- Pitch Pallas is sent out on a mission: Destroy a line of Atlesian drones that have gone haywire and slaughtered an entire settlement. However, his mission soon gets turned upside down...
After over 4 years, the first of our RWBY OC trailers is finally finished! It was a long, difficult road to get here, but we're so proud of how this fan animation turned out! 1 trailer down, 4 more to go... plus whatever comes after.

The Casting Call for the Mask Trailer is now up: cstng.cc/projects/ptch-mask-trailer-rwby-fan-animation
I wrote a short story called "My Hero" that serves as a sequel to this trailer. If you're interested in finding out more about the characters and learn what happened to them after the trailer, here it is: archiveofourown.org/works/45688816/chapters/114974527
We'll be uploading some of our models over the next few weeks on this page: www.cgtrader.com/combat-ready-studios
Man, if I had a good mic, I'd definitely audition for your project. Unfortunately, I do not.
Your video just got recommended to me today. I wish I had seen this earlier! I would have loved to audition. Hopefully there'll be more opportunities in the future? 👀
@@Kenuru Absolutely, yes! There's gonna be plenty more animations to come.
SO refreashing to see an OC actually struggle in a fight instead of just decimating, Loved that you could see moments where pitch was thinking on his face. Great weapon, greater character. Loved this.
Thank you so much! Having Pitch struggle was extremely important to us when figuring out the choreography. I'm glad it worked out!
Nick S one of the best things in the OC struggle is how he has to protect the girl while fighting the robots it´s kinda like AM vs AFO he could easily dodge his air cannon but case he has to protect the civie the fight escalates to a higher diff.
Amen
@@combatreadystudios7418 And it shows, such good work on both character and fighting choreograph. You really put life into this animation. Thank you for the video and I look forward to seeing your next project!
I get what you mean. So many times you see OCs with overpowered weapons or semblance that have little trouble against anything(looking at you SLVR), but this video shows the main protagonist have trouble with enemies. You can see him being hurt, and struggling to defeat the enemy. He's afraid, but at the same time he has to continue. It's actually impressive how human the character feels in just a 5 minute video.
Love those projects where you can see someone improve as they're completing it.
Ah, I see you also spotted the incredibly janky animation in the first scene. Yeah, luckily I got better since then xD
@@combatreadystudios7418 how can I email you?
@@combatreadystudios7418 what's Pitch's semblance
Holy smokes.
I am in LOVE with the choreography. Especially how it portrays that he isn't a perfect fighter. He's confident, but still get hit, trips and works hard for his victories.
Thank you! Having Pitch make mistakes and get hit was really important to us. No matter how good a fighter he is, he's gonna take a beating when the odds are stacked against him _that_ much.
@@combatreadystudios7418 he knew he was against a line of rogue drones in a nearly destroed settlement, right? How could odds get stacked against him at all? Why didn't he prepare for the fight for easier perfoming of the task?
@@tamop If it was just him there, he'd probably have an easier time. However, the mission ended up becoming a bit more difficult when he found a survivor. Protecting an innocent civilian against an army of robots is no easy task, even for veteran hunters/huntress'.
@@Twilightiger96 actually, protecting a civilian is the stupidest thing one could try to do here. A civilian must be evacuated, not "protected against an army of robots".
It's satisfying not seeing dialogue inbetween battles and also the fact the character in question is actually struggling. You can see the bruises forming from each strike he takes and the fact that he is being somewhat overwhelmed. He gotta protect the individual and also fight them off. *Truly remarkable*
I swear, fanmade RWBY hits way back home, like what Monty aspired to created. Even more than actual RWBY performing rn.
I love how the bright yellow of Pallas' eyes easily connects his design to the yellow of the little girl's blonde hair, which is such an obvious design choice to symbolize how the both of them share similar struggles with one another, but it just works!
I honestly think that it was a smarter decision than just giving her the same shade of yellow eyes tbh, because it makes her feel more "real," like she actually exists in the world, rather than just serving as a plot device with the same appearance and backstory as Pallas to demonstrate his character, if that makes sense.
