Spencer....Guntersville doesn't get muddy often. Back in 1982 we had a tremendous flood and honeycomb which is above where you are fishing in this video was boiling red mud. We have have had some runoff in past years buts unique about Guntereville is it doesn't stay muddy long. Where you are fishing is known for big blues and flathead. You need to come back in the summer. Whole different ball game. Welcome to Alabama and Lake Guntereville. A lot of people doent realize how pretty and deep Guntersville it. If you ever get a chance try fishing Smith Lake which is south of Guntersville. Shallow water in that lake is 90 feet. I have 147 in that lake and I think it's deeper in certain areas. About the deepest water in Guntersville is where you are at in this video. Hope your enjoy your stay.
TOF.....this part of Guntereville is known for big blues. Not enough wood in this area to hold a large concentration of flathead. With that said....I have caught some good flat head on the lower end of Guntersville which is where Spencer is fishing in this video. In my experience it's about 2-10 ratio meaning for every 2 flathead you catch you will catch 10 blues. Biggest flathead I ever caught on lower end was 44 pounds. The big boys are in tbe elk river which is the section of lake below Guntersville lake. A lot of people don't know that the Tennessee River in Alabama is divided up into 4 main bodies of water. These sections are separated by dams. Starting from east to west you Gumtersville, Wheeler, Wilson and Pickwick. These areas are very dynamic and on all 4 bodies of water, the fish relate to current. Where I use to target trophy flathead was on Wheeler lake. The Elk river dumps into the Tennessee River. Elk river is basically fed by Tim's Ford lake which is in Tennessee. What makes the Elk so good for flathead is the wood. Just about ever bend and pocket of the Elk river has log jams in shallow water and deep. My biggest flathead to date was caught in the Elk river a d it was 71 pounds. I don't catfish anymore due to back issues. Fighting trophy cats now would put me in the hospital. I have commented in tbe past to Spencer he need to fish the Elk if he wants to see a truly massive flathead. When I targeted them I used big live bluegill and 1.5 pound crappie. Flatheads love crappie...trust me on that one! Hope I didn't bore you on the makeup of the river Spencer is fishing. In my opinion Guntersville lake is one of the prettiest lakes in the country. Very clean water as well. Heck of a crappie lake as well.
@@alexrawleigh3167 no, I enjoy it. Sounds like you’ve had a lot of success fishing. I’ve heard about Elk river before. I fish on the brazos river in Texas, very small river. Very few log jams or heavy brush, so the big rocks hold a lot of flatheads. You have my record beat for flathead. 55 is my biggest to date, on a trot line tho. You just need to supervise and let someone else strain their back lol. Win/win
So good to see some less muddy water in your future. All your cat fishing is appreciated from northern Ontario Canada where the tiniest bullhead is a trophy and horrifying to our resident fish. Love your humility.
Spencer as always love your videos been watching for a long time. Great to see these fish caught but gotta tell you. I miss the banter between you and Ryan and Sam and the old days of kayak camping.
Spencer once again you've presented me with a wonderful video. This video had some stunning views, I love the South never been there though. Ya caught some really nice hogs . Thanks for all you do in making these great videos that I so love to watch . God bless you and yours, and please stay safe.😊😊
