Obsidius would absolutely make it to Vytal festival finals with what he was packing, greatsword turned into Shield and lance on top of his semblance pretty much would likely allow the dude to easily win most mids of the tournament in a fight, only way I can see some losses is if he has to face Pyhrra, or his teamates cant pull their weight in the 4 on 4 or 2 on 2 match ups and he aint enough to flex the win.
@@eliasochoa8880 i think its something of momentum Acceloration/ energy transfer As he can use his aura to enhance his movments as well attacks that his him to enhance his own attacks as he takes them
@@eliasochoa8880 there’s a link in the description with Obsidus’ bio, but I think it’s that he can take the active energy from attacks and redirect it as he would like. I liked how in the sword fight Simin is pushed back when blocking Obsidius’ larger blade, makes it feel like the weapons have weight to them and in general their moves have impact. I really enjoyed the choreography
It would be fun to go in depth on all the detail in this fight but one thing I love about it in particular is actual back and forths between the two characters without needing to slow the pace of the fight 3:41 in specific is a really neat showing of how the advantage in combat actually flows between the two as opposed to one person dominating the fight, and it happens in just 10 seconds: Simin gets knocked down and recovers, goes on an offensive flurry of attacks after predicting the greatsword's movements which is Obsidius' weakness, and is about to land what would be a critical knockdown but Obsidius effectively uses his semblance to turn that momentum (haha) against him Stuff like that is really enjoyable to watch because then it isn't just someone showcasing how broken they are, rather it's a combination of using powers effectively and reacting to an opponent These things are amazing and I truly hope in the future it'll go well!
I'm not, he's much too talented and not tainted by fandom drama like the others. I lost a lot of respect for a lot of RWBY fan creators after they got mad about people's valid complaints about the oversexualized holiday art collabs.
@Manuel kfc So a bunch of RWBY fan artists, a good chunk of which were porn artists started doing art collabs mainly around holidays, they started with a Christmas collab and predictably they couldn't control themselves. And people had pretty reasonable complaints, mainly that they invited porn artists to draw sexualized art for a SFW holiday collab, and that art amounting to nearly all the female characters wearing tight skimpy clothing with pornstar bodies that their male counterparts didn't (one or two male characters were shirtless or wearing shorts and an open shirt but it's not nearly as sexualized and they all had vaguely canonical body proportions). Also there was other cringe like Sytokun drawing art of Tyrian abducting Fiona with rapey vibes and trying to excuse it as a Krampus reference or the fact Fiona and Robin were the two Happy Huntresses that got art and coincidentally are the two conventionally attractive ones versus Joanna the masculine black woman and May the trans women. And of course they tried to call people that think that female characters don't always need to be drawn with vacuum-sealed clothes prudes for calling out blatant misogynistic double standards. Because NSFW artists are fragile as fuck. And sadly all the HTDM, roaches they are and a good chunk of the FNDM took their side and I lost a lot of respect for artists and other creators like Aestheticc-Meme, JumpinJamz, A.G. Nonsuch, and the guy that made NYON that either contributed to the collab and defended the sexual art or weren't part of it but still defended it. And it only solidified my hatred for people like Syto or Keith Montalban, who was one of the main organizers and whose OCs are in this video. Didn't help a good few of the artists were in the HTDM anyway so they were never gonna take criticism well and get asspats from their circle but also probably did this all to be spiteful at least somewhat. They then did a Chinese New Year collab that was less horny but still pretty horny, and while I don't know if I can agree with the cultural appropriation accusations considering some Asian people worked on it (most weren't Chinese though), moreso it's kinda shitty how often anime sexualizes traditional Chinese clothing. But that's a bigger issue than an art collab. Their more recent art is less sexualized as a whole but still. Basically I lost a lot of respect from most of the fan artists and fan creators and I feel Mark dishonors himself associating with them and in general he's just so much more talented than everyone else here and you can see from how better designed his OCs are in comparison to say Keith's cringey self-insert that dates Weiss. People are of course gonna act like the fans were solely overreacting here because the HTDM thinks they're prosecuted.
It's awesome to see creators bring their ideas together and feature them all in the same show. Here's looking forward for more SLVR and DARK, among others :3
You have no idea how much I’ve missed this channel. Fights like these were why I loved RWBY. I really hope to see a reappearance of the Charcoal character!!!
I thought I was gonna be in love with Lycan but here I am absolutely adoring Simin! He's so witty and fun, and a clutz to boot. But I can just tell He's gonna be a total hero. I LOVE Ragora's new outfit, too! This was so well done. I feel like I'm watching Monty's world and animation coming to life all over again. Awesome work!
4:58 Interesting to see Simin go out of his way to pick up his weapon, even though he can make more. I guess he needs to preserve dust. Would be cool to see a kind of Unlimited Blade Works style attack, where he just throws a bunch of weapons at his opponent. With the added twist that throughout the rest of the fight he would be hopping around picking up all those scattered weapons.
I actually thought up a lot of head cannon based on this like maybe he gets all of his dust from smaller shops because doesn't support skeevy large corporations and that's the reason he was trying to buy the eruption dust from a small street vendor instead of a bigger dust dispensary like a one owned by the Schnee dust company, it would probably take months for a small business to get that type of rare dust in stock verses a monolithic industry like the Schnee dust company but since they abuse faunus for cheap labor he prefers to have less dust to work with for longer periods of time rather then buy any more accessable but Inhumanly sourced dust, it'd be kind of a cool thing for him to go out of his way to do in spite of how obsessed he is with dust since he actually has a faunus on his team, that and the fact that Lycan dresses kind of like a White Fang member gives them gives them a sorta more punk edge. Alternatively though it could just be a result of how Simin grew up, maybe he didn't have a lot and had to use anything he could get his hands on or it could just be a mindset brought as a result of his clumsiness, he never stumbles in battle and makes thorough use of every weapon he makes so that the dust it's made of doesn't go to waste. It could also be a whole combination of these ideas or none of em
