I absolutely loved this film. It was exceptional. Really cute.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
It was a cute movie. Why do you say "I'm the Dead Girl"? I mean this with respect --I love you. Some times it helps to say that to a stranger.

im going to hell for what i think... but its cute yeah.
I relished Mary's girlfriend coming over to help her the most, with her east coast urban acting, showing friendship affection for a single girl becoming a single mother in a big city. The moment of womanly company without Jimmy of showing how to make it an alright time as working girls is what otherwise wouldn't be a seen scene after the Hays Code. After 1934, it's de-naturalized and the romantic love between men and women is tailored with aim to show only the social procurement of it, rather than all social life together and what's in between. I feel that part of the film solidifies "Strange Marriage"(1932) as anchored just a bit more of Mary 's survival and vivacity than the begotten sweet re-unioning.
"The house is on fire," and she runs into his arms. Very sweet romance. Excellent 1930's movie classic. Lovely evening gowns.
We need to keep these great classics alive.
So much gentle wit throughout this film which makes it so adorable.
"That's the trouble with these idealists. . They're always so magnificent. And just when you're getting used to their grand gestures, the y rush off to be magnificent somewhere else." That line was pure genius.
Yes that happens till they really fall in love.
That was a great line and unfortunately told to Mary as a con by Jack the rat. Well he finally got decked out.
@@septimuswarrensmith879I was so happy when Jimmy punched Jack.
@@AnnemieM oh my

I love the old Hollywood movies. They are pure gold. Great Movie.
I enjoy them as well.
I agree with you 100%!!!
I like this! Movies of this era were no less absurd, but they had a sweetness, and sophisticated culture we lack 90 years down the road. I hope YT allows these gems to stay up.
Aestro Ai The censors didn't allow those gems to stay up back then. :)
Now it’s all pre-emptive programming and fake lifestyles for people to emulate without thinking
THERE ARE SOME GENIUS LINES IN THIS MOVIE
I have seen this movie 4 times because it was cute and touching all at the same and I enjoyed the chemistry between Ms Knapp and Mr Byron it really seemed genuine(unlike today's movies) And that Marie nearly stole every scene she was in ,what a character!!! 👍👍 will probably watch a few more times👏👏
Marie Prevost as Nellie is absolutely adorable! Such an honest conversation between her and Mary! My favorite quote, when Nellie is trying to get Mary to accept money from her ex: "...Gee, when I think of all the things I've done for less than a thousand dollars, it kind of makes me sick!"😅
Shame she passed away due to Alcohol....still her name is a legacy to changes made in hollywood...
Thanks to Joan Crawford.....
She is wonderful. The 2nd half of the movie is very different from the first part. The character is so sweet and helpful.
WTH! I'm a 60 year old life long bachelor. So why did I just favorite this movie?
Because it's a good movie!?
Great movie. Great acting by all.
Love these old black and whites
"No woman is going to marry my baby's father" the line struck the heart
Not baby daddy ?? XD
The Butler Hodges Jimmy's BFF
I like how the taxi driver just takes that line in stride and gets her to the other car!
I could watch it another 40 times..brill
This movie is SLIGHTLY MARRIED , Evalyn Knapp is tantalizing
Thanks for uploading 🏆🏆
I thought that the title (and the story) implied that they never consummated their marriage, but it looks like they did.
This movie was adorable. Pure enjoyment. I love that movies from the 30s always seem much more real than those that came later.
that's the "pre-code" in pre-code hollywood!
Movies of the early 30s seem to take account of the economic hardship in the background, without sugarcoating it with happy endings (as you start to see post 1938, say).
So much more real. Right. That's why they had to be stopped. Today though the producers might get 20 years for circulating misinformation.
@@9erik1 you beat me to it 😂

See “be carefuls,” item 6.
It’s particularly ridiculous in its suggestion that only “morons” could take ideas/events from movies and apply them to real life.
Eclairs ( hee hee) she reminds me of Christina Aguilera . Everyone was so elegant the homes and decor. And the beautiful clothing.l love the code of polite manners, getting dressed up for parties , dinner, theater, times have changed so much. Thank you for showing these old movies.
