    I got this massive thing delivered a couple weeks ago. I've never played tainted grail. Etherfields is one of my favorite games and this looked right up my alley.

    Thank you Paul!!! I am so looking forward to getting this game still waiting for it. Always a pleasure to watch. Thanks or the in-depth explanations. Thanks for all the work you do.

    An excellent playthrough. You have inspired me to get my original Tainted Grail back to the table after a break of around 20 months! Your explanation of the combat mechanics was the best that I have seen and cleared up some issues for me, that probably led to some of my frustration with the game. Although I had shelved the original, I had still backed Kings of Ruin because I love the aesthetics and really want to feel the same about the game. You may well have helped me to achieve this😊

    Can't wait to play this. Likely mid to late April when we start but that gives time for the voice app, and the forums to fill up with any rules clarifications and typos to come to light, hopefully have some insight into campaign difficulty by then.
    Played most of iss vanguard as 4 players. We're near the end, its juat been hard to meet up to finish it. One of our group was losing love for the game, but I have really enjoyed it. Only issue i had which is common in campaign games is the difficult/power curve. We played iss vanguard with the deadly space harder difficulty rules but they didn't really make it harder. The game starts challenging but by 1/3 of the way through the campaign we were over powered, with far too much equipment unlocked. I think equipment should have unlocked slower, but the biggest change would be that when you rank up crewmember, you also spend the success tokens. We had maxed out on success tokens with no further use of them. This one change could really flatten the power curve and keep the game challenging and interesting.
    We had similar issues with sleeping gods. Awesome game, played on difficult. Started off challenging but too early we had become overpowered. I would like in campaign games that the challenge remains but complexity and player choice increases with unlocked abilities.
    So all that said, I've not played a tainted grail game before, but currently intending to play with all the hard difficulty rules. Will play cautiously, but i feel it makes the gameplay more meaningful. If it becomes game over, we can restart the campaign and try again. Will get more game out of it that way.
    Has anyone played tainted grail with the hard difficulty rules?

    Not long to go now until this arrives, I have struggled to find games that I am really engaged with the story but heard nothing but the best about the two Tainted Grail games. I really like the look of combat/diplomacy checks doing something very different to dice chucking.

    Love the way the first minute a small rat comes along, you encourage the other guys to fight and then it's "cya suckers" 😂 "hopefully one of you guys will be able to kill it" 🤣🤣🤣

      I'm scared of rats!
      But also, I wanted to show off as much of the game mechanisms as I could. So this was a good example of escaping from combat.

    Seems like very cool game! I really like a fact you can play as a team or split on any moment.

      One the best bits. I played Chapter 1 again today with Mrs. Rules, and we split up for most of the session, just because we wanted to do different things.

      one quick question ❔: which game you prefer TG King of Ruin or Agemonia? thank you

    So I might've missed it (i didn't watch the full 3h through completely), but when it comes to the event deck(s) - Random events are shuffled, but the Chapter quests should remain separate, right? So the start-of-day action of drawing a new event card only means replacing the current random event, not drawing from a pile of chapters+randoms shuffled together? Makes the most sense to me, but the rules are not clear on this and other text is very ambiguous.
    I haven't started playing so don't really want to read chapter cards ahead to see if it would make sense to shuffle them into one event deck, so It'd be awesome to hear how you guys handled the daily event draw each day!

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 місяці тому +1

      At the start of the day, you draw the top card from your CURRENT event deck - whatever that is.
      At the start of a chapter, your event deck should just be the specific chapter cards in order, but at some point you will be instructed to add more random events in. You NEVER draw specific chapter cards randomly as the story wouldn't then work.
      It sounds like you may have missed reading the front and back of the Chapter 1 setup card which tells you specifically how to make your event deck.
      You absolutely do not shuffle them and draw them at random :)

    • @tanklike4413
      @tanklike4413 3 місяці тому

      @@GamingRulesVideos Thanks for confirming they aren't shuffled and drawn at random, that's good to hear haha. But the front and back of Chapter 1 card mentions both setting up the chapter cards in order (part 7 on bottom) AND shuffling the random event deck, hence my confusion. Where does this shuffled random event deck go if it is separate from the chapter deck? And if every day draws a new part of the chapter, it seems more like the chapters aren't in actual parts because I doubt I'll achieve part 1 quest in day 1, meaning i'll get overloaded with all quests simultaneously if I just draw the next quest every morning, know what I'm saying? (As a noob scared of this since it sounds wrong i mean lol. I would assume completing chapter 1 part 1 results in a story/reading/thing that lets you draw part 2 card, not just arbitrarily progressing parts because a day passes).
      So I draw a new chapter every day from the chapter event deck, or a random event from the random event deck since the 2 are separate?

    • @GamingRulesVideos
      @GamingRulesVideos  3 місяці тому +2

      @@tanklike4413 you shuffle the random events deck but don’t do anything with it until instructed.
      So, start of the day, you will draw the top card of your active event deck. I.E., chapter 1, part 1.
      Then, on day 2, you will draw the next card. Chapter 1, part 2.
      And so on. Until something tells you to do something else.
      You do not draw cards from the random event deck until told to do so.