Aaagh now I really wish we'd thought of that! Sadly this parallel wasn't intentional, though it works really well!
Uuuh I mean, yes, congratulations on discovering the depths of our genius
@@combatreadystudios7418 Uhhh sometimes your own genius even takes you by surprise! Surely that must be it.
I really enjoyed how you utilized lighting, shadows, and the highlights of the colors. Most RWBY fan animations wouldn’t even consider that, even the best ones like SLVR. It enhances the whole thing. Also I noticed you added depth of field, which is *chef kiss*. Carry all that with your future projects, and I can’t wait to see more!
Thank you so much! We actually made heavy use of colours, lighting and shadows precisely _because_ we noticed most other RWBY OC trailers didn't do it.
We wanted PTCH to stand out in some way, so we went hard on the art direction, lighting, shading, atmosphere and visual storytelling, which are often neglected in OC trailers. Of course, DARK has since put us to shame on most accounts, but still!
"ignore physics" is one of the best recipes for making a good video. theyre basically forces of nature clashing each other in a mythic tale
While this isn't the smoothest or most well rendered fan animation I've seen, I think it's still my favorite! There's so much character and personality that even without a word I can understand Pitch's motives, his willpower and determination to keep fighting even once his aura is shattered. And there's something about seeing him take hits and make mistakes that makes the fight feel more alive and believable. To top it off the music choice is perfection. I'm very excited to see your work going forward from this!
Also hoverboard sword. Hoverboard sword is best weapon.
So cool!! Love the parallels between Pitch and the kid
Love fan stuff like this its like rediscovering the original RWBY all over again
The crow thing with him sliding on his blade was a nice touch!!
That blade stand near the end! Was perfect, you made it your own.
This is impressive stuff, both technically and narratively.
I haven't seen many fan animations with models this good. There is obvious care put into the continuity of Pallas's design, and I was particularly taken by the nesting functionality of his sword. The choreography - while noticeably stiff at times - is elaborate and nicely displays Pallas's distinct fighting style. I don't have the expertise to comment much more on that, but the quality here stands out to even my layman's eye.
As for the story being told, you did a good job of telling it through the environment and how Pallas responded to that environment. The way he immediately prioritized protecting the girl as soon as he knew she was there, and taking many otherwise avoidable hits to do so, says a lot about his priorities and personal ethics. The fact that he's fighting a squad of haywire Atlas droids is also very intriguing all on its own, and it makes me wonder what they were even doing in what appears to be a Valian or Mistrali settlement.
That said, I also think you were a little heavy handed with the parallels between him and his young ward, especially with the extended scenes that substitute her with Pallas's childhood self. The fact that he was saving a child from a burning town, and doing so at great personal risk, already made for a very clear reflection of the flashback scene at the start of the trailer.
A couple criticisms I'm not sure where else to put:
- You put a lot of focus on the character's expressions. This is fine and probably necessary in an animation with minimal voice acting like this, but the camera spends *so* much time on them that the pause in the action becomes very noticeable, especially considering the killer robots actively bearing down on the characters' position. The recent RWBY volumes have a similar tendency, and it almost always detracts heavily from the scene for me.
- I'm not sure how to interpret Pallas's robotics. The way they are revealed makes them seem important to his backstory, but, unless I've overlooked something crucial, there's little to suggest how he got such severe injuries and how they are relevant. I like the design choice, but it doesn't seem to work with the narrative and lands a little flat because of that.
- This is more nitpicky, but the way Pallas gracefully landed on his sword after beating the big bot felt really out of place. He'd just been shown struggling to even stand, and that his aura was on its last legs if not broken outright. Him executing such a showy maneuver kind of undermined the struggle of all that.
All said, I'm very much looking forward to seeing more. Your recent animation reinterpreting Lionheart's fighting style is one of my favorite RWBY fan animations on UA-cam, and, between that and this, I have very high hopes for the future of this studio's work.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm really glad you pointed out the part where Pitch took hits to protect the girl, that was meant to be an important establishing character moment and I'm glad it got across.
