Damn, forgot to mention, the guy standing toward the back in the top tier with tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both well-known and popular opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears? I think she said in an interview that she had no desire to pursue opera which is a shame. I think she would be world class and opera companies around the world would kill to have her perform with them.

Не надо никаких русских субтитров, они неадекватно работают. Достаточно перевода с англ.

Really like your thoughtful comments. Not trying to be a wise guy but as an 80 year dude whose professional life was as a neuropsychologist I will say belief sometimes leads thought to falsity. This performance was in round one of the second contest she won. This was the champion or second one. It is early in her career and she is barely 15. She actually had the contralto early. I have seen videos when she was 10. She had it them just not with the timber. Thanks for all your positivity. I use Diana as my personal soul retriever. Besides my academic training I spent time in South America and Hawaii working and learning about shaman techniques like fire kamying.

Я в молодости занималась академической гребле, мы тренировались на озере, и это озеро в пасмурную грозовую погоду из спокойной водяной глади превращалось в чёрную смолянистую гладь, а при сильном ветре появлялись устращающие чёрные волны. Так и голос Дианы напоминают мне это озеро -чёрное манящее немного жуткое!

This must be the first time you have heard a real contralto use almost all of her range. I don't believe I would call her high notes falsetto because they are part of her natural range, and she doesn't have to force it up there. She has said she is more comfortable singing toward the lower part of her range, but she has effortless access to both her high and low ranges. She is 18 here, which is considered young in a singer's development, but I think she is already a true contralto {rare}. As she matures, I hope she will transition into a full dramatic contralto {very rare}.

At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the first to recognize something special in this little girl, and eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without impediment. That was just spectacular! For me the best of this series. I can't understand why she is not more widely known. A very musically intelligent arrangement - very slick production. Even the wind machine - somehow it really works with her. The only thing I worry about is that she was so immersed in the moment that she appeared overwhelmed at the end - emotionally exhausted perhaps. Maybe as she performs this more often she will find a way to land back safely in the real (mundane) world. I worry that this might not translate very clearly into Russian - but I can't find any easier words right now... Just know this - Diana is a force of nature - that must not be passed over!
