It's tough to not go candy or Shultz for me. Different reasons for each but shout-out to the colonel Sanders looking slave owner who pulls off hilarious and despicable at the same time. Tarantino is just a master of dialogue
It was Dr. Shultz for Me !!! However if you like the cast in this I think your going to love the Cast in Kill Bill as well 😎 Note .Miss Bisscute if you Enjoyed the Actor Dr.Shultz you might enjoy his Work in Alita Battle Angel 😇 also in my over 5k DVD collection !!! I highly recommend it !!! Unfortunately Disney owns the Rights now if there will be A 2 nd movie !!! 🥴
"You got sand" means courage, determination, resolve, or grit. It suggests that Django has tried to escape before (probably multiple times) and his owner doesn't want to deal with it because he knows he'll just do it again. The biggest detriment of a slave escaping wasn't losing a slave, it was that if successful, it encouraged the other slaves to also try to escape. Favorite Character - Big Daddy.
Both Of Leo and Waltz were nominating for Oscar for these roles and Waltz got it. But I agree that Leo was amazing. It's one of his best roles ever for me.
Tarantino usually appears in most of his movies in some small role ( much like Alfred Hitchcock did ). He was the guy that blew up with the dynamite when Django shot him as he was being taken to the mines near the end.
If you listen closely, Tarantino also plays “Robert” in the funny “raid” prelude scene. But he’s wearing the bag over his head. Haven’t fact checked this but I’m pretty damn sure it’s him. I got an ear for voices.
Hitchcock was in his movies just a couple of seconds, normally in a long shot or sometimes in a travelling or a zoom. Nothing compares to the roles that Quentin Tarantino plays and less time than Stan Lees short one lines.
Great reaction, as usual. A few facts you may not know- after his fantastic work on “Inglorious Basterds”, Tarantino made sure to write a role for Waltz, as the German dentist-turned-bounty hunter who frees Django, trains him in his trade, and then helps to save his wife. Waltz initially turned down the role, feeling it was too obviously tailored towards him and wouldn’t be a challenge, but Tarantino persuaded him to take the part. The rest is history. The lead character’s name in Django Unchained comes from Sergio Corbucci’s old spaghetti western Django, which starred Franco Nero as the titular gunslinger. Nero has a cameo appearance in Django Unchained as an homage to the actor’s most iconic work. He plays the man at the bar who asks Django for his name. Django tells him, “The D is silent,” and in a pitch-perfect, self-referencing, wink-to-the-audience response, Nero says, “I know.”
The first "Django" With Franco Nero is fucking legendary, I love that movie! Another thing I loved in this movie is the soundtrack, with one of my favourite songs from a Bud Spencer movie🙂
Also a fun fact...at the beginning the Dr shot an killed the guy on the horse that threatened to shoot him. He got his revenge at the end killing the Dr. He was DeCaprios bodyguard
Phrenology (the pseudoscience of associating bumps on the skull with personality traits) was a historically accurate popular belief of that time used to justify inherent racial difference. People of that time used all sorts of biased “experiments” comparing skull size (Stephen Jay Gould, a modern biologist, wrote a great book “The Mismeasure of Man” explaining how the data was falsified etc.) to justify that.

