Excellent review and video man, so much good info here. I bought the Genious 2 charger and love it, have an awesome day.
Great video! I just saved this item on Amazon. Thanks again!
Excellent and very thorough review thank you! I do have one question. If I have two 6V batteries wired in parallel, do I leave them hooked up and use this charger with 2 separate banks, or would I use one bank and hook the positive to one battery and the negative to the other? Thanks!
You can do both. If you connected one bank to each battery (in 6V mode) then you would end up charging your pair of batteries faster than if you were to use a single bank in 12V mode and split the charge between the two batteries.
Just about ran my four 6volt dry on fluid. They were topped up before the charger was installed.
I have a novo genius 2x4. The #1 bank is blank, no less are on. Banks 2,3&4 work fine and charge batteries like they should. Any idea why bank one has no less on??? Bank 1 will not charge
i am interesting to know more about the NOCO charger more type, so how do i contact you . thanks
Need your recommendation on maintenance charging/charger for a 4 bank 109-amp hour (each battery) deep cycle system. System is in a garage, in the air with a 120V plug nearby for the garage door opener. Plug has 1 outlet open (not being used). System is used for emergency power back up when the power goes out (grid down). The batteries are to power a 2400-watt inverter for 2 full size house refrigerator/freezers. Thank you!!!
I would recommend taking a look at the GENPRO10X4 unit from NOCO. This is a four bank 10 amp per bank charger with all of the features we covered in the GENIUS2X4 video.
Do they sale the gator clips separately? I just purchased the older version and wanted to see if noco sale those clips that fit the terminal lug they came with.
Yes they do, its NOCO part number GC001
Question, I try to charge my optima batteries I believe they are AGM and they have stayed on the first bar and they haven’t moved after like eight hours. Should I remove them from the truck and charge them that way with everything disconnected or could it be a issue with the battery they are brand new, but I haven’t used the truck. I believe the drain completely down.
I recommend leaving the charger on the battery and let it try to run through a full charge cycle. It certainly sounds like there is a parasitic drain issue in the truck, after 24 hours if the charger is still on that first bar I would then remove (disconnect) the batteries from the truck and try again.
Can we connect different battery profiles at the same time like lead acid for chn1, agm for chn2 and li on chn3? Thx
Yes, you can connect different chemistry batteries to the charger and assign different charging profiles to each bank.
Hello. Can I use the 2x2 model to maintain two batteries on a 24v system without disconnect them?
Yes, the 2x2 model can do that without an issue.
Yes, excellent question, I found the answer here. Is this process suitable for 2x4?
Excellent review......Thanks. 1-question. I live in Canada where some winter months gets very cold. You mentioned that the charger has a temp sensor. Will it operate when it gets down to -28 to -30 Celsius . I think thats around -18 to -22 Fahrenheit
The charger is rated between -20 to +40C for its operating range. I don't think this is a good option for that temperature range. CTEK has a unit call the MUS 4.3 Polar which is good down to -30C. The unit is not as robust in the features, but its been pretty popular in the Canadian market.
Thanks High Tech.......greatly appreciated
great video! so you can set it and forget it? my two wakeboard boat batteries and two 12v 35ah agm can be left on when not I'm use to maintain batteries?
Yes, this charger is fully automatic and can be left connected to your batteries indefinitely without damaging them!
Thank you looks like a good charger. Can I leave the cables on my vehicle attached to the battery while charging the battery using this device? Or Is it better to remove the negative cable while charging the battery to break the connection with the vehicle ?
You can leave the negative cable attached, the charger will not damage the cars computer systems or any of the vehicles electrical components.
Thank you for the question and answer
Is the maintenance mode good? I have 3 and 4 year old batteries. I want to revive the battery. Can he ??? ❌❌ ♥ ️
I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra with group 27F 710cca with reserve capacity with 165 min. After having charger on for 8 hrs shows no error lights will go to second red charging light flashing and never goes to green showing its fully charged. The truck starts but doesnt show fully charged. Its on the 12V charging. Any ideas why this is? What do you recommend.
It sounds like the charger is working as it should - keep in mind this is a 2A charger, so 8 hours on charger in its bulk charge mode put roughly 16 amps worth into the battery. The typical capacity of a group 27F is 60 to 70 amp hours, so depending on the state of charge for the battery it may take more time.
I'm assuming to just maintain the battery you just leave it connected and forget about it in the regular charging mode or is there a special mode for just maintaining it and making sure it doesn't overcharge it? thanks in advance..