another great video man. im glad to hear about you weighing more fish. i never questioned you on it because its your video and your decision not to, but i do say i wish i knew on alot of your vids. either way im still watching. just keep dragging those big dogs to the boat.
That looks like a hell of a day for fishing, love seeing that fog rolling around and those sheer cliffs remind me of fishing some places back in Mo. Here I am pheasant hunting all week in 8-10 inches of snow like a ding dong lol.
Spencer my brother and I just relocated to Houston Missouri we are avid fisherman. We moved from Seattle where we are used to catching fish of the Salmonoid species. Also Sturgeon fished a bit there. We started watching you on UA-cam and enjoy your videos. I was wondering if you have ever had a drawing or chances to win a trip fishing with you on your channel. If not I'm very interested in a guided trip will you send me some info on your rates or where to go to set something up with you. We are just a couple good ol boys who have just hit retirement age and retired. We think a trip with you would be great. Anyways thanks for listening Mark..
Whoa! Not a cardoshermen. I enjoy your videos because I like fishing in general and your sense of humor is as great as it gets. My question is, what the hell was that plastic thing that said had your username on it?! The neon green plastic board thingie?!
Awesome video Spencer. Funny you telling the weight. I like it tho sometimes but you not telling the weight has helped me just by looking. I swear I was going to respond, nice 40 pounder Spencer. Then you shocked me giving the weight.lol. Great videos and lately with a great view of the area.
Fun trip! That is beautiful country you are fishing! Can you share what state you are in? I'm excited you are going to weigh fish more often. Without your experience, I'm unable to guess. The only critique I've ever had here is not weighing the fish ever! 😉😉 Great video and presentation. Your making me long for the water!😊😊 God bless all here!
You mentioned the depth you were fishing in. Do you have two depth finders? What is the device on the right rear of your boat that says LOWRANCE? It looks like it has a cover over it. I never see you use it.
I had a Dad who loved catching channel cats out of the creeks and rivers in Alabama. He migrated to Cleveland and brought that love for the channel cat with him. It definitely rubbed off on me. How did you turn to catching big cats .
You just proved again what my grandpa always told me. Rod holders catch more fish🤯. Happy holidays my friend. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏻
When fishing from the bank should the drag be set light, medium, or tight? I think I might have been setting it too light? Flatheads & Channels only in Michigan.
I want mine around 10 - 15 lbs most of the time. Test it on a scale until you have a good feel for what that's like. After a while you'll get it set right without a scale.
Buddy I always wanna know the weight on some of the bigs you catch cause I'm trying to guess how big they are too lol. I'd definitely appreciate knowing a few weights of a few bigs every now and then that's for sure
You got your new boat good for you Spence, i guess you're going to have to read my comment in fishing with the greatest catfish man you know, wood twin Skip Jack Love bass fishing Alabama, never tried catfish, but I've had some excellent bass fishing there in 80's and 90's Brother moved South Carolina fishes Santee Cooper now. Hahaha. Best catfishing out there. Don't know what you are looking for, bikinis? Last thing I want is to see Spencer in a bikini 😂. Seriously tho, hope you find a channel you like.

