Apparently, I've had "Leukonychia punctata" most of my life, and was told, like most people are, that it was because the body was expelling calcium. These spots seemed to have disappeared along with the change in my diet, unsurprisingly.
I"ll put that on my list Janis. The key to handling malabsorption is to understand what's causing it. It can be from a food sensitivity, decreased stomach acid, decreased pancreatic enzymes, infections in the gut (these are often silent), an imbalance of probiotics, yeast overgrowth, etc. If you need assistance, please consider contacting us for a free health analysis - call 408-733-0400. Great information! Will you be doing another nail video covering peeling, brittle, paper thin, splitting and nail so soft it lays over the finger like a cap? I think I may have leaky gut from drinking so much soda in the 80's; the single line down the center of my thumb nails may point to that. I appreciate your videos so much. Be well. bye
Just posted the next one on skin - enjoy! There's also a blog to go w/ each along with pictures. The skin blog should be up in a couple of days. All the best!
It's associated with protein deficiency. This doesn't mean you're necessarily eating a poor diet, it could be due to malabsorption. If you need assistance with that and your Hashimoto's, consider contacting us for a Free health analysis - just call 408-733-0400. We are a destination clinic and treat patients from across the country and internationally. We are here to help! I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your response. I am presently off grains for 30 days and notice an improvement with my nails. They seem a little stronger. I also included some vitamin C to my diet.
I read that zinc may deplete iron in your system . Not sure about how these two are suppose to be balanced. I have been anemic a few times so I am cautious.
I will try to get that done for you. It involves bringing the whole camera set-up and lights home, etc. In the meantime the recipe is on my website - healthnowmedical - under recipes. (I can't write out the complete website because UA-cam doesn't allow you to, but the dot com at the end is needed.) Best, Dr vikki
+Thomas Banakas Yes, it's here on You Tube under Green Smoothie along with some others I use. It's also on my site under blogs > recipes. Site: healthnowmedical.com
I'm not sure where you live, but if it's in the U.S. consider giving me a call and we can talk about the best approach for your thyroid. Call 408-733-0400.
Hi doctor I live in uk but i am struggling with weight gain and chronic fatigue hair loss and i generally feel ill all the time. Its very difficult. How can i try and access your help from so far please. I am very desperate.thanks
I just answered you're later message, but I see where you live now. It really would be dependent on whether you could come to the U.S. one time. If not, my best advice would be to try to find a Functional Medicine doctor there. I wish you lived closer.
Hello Dr. Vikki You responded to a question I had and gave me a number to reach you...Im in Alberta...what would be a good time to call? Please and thank u
Dr Vikki what is your opinion on Dr McDougall's book the Starch Solution that focuses on diet around starches like rice, potatoes, corn, etc? I went raw vegan for awhile and had results but was always hungry and would soon crash. With rice and potatoes I've noticed that I have energy like I've never had before. The answer was sitting in front of my face the whole time.
I'm not a fan of corn due to most of it being GMO, but if rice and potatoes suit you and you eat them in a whole, unprocessed, organic form, it's likely a great source of energy. Also consider taking stock of your fat intake and ensure you're getting adequate amounts of the good fats - they too will keep you satisfied.
Dr. Vikki Petersen hi yes nuts and flax seed seem to satisfy me. I know with rice, even organic, you have to be worried about arsenic. The whole word is toxic it seems. lol
Ali Najim I'm sure it's possible. Some brands label their products as "gluten free," but leave out that they were processed on the same equipment gluten products were. The brand of chia seeds I use is Navita's Naturals and I haven't had any problems. Hope this helps. ☺️
My onychorrrrhexis (so glad to finally know that it IS a thing, lol) is getting a lot better! Hardly there at all anymore. I do eat more plant proteins and iron as well as take an iron supplement from Garden of Life.
Your Channel Has a lot of integrity, are you a MD or Natural path. Most MDS are not as Health oriented.
You rock. One of the best health videos I have watched.
Thank you for the information on nail health.

Great. It's amazing what the nails will tell us. Good job on changing your diet!
Very helpful video but please do another one on what to do about malabsorption.
I"ll put that on my list Janis.

Do Beau´s Line indicate a deficiency when I only have them on my toe nails but not on my finger nails?
Great video! I'm looking forward to the others in this mini series.

Dr. Petersen what do you think about phytic acid when consuming nuts and beans?
Thank you for the advice
Doc what about folic acid? what type of food has it?
Is there a (thumb) nail condition related too much zinc?
So grateful for your channel.
You are most welcome! Thank you!
Thanks Vikki
I have onychorrhexis nails. What do you mean protein problem? Low or high protein? I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease.

Vikki, can you make a video of what your personal smoothie for the morning is? Thanks! - Tom

Dr. Vikki Petersen The recipes in your site are wonderful. :)
Glad you like them. They'll be a lot more coming up in my new book. It's not a cookbook but it's going to have many recipes.

what about Laluna's?? i used to have them on all nails and now they are only on my thumbs.
It's good to give your nails a 'breather' occasionally from artificial nails.

Capotvert78 We are located in California and our hours are 9:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Dr. Vicki Peterson what's so funny about the word free? Or free in-home test
Pete Mitchell Its “cool”, and a bit unexpected, not necessarily funny. I just smile a lot.
Dr. Vikki Petersen I apologise if I offended you

Get organic rice from California - less arsenic issues.
Is chia seed gluten free ?Thanks
Yes, chia seeds are gluten free.
Is there a chance of cross contamination...when buying them

+WorldMeetsJoy thanks alot 😊
Yes they are.
what about finger nails vs thumbnails.. foe example I have the onychorrhexis on thumbnails but not any fingernails
thought its actually one thumbnail and its very mild
My onychorrrrhexis (so glad to finally know that it IS a thing, lol) is getting a lot better! Hardly there at all anymore. I do eat more plant proteins and iron as well as take an iron supplement from Garden of Life.
ironically you aren't knowledgeable on seeds.. long story but research their properties
Are you intimating that chia seeds are gluten containing? Can you be more specific in your comment?