Lori Bollinger Fictional rich people have always lived well, that's for sure. The real Depression-oppressed average people, not at all. They went to the movies to be shown a fantasy that even people today believe existed somewhere for someone.
I don't think you can expect much empathy for the wretched of the earth from someone with a name like that!@@653j521
My grandmother's name was Nellie Elizabeth. Im young but love these black and white movies . Miss you grandma and mom together again 🤗😇😇💌💌🌹🌹
Loved it! Very charming movie with good acting. Always enjoy see Evelyn Knapp, she is so petite and lovely. Thank you
One among Marie Prevost's late supporting roles. She had serious personal troubles at those times. Once an acclaimed glamorous star, during the Silent Era,(she worked with Mack Sennett, Cecil B. DeMille), then faded out because of the "talkies". Turned into an alcoholic and bulimic, since the mid 1930s began suffering of self-inducted malnutrition that drove her to death. She had been found dead in January 1937, alone, broke, in a dilapidated hotel apartment. She was 40 y. o. Such a too sad ending in spite Prevost's skills and talented art.
A great talenr, she would have gone on to steal many films and maybe scoop an Oscar if things hadn't gone so bad.Maybe she needed someone to love.
@@keithharvey7230DON'T we all? Or everyone except my father!!
😆you mean someone to be loved by. Under the circumstances described that is generally more useful!@@keithharvey7230
‘Have you ever been hungry?,

Nice.
Love this film , one of the great classics! Thanks for sharing with all the olds classics fans !
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with You!
I’ve seen this before, but it was worth seeing again! What a great script with one liners!
I just wish the women’s clothing was still like that
You can buy vintage clothing. I saw a young lady here in England last week in beautiful vintage clothing and told her that she looked so feminine. I could tell that I made her day. Lol
Genius writing in this film with a Great Cast to boot! Just loved Marie Provost (Nellie"s) character. Had to go back a couple of times just to listen to some of the liners!
That was really a little gem of a movie and VERY different for it's time. And it was so good to see Marie Prevost doing her thing like only she can do it! Hilarious. And Evelyn Knapp is excellent as always!
Pizza FLIX the best for old black and whites AND especially the film noir library. Thank you and I'll subscribe!
What a nice movie! Thank you so much
This black & white movie does Evelyn a grave injustice; I have a full color picture of her and she was gorgeous beyond words!
I really like this old movies.
Pre code are great.
the " hogging the whole window" line was sweet.
They really knew how to make movies for Depression audiences. Life was miserable but you could escape for a few hours in a movie theater. They're really helping me get through these similar times. Marie Provost stole this movie.
Hope you’re doing better friend.
Find solace in our Lord Jesus christ, His Spirit will comfort you well
And you would have seen 2 movies in that movie theatre too, with an intermission, plus a Tom & Jerry cartoon, or maybe even 2 cartoons, and some Metro News!
The movies back then was to forget the everyday life during the depression. To say there's too much violence and nudity. Back then they just implied sex which was better than today because they actually show nudity and sex scenes. Leave a Nothing to the imagination. Actually told the story not like today where half the seans make no sense. I love these old movies. So much more interesting.
"How much do I owe you. $42. What for? This gentleman here. That's no gentlemen that's just a hole in the floor." Crazy about these old movies. Thank you!
Such an engaging movie from 1932! Thanks!
LMBO 🤓 The Fuller Brush Man... I remember them coming to our town when I was a kid, & my Grams would let him in & demonstrate his products he carried with him around town in his big black bag. I enjoyed his visits every month...
Whoops! Fuller ""Brush"" Man... [correcting the spelling "Bush" to Brush" on original comment, lol].
Anywho - I found an article/interview with the last known "Fuller Brush Man" living near San Fran in Cali!!! BTW, it's 9 years old, so I'm not sure if he's still making the rounds anymore... It's kinda sweet & sad at the same time 🙄 but Enjoy All!!!

That was the funniest thing ever when she rolled up alongside his car and held the baby up for him to see. And what the hell took her so long to tell him?
And what about the fact his Parents said nothing; showed no emotion towards their Grand Baby & wouldn't even stop the car f/ him to Safely approach his Baby!