As for your criticisms, they're entirely fair. A lot of this comes down to my relative lack of experience, the project changing over time and me trying to work around the limitations of the format. The semi-flashback always worried me, because, well, it's a half-flashback in a short film without dialogue. The story was already difficult enough to follow _without_ me throwing that kind of curve ball. So I wanted to make very clear what was happening, even at the risk of being heavy-handed. Also, Pitch facing his literal past self was important for a story beat that I... kinda didn't convey all that well.
As for the close-ups, I really wanted to sell the characters' emotions, and I've always been a fan of acting close-ups, though they're much harder to get right in animation, and even with that in mind I probably overdid them.
Pitch's prosthetics are part of that story beat I mentioned, but the implication I was trying to get across was that they _do_ very much connect to the traumatic event in Pitch's backstory. The song, Rebuilt, might actually give some additional context clues.
The landing on the sword was another blunder, but honestly, it fits his character pretty well, so I'm actually kinda happy it turned out that way (though I wish we'd done a better job at selling his fatigue during and after the final fight).
@@combatreadystudios7418 I would like to add to the nitpicking a little. The area where Pitch found the girl was very out of place, it would be much better if he found her inside a building hiding instead of being out in the open with all that AKs running around literally raining down hell on everything because if so, she would have been shredded along with everyone that didn't survive the attack.
Another is the part where Pitch fought while protecting the girl, the way it was executed was kinda bad. First, with the situation they were in being surrounded like that would have injured if not killed the girl, there was no way that Pitch could have deflected all those attacks if they were to attack simultaneously. It would be safer for the girl if they have been backed to a wall since there wouldn't be any threats for Pitch to deal with from behind them, it can also showcase more of the struggle that was portrayed in that fight scene since he would need to take the brunt of the attacks while needing to stand still so he can effectively protect the girl. Second, the way the girl moved was too detrimental to Pitch's situation and would have landed her in a more dangerous situation than if she stood still.
You could also have showcased his semblance a little more (Me assuming his semblance is the shield grid he put up to back up his aura's protective capabilities with) making him take more hits and even showcase his tactical prowess by using the corpse of the AKs that surrounded them as temporary shields or making them get friendly fire.
For the good part though, I like how he saw himself in the girl, and how Pitch was motivated more to not let what happened to him happen to the girl showing his character with the need for words. Anyways, it was a good watch, can do some work but I can see the potential. (And also me being pleased that someone has finally made a good cyborg character animation.) Keep it up.
@@blazeshellz1475 I agree, with the exception of your comments about the girl's movements being "detrimental." You are right that she wasn't positioning herself optimally, but why would she be? She's a little kid that - presumably - has no combat training, just saw her family killed and home burned, and is surrounded by killer robots. She's going to be panicky and trying to run from the danger, even if doing so isn't the most tactically sound choice
Furthermore, I'd argue it makes for a more interesting situation if she is trying to run. It forces Pitch to be mobile and think on his feet, which puts his very dynamic style of fighting on display. And frankly, a large part of what makes this animation good is that Pitch is in a really tough situation that he's struggling mightily to manage, and that is largely contingent on his need to protect his flighty ward
@@oliverlarosa8046 Yes, I am aware of that counterpoint, but my point in my comment is that the direction the artist themselves chose was kinda bad.
First, by showing the girl that he's willing to save her, she would have a psychological backing to not move from her position where her protector asked to stay put.
Second, she probably saw all the people running around being gunned down that's why she hid (In our case, sit in a corner of the open battlefield) and stayed in a single place because she knows that running is bad since you'll be gunned down giving her more incentives to stay put.
Another of my point was them being surrounded, there is no way Pitch could have protected the girl if they have attacked simultaneously (Especially from the back) especially since the AKs were using mainly guns. Unless Pitch can share his Semblance (As I assume that is what it is) with the girl and have her shielded too, then his efforts would have been for nothing.
