, melee, never really liked the upkeep mechanic, but I respected the challenge it brought to the RTS genre ... is actually place 2 just for Dota but this is the only game I respect so much that it deserves an additional place on this list alongside one of it's maps)
10. Warlords Battlecry 1-3 (if you or anyone else loved the HoMM music and ambient overall, you should at least like this one as well)
My first Blizz experience in strategies was Warcraft 3, so I could never find much love for the previous instalments and Starcraft as they felt like a downgrade.
Honorable mentions
- Anno 1602 (one of the most relaxing experiences)
- Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom (short and fun, liked the ambient)
- Dungeon Keeper 2 (fun, great thematic design, think it will remain an evergreen in that regard)
- Army Men (great campaign and theme is on point)
- Dark Planet: Battle for Natrolis (had some frame rate issues, other than that I loved it, 3 races fantasy RTS)
- C&C Generals (regular and even more so Zero Hour)
- Heroes of Newerth (if Icefrog didn't leave ... where would it be ...)
- Dota 2 (probably something better than this :P) P.S. I love Valve games: Half Life series, CStrike, Team Fortress 1 and 2, Portal, L4Dead, numerous others, love Dota 2 as well, just feel like it could've been better with a bit of a different approach ... wish Gabe could learn how to count to three but that's a whole other story
(edited: cos I forgot about Rise of Nations)