41:09 well you translated it literally and 100% correct. A native German might have said the same :D I am very much in love with how you identify all the different languages and actually speak some of them. It’s very rare that I see that in reactions. I also like your editing style a lot, you keep so much in! Have to watch more of your videos to find out where you from and what languages you speak :D Edit: Ok du wohnst in Deutschland haha

53:57 Specifically, Alexandre Dumas's paternal grandmother was a slave of Afro-Caribbean descent. She was bought by a French marquis when he was in what's now called Haiti but was then a French colony. She had two daughters and a son with the marquis, and when he returned to France he sold her and their daughters but took their son Thomas-Alexandre with him - selling him at first but with the understanding that he could buy him back shortly afterwards. In France the marquis had Thomas-Alexandre freed and educated as a gentleman, but they had a falling out when Thomas-Alexandre joined the army as a private rather than as a higher rank befitting the son of a marquis, and Thomas-Alexandre took his mothers name Dumas. During the French Revolution Thomas-Alexandre became a lieutenant to Joseph Bologne (another son of a minor French aristocrat and a house slave who like Thomas-Alexandre was freed and educated in France and who was given the title Chevalier de Saint-Georges by Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette because of his skills as a fencer, composer and violinist but who was denied the position of director of the Paris opera because of his skin colour and who ultimately sided with the Revolutionaries rather than with the monarchy, and who during the French Revolution was made Colonel in the first all-black regiment in the French army), and went on to become the first man of African descent to rise to the position of General in the French army. He married a white French woman and had three daughters and a son with her, but their marriage was threatened by Napoleon reintroducing the slave practices and race laws that the revolution had dissolved when he became emperor of France, and he received no compensation for the years he was imprisoned while in service to the French army, and when he died his widow Napoleon refused to pay her the money given to widows of generals. Their son was Alexandre Dumas who is one of the most popular novelists of all time and is rumoured to have based some of his lead characters of his memories or stories that he heard of his father. So yes, Alexandre Dumas is black - though some insist on calling him 'mixed' so much that it sounds like they don't want a literary figure to be black and others may call him and his father Creole. Regardless, his accomplishments along with the accomplishments of his father and of Joseph Bologne definitely proves Calvin Candie's "theories" of white people being intellectually and artistically superior to black people to be complete nonsense.
I mean if someone is half "white" and half "black" he'd be mixed no ? It's like saying He's "white" cause his mother was. It's a very American mindset to call anyone darker than an average European "black"
No, he definitely didn't smear real blood in her face. He did cut himself by accident and he did start bleeding, so they worked it into the scene in a way that's actually legal.
I heard the same as @mulrich . He cut his hand and continued and then they got him all stitched up. And they continued the scene with fake blood for continuity and then Leo wipes it on her face and I believe she was not expecting him to do that.

One of my all time favorite movies. Tarintino did another Western Style movie that is also amazing called The Hateful Eight. Def put that movie in your lineup if you haven't seen it yet. You'll love it!
What exactly is this movie? A comedy? A thriller? Horror? actions? No. It's a Tarantino. This is a separate category that you recognize immediately once you have seen it. Every filmmaker who manages to do something like this has really understood his craft.
this is how much of a good dude leo is . when filming the movie he could bring himself to say the word nigga and it was jamie and sam jackson who told him it was ok to say it since they knew he was only saying it because they were doing a movie
Hey Bizzcute, We have to find you some more flicks in the mold of Tarantino style. I think another set of directors that may tickle your fancy is the Cohen brothers. They made, "Raising Arizona", "Fargo", "No Country for Old Men", O Brother where art Thou?", and so many more.

When i was a little boy the first movie i saw Leo in was Basketball Diaries and since then its still my fav performance of his. he's been killing it since he started, total awesome actor : D
Aside from being absolutely adorable, Bisscute has one of the best senses of humour in the entire Reaction World. Any young Lady who giggles this much at Tarantino is a quality individual. 👍✌❤
Samuel L Jackson he’s interprétation of Steven is phenomenal. Even though this is a love story. Tarantino here is talking about slavery in the US OF A. And of course their were all kind of slave and all kind of slave owners. But I’ve never thought someone would show such a despicable caractere. And I’ve never thought Sir Jackson could be in that type of role ! I have such appreciation for him as a man. I am literally shocked y his performance here !
So many great metaphors on the "positive" scene... the "blue boy" Gainsborough, the blood on the cotton; all round the great "positive" dialogue. One of my favourite Tarantino's.
Leonardo hands down was the best actor. When he smacked that glass, that was not supposed to happen. That blood on his arm was real, and he kept the scene going. He’s acting gold. He didn’t want to say the N word, and there is a seperate video about the pep talk Jamie and Sam had to give him.
Didn't want to say the N-word. Performative woke politics. Leo's inner circle is full of racist and sexist men. Sam told him to basically just do his job.
