Everyone wishes they had a friend/mechanic like Edd - but most of my friends are barely able to change a light bulb - LOL
Unfortunately, I am such a friend. Consequently, I get friends, friends of friends and friends of friends of friends, all wanting their cars fixed for free. Admittedly, some do pay me, but it is rarely worth all the damn time and trouble.
As a mechanic myself, I make sure I dont make friends with people, because they are not real friends.
@@garethjones8047 Mine are real friends, who occasionally need their cars fixed. It is when they start bringing their friends and recommending you to others that it becomes annoying. I have one or two people who pay me well and others who never seem to pay me. Always going to give me something the next time they see me, but never do. In all fairness, that only happens with small amounts and if I haven't had to buy new parts. No one has ever failed to repay me for parts.
He comes up with top tips, so here's a top tip for anyone who has these cars or a reliant robin, he should have dropped the exhaust, loosed the front engine mounts to stop them being ripped and lowered the whole lot down so its at an angle the gearbox would have slid out without the hastle he's is going through.

I had to do this on my Reliant Rialto, no ramp, just a jack, took allot of struggling to achieve.
I love this little auto. Makes the Smart car look like a Cadillac.
I would add solar panels and a radio with a cassette player and GPS.
Wow!! I thought my (US) smart car was small. That is a micro car...lol but I'd still love to drive it.
They couldn't get you a smaller modern gear box?

I can't believe that this car has a hydraulic clutch. Even my Renault had a cable clutch.
