In today's video, I take an old king-sized headboard from the late 1960s/early 1970s and attempt to redo it. Nothing went as planned, nothing went right, and the headboard was in way worse shape than I'd initially thought. Oh, and I uncovered an unintentional sign of the devil while sanding. No big deal.

Forget my earlier comments. It’s looks great in the end.
Not every project goes according to plan, but I think it turned out great!
Thank you! It's still better than not having it. I don't lose my pillow between the mattress and the window anymore!
We thought it looked great, but the work you had to do to get there might have made it worth buying a new one. You're probably the only person that will notice the flaws anyway. Great vid!
It was a bit of a problem but people want so much money for furniture in my town! At least it gave me something to do.
Kudos to your hard work. Maybe put lots of big pillows to cover the crack.
Thank you! The crack isn't really noticeable since I touched it up with the paint. I think the bed would look better with more pillows and I love the look, it just doesn't fit my lifestyle. They just end up tossed on the floor to get covered in dog hair!
@@AngieDoesStuff yes, extra pillows are a pain.
I think we underestimated how much it was damaged by sitting outside for so long.
Probably. I really didn't think it had been stored out there forever, though. I thought they moved it outside to sell it. Either way, it had been through it!
Or paint stripes so that the crack is minimized.
That is a novel idea of a sleep over. You are just a passenger in my bed. LOL
You're not wrong!
Looks heavy.
Mmhmm
Oh man! Ive had projects like that, that never work out the way you imagined it would. Im so sorry! But if it makes you feel any better, it does look ok. You really cant notice the crack on the video, once you got it in your room. And if you did put the tile on it, it would cover it and would look really nice. But i understand just being so sick and tired of a project that you just want to be done and you dont care anymore, what it looks like! Suggestion, if you would have used a flat paint, instead of the semi gloss, you would not see the bumpy texture or the repair part at all. Its because with more sheen, the light reflects off of every angle differently, and accents them. If you would have used a flat paint, it wouldnt reflect at all and you wouldnt see mistakes at all. Trust me. I was a journeyman painter for over 25 years. Flat paint will hide a multitude of sins! and then the accent tiles if you wish, but you wont need them anymore. Ps leave the trim painted in a semigloss and the accents will pop even more! Thanks for sharing your frustration. It makes us all human!
I thought about all of that. I didn't go with a flatter sheen because I knew it would end up getting worn faster from pillows and heads rubbing on it. It would end up unevenly shiny and discolored. The tiles weren't going to work either, because they would be sticking out a little more than 1/8" with sharp corners. My hair would almost certainly get stuck on it and pillows probably would too. It took many weeks to make all the decisions about what to do and I weighed all the options for quite some time. It really does help that it's inside; the natural light I was getting in the garage really isn't as forgiving as my overhead lights!