I respect your comment but I disagree with it at the same time. While Leo is a great actor and did great with this role Samuel L Jackson was the centerpiece to this movie.. His manipulation is what made that final act what it was to be able to get the best out of the other characters. He moved the story to get what we got. I despised his character as he played it so well and it was easy to gravitate to because I needed to see what underhanded act Steven was gonna pull to not allow Django to get his wife or even get them killed. That’s no disrespect to the other characters as everyone did well or even your comment for choosing Leo but I think Sam stole the show, just my personal opinion
I have got to say this is my favorite so far of all of your reactions. And also, I am American and the fact that you knew what "Apropos" meant and I had no idea impressed the hell out of me.
My dear Madalina, the actor that you loved also played in Inglorious Basterds, the movie you watched a couple weeks ago. He played the main Nazi villain, the one he tattooed at the end with the swastika. I truly can't get enough of watching your reactions, you are truly unique, 1 of a kind, with a great sense of humor. "Lure the prey in with your feminine charms, then boom, boom boom, my money" absolutely priceless, you are so beautiful, and so smart, as well as having the cutest giggling ever. I am such an admirer of the woman you are, as well as a fan, keep it coming my dear.
A stage couch is basically a bus that was drawn by horses. Ppl hired them to take them specific places, some were exclusive for banks etc, and others ran specific routes.
I don't live in Texas, but I live in New Mexico which is the state next door to the west. Here, Sheriffs have jurisdiction over a single county. The Bernalillo County Sheriffs don't operate outside of Bernalillo County for instance. Marshals are Federal Officers, they have jurisdiction everywhere in the USA, but they have more specialty roles like witness protection and such. The scope of their jurisdictions and their responsibilities are what set different levels of law enforcement apart.
Hey Bisscute, Your reaction was amazing. Django is the perfect mixture of humor and emotion. I especially love your jump scares to the sudden random shootings. The one that stands out is when Django kills the LE Quint Dickie folks. The shocked look on your face was PRICELESS!!!!!!! LOVE IT.
Hi Miss Biss!🙂Leo really cut his hand at the table scene, but he continued to act for the camera. You have already seen Christoph Waltz in his big break through role in the United States, "Inglorious Basterds". He is an Austrian-German actor. In those days they transported money to banks and people to towns by stagecoach (horse driven carriages), and trains. These companies would become our modern day armored car services. Companies like Wells Fargo Bank first got started in the old West and were easy to spot as their stagecoaches were painted red. "Got sand" means he is determined or plucky. It is close, but I would have to go with Christoph Waltz as my favorite. "Jackie Brown" (1997) is an underated Quentin Tarrantino film that is also quite good.🏆Great entertaining reactions to Django Unchained, Bisscute!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
New Tarantino fan confirmed ) he's my favorite director as well, his movies are just a whole vibe in itself ) Django ofcourse was very great glad you lik3d it :3
11:04 "You got sand." Another way of saying "You've got grit." Sand is gritty. An alternative definition of grit is courage, or spirit. So, "You have spirit. I don't have use for a slave with the guts to try to escape."
I love that you wont do reactions to movies that you have already seen, just to get views. But let me tell you that its "the view" that caught my attention to this channel many moons ago. However, its the content that stole my heart and keeps bringing me back....❤❤❤❤
the actor who played the guy django was talking 2 at the bar played django in the 1960's django movie . mandingo fighting were fights that slave owners used their strongest slaves
This is in my top 3 for Tarantino movies. The dialogue is just SO well done. The only negative thing I would say about it is that he should have just ended it after the house explosion. Everything after that is just....unneccesary.
That scene with Leo bleeding from the hand that was his actual blood. When he did this character he was so in character. They kept filming him with the blood in his hand.
23:00 - "Stagecoach" was a kind of long-distance charriot, used in the US Wild West before the withspread use of trains. The stagecoats took passengers and mail in long journeys (a full day or even several days, stopping in hostels along the way), connecting cities that were not connected by train or boat. Because of the long journeys, they were vulnerable when travelling and, therefore, were often subject to robberies. More at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stagecoach
The Sheriff is elected by the town and enforced local laws. The Marshal was appointed typically by the Governor and enforced national or federal laws. The Marshal also had more authority.
