U.S Open champion, multiple Wimbledon finalist, an end of year number one (only 17 men have held an end of year #1), plus 5 ATP masters titles, with over 600 career wins (only 25 men have achieved over 600 career wins). Roddick accomplished this while competing against Hewitt, Ferrero, Safin, Nalbandian, Moya, Nadal but also a prime Roger Federer. Very underrated player
Federer is my favorite player in terms of style of play but Roddick was a great competitor and charismatic player, loved watching and cheering for him!
Sounds about right. Wimbledon 2003 Wimbledon 2004 Wimbledon 2005 US Open 2006 AO 2007 Wimbledon 2009 Maybe even USO 2007, but I doubt it because Djoker played a solid match in the final
(Hi Smit Stuff) !!!!!! Of course, Andy, would have won many Grand slams, had it not been for Federer in the way.!!!!!!!! Remember Wimbledon final 2009?????? he was just around the corner to lift the Trophy, and yet, having been my TENNIS HERO, he was a super good Player!!!!!!!!!! I think, he retired at the right time ........ but miss him a lot.......!!!!!!!!!
Roddick had a great career. I'm a Fed fan but the guy worked so hard and achieved a lot. Especially when you consider he had to face prime Federer, Nadal and Djokovic throughout his career. But the '09 Wimbledon final is one of the all time greats.
ANDY! What a freaking gamer! We loved watching Andy slug it out with the best in the world. He always gave 100%. You can just tell by watching Andy he could play baseball, basketball, and maybe even a little tight end, all at a high level if he wanted.
Underrated hustler regarding baseline rallies and grinding it out - could probably have won a couple more big titles had he stuck to his original trade: a more aggressive game.
@@dtothee8730 His FH was great until about 2005, when he decided to abandon aggression and resort to spinny grinding. Bad decision IMO. (as a junior, he was a grinder, and his aggressive baseline game of 03-04 was not natural).
People try to say that Federer played in a weak era. No, Roddick was a 3-5 slam winner without Federer around. He could beat anybody on tour, EXCEPT Fed, and that was mostly a mental thing. 04 and 09 Wimbledon prove that. Roddick's biggest mistake was trying to become a baseline grinder, his best chance was always to flatten and rip the forehand.
@@NamTran-xc2ip Might want to check your facts before posting. He made the semis four times, twice at the French and twice at the US open. He lost a 5 set war to a cheater in his first semi, he lost the other three to Federer.
I mean he was in the top ten for ten straight years but I feel you. Without Roger he would of had 5-10 slams while potentially retiring at a later age. Roger definitely whitened his hair as well as made him go bald. I loved Roddick so much. We have yet to see that amount of consistent firepower on serve. From anyone
Its amazing how Roddick got to #1. His backhand was non existent, he only had a huge forehand every now and then, and he was playing guys like Nalbandian and Federer whose strokes were as smooth as butter. And yet this guy climbed his way to #1 with his forehand and serve, it's amazing and I admire the drive and grit he had.
His backhand was consistent enough to get in, but definitely not always a kill-shot. What do you think about Steve Johnson or Ivo Karlovic’s backhand? Lol
I am crazy for tennis because Roddick broke the fast serve speed in the match against Paradorn Srichaphan in Queens Club 2004, really appreciate this legend lead me into tennis, he really deserve wimbledon 2009. Please visit Taiwan for exhibition game.
THANK YOU, ANDY! Had he been born in another era he would have won so many more tournaments. Give me him or Hewitt over any "next gen" bullshit any time!
One of the most underrated male tennis players of all time, he had grace, style, technique, consistency and constancy. He also had a bit of rebellion which made him more entertaining to watch (Even though I love the coolness of Pete Sampras and 2010s Federer).
Roddick has more charisma than Federer , Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic combine. They maybe better players than him but when it comes to being an entertainer on and off court, Roddick is on another level.
Andy roddrick was playing in the decade of monsters ... otherwise should have won the titles .... technically very very sound hardworking plus ... sareena never lost .. i never saw her loosing.. maybe very tough to compete against .... one hell of a sports lady she iZ ❤
Roddick was my favourite while growing up. He was a very agile mover for that huge frame, and looked passionate about the game. He was extremely talented but didnt unfortunately utilize his skills to the full. Would have been right up there with FedEx Rafa & Joko !
I didn't realise till the Memphis 2011 final against Raonic when his hat fell off on the amazing last point where he hit the diving forehand winner. I was like oh shit what a shot and then OH SHIT HE IS FUCKEN BALDING!
I know it's easier said than done, but he would have done MUCH better against top players if he ran through his approach shots instead of: setting up, hitting, then running to the net.

