R2 is my favorite droid of all time. I have the Sphero R2-D2 and the Disney store version, but I wish I could get the bigger Hasbro R2 interactive droid, but they have been discontinued. Leftover ones on eBay and Amazon are insanely priced.
I wish Hasbro one come out something like the one from the early 2000s before the 2010 mark. Because I still have that r2 Still works but sadly I don’t have the original box anymore

I did a quick search on the apple App Store and didn’t see anything. It would most likely be the same for Google play as well. That is the only drawback to app controlled droids. I have a Sphero R2 D2 and a BB-8 and the app for these droids is no longer supported in either App Store. Luckily, I have the app on my old I-pad mini and I-Phone 10R. I think I have it backed up in the cloud, so I may be able to download it to a new phone. This experience has led me to avoid any more droids controlled solely by an app.
now that the app is no longer available, i guess you can download the apk from somewhere, but otherwise it would render the smart app controlled one obsolete. what about the voice controlled one?
You CAN get the original app but it has lost the AR tour function of the millennium falcon & also can't use the watch with me function for the movies but the original app has way more than the sphero edu app. I recently got a sphero r2 with the original app (installed as apk) & it has a load of emotes that the edu app doesn't have for him

It odd, the bigger the droid, the less accurate the detail. You would think it would be the opposite? The biggest issue I have with the largest one is the repetition of phrases... repeating everything 3 times is annoying! There have been so many releases recently, it's nice to have someone go over all the details in the variants. I enjoyed the review!

I have the sphero R2D2 and i love it it does alot more stuff in my opinion it talks to my bb8 and both interact i can do programs on edu and i can also use the force band to control him and he is the best droid i will aquire all so i can have each droid as all will talk to each other

I bought the Jakks Pacific R2 and it really is a load of bollocks and a waste of money as he doesn’t really do much. I was really angry as couldn’t take it back. Don’t buy it you have been warned.

Danny Rumbles get the build your own r2d2 by deagostini. Takes two years to complete but it's so much better than any other options

Yup, without the app it is a paper weight for sure. The voice controlled one still works…gave it to my nephew.