I love the old stories of the Greek Gods. We get so many words and phrases from those stores. The the Nymph who was cursed to only repeat words that was said to her. Her name was 'Echo' and that's where we get that word from. There's 1000s of examples like that.
you will love Once Upon a time in Hollywood. However Guy Ritchie (who made Snatch) released his own throwback movie at the same time, The Gentlemen, you'll love that too.
After Django says "the D is silent" the guy says " I know." That's an inside joke. Django Unchained takes a lot of inspiration from this old spaghetti western film series with that actor. That actor's name in those films was Django. That's why he said "I know."
From what I understand, a marshall can cover an entire state or the whole country depending on what kind they are. A Sheriff is elected and covers the local county or city metro.
The original movie started the guy sitting at the bar! Big Daddy is Don Johnson. Been in many great movies, but the main star of the groundbreaking TV show, Miami Vice, which was mostly produced directed and written by the unbelievable Michael Mann!😮😮😮
Honestly, EVERYONE in this movie did a FANTASTIC acting job (except for Quentin himself in his cameo, LOL!) but I really think the stand-out performance here is Leo. I can't believe he didn't win or even get NOMINATED for a major award for this movie. He absolutely NAILED this role, better than anyone else (and everyone was good!)
In some Tarantino movies Leonardo Di caprio shines, in some others Christoph Waltz does and in others still Uma Thurman does, but in every single one of them Samuel L Jackson is there giving great performance after great performance 😀
I think this is Jamie Foxx's best role. But the favorite actor in every film is Tarantino himself. He always chooses a small role and plays it brilliantly.
Great acting across the board in this film. Favorite character though woukd have to be Dr. Schultz by Christoph Waltz. As a footnote, your distaste for the character of Miss Laura was wonderfully palpable.
8:08 "What was the difference between the _sheriff_ and the _marshal?"_ Oh. Different stages in the _hierarchy._ The sheriff enforces _local_ laws. The marshal enforces _county_ laws.
you ever seen "4 Rooms"? thats one of my favorite Tarantino films. He loves to load his movies up with all sorts of big actors and most of them only have about three lines. Thats a fun movie.
9:15 so then You should definitely watch Alita: Battle Angel, starring Christoph Waltz as one of the main characters. This is my most favorite movie, from James Cameron directed by Robert Rodriguez. If You liked Avatar, Alita should too.
33:55 This scene, I think, provides insight into an _especially contemptible_ aspect of Candie's character. This man is one of the _Mandingo_ warriors he owns and he has given him the name "D'Artagnan." He has named him after one of the heroes of the book _The Three Musketeers_ which he has read. But this book was written by Alexandre Dumas, one of whose grandparents is _black,_ and that ancestry was quite _unmistakable_ in the man. He wrote a book that gave the world a character whose name Calvin Candie has passed on to one of his _slaves._
Hey Bisscute, Samuel L Jackson, in an interview, was asked about being cast for Stephen, and he said Tarantino sent him the script, then called him to see what he thought about it, and Jackson said, "So, you want me to play the worst negro in the history of films?" Tarantino said, "Uh, yeah." Jackson said, "OK". lol
Greetings there Miss Bisscute.... love your channel, really appreciate how thoughtful and intelligent your reactions are. Had to pause my view of watching Django Unchained here to comment that you absolutely made me laugh, almost had coffee come out my nose here with your comment...think it was right around time mark 36:35 or so, when you said ' the D is silent, but the nuggets are visible' .... lmao.... that got me good....and quite true for this character. Keep up the great work, really enjoy your content. Take care! Dart from Chicago 😉
Dunno if anyone said it, but a sheriff is the appointed law enforcer of a particular town or county. A US Marshall is a law enforcer for the US federal government.
Want a good DiCaprio suggestion? What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993). Leo's first major movie role and it immediately showed his range as an actor, and especially for one so young. The lead role is played by an also very young Johnny Depp.
28:58 No one's mentioned it in these comments I think, but that's Franco Nero, he played Django in a version from 1966. There's a lot of Django movies actually. So when he asks how its spelled there's a reason he says "I know" when Django spells it correctly lol
Justified.
