Because the kid’s got to learn that crying doesn’t give him what he wants. If parents take their kids out the moment they start crying they’re just being taught to cry more because it’ll work. It sucks for us who have to listen to it but that’s how it is

I used to work in a cafe and this is 100% accurate all day long you'd hear babies and toddlers screaming their heads off while their parents did fuck all if you're a parent it's probably white noise but if you're not it's nails on a chalk board 9 times out if 10 it's parents that can't be bothered to look after or care for their kids.

On one hand, if I can tell that the babies mother and father are trying their very best to comfort the baby and even then the baby is still incessantly crying then I can respect that, and if it becomes too much for me then I can always either move tables if it is possible or as a last resort just leave but in a respectful way in which I'm not trying to suggest that I am leaving because of the baby though at that point I'm pretty sure most people would guess that. In fact I feel sympathy for the baby because the baby is often seen as the target of scrutiny and scorn in these situations when it never asked to be born much less be born to irresponsible and inconsiderate parents that think the whole world revolves around them and just because they are parents, they should be pampered by society. Now I understand, if this was some apocalyptic mad max environment and I were in the only restaurant in the middle of a wasteland with a functioning water system then maybe under those circumstances I wouldn't think twice about "taking the higher ground" or being a good person and all that but assuming you live in the western world if not the united states itself, we live (statistically) in the most peaceful, progressive, and technologically sophisticated era that human beings have ever had the privilege of being in and I think in recognition of that, these situations are so trivial and so minor and so petty that in the light of such a realization, I can ball up my hands into fist, I can prepare to raise my voice, I can scrunch up my facial expression into the meanest grin that anybody has ever seen but hold on maybe I won't, maybe I don't have to, maybe there's a better way and I'll take that instead. In fact I might even go so far as to forfeit the hypothetical meal that I would have eaten and spend that money on them instead. We could do that and if we did we would be right but wait a minute, living in this world demands sacrifice from time to time and maybe we can take pride in that instead of feeling resentment and grief. Now I understand, if this was some apocalyptic mad max environment and I were in the only restaurant in the middle of a wasteland with a functioning water system then maybe under those circumstances I wouldn't think twice about "taking the higher ground" or being a good person and all that but assuming you live in the western world if not the united states itself, we live (statistically) in the most peaceful, progressive, and technologically sophisticated era that human beings have ever had the privilege of being in and I think in recognition of that, these situations are so trivial and so minor and so petty that in the light of such a realization, I can ball up my hands into fist, I can prepare to raise my voice, I can scrunch up my facial expression into the meanest grin that anybody has ever seen but hold on maybe I won't, maybe I don't have to, maybe there's a better way and I'll take that instead. In fact I might even go so far as to forfeit the hypothetical meal that I would have eaten and spend that money on them instead. Yeah believe it, well as long as it's in Denny's because I confess, I never was really into food from there especially there steak, it's gross but I digress. My point is that just because we can and just because we would be right if we actually applied what we can do and think we should do, maybe we can take some time even a couple minutes out of our day to think of a better way to do things and actually feel pretty damn good about it.