As for the mobility and scene being dynamic, that can still be achieved by my stated suggestion, and add something more, like at first since they're surrounded and backed to a wall the fight was almost static in nature, Pitch just deflecting and defending, but then after some moments (AKs marching forward closing the encirclement down), he gets his hand on the nearest ones and then started using them as shields, counter fire and other things, this would be showcasing his resilience (His shield Semblance and also being able to bear the pain of getting constantly hit. Also the struggling part), mobility (First deflecting fire from multiple angles to keep the girl safe and then using the enemies as a makeshift protection and weapon), and tactical prowess (Breaking the encirclement without letting the girl come to harm by improvising along the way).
There's also the added emotional impact that can be used to improve the scene (The girl is scared but sees someone who is willing to put everything on the line to save them, while in Pitch's past presumedly there was no one. This fulfilling the character motivation of Pitch)
@@combatreadystudios7418 I personally liked the close ups, but maybe they lasted a bit long? Like, a second too long or so. But it's hard to convey the emotions you want with limited time, so it's understandable.
I loved so much about this, it isn't often I turn into a googly-eye watching RWBY fan animations, but this is one of the few that got me. I love visual storytelling, and the fact that his trailer was not only amazing at showing off the cool fighting style of the OC, but also his story (The parallels between Pitch and the little girl), esp near the end. Omg.. Absolutely nerding out. And the choreography was so engaging. Keep up the amazing work and getting even better!
Pitch is a Hella interesting character and it hurts to see how he's struggling but at the same time i love watching how he thinks on his feet while he fights ! it really plays well with a student still learning how to be a huntsmen ! Can't wait to see more of him and his team !
This was awesome! The storytelling was fascinating, and really compelling with how you presented it during the fight-which is of course just superb itself-I’m super excited for more.
I'm really glad people are commenting on the storytelling! That aspect was really important to us, and we put a lot of effort into making sure the story was as interesting and compelling as possible.
You GENIUSES!! The animation, the quality, the choreography, the writing, the freaking expressions man!? This is sooooo much better than I could've ever imagined. And the music. THE MUSIC. It's all so PITCH perfect!
I genuinely feel that this is my favorite RWBY fan animation currently on UA-cam. Like I watched SLVR and thought it was really cool, but there are so many things that I love abt this one. I’ll admit I was jarred by the models since I’m a baby who likes fancy graphics but once I saw how well animated the facial expressions and eyes were I didn’t care. Just those expression animations made the characters so much more real. I’d rather have this than an insanely detailed model that didn’t utilize expressions well. The choreography is also sick and the cinematography was RLY cool. The way the camera moved during fights was really well done. I also loved the storytelling here and how Pitch essentially saw himself in that girl. He definitely struggled in the fight (also a great thing since it made the stakes more emotional) but was able to go on because of his clearly strong will. That scene where his vision flickers between seeing his kid self and the girl were perfect! Top that off with good music and yeah! I know this stuff takes a really long time to make and that it’s really hard but I hope that doesn’t discourage you too hard from making this stuff because I want to see the rest of PTCH so badly. Cheers and thanks for the awesome animation!
Thank you, that means so much!! We didn't really expect this to be anyone's favourite RWBY fan animation (though we were not-so-secretly hoping it would be) We actually looked at SLVR a lot in the making of this trailer, both as an inspiration and to search for ways to stand out.
And while I adore SLVR, the two things I found a little lackluster were the writing and the colour palette. So we went all in on those two. Plus, the story has always been a huge part of PTCH, and will continue to do so in the future. In fact, I wrote a short story on AO3 that further develops the characters and their relationship, in case you wanna check it out: archiveofourown.org/works/45688816/chapters/114974527
And yes, we'll definitely make more! We're already working on the next trailer. Hopefully it'll release in about a year!
Edit: Also, if you haven't yet, check out DARK. They do some very similar things to us when it comes to colour, tone and atmosphere. And they do most of those better, too.
@@combatreadystudios7418 I will certainly check out DARK since I’ve heard great things about them. Thanks for sharing the story with me too; I’ll read that tonight. It’s funny really how we can get so invested in characters even if we’ve only seen so little of them.
@@haasithgarapati8261 I was trying to get viewers invested in the characters, so I'm really glad that worked! Hopefully the short story will get you invested further.