Dunno if youve seen this video but a UA-camr named shadiversitu tackled idea of how u can functionally use a fanstasy giant greatsword in various combat situations. This video almost seems like a perfect realization of that conceptual fighting style he talked about using the momentum and weight of the blade as linking points into other moves and keeping the blade on the shoulder for block attacks and moving to other strikes. Amazing animation 👏🏽👏🏽
Im not gonna lie, this animation with Simin had Unlimited blade works vibes of emiya. Like I can feel him seeing Simin fight, was so good I was at the edge of my seat just hearing there blades crash together.
Oh my god the absolute charm and not to mention the amazing animation for the fight scenes really just made me smile the entire time watching this!! It really reminds me of classic rwby with the cute yet hilarious interactions that really makes everyone just seem like they’re all having a good time. Amazing work yet again!
Probably one of the best-choreographed fight scenes I have ever seen and I'm sad no one else is talking about this. From Simin checking Obsidius' sword in one of the exchanges to keep his pressure and flurry of attacks going to Obsidius torquing his body after getting swept by Simin and using the giant shield he had planted beneath him to save his fall and the boosters from the shield to carry on and boost the momentum into a spinning kick to the ribs- all of that and MORE. Words can't even begin to properly describe this masterpiece
That fight between simin and obsidius was fantastic! You could actually see the weight behind every swing with Obsidius's great sword, using the momentum to his advantage! Very nicely done! I'm so glad to see stuff from you again. Your slvr animations are some of the best RWBY fan content I've seen!
I like the fighting style of the Broadsword guy (probably wrong name for the sword xD). It reminds me of a fighting style used in God Eater since they're weapons are usually behemoth sized. Great job showing the cqc and making sure that the character can handle himself even if the weapon isn't readily available which shows experience and versatility. Ugh, I love RWBY fan OC
Incredible work, guys, I'm very happy to see Mark back and this time alongside other talented animators. The fight was truly majestic and the dialouges spot on, that trough had to be the most exxaggerate sword and shield combo ever( not that is a bad thing). Best of luck with the rest of the project.
I absolutely love the idea of OC tournaments. Ever since the Velvet outfit contest I have always wished the show would feature fan OCs as characters in Remnant, and this is the first time I've seen it fully realised. Thank you so much Mark for keeping these dreams alive. EDIT: Also you mentioned 4 episodes, so this means a member of Team SLVR is each gonna fight a member from the different OC Teams?! Ok just finished. The animation came so far omfg. The movements were so fluid and the effects were on point. Love Simon’s arsenal per usual but seems like he got some additions. The fire axes were cool and we finally got to see his earth weapon. Obsidius was great too, his weapon is awesome. That big ass sword expanding to a rocket shield was badass. I was jumping with excitement when I saw the rest of SLVR, and damn near fainted when I saw the other characters. Like be fr, SLVR, NYON, & DARK all in one place???? The other OCs are great ofc but that’s literally 3 of the most iconic fan teams??? I cannot wait to see where this goes. Good work to everyone who worked on this, and thank you for carrying the RWBY spirit. Monty would’ve loved this collaboration I know it. Here’s to Volume 10+ and more amazing fan work like this!!!!
I was already completely overjoyed to just get to see these characters hanging out, being themselves outside of the fight, I was having so much fun with the dialog and voice acting and quirkiness. Then you reminded me that you're also an unbelievably skilled fight animator with an immense pool of talent and a tendency to improve by leaps and bounds every time. Amazing stuff, Mark, can't wait to see what you pull off next.
Love how it took the whole team to get Lycan a chill pill. I also get the impression that the club teacher is meant to resemble Monty, which is a banger way to honor him. Not to mention both the choreography and characterization were top notch. The torch burns bright; as you've been inspired, so too has your audience. Thank you for your craft and vision.
The GOAT is back! I love Team SLVR's relationships. Your animation is top notch as always, but I wouldn't mind just an episode of them goofying around and chilling with each other so we can get to know them better :D
The current RWBY actually can't compare to your raw talent Mark. If there's a next Monty; It's you for sure. It's refreshing to see that the ideas behind Monty's work aren't lost entirely, because there's astounding animators out there, like you, who make these projects with extraordinary passion. Made my day man, and honestly, reminded me of why I used to enjoy this series so much.
Current RWBY has story, characterization, music, etc. So while this is awesome as a fan work, its just that. Also the ideas behind Monty aren't lost at all, they're being carried forward by his friends, brother, and fans that were inspired by him.
@@CrimsonXE I stopped watching RWBY after the end of Volume 4 or 5. Forgot, but it was when Raven fought Cinder as a Maiden. Everything up to it was terrible and I dropped it because it was absolutely not the same show as Volume 1-3. Hopefully it has improved for you remaining fans.
@@CrimsonXE I'd argue their action and fight scenes don't compare I'm assuming that's what the first comment meant. I love SLVR’s dynamic! Simin’s also different than I expected, but in a good way. I thought he was a calm, serious guy who liked to have his humor every now and then, but it turns out he’s just a huge dust nerd. I love it. Wonderful fight too; I’ll have to rewatch it multiple times to absorb the details, but it was a delight feeling the impact of each hit, seeing more of Simin’s weapons, the first use of rock dust of his, and Obsidius’ constantly shifting and changing weapon. A lot to juggle and a lot to take in, but it’s done super seemlessly in a way that doesn’t overwhelm.

