You can see the difference between the flower types from their idle animation
At the last secret (secret 1) I think the idea was that the timing isn't hard coded but you just need each interval to be shorter than the last.
i thought that (but didn't try it) thought the gaps between them were not strictly lower (gap 3-4 looks larger than gap 2-3)

I think in the last jump you were supposed to jump to the elevated platform so your next jump would be really short