As for DARK, it starts out pretty shaky. Mainly because the first trailer was the first animation the guy ever made. But by the time they get to the third trailer they're pretty good, and everything from the fourth onwards is fucking incredible!
DARK was a major inspiration for us, as you'll no doubt see.
As an aspiring fight animator, I absolutely love the use of facial expressions in this! It's extremely important to incorporate the characters' moods as it can tell a story just as much as the music, designs, environment, and fight choreography itself. I especially love the small segment at 2:48, where Pitch takes a deep breath even after sustaining so much damage. This one shot alone communicates that he's competent and resilient even under immense pressure.
I will be here my guy
Seeing projects like these just motivates me into writing my stories again.
The theme, the stakes and the combat and his abilities...bloody hell, it's simply amazing! You earned a sub, this was fantastic!
I loved how it slowed down and you could see a flashback of his past and the little girl during that desperate moment of the fight. You managed to drive a really deep emotional blow, connecting me to the character in only five minutes. Not to mention the amazing fight scenes and kick ass music. Truly amazing work
Interesting ideas and well-done storytelling. The fight was also rather interesting, my only real critics being the models and some of the animation having a stiffness to it. That said, your team did a great job and hope you continue to make more content.
Yeah, Pitch was the first model I ever made in Blender, so he has some early teething problems I've outgrown since.
@@Drengade Oh shit you made Pitch’s model? Great stuff there; I can tell a lot of effort went into it.

I like this. The element of the main character having to protect a civilian adds challenge and tension to the fight.
Inspirational stuff! Very creative choreography and ideas on show! 🎉
That moment when Fan Animations have better fight scenes than the source material
what are you talking about?
better? in what way?
i didnt realize we were counting jankiness as a plus
this animation is alright but in terms of quality it is nowhere near the show
@@mrgreentheorem animation wise the actual show is better but the fight choreography in this is better than most of the recent fights we have seen in RWBY since V3
though the fight of watts vs ironwood was spectacular and raven vs cinder too
This is far from perfect from a purely technical viewpoint but you can see the heart and soul of the people behind the project in every frame. so inspiring ! also I'm in love with this fighting style
The music sync??? This is art
My, this was one hell of a beautiful ride from start to finish! There's so much going on! From the gorgeous shots, the choreography and the effects to the storyline interwoven in the entire character trailer! Truly a sight to behold. In just five minutes, you managed to really make me feel for Pitch! Can't wait to see what comes next
I don't know how many times I repeated it.
I very liked the design of the characters, the song, and the mystery of the tragic childhood of the protagonist, and how he lost part of his human body.
This was fantastic.👍
Did a greaty job on making the weapon look like it's heavy as hell, the weight and momentum could clearly be seen, it's something people forget about a lot.
Love seeing fan animation for RWBY, probably the best thing that's left of the show at this point, makes us wonder how good it could have been. Keep up the good work!
I'm in love with the way the action and the music sync up at 2:23 - 2:35 it's soooo good
amazing work on the animation and the music, very good stuff!
You got me fangirling! Though the graphics and u know quality isn't great, it completely reminded me of the beginning of RWBY. Full of expression, super fun and amazing. The way he fought with his weapon, the way it looked and the emotions in his eyes. I absolutely loved it! Thank you for animating this :)
Iam so in love with this!! I loved how you'd switch out the character's young self with the little girl! Keep it up I look forward to seeing more
Wow! Your choreography was absolutely amazing, but what really got me is your storytelling. You did so good, especially flashing between the girl and the kid-version of our hero here. I’m gonna be rewatching this a few hundred times!

this was amazing! really well done, the music felt like RWBY too
there were some notes in the songs that reminded me of the volume 3 opening at some points.
the detail on the faces were great because they were more expressive than what other trailers have and the fight choreography was spectacular. It felt and look liked Monty's style and had great references to his work and RWBY in general.

I love that little easter egg with the captions before the 5 minute mark
This has so much promise and so good! I love how you show your character's backstory and the struggle he has trying to protect someone on his own! Definitely subscribing
The fact that this is SO well done and has visuals similar to the 3D fights done by Death Battle; I’m woken and impressed! Can’t wait for the next trailers! Keep it up!
