I bought this unit A2A its the best I ever buy, love the Dolby Atmos system...crispy sound and 4k pass through its the most clear filtering for screen. I bought with AE109 speakers system + Earthquake Atmos Speaker + 12 inch Subwoofer with my 5.1.2 system home theater I love to hear the Audiophile music + classical music at night....its so peaceful to hear "The Best Of Yao Si Ting" and "Emi Fujita" songs. I recommend others to buy for who is affordable.- from Malaysia

Hi Dave, thanks for the video. I also bought the RX-A2A and use it with Klipsch RP-8000F speakers and RP-600C center channel. I have some older NHT Superzero I used for surround and really love the sound for both Pure 2 Channel Music as well as 5.1.2 home theater. I do have an NHT SW3P subwoofer but only use it for home theater, as I find the RP-8000F have plenty of low end for music listening. I do not have a dedicated home theater room, we use our den for TV and music listening. I tried a Sony and Denon receivers before deciding on the Yamaha and am very pleased with my decision. Owned Yamaha and wanted to upgrade to another Yamaha receiver. Wanted to run 5.1.4 but the rx a6a was 3k+. Denon 3700h and marantz sr6015 both available for under 2k sgd. Eventually decided on the marantz. Yamaha are making it difficult for themselves with their premium pricing plus upcoming features awaiting updates already available on competitors systems. O well, maybe next generation.

🤗 CONGRATS DAVE …ON YOUR CHOICE 😎 I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT WHAT MANY SAY ABOUT YAMAHA 😉 Yamaha has been doing surroundsound measurements and pioneered it back in the 80s I believe and I’ve been using their products since then and recently got my fourth Yamaha a RXV 3080😍😍 i’ve passed the others on to friends and family😊 You did not mention it in the video but make sure when you get your set up to use the Y PAO 👍 It sounds like we have similar taste in sound quality and I have a large room 14’ x 22 x 9’ ceiling and I am using only for speakers in filling the room with all the details you’re talking about🤗🤗 So let me know how it turns out with your system

Greetings. I think we all learned from experience. My first receiver was the Yamaha RXV-5xx. Later I upgraded to a Denon 3xxx series, it was 2nd or 3rd from the top flagship. I found that the difference is in the raw sound quality over the lower budget model. It is more apparent when listening to music.

I am also using an old Polk subwoofer (for now). I would say I am not very happy with the volume output of Yamaha , with or without YPAO settings ON. would be great if you can help me with some tips on getting volume especially dialogues up. thanks in advance
Thanks for dropping by. The dialogue on my system is excellent, even whisper can be heard clearly. You need to get a good center speaker. Mine is a PMC, small speaker but with powerful bass and super clear sound.

I LOVED SINGAPORE! Been there twice, in May 1989 and again in 1990. almost moved there back then. I knew a couple who lived there, whom I stayed with both times. I remember the RAFFLES center; I sang karaoke -one song "NEW YORK, NY" - before leaving the last day for flight, at the main building, in the mall. I remember the lion spouting water down by the water. I LOVE SINGAPORE still. I HAVE YAMAHA receiver; first one lasted 19 years. This other receiver, which purchased in June 2015 , got from amazon, works well per se, but not totally satisfied. Everytime I turn off, when turn receiver (back) ON, the volume IS BLASTING! The sound DOES NOT stay at the same volume level, like my first receiver.

What is more interesting between the A2 and the A4 is...the A4 weighs about 15 pounds more than the A2. That is telling me the power supply must be much more robust. What else could add that much more weight to a very similar model A2. Also, the extra HDMI ports on the A4 must make the price higher too. The A2 currently is about $649 and the A4 is $1,199 in the USA. Big price difference but the comparison in features don't say much except that the transfer rate is much more for 4k. A4 has a better "chip" to transfer data for true 4k/8k.
U have a extra HDMI Output, yes true but do u use it also ?! I just need 1 and i prefer the DAC of the A2A over the new in the A4A. Powerwise 100 Watts are enough to Power some good Speakers. The 10 Watt more on the A4A u wont really notice only if u drive your Volume so high that the neigbours wants to kill u ! The A2A Supports just like every other Avantage Model 4k120Hz and 8k60 Hz so your point u telling is nonesens !!!! Also I rather invest in good speakers before paying nearly double the price for AV Receiver.

Surely the 10 watt extra power doesn't reflect that. Some folks are claiming the same with the A2 and the V6 however, Yamaha says the A2 has much better sound. Those A and V units from Yamaha were developed years ago without any upgrades since so today's purchases are as good as those from 5 years back minus the firmware updates.
I bought the Polk R 200s and was about to get the Yamaha RXA4A then I saw your video. Do u think the RXA4A will sound noticeable different from the rxa2a?

Hi , the processing can handle 9 channels but the power amp can only supply 7 , consisting 2 fronts, 1 center, 2 rears plus 2 heights. With an external amp you can add another 2 channels.

Did you consider the rx -v6a at all? How would it compare considering they both the same specs. I read rxa2a uses better internal components, but does that translate to better sound and performance?

Hi Dave help... I have a RXA3080... My set up is 5.1. 2.. Front presence. I ran the ypao. I wanted to re run the ypao as I was not happy with the result.. When I did, the set displayed as 11 speakers... When I set it to 7 speakers... The Ypao excluded my sub... Need your expertise. Tks

Is your sub on auto-on, and can can you hear it when yoao does the first step? If not, repeat that before you go into the measurements. That's what I need to do on my older Yamaha.

Hi thank you. Usually Av receiver will have the volume level goes back to the safety preset level. And yes Yamaha is very reliable.

The A4 is the same as A2, both 7 speakers.

7 in total. 5 +2 . The 2 can be surround back or height speakers.