I was surprised to see this in my recommended and I have to say I truly enjoyed this! It has a lot of potential and I hope to see it go as far as possible. Makes you wonder what kind of show RWBY would've been if they kept things low-scale and fun.
I’ve seen all kinds of 3D animation, and you have a whole bunch of potential. I honestly hope one day I can be able to create something similar to your projects
I don't think I've seen choreography that smooth in the official RWBY canon in years. You've gotten so good that at this point they could stand to learn from you. I'm pretty excited to see where this goes.
this was so good!!! I love the old RWBY feel of it with the comedy and the fights! The main fight was amazing; it was so smooth and had clever moves!! Thank you so much for making this - I will come back and watch it whenever I need some beacon fun! I will be there if you release any future episodes! :D
Can I just make one small remark on a detail? The fact that the fire dust greatsword is serrated is so cool, seeing as a greatsword with undulations meant to mimic serration actually existed and was called the flamberge (flame-blade). It might not have been intentional, but it is still awesome to see.
Lets fricking go Mark! You have been improving since the last video, especially the fighting choreography, already looking forward for whats coming next!!!
I kept up for awhile and fell off too and Rooster Teeth has it's own questionable practices but I love seeing fan work like this too! It's awesome some of the stuff the show inspired people to make.
I'm not sure if this is intentional detail, but at 4:24, the reason the fire sword breaks is because if you look back during the clashes Obsidius has been hitting the sword in the same spot over and over
This was so damn good, love the humor and team dynamic, gives me season 1 RWBY vibes a little. And the fight choreography was cool as helll. Simin seems a little bit like an ode to Jaune a little bit? "C'mon!"