I have been blown aways
Love this animation!! I'm so happy to see that RWBY fan content is still going so strong. I just came here after watching the reaction from Ghoxtherebel. This is amazing too!! I can't wait to see the rest of the team.
I can tell a lot of passion went into this. Props.
great Job! fight choreography was nice! the models looked pretty good and the pacing was really good too! you told a very compelling story! I cant wait to see what comes next!
Impressive showcase of what must have been really hard work. Well done!
Thank you so much! Couldn't have gotten here without the jump-start you and Andrew gave me! You guys are awesome film teachers!
THIS is what one of these trailers should be. Badass OCs are cool and all, but all that strength means nothing if there's no risk to contrast it. Also, excellent use of facial expressions, another thing you don't often see in these. Cinematography was great, and motivated. The mis-en-scene composition was hella well put together.
11/10. I've quit watching the actual series, but I'd throw hours at this one.
Still trying to wrap my head around how y'all did that light smear. Just getting into 3D myself so it's a little above my current knowledge level.
Thank you so much!! We _are_ planning on telling a full story with these characters (though we're not sure how to do it yet; currently we're thinking top-down RPG with some pre-rendered cutscenes), so if you liked the storytelling in this trailer you've got a lot to look forward to!
By light smears, do you mean the trails that follow the weapon swings? If so, we used Dillon Gu's Mesh Trails add-on. It's very simple to use but costs money, though it's included if you buy the Goo Engine, which is a version of Blender optimized for 3D anime. If that's the sort of stuff you wanna make with Blender, it's a worthwhile investment!
This is hands down the best RWBY fan animation I've ever seen!
Oh wow thank you so much! That means the _world_ considering we're competing with the likes Mark Zhang, Raxacory and tommylau74
@@combatreadystudios7418 Raxacory has a lot of problems, I'd say AK Motions is one of the best
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 I was talking only about OC fan trailers. Outside of that AK Motions is fantastic, but I can barely think of any problems Raxacory has by now? The visuals look gorgeous, the atmosphere is immersive, the fights are fluid, exciting and creative, and the Grimm are terrifying.
@Combat Ready Studios Besides the animation graphics themselves looking bleh, I don't like the character designs much. They're overdetailed generic fantasy armor and leather like the Maya designs in canon, and like them none of the characters have a theme like they did in the Monty years. For instance, Weiss is a princess + ballerina, Jaune is wearing a hoodie and jeans with armour hastily slapped on to show he's an inexperienced pretend warrior, or Coco has a nice stylish outfit but also a beret because she's part fashionista, part military. It obviously wasn't perfect, still don't know what the fuck Blake's aesthetic was supposed to be, but certainly better than later on, and I'm far from a Monty worshipper. Best example of my issues with his character design being the hooded guy, dude is one of the cringiest OCs I've ever seen in RWBY fan animations. Dude looks like something I'd think was cool back when I was 10. His head is too small too. Also none of them seem to be based on fairy tale characters or characters from older source material, though that's a common mistake with OCs it seems. One of the reasons I think SLVR are the best trailers overall even if other fan animations have better choreography or more interesting ideas, they look like they belong in RWBY, their outfits have the right amount of detail and suggest a theme, and they're based on characters from myth and legend. Another thing I'm not fond of is his Grimm designs, also too overdetailed and don't really mesh with the other Grimm aesthetics and seem to lack a theme or inspiration like canon Grimm, what is the Nightmare's theme? Or the blade one? Not a fan of the relentless nihilism and unnecessarily dark tone in his animations either, seems to be a plague with RWBY fan works. This isn't Warhammer people.
Overall he ranks among the better fan animators but he's far from my favorite on aesthetics and ideas alone.
DAMN! dog we need you in the kitchen more often because you have COOKED! This was awesome! it has so much character for just the five minutes we get to see. the amount of flair and spice you put into these scenes was excellent. I cannot wait to see what else is in store
This is amazing. I love the music, the fight choreography, the character design, just everything, ughhh. This is so good, if you made a full time series, I'd watch it
We _do_ have pretty detailed story ideas for a full series! We can only hope that we'll actually get to make it one day
@@combatreadystudios7418 OMG YES!!!!
