I had a chance to see the guys at Super7 during Comic Con last year for a panel. I didn’t get to stay for long, but hearing them talk about their passion for Godzilla and all the merch for him over the last 50 some odd years really got to me. It was genuine, they seemed to be really happy to have the IP and went on about their fondness for the character and his movie history. That panel is partly due to the reason why it hurts seeing their Ultimate line of figures. For what they are, the figures do seem fairly interesting and neat to own for the “adult collector”. But the asking price for these figures is just way too much given what’s in the box. Your review here just kind of cements that idea for me, I never considered buying these figures before watching your review, and after I think I can comfortably say I’m not changing that stance any time soon. I dunno what the deal was that Super7 struck up with Toho for their line, but whatever it was, those prices are just inexcusable.
I don't doubt for a second Super7 are very much honored and in love that they have the chance to leave their own footprint on the Godzilla IP. Their taste for what made Godzilla merch, Godzilla merch is so vibrant & their releases of such things as apparel, the masks, the ReActions and even these to an extent shows they're in it for more than a niche cashgrab. Far from the latter. There was a point where I wasn't sure if the hype was to blame, or if the announcement pictures should've further showcased the more toyetic design/feel the final product would have. Maybe It's a bit of both. I dunno. I imagine the cost to making these wasn't cheap either. Thats something that often goes out the window in the 'morning after' discussions with videos like these & I always forget to make mention of it. I wouldn't have minded a smaller size for a smaller price though. Maybe we're all missing the grand point of the releases and that they were always meant to be and look like Figures From The Past, Today. But at the end of the day, nearly $200 out, I stand by what I said. Solo or packed together. It's a let-down. Doesn't feel worth it.. this time.
People have begun clinging to the excuse of "Retro" to explain away bad or cheap production decisions. There are things that it's very clear a Retro feel is the intention. These just seem cheap or rushed. Or Super7. Which is honestly fine as the price is off-putting for a US retailer and not like there's not other competition hitting me over the head to steal my lunch money daily.
I dont mind how shiny they are as Goji & Rose Biollante fought in a river while it was raining. However, im extremely worried for the rest of the line as these look nothing, repeat NOTHING like the prototypes they showed off awhile back. Glad I held off on this set. YIKES!
Big props to ya for putting out this video review. Lotta good, honest critique in this one for both of these figures. Hope you get a good rest Rob, you earned it!
Thanks fam, needed me a solid 7 hours after this lol I tried to be fair and not fly off the handle as i used to, hopefully that doesn't get lost in translation.
I haven't laughed this hard is a while. This video is EXACTLY how EVERYONE felt. I saw an early review, emulated how I would feel having them, and cancelled them immediately. 😂
Really questioning how this was passed for release. Not sure how super7 was expecting buyers to respond to this in any way other than disappointment. I've felt since they began their releases they've always missed the mark with paint application and sculpt overall (Godzilla vs hedorah set, DAM set) especially when they're demanding shma prices for figures that are done worse than some of necas early stuff. This release in particular was just a train wreck in all departments. It's cool that there's more stuff now that pops up in US shops for collectors to just stumble upon, but even then it's not like Bandai USA, neca where those were actually affordable for younger fans given that these sets usually fetch for anywhere between $80-$150.
I wouldn't say Playmates, I feel like that's scraping it a bit thin. Plastics wise, yeah, but these are faaarrr more superior to what Playmates puts out.
Thanks so much for helping me save a lot of money, I really didnt have the room anyways but the initial video made it look so cool. This figure doesnt look like the ones in the initial video which is sad. Hopefully they can be obtained at a discounted price like the Transformers wave, but we will have to wait and see.
Had all 3 waves on preorder until I saw the in hand pics of these 2. Cancelled Wave 2 and G89 without hesitation. There’s also 2 other rose form biollante’s in a scale I’m comfortable with this year (YMSF & Bandai). Really let down, but it’s for the better since I’m financially falling 😭
Yeah I wasn’t sure what to expect and I’m not super happy with this result. I think they were supposed to come out like a year ago and it didn’t happen. I have also noticed a trend of other Ultimates figures getting heavy discounts on BBTS and Amazon so it seems like the line isn’t a favorite among collectors. I think I’m going to skip the line altogether and am interested to see what becomes of the heavily delayed Mezco Godzilla figures.
Paint goes a long way in making a toy look like a collectible. These are collectible price, but they don’t look like collectibles. They look like toys.