he does have a semblance, but it isnt clearly shown in the animations, only really properly explained by the creator - Simin is able to make things more durable when touching them, which is how he makes his fragile dust weapons not break or explode in his hands
@@NovaThornThe creator said Simin doesn't have a semblance where are you getting this information?
They should honestly just greenlight a spin off for you and give you a team with a budget. This was awesome
I seriously have my reservations about "them" touching Mark's work, but I'd love to see him collab with Dillon Goo's team someday.
I dunno, I don't think he would have the creative freedom with "them" if he ended up getting a job there, especially in light of the allegations about the company. But if he did collab with other peeps who made RWBY Teams or just RWBY OCs in general, that would certainly be cool.
Geez lol. I don't know much about rooster teeths situation, I'm just saying this person deserves more success.
@@tavianfloyd6589 You're not wrong about that. His work is similar to Mounty Oum's, and reminds me of both his work and the fights in Season 4. Magnificent. So if he got more success, then it is more than well deserved given the quality of his work.
Better that he does it himself with unofficial funding. Takes longer, yet he can do it how he likes it.
I have been waiting literal years to see what the fourth dust type did, and I love every bit of this animation so much!
those axes looked like just another fire dust construct though. there nothing saying each dust type is limited to one weapon (heck ice we already knew before this could be a sword or a shield.) Edit: ok i must've looked away for a second because i completely missed him pullnig out the earth dust.
I think they mean the earth dust, cuz I’ve only ever seen the first three types in previous videos
This is why I love the RWBY fandom (for the most part), they inspire such creative and amazing OCs and fan animations that leave people breathless.
I love how well you gave Obsidius's sword a feeling of weight. Like he's not just lifting it; he's using its momentum to *swing* it around.
I had no doubt the animation was gonna be top notch. What i didnt expect was the sheer amount of personality you packed into these 7 minutes. Bravo sir, you surpass my expectations once again.
Can't believe I have finally gotten to witness see Simin use the earth dust.
I'm so shocked and happy this was released. I completely forgot about this. I was so into a couple years back
same, but as soon as I saw this I was like time to rewatch every video again from the start. How far his work has come is amazing.
Love how Obsidius’ semblance, weapon choice, and fighting style all blend together to make one momentum-based battle strategy.
What is his semblance anyway?
Obsidius would absolutely make it to Vytal festival finals with what he was packing, greatsword turned into Shield and lance on top of his semblance pretty much would likely allow the dude to easily win most mids of the tournament in a fight, only way I can see some losses is if he has to face Pyhrra, or his teamates cant pull their weight in the 4 on 4 or 2 on 2 match ups and he aint enough to flex the win.
@@eliasochoa8880 i think its something of momentum Acceloration/ energy transfer
As he can use his aura to enhance his movments as well attacks that his him to enhance his own attacks as he takes them
@@eliasochoa8880 there’s a link in the description with Obsidus’ bio, but I think it’s that he can take the active energy from attacks and redirect it as he would like. It’s kind of like Yang and Adam’s but the main difference being that they can store energy and dish it out when they want and he has to immediately redirect it.
@@catherga
There’s clearly a limit to this power. I’m guessing a REAL BIG Hit can cripple Obsidius’ Momentum!
I liked how in the sword fight Simin is pushed back when blocking Obsidius’ larger blade, makes it feel like the weapons have weight to them and in general their moves have impact. I really enjoyed the choreography
It would be fun to go in depth on all the detail in this fight but one thing I love about it in particular is actual back and forths between the two characters without needing to slow the pace of the fight
3:41 in specific is a really neat showing of how the advantage in combat actually flows between the two as opposed to one person dominating the fight, and it happens in just 10 seconds: Simin gets knocked down and recovers, goes on an offensive flurry of attacks after predicting the greatsword's movements which is Obsidius' weakness, and is about to land what would be a critical knockdown but Obsidius effectively uses his semblance to turn that momentum (haha) against him
Stuff like that is really enjoyable to watch because then it isn't just someone showcasing how broken they are, rather it's a combination of using powers effectively and reacting to an opponent
These things are amazing and I truly hope in the future it'll go well!
I'm so glad you're crossing over with other RWBY fun animators like NYON
I'm not, he's much too talented and not tainted by fandom drama like the others. I lost a lot of respect for a lot of RWBY fan creators after they got mad about people's valid complaints about the oversexualized holiday art collabs.
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 Holiday Art Collabs, what?
Your blade-to-blade choreography is still impressive as always, very much worth the wait!
THIS DUST JACKET....
Best thing a RWBY Fan's ever done
This is exactly what RWBY is missing these days. Interesting, creative and well-choreographed fight scenes. Rooster Teeth, hire these people!
Rooster teeth is cancer and sold out to woke ideology instead of good story Monty would be pissed off if he was still alive
They better not dude. Else, we lose this guy too
Dont forget good camera work to match with the fight
Have we been watching the same show?
@@FixTheWi-Fi yeah, the new stuff is choreographed well but it is completely different in spirit
Holy hell is it good to see you post RWBY content after years.
I love how “Cordo” acts like a familiar and not just a construct.
Limited dust resources