This is one of the oc animatic ive seen. Youre going to go far dude
While this is for the algorithm, great job on this. Been waiting a while and it didn’t disappoint
Thanks YT algorithm, this is the kind of content I wanna see. Well done mate, there was clearly passion and effort behind this one!
I think it would be great if RT allowed a "Remnant-Verse" to become a thing. There's just so much potential and we don't see enough of it through RWBY's eyes.
Oh man this came out so good I love the personality you gave the characters
I’ve seen plenty of fan animations in my day, but I couldn’t explain how this one is better then the rest. The character seem. . . Better. Be it more expressive, actually using their whole body, or whatever else it may be, this is just better.
I'm not sure if this makes it 'better' than the others, but to my knowledge this is the most story-driven RWBY fan animation out there. Some of the others (like NYON and the newer SLVR videos) have dialogue, but most of it boils down to lighthearted quips. PTCH is one of the few who tries to tell a full story and flesh out its protagonist beyond the surface-level.
I wouldn't necessarily say this makes it better than the others, I just focus on a different, more character-driven aspect than most. Some of the DARK videos and the 30 Days Lee Remake do a similar thing.
Good lord. Wow. That’s actually super good. Like others have said, you can tell the progression on experience as the fight continues. I just found this but I hope you can make more!
Thant was awesome! that was the most intensely nerve-wracking and dramatic RWBY fan animation I've ever seen. both the choreography and storytelling was brilliant. the way you told the back story thru the little girl was BRILIANT! the fight animation improved with the video went on. I look foreword to see the rest as it looks like you pot a lot of thought and hart into it. :).
EVERYTHING WAS SO IN SYNC I LOVE THISS!!
Amazing to see so much talent and creativity be put on display! I'm super excited to see what comes next!
I love everything about this! The soundtrack was fantastic. Pitch was such a great character - from his aesthetic, to his fighting style, to the visual storytelling of his arc. I love how the rendered characters look slightly out of sync with the background - that’s a great nod to the original seasons 1 and 2. Little fan services here and there like the homage to Crow with using the sword as a landing was beautifully done.
Thank you for doing this. I’m super excited to see where it goes. The other character designs in their portraits look great too!
Thank you so much! I’m really excited what comes next.
I’m glad you mentioned the characters being out of sync with the background, that was a detail I didn’t think people would really notice! It was meant to be a throwback to when RWBY had a more 3D look to it. Volume 6 was the first time everything was so 2D that it felt just a little too flat for my liking, and didn’t really use the advantages of 3D-animation as much. So we based the style more on the V4-5 era, but with the emphasis on colour contrast from the 4 original trailers, trying to get the best of both worlds. Plus the harsh, cold, industrial environment looked better in a more photorealistic style.
We’re not sure if we’re gonna keep this style moving forward, we’re making some experiments, but I definitely think it worked well for the Steel Trailer. Thank you for noticing!
Intriguing! Love the animation, the backstory, the fighting, the weapons! Really well put together! Haven’t seen any as good as this one since mark zhang
Absolutely Amazing, and the Music was perfect for Pitch. With both legs and 1 arm replace, Rebuilt was perfect. On a sidenote, love how you use the Album artwork on the belt.
Other way around, actually! The album artwork was _based_ on the belt. It's Pitch's emblem.
Glad you like the video!
Damn that was great, loved all the flashbacks/parallels that occurred during the fight. Awesome work!
Absolutely loving the syncs with the music!
The complimentary comments on the quality of this cinematic are entirely well earned, this was amazing to watch and I’m definitely checking out more of your content 😊
I love this!
I love the swords and the use of lighting; everything from the choreography to the editing was amazing, but the constant changing between purple, red, and white for the main source of lighting as well as the light based blade turning into a rifle at the end were my favorite parts. I can't wait to see more.