Two things. Comments keep talking about Leo smearing is blood on her face, its not. He cut his hand on accident when he slammed the table, kept it in the scene, patched it up, and then readded fake blood to him to use in the scene. Wouldve been an unethical biohazard otherwise. Number two, Phrenology was disproven in the 1840's. Django is set in the late 1850's which points to an underlying character point of Calvin being that he isnt as smart as he makes himself look. He was trying to spout off a theory that he didnt know held no basis in medical facts.
The 1966 Django is a masterpiece…I bought it twice 😊. The star of that film has a cameo here: Franco Nero. Dark mahogany-like wood from a Western Africa: Gaboon.
I absolutely loved your reaction to this film, Biss! It's an awesome movie. My favorite character would have to be Stephen, probably, such great portrayal by Sam Jackson!
Your favorite Character in this movie ?
king schultz
Dr Schultz!
It's tough to not go candy or Shultz for me. Different reasons for each but shout-out to the colonel Sanders looking slave owner who pulls off hilarious and despicable at the same time. Tarantino is just a master of dialogue
Mine is Robert, from the 'KKK' raid. Shows a reasonable man reasonably reasoning a good ol' lynching. In a hilarious way.
It was Dr. Shultz for Me !!! However if you like the cast in this I think your going to love the Cast in Kill Bill as well 😎
Note .Miss Bisscute if you Enjoyed the Actor Dr.Shultz you might enjoy his Work in Alita Battle Angel 😇 also in my over 5k DVD collection !!! I highly recommend it !!! Unfortunately Disney owns the Rights now if there will be A 2 nd movie !!! 🥴
A $7000 bounty in 1858 would be around $270,000 today just to put everything in perspective.

Big plus for “Eastern Promises”! A very underrated movie.
As a Leonardo fan too - I'll recommend "The Departed" or "The Revenant" (won an Oscar for that one) ... Awesome movies - and awesome acting! :)

The way Sam stares at Jamie during the dinner is chilling.
@@richardjohnson5435 and after the one girl says broomhilda has eyes for Django
Waltz was the best actor in this movie, not Leonardo.
Man girl your laughs during this movie are awesome.
Not a better laugh then one that is contagious
She has a tendency to have a sadistic sense of humor. Not impressed with her cackling.
Reminds me of Candice from "Phineas and Ferb".

I have got to say this is my favorite so far of all of your reactions. And also, I am American and the fact that you knew what "Apropos" meant and I had no idea impressed the hell out of me.
09:00 Sheriff was and still is the top law enforcement official in a county (state level). Marshall is Federal law enforcement.
The horse that Django rides in the movie actually belongs to Jamie Foxx.
I am such an admirer of the woman you are, as well as a fan, keep it coming my dear.
bro woke up and put his simping cap on lmao
A stage couch is basically a bus that was drawn by horses. Ppl hired them to take them specific places, some were exclusive for banks etc, and others ran specific routes.
That's also Jamie Fox's horse...he taught Waltz how ride...even bought his a saddle
When Mr Candy cuts his hand when buying the girl he actually cut his hand but Leo did not want to stop till after the scene was done
LOVE IT.
The Italian guy at the Mandingo scene is Franco Nero, the og Django from the 60's
If you like westerns one of the greatest ever made by Hollywood is Tombstone. Great actors with even greater dialogue🔥
Oh man, would love to see Biss's reaction when she looked up Mandingo. 😂
Great reaction...although I noticed at times you get a crazy smile when violence happens 🤣
Your reactions are often as long as the actual movie!
Real-life soldiers that get hurt but keep doing their job are almost as brave and courageous as Leo.
Another brilliant acting of Christoph Waltz!!!