It was all so crazy. She rushes to tell him on his wedding day & she dresses up with hat and all the baby has is a diaper and blanket.
the plot. 😂 the way it piles in so many twists and obstacles and absurdities in a mere 60 mins is genius.
Watching this adorable actress, never heard of her I admit it! Too young! But I do see just how much one of my favorite fashion eras, the 1960's borrowed from this era and even more so from the 1920's- strange indeed! I just heard the lead male actor propose marriage to her! And only a few minutes in! Only in the movies! Imagine marrying a TOTAL STRANGER, I am not referring to arranged marriages- entirely different- was this a ruse to get him out of a tight spot- guess later on when I'm more awake! I better watch the whole film! She reminds me of Twiggy, in The Boyfriend, a great Ken Russell musical- Thanks for all the wonderful uploads. Namaste from Canada
The themes in this movie break just about every Hollywood decency code established after 1932.
Hays was a bully and the Catholic Church- glad they’re both over
@@Richie8a8y The Hays code was voluntary. The film industry was a mess and people did not know what they were going to see at the movies, they stopped going. The Code saved the industry. Hays was Presbyterian, not Catholic, the church had nothing to do with it except submit a list of guidelines they were asked for.
Well sais Sir.@@Richie8a8y
The industry does not appear to be a mess looking at the quality of these pre code films. I do not believe the Code was anything other than moralistic hypocritical censorship serving a political agenda against ordinary people getting wised up or encouraged to believe in the worth of their own experiences. Everything that followed was gaslighting and BS and above all boring, which is why the industry is gasping for breath now, having choked itself with idiotic stimulants since those days. @@saran3214
Thanks so much PizzaFix, fell in love with Dorothy Christie from Sons of the Desert
Love Evelyn Knapp. Great actress and delicate beauty.
OhMyGosh...Just what the "doctor ordered"...What an absolutely delightful movie...especially during this lonely & frightening time of being quarantined in our homes & all the worrying we're doing about the present AND future uncertainties as well as worrying about our health dangers...
PizzaFlix...Thanks so much for providing such an enjoyable film...I loved every minute... I am such a fan of your channel & always look forward to watching your movies... Be well... *: )*
What a jewel. They don't make movies anymore, just spectacles. It is a shame they didn't credit the assistant to the assistant dolly grip.
Absolutely. Everyone deserves a mention in this masterpiece.
Mary Provost was an excellent actress. Really sweet. Actually they all were great. Sweet movie.
WALTER BYRON REMINDS ME OF LOWELL SHERMAN.......HE'S ALSO ATTRACTIVE TO LOOK AT .....!!!!!!!!!! VERY GOOD FILM...........
Evelyn Knapp; a shame she cannot know in any 'conventional' sense how much I love her; her greatest crime being the small number of films she made. The characters in this one are all so distinct.
Not only do I love the movie for what it stands for
But the actors are so well chosen
Absolutely, spot on , x
some great acting, dialog and story. Thank you for posting
Great movie! While the plot is crazy, the human issues it discusses are taken straight from real life. It‘s like a time machine to the world of my parents and grandparents.
It was very hard to recognize the young Jason Robards in the character of Jack!
I'm pretty sure that is the father of Jason Robards, Jr. (Oscar winner, etc.)
@@lovemovies3993 I‘ll bet you‘re right about that. JR jr. would have been a mere boy.
Aww!! That was so cute! Everyone needs a friend like Nellie.
PizzaFlix . There wasn’t a minister on hand. The judge called his bluff , and married them. Thank you for sharing. I can’t get enough of this movie. Wish I could find movies like this on DVD, or purchase it digital 😊💜💙
Also known as “Slightly married”. Great classic film.
I agree, I can imagine it caused a little controversy then.

What a doll Evelyn Knapp was.
Loved this movie! True love is awesome!
So cute, they speed up at the end bless them. That friend was amazing! Where do you find friends like that these days... lol
You won't find friends like that in this time and day...No way No how!!!LOL
1930s movies are the best
Excellent. Thank you.
Yes a cute love story... with a great ending... Love the old movies when people loved people
This movie was absolutely "Charming."