🔫 Pete is the 🐐
All credit to him, he made the absolute most of what he had, despite some of the limitations in his game.
HA, HA. Mr One and Done didn't pan out like Sampras predicted, huh!
My favorite player, I miss him so much. I remember his Wimbledon final 10 years ago. So sad for him, he deserves it.
Was that te final Against Federer?
Because that’s one of my favourite Wimbledon finals !!!
my favorite player, too
Under appreciated player in my opinion 💖😭😭💖
thank you erica for your comment
A LOT of fan loves him.
Under appreciated only by Nadal and Djokovic fans to demean slam wins of Federer.
Thx for a great tribute he was my fav player
My favorite player since I was a child, my inspiration, tennis it's not the same without him. 🇦🇷🇺🇸

Love and miss Andy's charisma and energy
If Federer didn’t exist, this guy would have 4-5 slams at least
Smite Stuff He lost 4 GS finals against Fed so it definitely a big what-if. I remember that 09 Wimbledon final....

gumbo I read somewhere that it was causing him injuries and he would have had a shorter career if he didn’t switch to that style
I knew that dive vs Raonic would be the last one, it was a championship point 👏👌
Wonderful tribute to a terrific player. I wonder how his career accomplishments would have been even better had the courts not been slowed down.
You have to watch Roddick / Kohlschreiber (Australian Open 2008)

Definitely
In fairness, there are few as entertaining as him in any sport really.
Well said.
He's funnier, but he doesn't have more charisma than Federer and Nadal.
Gabriel Vergara San Martín . Why is Djokovic so hated by you lot ?
Una maravilla....espectacular
3:14 - Federer backhand flick
The one-handed winner yes sir 👏
I LOVED you Andy Roddick
Prime Roddick would absolutely destroy today’s ATP
Great set of points.
Describe Roddick in one word: Rocket

Perfect present for the 36 yr old legend!! Late happy birthday to A-ROD

Effing AMAZING!!
If only Roddick got past Hewitt in that AO 05 semi, I reckon it would have been slam no.2 for Andy
alex Dao Beating peak Safin? Doubt it.
What's most amazing is for how long Andy hid the fact that he was balding
All the players who have started balding have started to wear caps. For example Gilles Muller, Rajeev Ram etc
And still, Rafa wears a head band
And that’s what you took away from this video 🤦🏼♂️
I remember the first time I heard of hats
I didn't realise till the Memphis 2011 final against Raonic when his hat fell off on the amazing last point where he hit the diving forehand winner. I was like oh shit what a shot and then OH SHIT HE IS FUCKEN BALDING!

Just noticed my two favourite players of all time are called Andy, Roddick & Murray.
Dieser letzte Punkt ist einfach Wahnsinn! Schade das Roddick nicht noch ein paar Jährchen an seine Karriere dran gehangen hat!

I miss him so much :c
Wonderful to watch him play Fed and Nadal.
I'm watching him now on family feud!
@:35 he actually goes over the net, which is harder to do on that shot imo.
Roddick was awesome 😎
ロディックとヒューイットは今でも僕のヒーローだ!
I miss A-ROD .
I was so heartbroken when he lost that epic Wimbledon final against Fed.
Not only his serve but his ground stroke was very competitive until he forget to do it.
Don't remember him having a pretty good slice. Great player indeed.
that work rate is immense fuckkk
Miss Roddick on the tour
last one was special
BEST...

If Roddick just got on tour in the mid to late 2010s, he would have had way better results.
Beast!!!
Reebok Roddick > Lacoste Roddick
Rest in Peace.
Why?
He didn't die wtf😂
Also what happened to his forehand, in 03-05, it was his bank shot, Connors came along and I got loopy and weak ever since
It wasn't Connors who did the damage; it was Goldfine. He turned Roddick into a pusher and Andy was never the same since
@@CK-iv1lq I agree.

I know it's easier said than done, but he would have done MUCH better against top players if he ran through his approach shots instead of: setting up, hitting, then running to the net.
Fun fact: Andy has winning record against Novaxx.
Merci de l’info je savais pas.
If somebody made his backhand a weapon and made him volley more at a young age, I dont know how he could've been stopped
Roddick, Safin, Hewit, were players who attacked well but defended poorly That's why they fell against federer
Best!
Great player. Wrong string tension.
Grit and sandpaper
All serve and no play makes Andy a one slam wonder.
@James Goodnight as you sit behind your computer saying shit you have no way of knowing to be true
I forgot how good Roddick was.
He is overrated 1 slam isnt even on Murray's level

How is this guy weak era?
Why did Federer leave the ball at 3.38?
Philip Lee thought was out?
Roddick was the nick kyrgios of his era❤️🙏🏻

so Steve Stifler can play tennis...
At least 1 Wimbledon
His only fault is he was born in Roger's era
Roger robbed him of 3 Wimbledon and 2 US Open so he would have 5 more Grand Slams. The same can be said for Andy Murray.
