- Hey Guys, In this video Im winding my way north into New York State again. I climb up and over The Shawangunk Mountains and make my way to Gardiner New York, where I pick up The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. This is another Bike Packing adventure with a loosely planned route, sort of aiming for Vermont but not sure where im going to end up. Sometimes that makes an adventure a bit more interesting to me or it gives me the ability to be more flexible. Theres lots to see up and im trying to see it all, New York is always a pleasure to ride. The roads and trail systems are designed really well and easy to navigate.
Stay tuned for much more to come.
The GDMBR: • The Great Divide Mount...
Thank you for bringing us along as always.
You bet
I like the style of your touring. I don't like the regimented schedule of having to be at a certain place at a certain time. I like the challenge of not knowing where I'm going to stay. Yes, it can lead to some hardship but that just makes for more memories.
Awesome, glad you like what you see. Sometimes you have to roll the dice. It’s not like you won’t be able to sleep that night, a nice spot always pops up….and I love the beating.
Just did all the sections in Vermont that you were looking at. A lot of the flood damage on the roads has been cleaned up. There are a few washed out sections, but mainly the damage is residual on people's properties. It was a blast and I can't wait to do Vermont again
Thanks for the heads up.
Very nice trail.
No doubt
some of the best music of all bike-related channels...... stay dry up there.
My man, thanks for watching.
Next time you are passing through, be sure to check out- Disgruntled Chef in Gardiner, and The Big Cheese in Rosendale.
Sounds good thanks for the tips.
New bike looks great. Those trails were really nice lookin. Thanx dude.
The Wall Kill Valley Trail is such a great ride amongst many in The Hudson Valley.
Nice bike and a good setup. Lots of good trails up here in Northern Vermont. Ride until you die. Like that. Take care, Al
Love Vermont, buddy. See you out there sometime.
I have some customers in that area. It's a beautiful area. I always enjoy being there. I'll put the biking in that area on the bucket list.
Come on up and sell me something.
@@TravelingThru222 lol. I'm in the apple business. We make buildings and equipment to store the fruit so it can last in storage for a year or more. We do the refrigeration, nitrogen generation, CO2 scrubbing, data logging, etc.
Livin’ la vida loco baby!
Thanks for the ride.
Thanks for coming with me. Catch you on the road.
Whoa! That new ride is a big step up!must be luxurious!give us a close look &review!!
Coming soon, thanks for watching.
Howdy T T! Back in NY again, wet times. If your ever in the Northern Catskills, feel free to look us up! Be happy to put you up for an RnR. Happy trails!!
Sounds great, thanks for the invite. Catch you on the road.
touring by dead reckoning. best way to go. looks like the credit card method is being employed also. fantastic. you're living my 80's dream.
Definitely grabbed a few extra hotel rooms on this trip, but did some stealth camping as well getting into Vermont. The 80's were a great time. Catch you on the road.
@@TravelingThru222 yea but there were no trails, internet nor avid biking culture. all i had was my collection of Delorme gazetteers. you are doing what i hoped to do!
nice new bike BTW. i was on my early Ross steel MTB.
FYI there is a move called A Quiet Place that filmed at the location @ 12:54
Oh wow, I just checked that out. I had no idea. I Saw that movie quite a while ago. Very interesting. Thanks for the tip.
@@TravelingThru222 I am a local and have been over that bridge many times. Love the videos!
Awesome video. Roll on! 😊
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome video. You rocked it as always. Thanks.
Thanks again!
Sweet bike. Sweet Hippie Shrine.
Yeah buddy.
Welcome back
Might want to wait till Lee passes to head way north.
Cool
Nice rig, dude.
Thanks! 👍
Sweet bike! Which bike computer do you prefer, your Garmin or Wahoo?
It’s all about the Wahoo.
Love your vids. It gets me motivated to get out and go pedaling somewhere. How often do you need to eat and what types of food do you eat to keep your calories up for all those miles?
I try to eat every 20 miles or so, diet is a weird subject. I try to eat healthy in everyday life, but when I step on the bike I’m not hungry for broccoli and rice, I want gummy worms and bagels. I feel anything goes when you’re trying to make distance. I wouldn’t be the best barometer for healthy diet advice. I eat anything and everything on the road, the more calories the better.
Why the new bike? We need the story. We also need a bike tour of it as well.
Yes, sir. New bike, introduction coming soon. Not 100% ready to disclose what exactly I'm doing with the bike, but next year is going to be crazy.
31 by 8 shut the front door jesus !!!
Get it.
@@TravelingThru222 ?
Awesome. Nice new bike. Does it have a carbon frame?
Carbon it is. 18.1 lbs.
@TravelingThru222 sweet. Looks like a perfect multi purpose bike.
@@dog-so1vj training for some mountain bike racing. Not 100% ready to drop the bomb on what exactly I'm getting ready for though. Hang tight.
@@TravelingThru222 sounds great.
Where is this section? 13:20
North of The Rodendale Tresle, Wallkill River trail.
@@TravelingThru222 thanks. I have spent a ton of time climbing in the gunks but despite having a bike pass for many years attached to my climbing pass, I never really biked there. Looking for dry bikepacking options as our virtually snow less winter malingers into snowy spring mucking things up.
How often do you encounter asshole/inattentive drivers while riding on the shoulders? You feel safe generally?
I never really encounter A-hole drivers and I always feel safe. I also think it could be a matter of perspective. I feel cyclists can tend to have an entitled attitude, there’s a time and place to be riding a bike in the middle of the road. Be safe.