Perfect movie for a wicked hot day here in NYC, love you Pizza🍕🍕💕
I remember riding the 'subway' ( the Brit's say "tube" ) in NYC June '88 crammed in a carriage like sardines in a tin, when all you want is your 'stop' to arrive. I spent 11 weeks living & working there when just 21. The Grand Canyon was by far the best, we drove there from Lancaster P.A it took 5 days, the sunrise at 6.20 was so impressive: the colours of that deep canyon slowly change hue, as the sun gets higher. These are some precious memories of years gone by, I share with you.
@@weepingwillow-ud6xl , thank you..... That was very kind of you.
what a gem! i didn't expect to love this movie so much
I really liked this movie... Thank you!! 💕
Whoa, Nellie! There were some morally challenging and uncomfortable moments that were artfully directed and truthfully considered. I guess that’s why it’s “pre-code.” 🤷🏻♂️😅🐎
Great film...dishy Jimmy.
Best feel good movie I've seen it a long time. Thanks
Wow .. 18.00 for rent .. love the movie .. ty 😘
But you didn't earn but 80 cents a week!
I loved it ty for this treat.
she always trying to get him out of her place. "don't you think you ought to be going"
Thank you so much for uploading this. Very good movie. Look at the landscaping at the end. Lovely street. I liked the actors in it, and I love 30s movies. They were so real, people really lived hard lives.
It's known as The Great Depression. My mother raised me on stories about the hard times everyone had and how they coped. Her family lived in the country so they could at least grow a vegetable garden, have some chickens and eggs, and share a cow with neighboring relatives for milk. (As long as the weather cooperated, they could scrounge up seeds for planting, the cow didn't go dry or die, and the hens kept laying, that is.) Her father had a badly crippled leg, so no one would hire him for farm work. They were so cash poor for things that couldn't be raised, like clothes and doctor bills. My dad's family was even worse off, his mother died when he was 10, leaving 7 children behind, born within 12 years. The last birth of twin infants killed her and they died soon after. Grandpa never remarried until he was an old man.
oh thank you send is old movies I love it.
Absolutely delightful movie!!! Thank you for posting it.
Thanks again for the smile !!!
Boy Pizza you done it again ! 💁👍🏾 great show ! 👏🏾😘🙋🏽
what is it about this movie, that makes it so charming: it's not the stupid story, that's for sure... The actors are perfect, the wardrobe and setting are nice, too.
Marie Prevost who played Nellie would die about five years after this movie. A popular actress in silent movies and a "Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty" in her early days, when sound came along she fell victim to weight problems, and alcoholism due to problems with her career. She was 38 when she died of malnutrition and alcoholism.
Walter Byron should have been a famous actor he had "IT" IMHO! Thanks PizzaFLIX:)
Another classic, thanks, gotta love pre code 😍
Oh, what a delight!
Absolutely brilliant thank you 😊
"I ought to punch you on the nose, in fact I think I will ", ... Brilliant lines in this really gorgeous film, Love it, x
The sound score & those instruments sounded as though it was coming from [78 rpm] 12 inch vinyl on a gramophone player. Sometimes the stylus would skip with a scratch. It's all part of that bygone era of the 1930's, watching these films, it's almost like time travelling.
One Of My Favorites 🌻👏👏 Love That Girl So Sweet 😻
I saw this movie years ago and I feel the same now as I did then...Marie Prevost "Nellie" stole the show, my gosh that gal is funny. Adorable film :)
Definitely pre-code! It's a shame Marie Prevost died young.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX
I like both kinds of eclairs.
Great movie
Oh certainly enjoy these films more than todays rude a d violent films.
Boy, Jason Robards didn’t look like his son, but he sure sounded like him! He was in another pre-code movie that I saw recently.
What fun!!!! Great actors and storyline! Along with a decent ending! Happy too!
That was such a cute movie! Thanks, glad I watched this. Good upload, PF. :)
There are probably more than a few real life stories that are very close to this story. Humans can be a complicated lot.
There's a lot of "Arthur" (Dudley Moore) in this film. "Arthur" doesn't follow exactly, but there certainly similarities.