Thats correct, leave the charger in the correct charge mode for the chemistry of the battery you are charging and it will go into maintenance mode once the charge cycle is complete.
so this will not charge a 6v agm? or can I use it for a golf cart and charge 2-6v agm on agm setting 12v on golf cart 2 @ once time =12v? they all run parallel 8 x 6 48v THX AW
The 6V mode on this charger is geared for flooded and GEL batteries so not an ideal solution for 6V AGM's. You can wire them up to create a large 12V battery and use this as a battery maintainer for your entire bank.
⛔ Hello, I have a 75 ampere battery, what is the appropriate charger for 5 ampere or 10 ampere, and is the maintenance feature effective (3 year old battery) Thank you ♥
this is what i'm wondering about
I have four 6V AGM batteries. Is there a product NOCO sells that will charge 6V AGMs or can I use the NOCO Genius 2X4 to charge them if I create a series resulting in a 12V output?
The NOCO GENIUS2X4 unit does have a 6V charging method as part of its algorithm however it's geared towards flooded and gel cell batteries. NOCO makes the single bank GENIUS series such as the GENIUS10 with a dedicated 6V AGM mode however you would be limited to a single bank charger. It would be a trade off unless you get creative with your wiring.
Can I use this charger to charge low rider batteries? 4 batteries at once?
Have multiple bikes atvs with different batteries in all of them etc can’t decide between noco 2 or noco 5 ??
If you are charging them one a time and they are all smaller power sport batteries I recommend the GENIUS2. If you want to charge multiple at a time then the GENIUS2X4 is the way to go. You can set each bank individually for a specific chemistry and let it do its thing without having to worry about over charging.
Would this work to tender the batteries on a semi truck? it's a 12v system but all 4 batteries are all hooked up together.
Yes, you could use the GENIUS2X4 series to maintain your group 31 series batteries without an issue. You would not have to disconnect the batteries from each other to maintain the whole battery bank.
I have the same device, I'm wondering, just because I don't have enough information I'm afraid of breaking the device
@@KutsiTekin I took the gamble & tried it & it does work
my charger is blinking in the force mode but then will turn off, i dont know what to do. any assistance is appreciated.
I had the same problem, I sent the type for exchange and return to get the top model, I thought it was not enough
I have the noco charger my problem that i’m connecting the charger the to battery and at the same time I’m running my 12V fridge … the charger always shows that the battery is not holding charge…. So how i can keep the charger charge and maintaining my battery while i’m using my appliances?
The charger will eventually error out thinking the battery is not able to retain its charge - the draw it outpacing either the charger or its draining enough of the battery capacity to consistently drop its voltage below the charged threshold within a short amount of time.
I have (6) 8V batteries in my golf cart. Will this charger work?
If you are looking to maintain the batteries in the off season you could get away with using this unit. If you are going to be relying on it as a full time battery charger I do not recommend it.
I have 4 motorcycles - all four are maintenance free batteries. But only 1 motorcycle automatically charges when I connect the bikes to the Noco 2x4. the other 3 isnt recognized. What did I do wrong? I forced them to charge but i dont feel comfortable doing this.
If you had to force charge the batteries it could be an issue with their initial voltage level. If its below the chargers voltage cut off threshold then you would be required to use the force charge mode.
So is it okay if i charge group 31 batteries on 12v mode?
If they are flooded - yes.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thank you
How do you know if you have a gel cell or wet cell or an AMG battery ?
There should be some identifier on the battery itself. Either on the label of the battery or by looking up the part number of the battery to see. Simply looking at the battery and not seeing any caps on it will not tell you if its a sealed AGM or GEL cell unit.
Will charging an AGM battery with the lead acid setting hurt the battery? Or vise versa ?
@@BackwoodsLegit It could hurt an AGM battery over the long run. The main difference between the two modes is the charging and float voltage. The AGM batteries are much more sensitive to charging voltages and could gas if they are left on the standard 12V mode over an extended period of time due to the higher float voltage of that mode. Flooded batteries tend to ride with a higher float voltage, but I don't believe they would take damage in the AGM setting.
hi, just bought this and am realising they are mean for 40 ah batteries and lower. can it maintain 105 ah batteries.
I wish they would answer
@@KutsiTekin yes it will work. Will just take longer to charge from empty
can we use it to charge 4 battery 12v 100ah cennect serial ?
You can however it may time out on this charger depending on how far down the batteries are drained. Keep in mind that this charger is only putting out 2 amps per bank.
Another question... If you hook up 2 banks to 1 battery, will that speed up the charging process without any harm to the battery or charger?