We were so happy when I finally got the shader working with coloured light
@@Drengade It looks amazing, you guys did a great job.
This is awesome!! The color choice in this is very eye pleasing. Keep it up!
that's a sick animation omg i can't wait to see you being accepted by rwby's crossover, this even gave me motivation to make my own oc with my team... this is BADASS!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
so much was said without anything needing to be said at all, MY GOD!
very well done, live the char design and how its not a one sided fight.
i love the cinamatic lighting in this vid. Its very good
Man I love RWBY fan Animations, I always imagine them actually in the world, and it just provides such a great background to it that the show just doesn't explore, Amazing work!
This is absolutely wonderful. Both storytelling and action. The colours are nice too. And I'll check out your casting call
love and hard work
also, i love the moving particle-like behind the moon, reminds me of the Moon that Never Sets from LoD.
I am so excited that this trailer is finally out!!! This looks so good! congrats to everyone on the team! Gui, my friend, i'm so proud of you!!!!
Thank you!! Really glad you like it!
Damn this was fantastic! Very raw work but you can feel the pure talent behind it. Told a compelling story with the most minimal dialogue from background exposition. There was wonderfully creative choreography to match with the audio. The powers, abilities, and fighting was all kept fairly low-scale and subtle and were all given a moment to shine. Most amazingly, the protagonist was shown beaten and vulnerable and persevering. Can't wait to see what else Combat Ready Studios has!
This video reminded me of what I liked about EARLY RWBY. Thanks, hope to see more from you soon.
That syncro with the beat when he cut through robots... Awesome work !
What is with RWBY fandom recently? Good god this was so good!
I just so friggin happy that RWBY has continued to find a new life through the fans. Monty would be proud!
Outstanding work. This is definitely on par with the original RWBY Red trailer. Excellent use of imagery to convey the story :D
So, I don't know if you'll ever read this, but I just wanted to say, this brought tears to my eyes. I'm not even joking. I'm a vocal fan of RWBY and not shy about it, but seeing this episode took me back to when I first watched Volumes 1 and 2 when they aired on *Netflix* (even including the weird invisible noses haha!)
No shade to the animators that made Team SLVR and Team DARK, they're great fanimations in their own right, but this knocked it OUT OF THE PARK. It's a crime that UA-cam took six months to recommend this to me. Hopefully I'll see more of your content in my recommended feed soon! I only wish I had money to spare to support you...but I am Le Poor. :(
Amazing work, and Cheers 💜
We read every comment, at least so long as we get notifications!
Thank you so much for this, it means a lot! Being compared positively to SLVR and DARK kinda blows my mind considering how intimidating it was to try and live up to them.
We've got tons more stuff in the works, and we can't wait for you to see it!
Loved this animation! Everything was perfect! It was really amazing, the animation is so well done i absolutly love it
This was INSANE!? I loved the lighting on so much of the attacks!!
So glad I found you before 1k
Your content is bound to blow up
Thank you!! I really, really hope it does. Having PTCH join the ranks of SLVR and DARK would be the dream
I can never get enough of how the awesomness of the coreography and the awesome rythm of the music pretty much married eachother like vanilla and chocolate to create THE MOST AWESOMNEST AWESOME TO HAVE EVER AWESOMED!!!
Literal chills. Excellent work
Edit: I also love the small detail that Pitch is the pitch character
This was epic and I love that they struggled in the fight!
That was pretty cool
Enjoyed this trailer! Awesome job and great song choice!
Thank you! We actually composed the song ourselves. You can find it and other original songs in our channel.
Whoa! Holy smokes, this is impressive! Seriously, Monty Oum would be happy to see someone this talented and inspired by his works. This is great both in imagery and in story.
The underrated beauty that is Gravity Dust
Ok i have no idea if some of the robotic movement were to portray that he is half robot, or if its a lucky coincedence, but I like it. Especially that eye movement, very VERY nice with that. Hell best part of the video id say
Yo sickkk, nice to see this completed!
Thank you so much for your contribution! Your fight animation was amazing!
WOW this was great! Its very simple bit hits everything it needs to be a great story! 10/10 Easy
