This is possibly the worst thing McFarlane has released all year. Kong's lack of articulation is unforgivable for $70, especially with other manufacturers making giant-size fully articulated ape figures that cost less than this set.
It comes down to rights. Other manufacturers have the rights to specific scales and articulation schemes. Hence why this is 12” and less articulated than the playmates or any other 12” version.
@@BoogSReviewsYou're probably right. But in cases like this, I say just don't make it if you can't make it excellent. Very similar to that McFarlane joke of a joker set. Never should have been made.
I just saw it today at gamestop…once i saw kong didnt have elbow and knee movement i said nope not for me…specifically not for 70.00… maybe and just maybe for 45.00
$20 for the standard mcfarlane batman, so $50 for a barely articulated mini batman and a barely articulated giant gorilla. What a scam mcfarlane is pulling with these!
I'm impressed that they did an alternate head for the Kong and its a pretty nice sculpt, but I don't see myself buying this one at it's standard retail price.
I really don’t care about hush Batman or page puncher Batman since I already have those, but that Kong is a must have. Could’ve had more articulation, but as long as it looks cool, which it does, I don’t mind. I hope at some point McFarlane toys makes movie maniacs statues of Kong and Godzilla. I think that would be cool.
Kyle - I know I am the minority here but your video on the Kong VS Batman 2 pack talked me into it and I personally think that Kong is better than any of the NECA kongs visually. It really just captures the essence of Kong even with the bad leg articulation. Thanks for reviewing it and I am thrilled I got it. (Wish it was a bit cheaper but it is what it is)
It's remarkable to think in 2025 there are people out there that continue to allow these toy companies to fleece the collectors. You think a solid piece of plastic "captures the essence of Kong"? That's ridiculous. Don't encourage these people.
I got the Lanard 18” Kong a few years back at a flea market for $8. Any McFarlane Batman fits in its hand. So waiting for deep discount on this. Also the Lanard Kong has elbow articulation.
I was looking forward to this release but after seeing your review, I am disappointed as well with Kongs articulation. For that price point it will end up being a pass for me
You can see from some of these comments that people have a Pavlovian response to this set. It's unacceptable to have a brick of a Kong figure in a $70 set. You people go ahead and continue to reward these companies for sub par releases. You have no right to complain about anything from this point forward If you're willing to accept this.
@DomitriCervantes Another great option is the lanard kong. 18" tall and has more articulation than this one for half the price (neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, nothing below the waist).
This would have been better off with Kong and a few 3.75 in figures of Justice League members. The 7in rerelease of Hush Batman is just dumb. And I never criticize McFarlane. Easy pass for me.
Never liked Mcfarlane (I saw it as cheap NECA imitation), until I discovered Movie Maniacs, I got: T-1000, Sissorhands and The Fly. Nice review, by the way.
AWESOME REVIEW !!! hahahahahahaaaa , Hawk and Animal , of WWE , are not the Legion Of Doom , from DC Comics ! DC had the Legion Of Doom , before WWE !! hahahahahahahaaa !!
I’m just saying why put Kong out first they should of put Godzilla first it’s proven Godzilla sells more facts ? Big miss there go to the store you’ll see there’s more Kong figures out and Godzilla sold out faster or look it up I did I’ll wait for this to go on sell not a Kong fan not paying 70$ I rather buy a Godzilla figure instead

Cancelled my orders...once I found out No elbow bend or even knee bend on Kong??. Omg. What the heck.

Playmates makes a huge Kong figure I saw at Target.

My favorite King Kong was with Jack Black

Yeah, but McFarlane went all out with this one and made a waist swivel!!
King Kong merrily on high... Happy Christmas. Top one NIce one
Hold me closer tiny batman 🎶
Why not just scale up and resculpt the gorilla Grod? That would have been way better
Pretty oddly small Kong,no?😊OH? Guess that explains the 2" Bat 😊
Kong vs World breaker Hulk

Coming soon to Ross Con 2025

You should have compared cygor to kong
Even playmates Kong has better look
Pass
That King Kong sucks i will not buy
He does make a great Bigfoot
Desperate for money, I wouldn't be surprised if a double pack appeared, Kong, Batman, Superman, Godzilla at an astronomical price.
I was going to get this, but I've already got a Hush Batman and the Kong sucks. I'm just going to save the money and get a NECA Kong.
Wise decission

That's what SHE said.
Great just great…. I’m behind my McFarlane monkeys….
Wow definitely disappointed in this pack I wait for a clearance

McFarlane did what NECA did way before they started making figures. McFarlane was ahead of the curve with adult collectibles.
How are they imitating NECA when they've been around longer?
@@theramblinmahoney2316 because I said so.

This is an absolute must have set.
Why????
Old Todd dropped the ball on this. Great review. Trash figure!

Who was behind these? Seriously, so dang lazy.
McFarlane is just putting out anything at this point. It’ll be a BIG relief if he loses the DC licensing.
