the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far
northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was
rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still
traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who
visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize
something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana
was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might
help her learn to speak without impediment. Only two years later she
started singing in local theater, and in street plays and performances.
And soon after was entered in a Russian TV music competition for
disadvantaged children. By the age of 10 she was winning local
competitions, singing on live TV shows, and her songs started showing up
on UA-cam. Two months ago, at the age of 18, her first performance
during a new Russian television competition with several other renowned
performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of UA-cam
'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the
competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling

Greetings from Scotland! This is 18yo Diana, she is the most unique, most impressive dramatic contralto (with polyphonic overtones) you will ever hear, now or in the future! WHY? Because Diana was gifted with a spectacular larynx and pharynx at birth. On top of that she has worked tirelessly to continually improve. Placed in an orphanage with a broken collarbone at 3yo after her birth mum tried to drown her, abandoning her in a street in winter. Her new family adopted her at nearly 5yo and she could barely speak, so took her to a speech therapist who advised she took singing lessons - 1 year later at 6yo she was doing solo performances on stage! Since then Diana has worked/sung everywhere she could. Look what that little abandoned girl has grown into now! In my opinion, the greatest singer the world has ever heard! Hello Jesse, thank you for your fine reaction. Diana was 18 years old. She turned 19 earlier this week. Congratulations on this way, Diana.
You used some unusual words to describe Diana. But they are still very appropriate and describe what is special about Diana very well.
Diana has a very rare voice. She is a contralto and she is also polyphonic, which means she can produce several tones at the same time.
Diana's background: Diana was born on May 31, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She was severely abused as a small child and abandoned on the street by her birth mother in winter when she was only 3 years old with a broken collarbone. She was then taken to an orphanage where, after more than one year, she was adopted by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. At the age of four and a half, Diana still could not speak properly. She also stuttered. Experts recommended that she take singing lessons to improve her general speaking and vocal skills.
This was a new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. He's very impressed.

Hi thanks for your reaction to Diana. Diana is actually 18 years old in this video. Diana is a very very rare contralto which is the lowest form of the female singing voice but she has an extended range and the ability to sand with polyphonic overtones. I think maybe the word that you were looking for might be describing her voice, haunting or epic. And I agree she would make a fantastic, Bond girl. If she were to perform this as the theme song for a James Bond movie.

Well, I was really impressed with their honesty and willingness to give truthful and genuine reactions throughout this competition. Diana stretched herself and did nine vastly different performances each week of this show and just blossomed throughout this first season. I appreciate that Dan! I am in this for some pretty egotistical reasons haha learn to talk a bit better, with more energy and more diverse language. Also i actually want to experience new stuff. I really love to engage with people, but i won’t get untrue with myself haha. Clearly enough people love it, so yeah feel free to find the reactor you’d like 😅 i like the format of the show! I realised they were established artist themselves, but not competitors. Gotta say i guess similar formats(with contestants as jury) are always pretty hosana, but i did feel they were genuinely struck by diana’s talent. Kinda would be crazy if they weren’t.. also pretty curious how Diana held her own as a “judge”. Guess it would ask for a lot of personality to give feedback on way more experienced performers (age wise) sure she did fine 😄

In the final of each program, they gave each other scores from 2 to 9 points. Also in each room there was a guest artist with the right to vote, in this room as a guest opera singer - Yusif Aivazov. The contestants were offered a choice of 9 themes: pop hit, folk song, modern hit and so on. The winner of the first season of the show was Diana Ankudinova, who performed the Depeche Mode song "Personal Jesus" in the finale.

She's 18 here and has a dramatic contralto voice, the deepest female voice. She also has a polyphonic voice meaning she can produce multiple tones simultaneously.
This was her last performance in the show. And it is Russian.
What I love here- outside of Diana's voice, of course- is that this was the first episode of the series (there were 9) and you can see that every other judge knows they have lost. There is no chance they can beat her. The woman in red is Yulia Parshuto, who is a pretty good singer herself, and the man who stood is Yusef Iwazov, who is the husband of world-class opera singer Anna Netrebko. Слушая Диану, как-будто на аттракционе свободное падение: улетаешь ввысь, замираешь и падаешь вниз. Невероятное владение голосом, необъяснимо как эта девочка так поет. Слезы счастья наворачиваются. Огромное спасибо Диане, ее маме, спасибо Джесси за слова.
Неделю назад ей исполнилось 19 лет. Обязательно послушай песню "Ворона" на том же шоу. А также рекомендую посмотреть её клип "В небо" и песню "Реченька" на шоу "Ты супер". На том шоу были и песни на английском языке. Тогда ей было 14-15 лет, но уровень её исполнения зашкаливал и тогда. Есть много видео с её выступлениями в 10-13 лет.