It’s sad to say it but the you are most likely right the mms one is probably going to be a solid mold with barely any paint making everyone wish we got zilla instead
I cancelled all my super7 Godzilla orders, that is the perfect word I would use for their releases “cheap” looking. I was hoping more for this godzilla line.
I did what you did at 11:57 and it broke. The ball join that’s supposed to stick out from the neck got pulled out of the socket and is stuck in the close mouth head. I got it ten minutes ago 😭
I just don't like posting downer content. I dunno, i know people were really hoping for the best and I feel bad being the guy that just doesn't jive with what was given. Even for the intent of the Retro style. But it is what it is. Can't really go and lie about it lol
An honest critic is the best critic I'm sure some reviews would praise these up and down for the sake of staying on sponsors good side glad your not one👍
@@ShinRobjira I’d much rather you be honest with us. A lot of us watch your videos to help us decide what to spend our hard earned money on. Thanks for being reliable.
Thanks for the honest review. I think Super 7 is just overpriced, period. Even at $15 a pop, I think the ReAction figures are too much $ for what you get. BTW, Biollante's "brain" as you put it, is her "nuclear power sac" according to Trendmasters. 😂
I can get the Reaction line, since your paying for the packaging on top of the figures, there’s actually some effort that goes into the artwork and packaging aesthetic. These on the other hand yah, inferior articulation and accessories, a lackluster paint job and ummm yah just some poor engineering in general. For $85 just get a SH Monsterarts for a few $ more.
Totally agree! At $20 a pop thats what's keeping me from the reaction line. They need to be more like $6 to $10 max. And these figures in the ultimates line if this is what they are gonna produce they need to come down to $25 to $30 per figure. That's more fair for this level of product. Want to charge $85+ then give us a figure actually worth $85+.
Debating picking up just Biollante on BBTS but idk for $84 plus shipping and tax eh I'd want something a little better looking which is sad because I don't have a rose form in my collection yet.
Im hoping Destoroyah has a bit more kick to it compared to Goji and Bio here. Wouldn't blame you for cancelling though.. this is a rocky first impression of the line.
I think they also announced another 90s Goji from Godzilla VS Mothra Battle For Earth. See the designs and the sculpting arent actually all that bad but they want them to look like those old retro 80s toys with much less details and articulation.
Dunno if I've seen that yet. Just the Space Godzilla tease and the Dark Horse Cover Art Godzilla. From the in hands i've seen of their other Ultimates, they can do that much better than what was done here. The details are fine as is. Maybe at the end of the day, these just aren't for me like I thought they'd be. Idk.
yeah the prices on these really kept me away but i said i’d wait until reviews came out before making a final decision. and yeah, i’m glad i stated back on these i just wish they were more in the hiya price range. i also preordered destoroyah and meltdown goji so hopefully they turn out a little better
They would've likely been cheaper had they been at the standard scale. Which would've been nice. Kinda don't hate that they're bigger since all we seem to get are 6 and below figures these days. Ironically, I think Biollante is probably a decent fit for MMS and SHMA. Godzilla... ehhhyeaahh not so much lol
I really appreciate your honesty man. Yup, these are super meh. Playmates level gloss on lazily painted Trendmasters comes to mind. Still enjoyed the hell outta the review because your vibrant personality always shines through brother ✨️😉
I'm totally with you on these figures. They look cheap and are not worth the price. In Germany there are some retailers who charge 140€ for them. Absolutely insane. The new MMS Biollante looks very nice by the way. On to the second wave...
I am not a Godzilla fan but Inlove the SDCC exclusive version. I feel like the paint looks better for the sculpt. It did took me a few day to pull the trigger because $85 was steep
Super 7 is known for doing retro style action figure toylines so when i heard they were doing godzilla figures i was like "f**k yes trendmasters style godzilla figures lets gooooo!",then they revealed them and i was like.......oh.....more godzilla figures like everyone else has done.....yay😒
Only getting the rose biollante, only because I know shma will coast at least 60 to 80 more. That said this line has no chance with this quality for that price point. I can customize mine, so it'll look better, but frankly these should just be better for the cost. People rag on neca's godzillas but for less than half this price they look way nicer in terms of sculpt, and paint. At least their 89 had a hinge jaw, and a tail capable of doing an "s" curve.
No they didn't. But as few pointed out, the Godzilla and Rose Form battle took place during a rain storm. And a body of water. Be that Super7's intention with the gloss, then maybe there's less to worry about with future releases. Time will tell.