I always love hearing about different bodies of water. The spot Spencer is fishing at looks like flathead heaven.

I have done a few spectating guide trips. Clients didn't seem to mind! It's even tough for throwing a cast net these days but I still limp through it!

No one should call your videos boring. They are great fun and the highlight of my day. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe.

It’s cool to find some deep water fish. Also, it’s not a bad idea to weight the big ones.
Great video, Spencer!
Gorgeous Day!
Gotta say your Cats look a lot healthier than the one's down the bottom of the Mississippi
Watching your videos is neat. Keep up the great fishing.
Fiberglass=more fun. Great video as always. Love watching the catfish videos. Being from WA state one thing I wish we had more access to.
Thank you for the weight. Not for all fish but the big ones from time to time is good for the viewer 👍🏻👍🏻
More great variety. Thanks man!! Also would be interested in weights of your fish if you decide to do that on camera more often.
That looks like a hell of a day for fishing, love seeing that fog rolling around and those sheer cliffs remind me of fishing some places back in Mo. Here I am pheasant hunting all week in 8-10 inches of snow like a ding dong lol.
You're gonna be sleeping good every night. I bet your dogs are in good shape too. Thanks for always watching man!

If you ain’t losing $30 in sinkers you ain’t tryin. Lmao. I thought losing $5 of sinkers in a day was tryin. Your awesome.
Thanks!
Thank you dude!
Need try out the okuma battle cat rods .. great rod to try out
Yeah id love to have a pair of them rods an reels
Awesome awesome my friend 🙏😎
I saw ya fishing last video or so with those purty green thingamajigs.. what are they, jist big huge bobbers???
Is that the middle version of that net? I have the same whisker seeker net and I swear mine looks bigger. Maybe its the camera.
You just proved again what my grandpa always told me. Rod holders catch more fish🤯. Happy holidays my friend. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏻
He is a wise man. Happy holidays to you too sir. Thanks as always!
Where's Skip? Are you in Tennessee? I do best just drop lining and suspending bates about 2 or 3 feet off bottom.
show how you rig planer boards please... i just don't understand them for some reason
Well, it looks like the catfish test had way better results than the raccoon test well done, sir.

Buddy I always wanna know the weight on some of the bigs you catch cause I'm trying to guess how big they are too lol. I'd definitely appreciate knowing a few weights of a few bigs every now and then that's for sure
Did ya cast the bait off at 8:06 mark???
You got your new boat good for you Spence, i guess you're going to have to read my comment in fishing with the greatest catfish man you know, wood twin Skip Jack
Love bass fishing Alabama, never tried catfish, but I've had some excellent bass fishing there in 80's and 90's
Brother moved South Carolina fishes Santee Cooper now.
I don't think he likes it as good as Lk fork or other n Texas lakes.
Says its like lk Caddo full of Cypress trees and not very deep.
But loves deer hunting there says deer everywhere like Texas but like Alabama kill deer daily and season 3 months long.
PS
Fishing lk Lewisville hooked little crappie on 1/2 oz rattle trap and about 10 ft from boat I had him skimming the water and big hybrid striper swallowed him and trap took 10 minutes get 12 lb hybrid striper on 12 lb test 7' buggy whip chased it with trolling motor just to keep up .
😂 I like to party and I like my catfish to party.
tennessee river ?
What brand reels are you using I keep trying to eyeball them
These were Diawa Lexa LC400. I'm gonna start working in some Piscifun Allioz 400 too.
Yes! Please weigh more. Thank you.
Nice Feesh ,c'mon baseball
Wonky trolling motor,lol.
The time you're looking for is 13:35
HeeeeeeyyyyyyyyBauer! 👑🎣👑🎣👑🎣👍🏾💯✨🤗❤️
I like weighing fish and like when people do for videos but most people don’t weigh them properly which sucks
I don't know what state you are fishing in but I live in oregon, one rod , you have to pay for a second one. that is all you get!
In Iowa you get 2 rods and you have to pay for the third. Down here its unlimited.
"30$ worth of sinkers" is how you know you're watching a fisherman. We'd all gladly pay 4x that for something worth talking about for the next year 😊
Haha that's the reason I make sure I have a short memory on how much money I spend on hooks and weights. Thanks for watching man.
I lack glass rods for casting really light baits, trout fishing especially and they're easier on crappies' mouths
I don't do much of that kind of fishing, but it definitely makes sense to me. I'm gonna try and do more crappie fishing though.
For those fish you were catching her awful fat. Nice and healthy looks like. Enjoy your videos keep them coming.
Keep baits in the water , and do not grow a stache that makes u look like josh at Pig Patrol , lol.
Spencer at what depth do you start to worry about barometric issues with fish. Please weigh them and at least tell us what state you’re in.
Al
With catfish it hasn't been much of an issue. I burp them when they come out of water over 40 feet or so. I don't name where I'm fishing.
Couldn't even see your first fish. Camera awareness!
Hope all you RIVER RATS 🐀 had an awesome Christmas 🤘
What happened to Woody
Jealous!
Every color is 10 feet
Fat and vocal. Just how my ex describes me
Sorry I only watch fisherman that catch an cook..
You don't need to apologize to me.
Sorry Spencer. Your videos are all alike and boring.
Hahaha. Best catfishing out there. Don't know what you are looking for, bikinis? Last thing I want is to see Spencer in a bikini 😂. Seriously tho, hope you find a channel you like.
You usually have lots of kind things to say, which I appreciated. If you're having a rough time, I hope you get it figured out.