Negative, it's been my experience that you will actually end up under charging the battery. The charger uses the voltage level of the battery to determine where it is in the charging process. My assumption here is that by having more than a single bank hooked up to the battery will artificially raise the voltage to much and trick both banks into shutting down earlier than needed to get a full charge into the battery.
Will this charge work on group 31 950-1000cca batteries
It would work to maintain them without an issue, however if you are charging them a completely discharged state it's not an ideal output. If you are charging completely drained 31 series batteries you would need to step the charger up to a 5A series such as the GEN5X line.
If you have 2 batteries hooked up in Parallel Should each battery get its own "bank"?
If the batteries are hooked up in parallel then the charge will flow to the second battery if you use only a single bank connected to one of the batteries. If you want to double up the charge rate to cut down your charge time then use both banks - one to each battery.
So, can we use it without separating the batteries from each other? For example, can we charge the 4 batteries connected in series without separating them?
@@KutsiTekin yes
Have you reviewed the 5x4 on board genius?
There is no 5X4 model, NOCO has the GENPRO10X4 model which is a 4 bank 10 amp per bank charger. They has a small release earlier this year however they will not be available for regular sale until the first of April.
Maybe I meant to say 5x2. I just purchased the onboard 5x2 charger but didn't see many reviews on UA-cam.
@@skeezle1337 Got it, we keep selling out the 5X2 series as soon as we get them in. We don't have a video up on that unit yet, but its on deck.
Very cool! Cant wait. Im extremely impressed with the quality. But some of the features are confusing.
What is max ah battery ,which can I charge this charger, thanks
NOCO recommends a 40 AH capacity range if you're looking to completely recharge a dead battery. If you are looking to use it as a maintainer then you are good up to a group 31 series which is typically around 100 AH.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thanks
Can thus be used as a onboard charger on a boat
Highly recommend you do not use this as an onboard charger. The charge rate on this unit is to low and its not waterproof. NOCO's 4-bank marine charger is called the GENPRO10x4
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thanks
Is it OK to leave one of these plugged in to a car that’s barely driven and the car has two batteries?
Yes, you can. The charger is fully automatic and will not overcharge your batteries. You will also not be required to disconnect the batteries from the vehicle - everything can remain as is when you use this charger.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc ok perfect thanks I just got my 2x2 in the mail and the product looks vary nice and vary good packaging
How come the green light keeps blinking for hours and hours.
The green light blinks slowly with all other lights off on that bank the charger is in its optimization mode. Once that mode is finished the light will turn solid green.
crazy they dont use SAE connectors then want $72 for 4 adapters to SAE, also ten foot long cables not long enough to connect to 4 vehicles then they only offer expensive additional ten foot cables (Battery tender are 25ft!)
Can you start your vehicle while this is plugged in?
I would not recommend it.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc ok thanks
BE CAREFUL!! This unit is for maintaining 40ah batteries max... it's hidden in the specs. Also the old ones came with stud post connections (that part was covered here) so you'd have to pay another $40 for those. I've had 3 different NOCOs on boats with no issues. Built an electric outboard with 48v ebike kit and old 6hp outboard. Looking for 4 bank charger. Glad I did some research. Disappointed because it is marketed as a marine charger too and NOCO is missing out on a niche demand. So the only option you have from NOCO for a 4bank is a 4x10 which is twice as much and unless you're using the batteries hard back to back days consistently, there's really no need to push 10amps on a deep cycle.
I know it says 40ah max, but what would the issue be if you used this on a 95ah battery? Wouldn't it just take over 2 times as long to charge?
@@KJMcLaws you can use this on a battery larger then 40ah. The reason they're recommending the larger charger is because of the time it'll take to charge. which doesn't matter much as it's meant to be plugged in for long periods of time anyway.
NOCO makes GREAT chargers, HOWEVER, this one and some others will NOT do(charge/maintain) batteries over 40AHr...
According to Noco, it can only fully charge a battery up to 40 ah, but can maintain any size.
I have a novo genius 2x4. The #1 bank is blank, no less are on. Banks 2,3&4 work fine and charge batteries like they should. Any idea why bank one has no less on??? Bank 1 will not charge
If the power light is not on for that first bank at the very least then there is a warranty issue with the bank
Is the maintenance mode good? I have 3 and 4 year old batteries. I want to revive the battery. Can he ??? ❌❌ ♥ ️
The GENIUS2X4 is a good all-around battery charger and maintainer with a built-in desulphation mode. If you're looking for a dedicated repair mode to deal with extremely sulfated batteries then you're going to be better off with either the GENIUS5 or the GENIUS10 series units. Both of those units are only single bank however they have the dedicated repair mode to deal strictly with damaged batteries.