I honestly was in disbelief when I got the notification. So hyped for this.

Awesome choreography! So much happened, loved the witch’s apparel and it’s awesome you collabbed! Great work!!
The humor and overall feel of this episode was very close to early RWBY, I loved it.
I just realized a Monster Hunter Charge Blade fits so well into RWBY because of this Video
Four Years later, we return to Mark's beautifully envisioned characters.
That fight between simin and obsidius was fantastic! You could actually see the weight behind every swing with Obsidius's great sword, using the momentum to his advantage! Very nicely done! I'm so glad to see stuff from you again. Your slvr animations are some of the best RWBY fan content I've seen!
RETURN OF THE KIIIING!
HE HAS RETURNED!
And with multiple of crossover no less!
I'M SO HYPED Y'ALL
THIS IS SO COOL MAN , with how RT has handled rwby im so glad there’s still people who care !😊
AHHHHHH this is amazing! The animation, the fights, the banter, the humor. This reminds me of what I loved about RWBY and why I got into it in the first place. Glad to see you and other animators coming together to create this, it’s turned out really god so far!
After 10 years, I have finally found a fan work that rivals Monty's worth my commenting, and I don't say this lightly. Hell yeah!!
The addition of making Simin a dust fanatic makes him probably my favorite character of the 4
Seems like Weiss as the resident dust user of the team. It's a nice touch
Yeah for all importance of Dust it’s really was often overlooked
It feels very fitting for him since his weapon literally is 100% dust. Youd need to really like the stuff to make something like that be 100% of your fighting style

Dude, I’ve been a fan of yours since the first charcoal trailer. The animation and the characters are slicker now it’s amazing to see how well your animation has gotten. I think the feeling Simin has issues with luck, I love your characters and I can’t wait for the next one
Great animation, Mark, and with more new characters, I just can't wait to see the possible outcomes you're about to put in, new semblance, new location, new plots and more.
Not gonna lie this has a lot of the things that I miss from the older RWBY series. Really well done animation and VA.
When the fan stuff has more oomph than the original series, ya know something is up.
I was literally thinking about the SLVR trailer the other day after the recent Season 9 finale, and thinking "Oh yeah, I hope there's more of that to come!"
And within 24 hours, we see a new release, and I'm very happy
I am absolutely ecstatic to see your incredible fight choreography back at it again.
OHMYGOD, they need to make this a series. This is so cool and so good. I'm loving the characters already!

It's nice to see so many people be so greatly inspired by Monty even a decade after his passing

That greatsword wielding was satisfying af, really well done

camera work, pacing, weight, choreography EVERYTHING is perfect just like i remembered you're a legend mark !!!!!
I don't think I've seen choreography that smooth in the official RWBY canon in years. You've gotten so good that at this point they could stand to learn from you. I'm pretty excited to see where this goes.
In any point where Team NYON's Nero would be featured in this miniseries, I'd like to hear him scream at least once.
this was so good!!! I love the old RWBY feel of it with the comedy and the fights! The main fight was amazing; it was so smooth and had clever moves!! The characters' animations and dialog made them all feel real and entertaining to watch, even when they're just chatting with each other! This was so refreshing!!!
I’m no longer interested in RWBY Canon, but I’m ALWAYS down for awesome fan-made shit like this, that fight was intense

I kept up for awhile and fell off too and Rooster Teeth has it's own questionable practices but I love seeing fan work like this too! It's awesome some of the stuff the show inspired people to make.
They do seem to fill the world of Remnant more than the actual show which is strange.
@@LumenFox777 Vol 9 was kind of a breath of fresh hair, but the missed potential going forward is just too much to bear, Vol. 10 wont be as great now.
"C'mon!"