This one looked a lot better on the prototype presented on a video a few months ago. With that kind of plastic, it looks cheap as hell, but it's way too expensive. Somehow it reminds me of the Trendmasters Godzilla line, maybe the nostalgic feel can cover the price. The SDCC exclusive looks a lot better
Been hearing a lot of negative about these. That price my god 😮 maybe this will be the same situation as was the case with neca and playmates were the first few releases were not the best ,but over time improved dramatically. But i do feel Super 7 needs to focus mainly on vintage stuff like the Shogun G abd Rodan cause that's were they excel.
Yeah, bit of a mixed bag on my end. Especially for the price. I know their whole intent Is to make these look retro, but that can be accomplished in a way that doesn't feel like i half-ly wasted nearly $200. They've done it before. Eh. But cheers to the people happy with them!
@@ShinRobjira I agree I just don't want to see a great company like Super 7 become to over confident with the success of they're previous releases were they start releasing lower quality figs cause thinking anything will sell. With the upcoming release of the larger Shogun Godzilla with shooting fist which I'm looking forward to I can't help but feel that is the type of figs they are better suited for.
Damn now I need to cancel my melting burning Godzilla. I don’t want a big hunk of plastic, hollow and cheap. I’d rather just sculpt and build one by hand.
I guess it's a good thing I didn't pre order theses. Although I feel like these are better than gas station toys. Those joints scare me like it'll break if you go too crazy about it. Now I'm worried about the blood thirsty version that's coming for SDCC..........
Yeah the whole Gas Station toy comment might've been a little too mean, looking back at it lol For $85 the overall look is one thing, but being scared to push the figure into a pose, which is what the articulation is for, is kinda ... off putting. But I'm the same with some SHMA releases too so, chalk that up to an anxiety of breaking things too lol Posting a 20+ minute long review of how im kinda in the middle with these as of right now whilst also lusting over BloodGoji Is... quite the conundrum lmfao
Wow super 7 has majorly slipped on its QC issues I got the comic version of Conan the barbarian and I swapped the head a couple of times and the head is loose now and for £60 these are a pass
I have a good collection of SH.M.A godzilla's, i am looking forward to Hiya's line continuing, but i dont see a reason to display Super7 ultimates in the same shelf. They will stand out too much with how shiny, and toy like they look. $85 for what you get? Nah...i am let down because i was eager with this line and hope for its success but ...damn...sad.
The only super7 fig I was really impressed with was that comic version of Conan, bad ass and it worked with those he man type bodies, I also own the 3” jaws figures that now go for well over 200 a piece
I have a feeling ima be picking up all the non Godzilla figures. I will definitely get Biolante because I need a rose form and I like how it looks. Mecha I might get, destroyah and melting G I’ll probably pick up. All once I can get them in hand though and see reviews so I know how they are .
If Rob is disappointed, I'm disappointed. I went through multiple comments and a couple reviews and I was mixed if I should buy these figs. Now with this video I'm gonna pass on these figures. Now if these two go on sale I might pick them up in the future.
I hope super 7 does it better next round but I will get the Godzilla just him thank you my man glad someone did a good review and finally seeing the box it came In to but your are so right 85.00 that's to much should of done better for that price
Personally I don't really mind the glossy, toy-like look. I wonder if, beyond the toy-ish look being part of their general schtick, it was also intended to help distinguish these from SHMA, Neca, Mezco, etc. where realism with matte paint was the goal? More concerned about durability with these. Not feeling too impressed with how the joints were handled, and I think "quality over quantity" should've been applied here. For example, they could've cut down on the number joints in the tail if it meant that the individual joints were better. Price could've been better too, but probably a combination of the licensing costs along with the limited nature of Ultimates runs that made things so ridiculous.
Despite this wave feeling kinda half baked, I still want their Ultimates Line to continue. They can improve. Just like Playmates did. Plus, It'd be nice if they could finish off the Heisei Offerings and get into the Showa/Millennium Era stuff. I wanna see what they can do beyond this.
They honestly look like they're made from a plastic bin. And that articulation is kinda a let down. Bio's joints pop off as often as shma ball joints. I totally get the disappointment.
The tail Is really in need of a rework. I could live with NECA-like articulation if the tail could hold a pose. I think. RoseBio being a bit... poppy is kinda underwhelming. More-so the droop than anything else. I guess the one upside to the tendrils popping off is that they're interchangeable with the ports........but also, $85. Mixed bag at best. Good points and Meh. Hoping the next wave and wave 3 are better.
I think I’m the only super 7 ultimates defender, but their is no reason to buy any Godzillas the only reason I defend the line is for articulated destroyah and moguera.
