    Well done Neutrik you have successfully produced a really good component that will loose you some customers because you feel you do not owe your customers anything. I for one will not be buying these. There are times on the road you may need to rework a cable for what ever reason and I do not want anything which will take time to disassemble due to a locking system without thought. I rather buy third party. RIDICULOUS

    Really, who dreamed up this design? Neutrik has turned a simple thing into rocket science.

    There seems to be a misunderstanding about the disassembly of this connector. You do NOT need special tools or even a wrench to undo this. It can EASILY be undone by hand but you have to understand how to do it. The colored ring is designed to spin counter clockwise but not clockwise. This means you can grip the shell when you tighten the connector up but when you try to undo it, the ring will spin round and round preventing you from getting a grip of the shell.
    All you need is a rubber glove to grip the entire shell especially the end part. Then you can apply enough torque to get past the internal locking sleeve mechanism. It is easier than using the tool.

    Terrible new design that requires expensive tools (HTLACB and HTLACA) to dissemble if/when needed. These tools are small and could easily get lost especially on a large job site.

    Nota bene: watching this video, you'd think you'd need about $1120 worth of tools to wire this connector! 🙂
    Neutrik should let the general public know that all you need is a Torx T8 screwdriver and a pair of wire cutters - not everyone is a millionaire! 🙂

    Lockable chuck and T8 torx will lose you a lot of customers.Imagine a wrong polarity connection and not beeing able to open the connector and fix that.These are terrible “improvements” for the new design.

      I believe the torque screwdriver is Wiha TorqueVario-S series 2852. This series has several models with different specifications, so pay attention if you decide to purchase. I still have not solved the question of the torque wrench.

      the tools are listed at 0:05:
      - Cable cutter is WIHA profesional electric series, not sure about the model.
      - Wire stripper is KNIPEX 12 62 180
      - Cable stripper is KNIPEX 16 30 135 SB (RS Pro 262-0151, Wetlink BR-100429 and Jonard Tools CST-1900 are pretty much the same tool)
      - Torque screwdriver is WIHA 26462 with WIHA 27526
      - Torque wrench is HAZET 3107-3CT

    Can these be hand tightened like the FX or is the torque wrench essential?

    • @ashtree2372
      @ashtree2372 Рік тому +2

      No, rest assured, you can easily do the tightening by hand. The only thing that can be annoying with this connector model is that, once assembled and the ring tightened, small internal non-return notches make disassembly very difficult.

    how to you remove the locking part if you're done the wiring wrong? it's locked!!!

    • @ashtree2372
      @ashtree2372 Рік тому +3

      In fact, it's very difficult, because the non-return notches on the inside of the cable clamp prevent from turn back (unscrewing). You need to use the Neutrik HTLACB and HTLACA tools, which in August 2023 are worth 80 and 70 euros respectively at low prices... It seems that the people at Neutrik don't care much about this or the cost of their products, since they have virtually monopolized the connector market and imposed their standards, with undeniable quality, but which should be accessible to non-professionals, because even for professionals it's still very expensive...
      Without using the HTLACB and HTLACA tools (you can see them in the video), it's possible to use a pair of pliers or a suitable wrench, suitably tightened so as not to damage the plastic, and then unscrew with a fair amount of force, holding the whole front part, but it's true that it's still pretty hard to do. Neutrik should have thought that a connector should be removable, but maybe the next version will have this improvement. It's annoying to have to buy new connectors with new standards every time. Money machine and waste... When the Jack connector was invented, there weren't 50,000 versions...

      @@ashtree2372 See my comment at the top. This is not correct information. The internal cable clamp simply makes undoing the shell harder it does not prevent it. And the ring around the shell also makes it impossible to grip making it hard to apply any torque.
      It is very easy to screw and unscrew this connector. Try it and see.
      If you dont grip the entire shell, it will be impossible to open obviously.

      @@ProfessorJohnSmith vous avez écrit "clockwise but not clockwise" 🙂À part cela il est évident qu'on peut se passer des outils de démontage proposés par Neutrik et qui sont très chers, mais de toutes façons, même avec votre gant en caoutchouc et en saisissant bien l'ensemble du corps du connecteur il faudra exercer un couple puissant pour pouvoir surpasser l'obstacle que constituent les crans internes qui sont comme des dents de scie obliques dans un sens et droits dans le sens inverse. Neutrik auraient pu concevoir un déverrouillage avec une sécurité, de façon à ce que l'ouverture du connecteur soit facilitée. Il ne faut pas oublier que c'est du matériel professionnel, et les professionnels aiment bien les systèmes conçus pour pouvoir être montés et démontés facilement, avec soit une astuce pour le faire, soit des outils spéciaux, mais même avec les outils Neutrik (très chers) ce n'est pas facile du tout. J'ai plus de quarante ans d'expérience dans la sonorisation et le matériel audio, et à mon avis ce connecteur, bien que d'excellente qualité, est mal conçu pour ce qui est de la démontabilité. Je suis également revendeur et je pense aux clients et aux utilisateurs...
      you wrote “clockwise but not clockwise” 🙂 Apart from that, it's obvious that you can do without the expensive disassembly tools offered by Neutrik, but in any case, even with your rubber glove and a good grip on the connector body, you'll need to exert a powerful torque to overcome the obstacle posed by the internal notches, which are like saw teeth that are oblique in one direction and straight in the opposite. Neutrik could have designed a release with a safety catch, to make opening the connector easier. Don't forget that this is professional equipment, and professionals like systems designed to be easily assembled and disassembled, with either a trick to do it, or special tools, but even with Neutrik's (very expensive) tools it's not easy at all. I have over forty years' experience in sound equipment, and in my opinion this connector, although of excellent quality, is poorly designed as far as disassembly is concerned. I'm also a retailer, and I'm thinking of customers and users...

      @@ashtree2372 I don't see what the problem is. I have tried assembling two of the plugs with the cable. They are both easy to unscrew by hand. I can do it even without a glove. The notches will become smoother if you open and close it many times. I dont need much torque to unscrew it. You just need to make sure you grip it tightly and that is the difficulty.
      Why do you say it is not easy to do it even with the Neutrik tool?
      You cant have a security lock that is easy to unscrew. Otherwise it is useless.