I love that you wont do reactions to movies that you have already seen, just to get views. But let me tell you that its "the view" that caught my attention to this channel many moons ago. However, its the content that stole my heart and keeps bringing me back....❤❤❤❤
The phrase you got sand is slang for courage, determination, resolve; grit.
the actor who played the guy django was talking 2 at the bar played django in the 1960's django movie . mandingo fighting were fights that slave owners used their strongest slaves
11:07 sand is a term used to describe someone that has toughness and guts like sandpaper something that has alot of grit and tough edges
This is in my top 3 for Tarantino movies. The dialogue is just SO well done. The only negative thing I would say about it is that he should have just ended it after the house explosion. Everything after that is just....unneccesary.
Didn’t the movie end with the explosion? I’m confused
That scene with Leo bleeding from the hand that was his actual blood. When he did this character he was so in character. They kept filming him with the blood in his hand.
At first. They cut and added fake blood to finish the scene.

One of my favorite lesser known Tarantino movies is Four Rooms. It's a great new years movie.
From what I understand, a marshall can cover an entire state or the whole country depending on what kind they are.
A Sheriff is elected and covers the local county or city metro.
Have you reacted to The Revenant yet? Leo finally got his academy award for that one.
And it's a true story
My favorite is Fritz. He's the best actor of the bunch to bow when they say his name.
Leo DiCaprio was also in another good Western with Sharon Stone, Russell Crowe and Gene Hackman called The Quick and the Dead.
In some Tarantino movies Leonardo Di caprio shines, in some others Christoph Waltz does and in others still Uma Thurman does, but in every single one of them Samuel L Jackson is there giving great performance after great performance 😀
Marshalls are federal government employees, while Sheriffs are appointed or elected under state, county, or city jurisdiction.
Holy cow v for vendetta and Django are both in my top 5 and we get them like back to back 💪🏽
She's on a roll
I think this is Jamie Foxx's best role. But the favorite actor in every film is Tarantino himself.
He always chooses a small role and plays it brilliantly.
What I remember most was the song "Ancora Qui" by Elisa. That deserves a listen on its own.
Great acting across the board in this film. Favorite character though woukd have to be Dr. Schultz by Christoph Waltz. As a footnote, your distaste for the character of Miss Laura was wonderfully palpable.
8:08 "What was the difference between the _sheriff_ and the _marshal?"_
Oh. Different stages in the _hierarchy._ The sheriff enforces _local_ laws. The marshal enforces _county_ laws.
Thank you for being genuine
you ever seen "4 Rooms"? thats one of my favorite Tarantino films.
No, you'd suck as a bounty hunter because you'd be wandering around lost in the parking lot.
I'll pick Sauel L. Jackson as a favorite actor in a Tarantino film....every time.
Another great reaction. You make re-watching these movies fun. I love that you have a rather sick sense of humor. Perfect for a Tarantino film.
Hey Bisscute, Samuel L Jackson, in an interview, was asked about being cast for Stephen, and he said Tarantino sent him the script, then called him to see what he thought about it, and Jackson said, "So, you want me to play the worst negro in the history of films?" Tarantino said, "Uh, yeah." Jackson said, "OK". lol
YOU GOT SAND DJANGO , like grit/true grit meaning guts /determination.
We love ur sarcasm! Along with that evil lil laugh of urs! Great react as always.
Oh? Sounds interesting, hopefully someday I’ll get to it
Another Djoyous day with BissFlix :) Maybe you could do The Hateful Eight for an upcoming reaction?
28:58 No one's mentioned it in these comments I think, but that's Franco Nero, he played Django in a version from 1966. There's a lot of Django movies actually.
So when he asks how its spelled there's a reason he says "I know" when Django spells it correctly lol
If you want to see more DiCaprio, I would recommend The Revenant.
Justified.
Wow you are a great linguist, amazes me when people speak second languages this good x
28:50 that’s actually the original Django 🤠
The 1966 Django is a masterpiece…I bought it twice 😊. The star of that film has a cameo here: Franco Nero. Dark mahogany-like wood from a Western Africa: Gaboon.
I absolutely loved your reaction to this film, Biss! It's an awesome movie. My favorite character would have to be Stephen, probably, such great portrayal by Sam Jackson!
love your laugh @Bissflix :)
btw what they mean with ' you got sand ' in the movie is : you got spirit , Sass
On the road to recovery, get well Jamie Foxx.