I was going to preorder but I had a gut feeling not to. Glad I listened and waited for reviews. The paint isnt worth it. The gloss is just way too much.
I mean, they're cool... in a $20 Trendmasters way and that's about it. I would've been all over these in the 90's but with everything else we have to choose from now these kind of feel a little unnecessary.

Where’d you order yours? I haven’t received mine yet….
Bought directly from Super7, seems they're going out from them by complete random.
You receive them or shipping confirmation since?
Is it just me or does the audio not work?
Audios working on my end
@@ShinRobjirai had to restart the app, my bad, the audio works now!!
Would these be in scale with the Mezco figures 😅
I do not think so lol
Shame 😢
if the glossy is such a bother, use a matte varnish or semi gloss
if they come out with a reissue with better paint i might consider it
Why not Super-7 give them A Hinged at the Jaw Insted of Alternative Heads Rob?!?!
From just the thumbnail i thought this was another trendmasters product review lol.
I know their whole intent Is to make these look retro, but that can be accomplished in a way that
doesn't feel like i half-ly wasted nearly $200.
Remember, folks....."Eighty five dollars."
😂😂😂
Damn now I need to cancel my melting burning Godzilla. I don’t want a big hunk of plastic, hollow and cheap. I’d rather just sculpt and build one by hand.
Just curious...I know these are larger figures but I wonder if Rose Bio would fit ok next to SHMA adult Bio?
Yes shma adult Biollante believe it or not is a little bit of a bigger figure then Rose Biollante so Yes she'll scale fine
Yay! Biollante! 🦖⚘️🌹🌷🥀
No mouth articulation, really?
I guess it's a good thing I didn't pre order theses. Although I feel like these are better than gas station toys. Those joints scare me like it'll break if you go too crazy about it. Now I'm worried about the blood thirsty version that's coming for SDCC..........
Yeah the whole Gas Station toy comment might've been a little too mean, looking back at it lol
For $85 the overall look is one thing, but being scared to push the figure into a pose, which is what the articulation is for, is kinda ... off putting.
But I'm the same with some SHMA releases too so, chalk that up to an anxiety of breaking things too lol
Posting a 20+ minute long review of how im kinda in the middle with these as of right now whilst also lusting over BloodGoji Is... quite the conundrum lmfao
@@ShinRobjira same here about the bloody one. Con prices are ridiculous
Wow super 7 has majorly slipped on its QC issues I got the comic version of Conan the barbarian and I swapped the head a couple of times and the head is loose now and for £60 these are a pass
I would get these figures if they weren't so damn expensive
I have a good collection of SH.M.A godzilla's, i am looking forward to Hiya's line continuing, but i dont see a reason to display Super7 ultimates in the same shelf. They will stand out too much with how shiny, and toy like they look. $85 for what you get? Nah...i am let down because i was eager with this line and hope for its success but ...damn...sad.
Hoping this was just a rocky start and not the full vision for the final products.
i really hope that the SpaceGodzilla their making is a little bit better then this i want a good affordable SpaceGodzilla that at least looks nice.
4:54 ouch
Wouldn't mind having this
Why doesn’t super7 articulate the jaws on there figures?
love it
They have a trendmasters aesthetic.
$85 for THIS?! Nah, bruh…
Super7, please focus on the reaction figures. Hiya Toys can focus on the articulated stuff 😅
Bro seeing the reaction on Facebook is hilarious. The Rose Biollante looks fantastic but the Godzilla looks awful for an 80$ price tag
Man I'm pretty disappointed how these figures turned out (I'm glad I didn't buy them)
They honestly look like they're made from a plastic bin.
I guess the one upside to the tendrils
popping off is that they're interchangeable with the ports........but also, $85.
Mixed bag at best. Good points and Meh.
Hoping the next wave and wave 3 are better.
I think I’m the only super 7 ultimates defender, but their is no reason to buy any Godzillas the only reason I defend the line is for articulated destroyah and moguera.
8:06 😂😂😂
Listen, these aren’t bad. But the problem is no one wants to pay 86 bucks for these things
They're not great, but they're not heinous piles either.
It's just the final price paid really doesn't reflect much in the quality given.
Yea I’m not getting one
I was going to preorder but I had a gut feeling not to. Glad I listened and waited for reviews. The paint isnt worth it. The gloss is just way too much.
Agreed
I mean, they're cool... in a $20 Trendmasters way and that's about it. I would've been all over these in the 90's but with everything else we have to choose from now these kind of feel a little unnecessary.
They should of made perfect form biolante
I will buy battle roar shim
